James is a true craftsman. A few months ago, I left an antique leather briefcase with him to replace a handle that had torn and he made one that matched the color and was sturdier than the original. It was very affordable so when I decided I should replace the strap of an expensive pocketbook with a longer one, we brainstormed together and came up with a plan to repurpose a belt that he had for sale to make the new handle. It was ready in 2 days and looks great!

Always fixes what needs repairing and keeps shoes working far past their "expected" life.

I've had 2 separate experiences here. The first was great, he fixed my lightly torn MK leather shoes very nicely and polished them. The second was not good. I brought my favourite light brown leather& suede shoes in and he polished them dark brown. Different shoe, very upsetting. I came back a few days later and they were back to normal. I paid 15 for a cleaning pretty much, nothing was really done except the removal of a darker colour he put on.

WOW! Thank you so much for saving my favourite snowboarding boot! I wasn’t able to tighten them as all of the shoelace loops had worn out.

You’re a miracle worker and I am beyond grateful for your time and skill at giving my boot a new life:)

This used to be David's Shoe Repair. It was great and was here for years. David retired and the folks who he sold the place to are an elderly couple and it has gone massively downhill. Cheap replacement hardware that often doesn't even match the piece they replace, bad quality work and awful customer service. Went once and never will again.

Another perfect resole on my cowboy boots (the second time) and mended my leather purse good as new. Highly recommend.

I brought in a black Gianni Versace wallet which was fine but I thought it could use a bit of a shine. I showed it to the owner, he recommended a $15 dye from the shelf. I double-checked with him that it was the right product and was pleased that the mild reconditioning of my (not cheap) wallet would be so inexpensive.

To make a long story short, the dye turned my wallet a bronze-brown. I left the inside of the wallet the original black colour because the colour change was so alarming that I wanted to show the repair shop owner and get further instructions.

Are you kidding me? When I showed him my now two-toned wallet, he said what’s the problem? The bottle says black and your wallet is black, pointing to the original black that was left on the wallet. I tried to clarify that, no, the product turned my wallet brown where it was painted on…we went through this dance for 20 minutes while he pulled out a piece of white paper and put the black dye on, then pulled out a white piece of leather.but he refused to put the black dye on a black piece of leather. I painted a black area of my wallet with the dye right in front of him and it turned brown. STILL, he was doing everything to deny that this was his issue. I told him that he was being dishonest—NO effect. Wow. Mind-blown. Learn from my story and the other reviewers, save your tears.

I spent around 10 minutes talking about repairs I wanted on 2 pairs of shoes.
Simple and minor repairs
He still could not understand what I wanted.
If you are going to operate a business where you are customer facing, at least have a basic understanding of English.
I left and would not recommend this place

They have physically attacked a patron. That's pretty much all you should need to know to avoid the place but read on for more backstory.

This used to be David's Shoe Repair. It was great and was here for years. David retired and the folks who he sold the place to are an elderly Chinese couple. The wife has a few choice phrases down but otherwise they know very little English.

I figured I would try them out and had them install a replacement piece of hardware on my bag. When I came to pick my bag up they had put on a piece that in no way matched the other pieces on the bag or what we had discussed. I told them to take the piece off and I would be on my way. No acknowledgement of the issue and they go straight to just asking for money. The wife then begins aggressively trying to grab my bag out of my hands with no intention other than to extract payment. Not happening as the bag was quite valuable. What I didn't expect was them attacking me in order to grab the bag.

So I got the pleasure of fending off these two doofuses over a cheap metal loop worth a few cents wholesale. Got the hell out and got into my car as they didnt have the language skills to be reasoned with. Got the police involved and sent them the piece back by mail. Zero stars really isn't low enough for these idiots.
