Jade Fountain Restaurant

The menu has a decent selection. The food is okay but not what I expected - the pineapple is the sweet and sour pork tasted old and sour, the chow mein was what you would expect from a takeout stall, and the beaded shrimp was all breading with the smallest string of shrimp. The wonton soup was tasty though. The restaurant appears to be authentic Chinese, but I was disappointed in the quality of the food.

I have fond memories of this restaurant when I used to go years ago. However, today we went for dim sum and unfortunately it is not how I remembered it. The food was okay but not very good value. The bill came to $60 for 6 small dishes. I noticed that they charged for tea (even though we hadn't ordered it.it was already on the table). The servers were quite pushy with the dishes, repeatedly asking if we wanted things when we kept trying to say we just wanted to start with a few things at a time. They also brought us the wrong dish that we ordered off the menu.

Two of us sat down for dinner. We were served complimentary tea and ordered two combos, one vegetarian. We first received a small wonton soup and one Spring roll between us. By the second bite of spring roll we found ut was still cold in the centre. The soup was bland and not hot. My partners veg combo plate contained reasonably cooked yet flavourless unseasoned veg.
Her deep fried sweet n sour mushrooms were average, but the chow mein was just lousy. Cooked with far too much oil it was a greasy undelicious pile.
My own combo A also had the same poor chow mein and two unflavoured breaded deep fried shrimp. My small portion of sweet n sour pork was ok.
We paid $38 and left half on each plate. Very unsatisfied. Partner’s worst ever Chinese dinner…

Absolutely APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE! The lady at the front was disgustingly rude. Do not go there and save yourself the time and money. Never have I met someone so ill-mannered and ill-suited to work front of the house. Horrendous experience and complete disrespect to customers who ask to rectify a billing error. I can see now that it’s not the first time this lady has faced complaints for the same issue after reading ALL the reviews! But oh my, I didn’t expect her to be this offensive and unprofessional towards customers. Awful, just AWFUL.

Food is great, service is ok, from the elevator doors to the restaurant desperately needs a good cleaning.

Call it passive aggressive. We should have called them out on it. We’ve been going there for years and the food (dim sum) has always been decent and the service prompt. But not today, the service that is. Arrived just after 12. Two of us. We were seated at a booth. Two dim sum carts full of trays and unattended. We got two trays within five minutes but that was it. They pushed the carts around either end of the restaurant and opposite to where we were sitting. But nowhere near us. Then a bus load of tourists arrived and we were forgotten. One server walked by and I asked for a dish from a cart and she said ‘Wait’. We waited for half an hour since our initial two trays. We got up, paid for our two trays and left without tipping. Oh and the hostess at the till is clueless and has no skills at public relations. After all the times we’ve gone there, we have never been asked how our meal was, no thank you, no smile, nothing. Simple words and gestures such as these goes a long way with paying customers who don’t speak Chinese. I don’t know if she would have had a clue as to why we only ordered two dishes. The two of us usually consume a lot and they know it. It’ll be awhile before we go back.

We ordered the combo for 2 and the food was delicious. We had enough for lunch the next day.

Used to have great service but last visit was extremely disappointing. Daily dim sum brunch. I noticed it wasn't crowded at all. Normally there is a long line. Well given the poor service, it's not surprising!

Mediocre dim sum, the fried items are not fresh, they keep it in a warmer and the lady brings it around table to table and if it's not sold she puts it back into the warmer. The classic stir fried beef/flat rice noodle was very sad, no wok hei, almost like steamed noodles.

Used to be the best in town, the service has dropped dramatically, and now the cashier barks 'no tip' at you before you've even given a chance to decide tip amount. Portions are now half the size as only a year or two ago and prices are 1.5× at least.

Very slow service, 20 minutes wait before our order was taken. Another 20+ for appetizers and meal to start coming out. Will not go back.

Food is too expensive, got charged for service fee 15% automatically even though did not get service

Used to go Down Meet but changed post COVID. Jade now better dim sum through room very noisy.

Cool place.
About 15mins waiting time to get a table. It was a very busy place - definitely not a place for romantic dates because of the noisy environment.

Food was pretty below average, lots of MSG. Waitresses were great but The Cashier lady was very rude. READ THE RECEIPT CAREFULLY before paying. The Cashier gave us a wrong (and pricier) receipt and then got very agitated and impatient when we pointed it out.

Charged me $4.00 extra to separate to dishes from each other and then sent me the wrong order. Will not be ordering from here again

The place is dirty and unhygienic with crumbs of food lying all over the chairs and tables. The carpets are dirty, uncleaned for centuries! Food is horrible, greasy and it is not authentic Chinese food and is not fit for animal consumption. It is all BS food and very dirty. Food are rancid in taste as they are not fresh as well as overpriced.
For health sake, please don't contaminate yourself as anything eaten here will decidedly be harmful to your health.

Food always makes a visit worthwhile. Service, wait times can be curious, but the food remains the best, for me, Dim sum in Victoria.

Good food. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the robot waiter in action, but fun to actually see one.

As far as dim sum goes, this place is good. On busy days, the array the options is really broad. When I went during the last Lunar new years, they had items I had never seen before.
The service is random. After a couple visits where asking for something (drinks, chopsticks, soy sauce) and getting no result, I changed my tactic to asking _EVERY_ staff member for the same thing until random chance played in my favour. On a couple visits, I have seen them skip tables. They also decide when you're done your meal by no longer bringing carts to your table. We've named this place, "The Bunker, " because it's underground, windowless and has thready cellphone reception.
Called on May 20th, to ask if they would be open for dim sum on the weekend (eg. May 23rd). The response was "We don't know. You call on the weekend and find out. "
So: if you have spare time to explore the option yourself, give it a try as the staff don't know about their own restaurant. Despite all that, the food is good.

The owner woman who was payment at the till, she was very rude. I asked the servers for togo boxes several times, but they were busy so I didn't get it. I waited for half an hour. So I asked the lady at the till if I could get togo box. She frowned and shouted at me, "ask somebody! ” And she turned her head away. I've never met such a rude person in Victoria. I paid tip for the servers, but I hope the tip go to the servers 100% not for owner.

This was one of my favorite restaurant, but I will never visit it again.
