I recently visited Izumiya Japanese Marketplace in Richmond, which is within walking distance from my home. I was blown away by the deliciousness of their food - we had three types of noodles and an order of chicken karate, and every dish was fantastic. My favorite was the one with the spicy soup.

The atmosphere at Izumiya is cool and we can self order at their kiosk. They had simple traditional Japanese decor and a friendly staff. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, making for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience.

The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the noodles - each variety had its own unique flavor and texture, and they were all cooked to perfection. The chicken karate was also incredibly tasty, with tender, succulent meat that was marinated in a delicious sauce.

I would highly recommend Izumiya Japanese Marketplace to anyone looking for a tasty and authentic Japanese dining experience. The food is top-notch, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is excellent. It's definitely a must-try if you're in the Richmond area.

Very similar offerings to other Japanese groceries, with slightly better quality and commensurate higher prices.

Nice little Japanese grocery, staff are very helpful and the whole vibe of the shop was just what I needed today.

Good variety of Asian snacks, drinks, dessert, and candy. Also ready to go packed meals (sushi rolls, dons, boxes). Things are fairly priced.

One of the best Japanese markets in the lower mainland and perhaps even better than fujiya in terms of pricing.

I really like shopping here because I can't live without Japanese konbu and kokudo. So glad that they carry these in abundance.

One of our family traditions is having Osechi (Japanese New Year food) in the morning. Over the past few years we’ve ordered from Izumiya in Richmond. The quality is always good and it looks impressive This is the 3-tray set that came out this year, filled with a variety of traditional Japanese dishes. We ordered ours at the beginning of December to make sure we could get one because they are limited.

Nice Japanese market. My kids like the sushi rolls and all sorts of snacks. A good place for groceries shopping.

Swung by yesterday before close. Good selection of Japanese goods. You can find some good prices on items if you have compared elsewhere. It can get pricy but I really enjoyed my experience. Cashier was friendly and 50% off was stacked. I'll definitely be back earlier next time as they close by 6pm. Hidden gem!

My favourite store for Japanese foods and ingredients. Quality is always top notch, selection is great, and prices are more than reasonable. Be sure to scan the freezer section for some great hidden gems like mentaiko, katsuo tataki, and tako if there's none in the fresh foods display cabinet. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Many thanks!

Overpriced but good bentos. Staff could be a little more polite? One doesn't say a word whenever she rings me through, but maybe she's just really quiet. Overall a good place to get lunch and Japanese products.

Izumiya has a decent selection of packaged dry foods, seasonings, snacks, drinks, frozen and raw ingredients, prepared meals, baked goods, homewares, and skincare. The staff are friendly and they respond thoughtfully to emails. Thank you very much!

I love this store for their small packed sushi and sashimi which are very good for quick lunch. I mostly have lunch here.

Huge assortment of Japanese grocery items. Very good Japanese takeout meals from sushi rolls to bento boxes & everything in between. There's also some fresh produce. Excellent prices & very popular with Japanese students.

Nice little Japanese market. I think they have the freshest fish in Richmond! They also have really good bento boxes and a nice bakery. Things are well priced and you can find a variety of japanese things here you won't find anywhere else in the city. Parking is pretty easy to and never too crowded.

Always a fave place for my kids to have treats from their special grocery. Don't know more than half of the stuff they have, but never been disappointed each time I have tried each one. Very clean and organized, small but the staff makes up for it.
22 September 2021 3:35
Lots of different japanese products and high quality fish for sushi. I got quite a few snacks and frozen goods to try at home. Prices are pretty good, definitely cheaper than the Japanese store on Robson. Good value!

Izumiya is one of a few Japanese grocery/goods stores in Richmond. Upon entering and going clockwise, they have sections with: rice and mochi cakes; fruits and vegetables like kabocha squash, sweet potatoes, shishito peppers, gobo root, naganegi, daikon, enoki/white and brown shimeji/shiitake mushrooms (FYI they are all from countries other than Japan) ; a cosmetics area; some freezers with various meats/fish/veggies; kitchen/bathroom items; then aisles with candy (popping candy, jellies), different KitKats (found Cafe Latte and Ume Plum today!), and local brand Coconama chocolate bars (the Matcha Black Sesame is amazing), cookies (Country Ma'am, Koala's March), Choco Pies, Pocky/Peejoy/Picola, teas/coffees, sauces/vinegars/oils,
noodles (soba/somen), canned/bottled/packaged sweets (like for Fruits Mitsumame), spices and dry packaged seasonings, dried beans (adzuki beans from Alberta!) ; fridges with canned/bottled drinks, jelly desserts and protein jelly drinks, Coconama truffles, savoury toppings/pickles; a meat/fish/fish cake section; more aisles with instant ramen, curries, pancake mix, furikake, potato chips, more candies and snacks, savoury and sweet rice crackers; and back to the front of the store skin/hair care products; some baked and seasonal goods; and cooking gadgets. No sushi/bento boxes but I think that is re Covid. Then there is candy/gum at the checkouts.
So a good size store. Not too big/crowded and not too small with little selection. Just right!

Yep. Way better than the other Japanese grocery store. The bentos and sushi are really good and reasonably priced. I really enjoy the deli and 'homemade' pickled veg.

Great shop for Japanese groceries and small housewares. Variety in dry goods is the standout for me here, lots of bottled sauce options, lots of dashinomoto variety and plenty of rice and noodle options. Also plenty of fresh and frozen goods with lots of take away options for fish, pickles, meats and tempura.
11 February 2021 12:43
Lots of Bento boxes and good selection of Japanese merchandise/food. If you want good selection you must come early!
25 January 2021 5:21
Many nice products from Japan or Japanese style products from North America. My girlfriend likes shopping here as it allows her to get things she misses from Japan
15 January 2021 11:42
Fresh Japanese foods deli daily including sushi and bento boxes at reasonable prices. Beauty products, and miscellaneous house items also in stock. With Covid19 shoppers required to wear masks inside store.

The best Japanese bendon I have ever tried in Canada. You need to be quick to pick one in lunch time. It sells quite fast.

Downsized.
All the OGs know Izumiya used to be bigger, much bigger.

Perhaps downsizing is the right way to refocus on their core-competencies, which are making fresh tempuras and lunch boxes. There isnt a more authentic joint in Richmomd than this, when it comes to a REAL bento box with good tempuras and real japanese food.

Keep it small, keep it specialized. I know my household will keep coming back for more.

One of my favourite places to go in Richmond to grab a quick and healthy meal. They have a large selection of sushi and warm food ready to be eaten. The spicy salmon Don bowl is a great deal for under ten bucks. Everything is made fresh daily.

The grocery store as well has a ton of fresh produce, meat and seafood. They also sell sushi grade tuna and salmon at a very reasonable price.

Bonus they have chips and snacks from Japan as well!
19 October 2020 1:11
Unique selection, and lots of grab and go food options. A good option for finding items that other stores don't carry.
16 October 2020 11:32
They have a great selection of authentic Japanese food and snacks. I love their sushi and bento boxes, it's always a treat when I can get there in time afterwork.
24 September 2020 22:06
Great selection for convenience. Niche products at reasonable price. Hot foods are awesome ore pandemic but that's just a circumstancial setback for the world.
27 May 2020 10:44
Would be nice if they updated their website for latest info. Opening times now 10: 30am. No bento or sushi. Customers required to wear mask avaliable for sale $1.25. No cash.

Great place def worth the visit. Hidden gem. Just drove there and saw the sign.
Place has temporarily closed for Two weeks. They will reopen on April 06th.

Even so the face care product was something trouble. They still response for it and refund to me. But, only one of staff rejected for helping me. Otherwise, I will come again.

A great place to go it you need a quick and inexpensive bite to eat for lunch. Gotta get there early as the food is made fresh and gets taken quickly. Also, a great little Japanese grocery store to get those hard to find ingredients you don't find elsewhere. Friendly staff.

One of the best and superbly clean Japanese food stores in Vancouver. This one is located ithe beautiful suburb t Richmond. One of the famed delicacies is tiny Anchovies that comes in vacuum clear plastic bags. These critters are as delicious as they are packed withe nutrients. A real humdinger to be incurred in your dinner menu. Pan fry them in organic olive oil till near brown, then mix in wild rice and chopped broccoli. Man, Let me share this: you can't ask for a better, healthier choice for dinner.
11 January 2020 6:47
Store was just okay. I was expecting to find a lot more variety of Japanese exports/products. The store also didn't seem very well organized.
17 December 2019 20:38
Lots of selection of Japanese food and kitchen items. Decent parking and location. Ready to eat food items as well
01 December 2019 6:50
There are lots of Japanese snacks and food, stationary, and ready to eat food. The quality of the food matches up with the price. The staff are nice and I would come back if I wanted to eat cheap bentos or sushi!
