Jägerhof Restaurant

I absolutely love the cozy atmosphere and the quality of food and drinks at this place. The hosts are lovely and pleasant and the live music on weekends is a treat!

I made a table reservation one week before my birthday, I came only with my son.
We moved to Vancouver about a year ago because of the war in our country.
We chose this restaurant because there are good reviews and it is located near the place where we live.
When reserving a table, they clarified about my birthday and said that they had made a mark, but when we arrived, no one congratulated me, and it was a shame to see another person being congratulated on his birthday at the next table.
There was also no live music, we came at 8 pm.
In general, it was the saddest dinner for my birthday.
The food was delicious, we paid about $150 for two including tips

This place has a great atmosphere!
I didn't make a reservation and went around 5: 30, but since I had a reservation for 7: 00, they told me to finish eating before then and showed me a seat.
The servers are also really friendly

I had schnitzel that came with red wine sauce (probably Wiener) and Swiss raclette schnitzel with lingonberry sauce. The lingonberry sauce wasn't bad, but the red wine sauce that came with it was more delicious. It tastes like a thin fried pork cutlet, but the sauce is unique so it tastes different.

I really recommend Baron Bohemian for beer! It's a dark beer, but it doesn't have a bitter taste and has a sharp taste. It's really delicious. Enough to buy it at a liqueur shop

Always great food, friendly staff and that special atmosphere you won't find much in the Lower Mainland anymore.

I was so excited to try this resto institution in north van. We were a party of 6 for a family members’ 86th birthday- and it was a splurge night for us. The food and service was excellent. Here’s the catch— they advertise live music on fridays starting at 6pm. We were so excited to see the alpine clad band set up. Then the band members went outside and smoked in front of the very open window and door — no music and no sign of the band even starting by the time we left at 6.35pm and their cigarette smoke wafted strongly around our table while we ate. Double insult to us.
The food and service is amazing but please do better for air quality and advertising the actual start time of your band. We were so disappointed on a special night out. Boo.: (

This is the best spot for a German dinner. The staff are the best of the best, kind and the owner has a great singing voice. The food is simply delicious.

I’ve been coming here for 9 years fairly regularly and it never disappoints. This place is legit my favourite restaurant in all of Vancouver.

We’ve been coming to the Jagerhof regularly for years. The schnitzels, rouladen and other German/Austrian dishes are amazing and the servers are attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is also great, it’s lively with the piano music, but not so loud that it interferes with your table conversation.

The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly. We had a great time here with live music (even the owner was singing German songs every so often). We will definitely come back.

We visited this place for second time. Ordered chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it was amazing. Potatoes as side could be cooked better. We also ordered daily soup which was bacon and beans and it was mediocre, needed a little bit of spice. We had the chance to get there at 6 pm when Johny plays piano and makes the dinner such a fun and nice experience. Servers and management were helpful and nice too. I’ll go again.

Amazing place for when I miss home! Original German kitchen with good portions. Also they have amazing live music on weekends! Love Johnny piano and the Bavarian boys!

I went for dinner with two friends, one of them is a regular and now I know why. Our food was delicious, and the owner and staff were very friendly. I'll be back for sure!

What a wonderful dining experience at the Jagerhof! The staff are friendly and professional, and Christopher is a great host, funny and personable. Our dinners were excellent - we had the Jager Schnitzel and Beef Rouladen, followed by Black Forest cake and lemon cheesecake. If you are looking for satisfying, delicious German comfort food rich in family history, this is your place.

This restaurant is one of our family favourites and a neighbourhood favourite as well. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. We always have a great time and it feels like we are eating in the home of a great schnitzel chef. Definitely recommend this especially on weekends when they have the live music. You need to call in advance for reservations because it is very popular.

Truly amazing German meal that we had to celebrate our move to North Vancouver! We loved every bit of our meals and highly recommend eating here although we had take out which was INCREDIBLE! A must go to restaurant if you're in the North Vancouver area

I finally brought my family to have dinner at Jägerhof last night on New Year's Eve. It was a spontaneous decision since we had just left the Capilano Suspension bridge and were looking for a place to eat. I wanted to try this restaurants for months now but since we live in Richmond, we could only try it when we are in the area.

We arrived 15 minutes before the restaurant opened at 5pm. There were only my family and an other party of two girls waiting outside. By 5: 57pm, there were at least 10 parties waiting with us. When the owner finally opened the door to ask us for our names and reservation time, I told him that we didn't make any. So one by one, I watched as he let the other parties through the door because they all made reservations. After everyone else was seated around another 15 minutes later, he surprised my family with what I felt was the best table in the restaurant, the only window seat suited for a family of four.

The food and hospitality was absolutely impressive. After months of anticipation, the mouth watering pork hock with sauerkraut was exactly what I had been craving for. We also ordered a couple of bratwursts on the side and some German beer and a Vienna Apfelstrudel for dessert. 

We couldn’t possibly have had a better experience for a New Year’s Eve dinner as we did last night. Everything was perfect. Thank you Jägerhof for providing us with such a wonderful dining experience.

A wonderful German restaurant right by Lonsdale Quay with the friendliest staff and really great German food. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection; nice and thin with a beautiful crunch. I chose the schnitzel stuffed with mushroom and raclette cheese and it was delicious. I definitely recommend coming here (make reservation, they're busy!) and I'll definitely will go back to try some other German favourites!

I would have given 6 stars but.they don't have any Wolpertinger around the restaurant.and this make me very upset.
Anyway.food amazing and staff super friendly. Nice live music during the weekend.

Awesome. With Johnny Piano in the background we had a great family time and enjoyed the delicious cordon Bleu.

Very authentique. The owner is the chef and server. Super friendly. There’s a 100-year old piano in the restaurant and there is live performance on Friday nights. Highly recommend for authentic German food.

Super cute, cozy, and authentic family owned restaurant! The schnitzels are fantastic and really generous portions. My husband loves the Jagerhof platter because it’s huge, and has an assortment of meats. My favourite is the expo schnitzel with spaetzle (pictured). The live music on weekends really adds to the atmosphere as well!

A wonderful German restaurant. My Jager schnitzel was crunchy but moist. Upgraded to the spetzle, which was the right choice for me, although I have no doubt the potatoes would be good as well. The whole restaurant has a lively energy, especially with the love jazz Friday nights. The guy who I assume is the owner seems to really like interacting with people. In addition to a number of schnitzel options and other German fair, they have some interesting imported German beers. If you're coming on a Friday evening, expect it to be crowded. I'm assuming Saturday is the same.

Vibrant small room, friendly staff and delicious food. They also have a good selection of German beer. Live piano was a plus! Reservations are a must, at least on weekends, they get very busy.

Wonderful Bavarian food and the waiter was so friendly and efficient. He was one of just two wait staff and he kept everything rolling on this busy Sunday night. There was also an older gentleman playing the piano and our waiter even sang the last song. He had a beautiful voice. Thanks for the friendly service and entertainment!

The food was ok. Host was fine and fairly polite. Our server maybe was having a bad day cause she told us to “hurry up” and decide. She also kept grabbing my beer to see if was empty. The host also made a comment about cheap Chinese furniture which seemed a tad unprofessional. Other than that it was pretty ok.

Food was fresh and homestyle. Prices were good. Servings were plentiful and delicious. Live music was fun!

Our food was ok. However both ladies ordered a chicken dish: all sauce hardly any chicken at all. We should of said something.

Jägerhof is one of the more unique - close to authentic European restaurants I have been to in Vancouver. Its is not pretentious yet it does feel that you have travelled outside of Canada somehow. All the walls are filled with old style decors, even the sound of the telephone (which is one of those old one that hang on the wall) remind you of old movies.
The service is friendly and servers are very happy to help you with the extensive menu of European beers. The beers listed are not common ones so be sure to ask for recommendations.
The servers will update you in specials of the day that are not on the menu.
We tried a platter and the Jägerhof schnitzel. It is tasty and it did take me back to Vienna but it wont replace the ones I had there. I also loved the side mushroom sauce and the grainy mustard.
Unfortunately did not have room for dessert but I saw a black forest delivered to another table and it looked really good. So next time I known I have to plan strategically.
I do recommend any of the menu items in my pictures.

We visit this little restaurant at least once a year. It's simple, no frills menu is perfect on a cold night. The homemade spaetzle is a must. Good fiid, friendly staff, and live music. Just perfect for when you're in the mood for something different.

Good vibe, live music, schnitzel was good but the spatzle was like scrambled eggs. Definitely an interpretation of German classics.

Amazing food and fair price. Such a cute place! Friendly atmosphere. Service was lovely. Live music was very good. Do bring cash to tip the musicians when you leave (if you go on days with live music). We did not have cash on us at the time and felt quite bad because we would have loved to have tipped the musicians. Definitely will be coming back here!

We went there for the first time on a Friday night. We fell in love with it very soon. The food was perfect and tasty. Atmosphere was awesome. Everything was perfect.
If you’re a soup lover, try theirs. You’ll love it.

I picked up a huge order for myself and my family a few days ago. We all wanted to try something new. To our disappointment, the dishes were over salted, none them were labeled so we had to figure out what was what and it seemed that they used frozen vegetables in a few of the dishes. I paid close to $200 for this order and am shocked at the quality of the food I received. Would not recommend.

Went for dinner at Jagerhof last night was amazed by the authentic decor. Outstanding food as well customer service. Will definitely be back again very soon to try the other items they currently have on their menu.

I adore this place a lot.theres a special feeling. The cuisine is wonderful.the service is dynamic and the team is courteous. The pay is fair. I highly recommend.

My husband and I made a dinner reservation at this restaurant few days ago and it was one of the most pleasant experiences ever for us
The owner Christopher really knows how to make a lasting impression. He was wonderful to talk to on the phone and in person and made sure we were comfortable in our seating. Even when we were leaving, he made conversation with us and wished us good night. He really went over and beyond in enhancing our experience.
Our server, Melanie was a delight. She was extremely sweet and let us take our time with our dinner, without rushing us. She made great conversations with us too. The live music was extremely enjoyable. Lastly, the food and drinks were superb as well.
We are already looking forward to dining here again. Thanks guys for an awesome time

We had an amazing Birthday dinner for my husband. Great food, great service and great music. My husband left his 70$ bottle of rum that was a gift behind and the manager called us to let us know. They didn’t have to do that and we are very grateful. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience

My boyfriend had introduce me to this restaurant last Sunday and it was the best German restaurant I have ever went to the food was amazing and very delicious. I would come back to this restaurant again the staff were very friendly, efficient and polite.

Superb! The raclette schnitzel was the best schnitzel I ever had. The Apfelstrudel, güner Veltliner are really great, so is the Borscht. Will be back!

This restaurant is the one I like best. I eat in plenty of restaurants but to this one I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very amicable and the food they cook is so flavorful. I am always happy to have a decent dinner here. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Got take away from here tonight for the first time after loving dine in here. Food was just as delicious as it is when dining in. A great local independent spot worth supporting. Big love to the jagerhof crew.

The whole experience was great, the decor, staff, and of course, food. Went on a Sunday dinner and enjoyed some live piano.
The trio sausage was very good. As well as the trio chocolate later. Had a veal schnitzel as main course (was one of the sporadic items not in menu)

Great ambience. Good food. Not so friendly service.

If you know the menu and know what you want then I think it'll be a great experience. But unless you know the menu or have studied in advance then it might not be the case. In our case I'm not familiar to German food and our waitress didn't seem to be accustomed to that.

Also, make sure you are aware of the time limit currently, because we missed to order for desert because we had to leave.

If you haven't been to this place, you're really missing an amazing restaurant in North Vancouver. Go on Sundays, Johnny will play the piano while you enjoy lovely beers and very nice German dishes. Prost!
