If you have specific needs when it comes to boats or fabrication it's the only place to go in Victoria

This is a great place to get almost any 'plasticy' thing.except anti-glare film, which was the reason for my vist. Hence only 4 out of 5 stars <grin>

This is one of the worst websites I have ever tried to navigate. Goodness gracious, hire someone to sort out that mess.

UPDATE:

Something has changed in recent months. While the rest of the store remains largely unchanged in terms of products, the 3D printing section has a noticeable decline. The best I can describe it is neglected.

There seems to be issues with stock, organization, and knowledge. Perhaps they've changed their hours, but the staff that used to be knowledgeable seem to be absent and the few times I was in there recently there was no one available to answer my questions.

I've unfortunately had to go back to ordering from Amazon because I can't find any of the things I need in IPP.

Whatever is going on there, I hope they address it.

.

I've always enjoyed dropping into IP&P for periodically for materials and supplies I need for various projects, but with their new commitment to 3D printing supplies I see myself making the trek in much more frequently.

Having a local supplier of 3D printing supplies is a huge advantage and much nicer than having to constantly rely on online retailers. Being able to go in, see the options and get great advice is really convenient.

I hope they continue to build their selection as I think it will help more people locally get into and feel comfortable with the hobby. Great decision to support this hobby by IP&P! Well done!

I wish to thank John at Industrial Plastics for his outstanding, "out of the box" service he recently provided me.
Thank you John for your help.

Recently, I was doing research on 3D printers on Reddit. Someone mentioned that Industrial Plastics and Paints had some of the best prices on 3D printers and filament.

So off I went to Victoria. And boy, am I glad I went in!   I lucked out by getting Travis as my first point of contact. To say that he is passionate about all things related to 3D printing would be and understatement!   I learned more from him in the next 30 minutes than I had ever known about anything to do with 3D printing. He didn't try to sell me anything, but he answered every question I threw at him.   During this time, another employee, Christopher, showed up and was equally as passionate about 3D printing and offered even additional helpful information.   It was absolutely excellent that I was able to talk to two people who have actually used and own the products that they sell, and in the case of Christopher, he had actually used all the different brands of filament that I was looking at potentially buying once I selected a 3D printer. Between the two of them, they laid to rest a lot of hesitation and uncertainty that I had, especially surrounding different makes and brands of 3D printers and filament and how they would perform.

I left and returned home and did some more research and compared prices with other Canadian vendors and I was pleased to discover that Industrial Plastics and Paints had some of the best prices in all of Canada, they had everything that I wanted in stock now, and perhaps even better, is it was one of the few local businesses that were being competitive and I was glad to give them my business because of that competitiveness.

In today's world where everyone seems to promote buying local to support our own communities and the local people who live in them with us, it's all very nice and virtuous to say this, but if the local business is going to charge you more than where you can get the same identical thing somewhere else, then the wheels fall off that idea pretty fast. Very few local businesses are competitive, and this is why most of them end up failing. Being loyal to your local community businesses only goes so far and it usually ends when you have to pay more. So I was very pleased and happy to find this truly local family run store, that's been around literally since the end of WWII in Victoria, has probably the biggest and best selection on the Island of 3D printers (and resin 3D printers too), a huge selection of different types, brands and colors of filament, and a great selection of accessories and PARTS for the printers they sell, AND all this at probably the best prices in Canada!   #TAKEMYMONEY!

I ended up buying the 3D printer I wanted at the Victoria Industrial Plastics and Paints, and it was the best price I could find anywhere in Canada.   I brought it home the same day, and have since returned twice since then to buy decently priced filament (I now have 14 rolls of 1kg filament, in 14 different colors from 4 different brands).   So all in all an absolute excellent store with excellent staff and an excellent customer experience and excellent pricing!   As long as they keep it up and don't get greedy by jacking up prices, or hiring staff who say, 'I think" instead of actually KNOWING what they are talking about, they are my go-to store from now on!

Sadly during my most recent visit, Travis has been shipped off the the Kelowna Industrial Plastics and Paints to get their 3D printing department in order, so Kelowna you too will soon have one of the best 3D printing and accessories stores in the entire Okanagan!   And Christopher has also departed recently as well to places unknown.   A massive loss of knowledge and experience for sure, but hopefully they will be replaced by newcomers who will be as knowledgeable and as pationate as Travis and Christopher were.

Overall I was quite satisfied with my purchase and experience with Industrial Paints and Plastics with one issue I will address on Monday when they are open for business next. I called for a price quote on three items, five US Gallons of unwaxed polyester resin, 20 yards x 50" of 1 1/2 Oz glass mat and 1 liter of Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide. The prices were as expected with one exception however I didn't notice until more than an hour past closing time. They charged me twice the price I was quoted only one day prior. Depending on the outcome of my issue I will adjust the number of stars to reflect the situation in it's entirety.

Great service & selection! I've bought a few storage bins here and the latest one was on wheels with a rubber seal. Thanks to the staff!

The best 3D printing store I've ever been in, and then am exceptional hardware store on top of that. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and already saving me money on 3D printing + supplies

Love the store, excited to visit again.

More than just plastics and paint! Boat supplies, safety equipment, and best of all 3D printers and supplies. Inspirational shop.

It's really great to have a local option for 3d printing supplies. They have great selection and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable.
Somehow they compete with online pricing too.
Plus there is a punch card for Resin, which you'll probably fill out real quick if you print a lot.
I'll be a regular for sure.

So awsome to have 3D printing supplies locally. So happy to have a wide variety of filaments and resin on had. As well as part and printers also the staff really know there stuff and we're very helpful 2 some one just starting out. Hope to see more great new stuff in the future! If you have a 3D printer and live in Victoria this is must stop!

I have been shopping at IPP for more than 20 years and it has always been my go to shop for so many projects. What I hadn't realized was that they were now doing 3D printers and supplies. I have been wanting one for 5 years, but buying one online was off putting for various reasons.

The expertise I have come to expect with IPP is also in their 3d printing dept. I had a million questions and Chris spent an hour patiently answering them all. He freely shared his knowledge and didn't try to upsell me. So, while I came in to buy a screwdriver, I left with a 3d printer.

I assembled the printer, but I'd obviously missed something. I went back in and Chris spent an hour adjusting and tuning the printer. He explained every step he did, so that I could do the different adjustments on my own. This took the better part of an hour and is a level of customer service that is so missing these days. I really hope that IPP continues to expand out their 3D printing department and can offer additional supports and services to the local community.

TLDR - If you want a 3D printer - BUY IT at IPP!

I went into the store today to troubleshoot and figure out which piece I needed for my 3d printer. Chris was honest, helpful and knowledgable. The only thing that would make the experience better would be more colors of filament. That being said, they have a great selection to begin with but they can always have more! I left super satisfied and will be back for all my 3d printing needs!

Outstanding knowledge and service, and outstanding to have a local 3D printing supply - no ordering online! Nothing like seeing products in person, and getting great advice from those with experience in all things plastic - great modern fit for a plastics business.

I have been going to industrial plastics and paints for a few years now for various reasons. However after hearing that they've started carrying 3d printing products I went to check them out and I was very, very stoked. Huge selection of parts, printers and filaments. After exclusively buying anything related to 3d printing online for over a year I am very happy that I have a local option now and I will be back there often from now on. Chris was a wealth of knowledge and was friendly, helpful, and great to chat with. He knows what's up!

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We had a minor issue which they were quick to respond to in a very positive manner. Great customer service.

Every single time I come in to the store they have new stock for me to nerd out on. I just went in today and saw the new CR-30 printing mill and couldn't be more stoked that I have a local supplier for my hobby. Also the staff has been awesome with answering any of my questions and making me feel welcome. I am stoked to see what comes next (in the realm of 3D printing especially)

I purchased my first 3-D printer today at Industrial Plastics & Paints and Chris couldn't have been more helpful. Very knowledgeable about all the products and was able to point me in the right direction to find the printer that best matched what I was looking for. Will definitely be back again. Thank you, Chris!

You can get a wide variety of specialty plastics, paints and resins that most stores don't carry. For some of the more common products you can get for a lower price elsewhere.

My new go to place in Victoria for 3D printing. Very knowledgeable staff relating to 3d printing.
06 August 2021 8:19
A very welcome addition is their expanding 3D printing section. Competitive pricing even compared to Amazon, and its worth going there just for the display models. The spare parts section is great, because before this I had to order from Ontario with a week long shipping.

Support these guys so they can grow and make an ever more convenient solution for the makers out there.

I spoke with Chris, experienced in all things 3d printing, and he took the time to hang out and chat. These guys are the real deal.

Finally a local source for 3D printing!

I visited today to check out their stock of 3D printing supplies and staff member Chris was immediately helpful. I was really impressed by their products and expertise - I was expecting a small selection of dated products, but was amazed by how much new tech they carry. They have different brands of PLA, PETG, and even TPU filaments in a ton of colours and an amazing selection of new Creality replacement and upgrade parts. (I finally found a 300mm PEI spring steel sheet that I don’t have to take a gamble on from a foreign seller!)

Everything is priced to match what you could find on Amazon with the added benefit of amazing local service! Could not recommend this place more, especially if you are new to 3D printing.
23 July 2021 4:45
Great selection of upgrade and replacement parts for my Creality printer. Glad there is somewhere local I can buy filament, parts and even printers. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Will be back to buy my Cr-10 Smart! Thanks.

Their selection is unmatched, their prices as well…. But not in the good way. I only come here when I can’t find what I need at other store in town. That’s ok though - they’re a specialty shop so I get why prices are high, but it’s still shocking to see prices at 1.5-3x of what the hardware stores are charging.

The reason why I’m giving such a low star rating is that this is the third time in a row I’ve had to correct prices at the till. I’d say there is maybe a 10% chance that the cashier will notice if I’m buying a can of mistint (which is clearly marked on the top of the can…not hard to miss), and only this most recent time was the cashier able to correct the price without managerial intervention. I have no problem with cashiers not knowing things, but in both instances where they needed help, the manager walked away the moment they finished editing the price and left the cashier just as stranded when ringing up the next item in my order. I’ve had 10 items take 45 minutes to ring up because we were standing around waiting. This problem with correct prices doesn’t apply to just clearance items, though those are definitely the worst. I’ve had to provide photographs of their own signage to get the sale price as advertised each of the last 3 times I was here.

In addition, there’s no possible way to check that the items are ringing up at the correct price - the screen is pointed towards the cashier and the text too small to even try keeping tabs on what’s being rung up and how. This last time I was wise enough to ask my cashier to verbally go through my purchase item by item to verify its price and sure enough, 3/7 items rang up incorrectly.

There are so many ways that this system could be improved. Even just a basic display for the customer showing the order as it’s being rung up would be a major improvement and also save IPP on the cost of having to offer refunds, since the first moment the customer can verify the item price is on the receipt itself, after payment. Perhaps marking the barcodes so clearance items must be entered manually. Offering better training to cashiers so that they are able to cope with disparities between the advertised price and the price that comes up on their screen. A better inventory description so that items without barcodes (like many buckets, pails, and plastic containers) can be correctly ID’ed by cashiers. Or even just slap a barcode sticker on them.

I don’t know if IPP is intentionally trying to disguise the disparity between the advertised price and the price that it rings up as, but it certainly always works in their favour. I have learned to check my receipt carefully after every transaction because I have yet to walk out of there without either having been overcharged, or having had to correct a cashier before they had the opportunity to overcharge me. I am frustrated that going here requires such vigilance - I don’t want to call it a lack of integrity but there certainly doesn’t seem to be a lot of motivation to fix this broken system.

It's so great to finally have a good local source for 3d printing supplies. It got me to buy a new printer, the Creality Ender 3 Max. Great machine! So great to see a good supply of filament with choices both in material and colour. And resin printer! I saw today the wash/cure stations are in stock as well. That may have to come home soon, that whole set up. Thank you so much for stocking Creality. Seriously.

And the filament stamp card. Bonus!

Just bought a 3D printer and everyone I've dealt with at the Victoria store has been helpful, patient and friendly. Also, they have recently brought in more 3D supplies, components and extra colours. Highly recommend/

A stunningly bad experience. From managerial staff complaining to another employee about a recent staff meeting at the customer service desk while I stood beside them to missing the deadline on my order and having no sense of accountability or how to make it right. One bright spot was Gracia, a customer service rep who understood from the beginning what needed to be done and when and why. She went above and beyond to assist me, particularly after all other employees failed. Frankly, if anyone is looking to hire an excellent all around manager or assistant manager, swing by Industrial Plastic and Paints and make her an offer. Gracia's skill set is far and above the service level this company offers. I am not a friend of hers, but I am someone who has worked in customer service for 30 years and knows the value of attentive, self-motivated staff.

Finally a local place that is selling 3D printing parts and materials! Just picked up a Creality CR10 and a bunch of filament. I'm VERY excited to see your 3D printing isle grow!

I bought my first 3d printer from Industrial Plastics. Chris was very helpful during the purchase, sharing his expertise and knowledge. When I had a problem with getting the printer going, Chris was able to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
The store carries a good assortment of filaments, accessories and parts for the Creality printers.
I look forward to seeing more things as Industrial Plastics expand their inventory.
