The worst Chinese food I ever tried…

Is this serious? ? The food cooked at home is better than his.expensive, less service and poorer.spending money to buy bitter food

This is their eggplant with bean curd puff hot pot worth $25. And the other dishes taste terrible! Attitude is also very bad.

I've been to this place several times and overall I feel good. The style of the dishes is Shanghainese and many of the waiters are also Shanghainese. When you enter the restaurant, you will feel like you are back in Shanghai, with a sense of intimacy. Among the many dishes, I particularly enjoyed the crystal shrimp. Those who have never eaten it may wish to give it a try.

I am struggling between 3 and 4 stars as we have been visiting this restaurant for the past 3 years and the quality is not always consistent. Before they renewed their tenancy earlier this year, the food quality went downhill so much that really made us disappointing. But our most recent visit on a less busy weekday brought so many surprises.

Xiao lung bao 小龍包 has thin wrapper like paper enveloping soupy meat. The best ever that I had in this restaurant. The smoked duck 醬茶鴨 is tender and juicy. Braised Pork Knuckle 元蹄 is soft and gelatinous. Scallion oil noodles 蔥油拌面 is the simplest and tastiest noodle dishes there.  Hot & Sour soup got the right balance of different flavors.

After we paid the bill, we saw the owner walked out from the kitchen and we knew why we had such a delicious meal.

Wanted to have a nice Asian Cuisine Dinner, while in Burnaby, BC, “ BUT, TURNED AWAY”, asked to come back later. (1 hour) From what I saw, 1/2 empty tables, BECAUSE this restaurant was predominantly Asian clientele, I’m WHITE, and everyone starred when I walked in, we DID NOT RETURN. I would RATE THIS LOCATION “ZERO”!

As a cook at home, you can tell from the color and the texture of the ingredients, what is fresh and what isn’t. This is disgusting when we open the box we received from the restaurant.

That is exactly what i get if i keep my veggies in the fridge for days and try to reheat it….

Very good food. Very busy but l guess that is due to the food. Helpful in the selection of dishes.

The food was pretty tasty; however, the server was quite rude. Note that the restaurant seems to serve mostly larger groups, while the smaller tables (we were a group of 3) are mostly hidden at the back.

We came for lunch on a weekend. Not a lot of people when we arrived but afterwards people started piling in after 11: 30.

We ordered the drunken chicken, fried pork buns, steamed pork buns, Dan Dan noodles, stir fried Shanghai rice cakes with veggies and deep fried sweet and sour fish.

The drunken chicken tasted pretty strong of alcohol but the chicken lacked chicken flavour. It was very bland. Very smooth and soft but very bland.

The fried pork bun were okay. Not as good as the ones you find st crystal mall. There was a lot of soup, skin wasn't too thick but the meat was too tough. The soup was very sweet but tasted a bit too much like msg.

The steamed pork buns had the same soup as the fried pork bun soup and the same meat as well. The skin broke too easily on these

The Dan Dan noodles were probably one of the most underwhelming Dan Dan noodles I've had. There was very little peanut flavour. The sauce was way too watery and soupy. There was very little noodle. Definitely avoid this dish

The stir fried Shanghai rice cakes with veggies were VERY SALTY.the rice cakes were over cooked not much chew left. There also wasn't enough of the veggies. Definitely avoid this dish.

Deep fried sweet and sour fish was another disappointing dish. Fried till not crispy but almost hard. The sauce didn't have enough ketchupy sweet flavour but instead it was more on the sour side. The fish itself had a very strong seafoody taste (in a bad way). Avoid this dish

Overall way more misses than hits. Unfortunately because there aren't many Shanghai options in this area, this restaurant is one of your only options. The food portions are small but their prices are also lower than others. Flavours across the board were not very good. Wouldn't recommend this place

Food is better but smaller, service is good, parking lot full easy. The best deal is the large won ton chicken soup, good enough for whole table of 8. The special Bbq duck is a must have. It is the traditional Shanghaiese food restaurant.

Consistently good quality and never disappoints. This place might be partially considered as a hole in the wall, as it's very unnoticeable but either way it's definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants around town.

Awesome, authentic Shanghaiese restaurant that checks every flavor box. You will not believe the variety of dishes available; try something you wouldn’t usually order! You won’t be disappointed.

Have dinner here with a group of friends and it was most enjoyable. The 8 treasure duck and the specialty chicken have to be preordered and these two dishes didn't disappoint. Very reasonable price too as the total came to $251 before gratuities. Regular order of the rice balls with wine was 8 balls only. There were 9 of us and we were served 9 balls, one for each without extra charge. Service was great and we did have our vaccine codes checked.

After the pendemic food quality and quantity has gone down didn't taste and feel right like before

Food is not that good. Shanghai food is not hard to cook and this only deserve a 1 star. Food get cold quick. There are way better Shanghai food in BBY or RMD.
One thing I don't like is that they close at 9pm and they will start their closing procedures at 835.and THEY WILL FORCE YOU TO LEAVE AT EXACTLY 9PM. I never been to a restaurant that need you to leave right at their closing hours.they will give you the bill at 8: 45 and come and give you box as well to pack up.
Staff has bad attitude.

Food was very salty. It isn't as good as it used to be and the servers did not scan our QR codes. Just looked at them. I hope they change their policies.

If I could give a zero star as my lowest rating, I would. I ordered food via Uber Eats from this restaurant. When I picked up the food from the front door, sauce spilled everywhere. The driver left me a note saying it was spilled when he picked up from the restaurant. He requested to have it changed but the restaurant said they were too busy to accommodate for his request. I was tracking the order from the Uber Eats app and the driver did stay extra time at the restaurant, probably trying to get the restaurant to fix my order.

When I opened up my order, one food item was missing as the restaurant didn’t check the order properly. (See the photo that they didn’t cross off the pan-fried pork bun.). Not only the seafood hot and sour soup was neither spicy and sour, it also came with a little fly. (See the photo images).

I will never dine in or order take out from this restaurant.

Food is so so. If you want eat spicy food you will not satisfied, the stream dumping is not good!

Honestly, one of the worst Shanghai food.a lot better choices in bby and rmd.taste very bad.the tofu taste like water.

I was introduced to this place by a foodie friend who visited previously. A great choice! I was surprised to see that it’s located inside the Best Western Hotel on Kingsway. (A bonus – free parking). We arrived at 2 pm and was advised to order quickly before the kitchen closed at 3. We didn’t feel rush to leave. Overall, we were all impressed with the food quality, portions, and pricing. We had their Xiao Long Bao, Salted Pepper Spareribs (more meat than bone with just enough spiciness) ; egg white and shrimp on top of broccoli (sufficient shrimp) ; bean curd wrap (delish), half chicken (not dry), and fried rice wasn’t too dry). Their menu has a big selection in both lunch and dinner sizes including dim sum items.

Nice ambiance and it’s clean. Service was prompt. We’ll be back to try other dishes.

Ordering on Uber Eats was the easy part. I was notified at 6: 50pm my order was ready to pick. Perfect timing because I was about to park the car at restaurant. Unfortunately, only 5-out-of-the-6 dishes were ready. The finally remaining dish wasn't finished until after 7: 20pm.

Talk about cheating the Uber Eats system. No accountability or acknowledgement on the severely delayed order after inquiring with server and later on with a manager. Restaurant was operating under Covid guidance but had a handful of unseated table.

By the time I arrived home, food was reheated (microwaved) for our family dinner. So much for Father's Day!

Definitely a place to try! Try to make reservations if you plan to attend during its peak hours.

The lunch is very good for Shanghai dim sum, reasonable price and many choices. Dinner is not as good as Cantonese style. Lunch is 5 stars while dinner is worth 3 stars.

They have some rare Shanghai dishes and desserts, such as deep fried egg w/red bean paste, beef tripe w/chili, and orange peel chicken. But their lineups can be long and price is a bit on the high side

Best authentic Shanghainese restaurant in Vancouver! Love everything on the menu! Pricing is reasonable!

Authentic Shanghaiese food. Great food, great service, AMAZING value price wise. Definitely a hidden gem in the local Chinese community

The food is pretty good and priced reasonably. It's in the same building as Best Western Plus that probably use the restaurant to serve daily continental breakfast. Their SHANGHAI-STYLE SOUP DUMPLINGS—xiao long bao is very nice! If I have one recommendation for them is for the staff to not look grumpy constantly.smiling once awhile can make the atmosphere way nicer!

Tasty food! It came in less than 5 minutes after ordering, Even though the restaurant was fairly packed. Friendly service.

Decent Shanghai restaurant but their dishes are somewhat on the small side. Price is reasonable for the portion size.

The food is average but the service is bad from top to bottom. The first person that greeted you (Boss lady) is unfriendly and rude. Most waiters at the restaurant do not smile.

Delicious food and good services. Pay attention not to parking at reserved spots for hotel guests. In addition to surface parking (in front of restaurant), underground parking available for restaurant. Make reservation beforehand to avoid disappointing.

Don't get the shumai, it's just filled with sticky rice. The other dishes were pretty good although a few, like the xlb, were more sweet than I like. I think that is just the style they are going for.

Authentic Shanghai food. If you take your Shanghai parents/grandparents here, they will approve. They have Shanghai dishes you would otherwise not be able to order at other nearby places. Obviously I would prefer slightly bigger portions but I have to say their prices are fair given the market. They also take credit cards as well (what? ! In an Asian restaurant? !: D). They are in the same area as the Best Western plus Hotel and have underground parking spots (a bit dingy looking parking lot).

Good tasting food but super rude staff! The staff are inattentive.it took them ages to bring me an iced water.the lady with short hair that was wearing a blueish/white blouse is terrible.she left our table when we haven’t even finished placing our order.she always seems like she is rushing to leave.as well, she brought our bill over when we weren’t even finished with the food.

It is a Shanghainese stylish Chinese restaurant. They kept around 90% of original Shanghai food. What I guess is they might try their best in Vancouver. The price is fair compared to the others in Richmond. You should visit at least once to try their best food instead of going to Shanghai.

All foods were good，espcially the fried bun which got to the soup running inside，and were not expansive too！

Good food but service is weak. My friend seems disappointed but she finished the whole sweet and sour pork

Serving delicious Shanghainese food, price reasonable, plenty of parking spots, place is clean and tidy. Only comment is insufficient waitress.

This restaurant was quite busy for a Wednesday night but the service was really quick and the food was good.

If you’re staying at the hotel, the entrance is not the same as the breakfast one - go around to the other side.

Good Chinese food. A nice assortment of dishes to mix things up from the usual Chinese dishes. Underground parking but no elevator, just a steep set of stairs so don't make your elderly parents walk. Just drop them off at the front door. 5 stars because I didn't pay.
