In The Bean Time

The food itself tasted good, and the portions were good. The baked goods were nice as well. However it was over $50 for our meal, and the service was very slow. We had to wait behind one person for almost 10 minutes before being able to give our orders.

Ordered ahead for take out had either forgotten to do it or just didn’t bother to do it and made them when I arrived had to wait 15 minutes for it to be ready. Picked up lunch came to Chemainus to our parents house only gave us 2 of the 3 sandwiches we paid $66.00 when I called them the girl I spoke to was very very rude considering that they screwed it up from beginning to end.

The Americano was undrinkable, which is a bummer after spending $5 for burnt-bean water. Was excited to try this place on the way up Island and it is a cute location so hate to say that the $1.75 drip coffee from a small-town gas station that I had later that day was actually better. A place this cute (and great business name by the way!) should have top-quality fresh coffee. Mine tasted old and stale.

My goodness, this place is crazy on Saturday morning! The servers were working as hard as I've seen a crew work. It took awhile to get my coffee but it was totally understandable and the coffee was good when I got it. The food looks very good - how about offering some vegan treats?

Friendly service, great sandwich, cozy café, my only suggestion would be to use more matcha in lattes and Frappuccinos.

Decent food, lots of options, attentive front service. Lady who usually works in the back generally seems to always be having a bad day tho.

Total nostalgia. They had peanut butter butter scotch marshmallow bars, haven't had one since I was a kid. The chai latte was also delicious.

Chicken sandwiches were good as per server recommendation. Food didn't take long either.

Delicious food, coffee is quite good. Friendly service even though we were there not long before closing and we never felt rushed. We luckily got out of there before they closed, but it was really nice we never felt like they were trying to rush us out of there. I know it must suck when people come in right before closing but they are just amazing there. Will return again and again. (Just try and be polite and come earlier in the day)

Comfortable coffee shop where you can sit down and enjoy a nice cappuccino and a muffin! Our favorite in Ladysmith.

My go to is the chicken salad wrap and a coffee - always delicious! I highly recommend a rest stop here on your next drive through Ladysmith.

The best food in ladysmith! They are busy so it can take some time, but it’s easily worth it. The best beef dip I’ve had in my life. Quality ingredients cooked well.
I would say their weak point is the drinks; the drinks aren’t terrible but they are outshone by the bakery and the wild poppy.

Good coffee (good selection of cookies et al), in place with nice (historic) ambiance and friendly staff

The food is excellent quality and the staff was nice. This place is poppin' so make sure you give yourself enough time for a wait in the lineup.twas worth it.
Also, the comfy couch area is giving off mad Central Perk vibes!

I usually get good food here so I’ll give them points for that, but there have been problems with the coffee drinks. One time we were delivered 2 lattes with oat milk that were super sweet. We couldn’t drink them so they were returned and replaced with something else. Today I went in and I ordered 2 pumpkin spice lattes with oat milk. When the order was picked up it was clear they were not made with oat milk so they were re-made both with oat milk. However there was no pumpkin flavour whatsoever in these lattes. Also there was way too much cinnamon on top. So we tried to enjoy these $6.00 coffee drinks but actually couldn’t find anything redeeming about them. So, I returned them and said there was no pumpkin flavour and way to much cinnamon. The barista explained that if I wanted to alter the recipe in anyway I had to say so at the time of the order. I in turn explained that just wanted it to taste like a pumpkin spice latte (this is not my first). She also explained that they use pumpkin purée which apparently doesn’t have any pumpkin flavour. Ok but I’d like a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk that tastes like a pumpkin spice latte. Doesn’t matter how you get there. So yet another pumpkin spice latte was made, this time with more pumpkin purée and a spice mix and again it was awful. The barista suggested I add sugar! (I don’t sweeten any of my coffee drinks) so no. The manager was consulted who was no real help at all, expressing her concern that this was latte #3 and it still wasn’t right. And somehow, it was my fault. Another barista suggested that I didn’t order with oat milk in the first place. Which really annoyed me. I know what I ordered. So it was clear from their defensive posture that the problem was me and it was not going to be resolved. So we left without coffee and $12 poorer. No we won’t be going back there for coffee drinks. Very disappointing experience.

2.5 stars. The eggs benedict were heavy and unappetizing. The potatoes were undercooked, still raw in the middle. The egg was poached perfectly, but the hollandaise sauce was way too heavy, and it was also split. I couldn't finish it, just too heavy and greasy. Other items looked good, so maybe they just had an off day.
