I would like to express my deep concerns regarding the ISLC Vancouver English School. The introduction of a substantial number of Brazilian students, which now constitutes more than half of the student body, without specific level separation, has significantly affected the learning environment. The decision to group students solely by general proficiency levels has led to mixed-level classes, where students from B4 and intermediate levels are studying alongside B3 students. This situation has hindered B3 students' ability to interact effectively and engage in class activities, making them feel like even more beginner students. Furthermore, I have observed that my wife, who was initially evaluated as a B3-level student, has been assigned B4 homework and exams. This discrepancy reflects a lack of professionalism in the school's administration, causing unnecessary confusion and hindering her progression. I sincerely hope that ISLC Vancouver English School addresses these issues and implements a more organized and effective approach to class placement and evaluation to provide a better learning experience for all students.

Awful school, RUDE STAFF, manager with attitude.

Not customer-oriented, but fully focused on company's convenience.

What can I say more?
You choose here, you book for unpleasant experience.

I've heard often about 'attitude' issues of the staff members here from other students before I experienced it as well.

Many students complain about many things that they CAN'T do because of "rules" of this school. Because this school is fully focused on their own convenience.

This company feels very 'selfish' as a former student.

You choose here, you book for unpleasant experience.

So stay away from this school if you're planning to spend money for pleasant memories.
Hope you guys spend your money wisely.

My two kids attended their summer camp in UBC in 2023. Most students there are from Taiwan. They gathered together and spoke Chinese. It did not help much to improve their English. The food provided at the school cafeteria was bad. Besides, the staff was not friendly and helpful. My son’s original level was tested I2. But they did a retest due to certain reason unknown and the result became b2-which is four levels apart. My son complained the course was extremely easy and boring to him. I issued the complaint, but they were not willing to transfer him to higher levels and insisted their placement system was correct. The attitude of the academic manager, Steve, was really bad and hard to communicate. I was really disappointed with the whole summer camp experience. It’s not worth the money.

There is a huge problem with the school's classification system, and it doesn't care about the students' reactions, and it is unwilling to correct it! Attitude and its perfunctory and bad!
The following is personal experience, and I'm in school.
First of all, there will be an overall assessment of the grades every month, and students will be given an upgrade or not, and if they are upgraded, they will go to the next stage of the course.
This time I personally got the grades in the first stage of the class and was upgraded smoothly. I also received confirmation of the school’s scheduled timetable before class, but just before class, I opened the school app again because I wanted to confirm the classroom number again. As a result, I was changed to a non-upgrade course, and the new course was called a two-level comprehensive class. And then I have to go back to the very basic courses, the school just wants to be perfunctory by saying that there is no seat!
Here are a few of them that I consider serious:
1. Unauthorized tampering with the course that the student has booked, and exchange it with other students who are dissatisfied with the current course arrangement, and then say that the class is full and cannot be modified! (Because the former classmate told us that he was going to ask the school to change classes, and I was the one who was changed!)
2. Inquiry During the course adjustment process, students have been questioned about the student's ability and failed the upgrade test (the school transcript clearly shows that he has been upgraded), and shirk responsibility to the class teacher. (Anyone who has attended a language school knows that teachers cannot choose students, and teachers can only attend classes according to the students given by the school)
3. Regardless of the students whose grades have been promoted to the next stage, they insisted that we take the same course content again. (There are several students in the same situation in the class)
4. Because the number of students at the same level exceeds, but there is less than a complete class, regardless of the rights and interests of students and to reduce costs, the two levels are combined into one class, resulting in the problem of repeated learning in point 3.

My personal experience is that no matter how you communicate with the school, the school completely ignores your rights! They don't care if you waste time studying the same courses!
Students who are about to choose this school, please think twice!

The above statement is absolutely true

They gave me wrong directions and I missed the test center closing by one minute

It’s a wonderful school with lots of skillful teachers who will help you learn exactly what you need for your higher education alongside partnerships with a lot of colleges and universities in BC and extremely helpful staff who will aid you with your application process. I really appreciate all they have done and would definitely support them wherever I can.
