Johnny’s on Oak Restaurant Vancouver

The food was fantastic!
I had the eggplant with spaghetti and it was amazing.
Can’t wait to come back and they the other menu options.

For dessert the Bacio Caramelo (which by the way means Caramel Kiss) was the perfect way to end the meal.

The portion is good too, I have some leftover for my lunch tomorrow (or maybe my snack later tonight).

The chicken burger was the best I’ve ever had. It’s ginormous and delicious! Calamari and beers are good too. Lasagna was just ok. Server was friendly and conversational. Atmosphere is a bit on the quieter side as is typical in this area. Will be coming back again.

We tried the fried chicken with truffle honey for the first time and it was awesome. Got a spanakopita and a ham and pineapple pizza and it’s like I had a slice of a memory. My family has been eating here since I think 1990 maybe before that and Alex and Kathy were the owners, now it’s their son Johnny and his wife Connie and they too are such lovely people. I have also worked here when I was 18/19 years old and it was a pretty fun job. I have had my fair share of pizza here, but I think it’s to be noted that it still tastes just as good as it did 35 years ago.

The best grilled meat I’ve had in years! I had Chicken souvlaki and loved it. The salad had lots of feta and all good Greek salad ingredients. I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo.

The food was amazing the owner offered us free desert but 2 of us were to full so the 3rd got a cheesecake slice

Food and service were great! The only down side was the loud hip hop/ head banger music for a Sunday evening. Detracted from the atmosphere.

Came for a late lunch, and was pleasantly surprised. Good service, kind staff. The food was good, the calamari was my favourite. When I asked for takeout, they didn’t have the cut of steak I wanted due to late delivery, so they offered a better one for the same price. Great!

Hard to complain. Service was excellent, price was good, food was good. Would happily return. Happy to see a place in this area keeping going, I unfortunately feel the Cambie/Fairview area is suffering lately.

Recently renovated. Family owned. I am a fan of the old school food. If you love good food, this would be a great choice. Took the kids, and wife. We all agreed, very good.

Their greek food is fabulous! Pizza is to die for! Very yummy great frienfly service feels like a quaint neighbourhood restaurant.just missing a good pale ale for us folks not into IPAs.cute lityle patio out front in the summer too.this place is a real gem.

Not always the greatest experiences. Tried to explain to them, but they didn't really want to listen. There are enough 4 and 5 star reviews to keep their rating high and my words undesirable, it seems. I won't be clarifying or contacting, so please don't ask

Great "family table" atmosphere. Pizza is some of the best in the city. Warm friendly staff and a very personable owner.

Nice little locally owned restaurant. Has happy hour & daily drink specials. Air conditioned. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of Greek/Mediterranean dishes. Went there for their zucchini sticks and was sad to see they were no longer on the menu.

It’s a good place if you want to go with your family and everyone wants different food, the menu has a variety of different options, and all we have tried were very delicious.we had chicken Parmesan, burger and spinach for appetizer, the lady who was working there was super friendly, highly recommended.

Me and my friends come here all the time after work and it’s the perfect spot for wine and pizza. The pizza is to die for and the staff is amazing. Highly recommend!

We wandered into Johnny’s before attending the Vancouver Canadians game. Connie, our server greeted us with a big smile and turned out to be fantastic! Attentive, friendly and engaging. The menu had plenty of options, chicken souvlaki was delicious. Bathroom cleanliness is my gauge of care for a restaurant and Johnny’s had fresh decor and cleanliness. This is now our go to spot for pregame and have discovered all the staff are fantastic

This place is a hidden gem where, not only can you get food made with passion and love, you are also treated with 5 star service from the waiting staff. I went today on Father's Day, which you can imagine is testing the strengths and weaknesses of any establishment, but these people made my day. I will definitely be going back, can't wait to try some of the other dishes and soak up the amazing environment that is Johnny's!

Best baked lasagna, esp with the embedded meat balls! Same recipe from Best Neighbour's. Same owners anyhow.

I very much wanted to like my meal from here, but lol. When you order ragu over papperdelle and get a pile of oily ground meat over rigatoni, have to call foul. Hope other menu items are better, but I won't order again.

Take out order consisting of a large BN Special pizza, Caesar salad and Baklava.
Salad was mediocre at best and for the size it was over priced for a few lettuce leaves, croutons and a bit of dressing.
Pizza was just OK, overcooked and very salty. Again, over priced for what it was.
Baklava was soggy and for some reason it was also salty.
Food was consumed within 5 minutes of picking up so can't blame the poor quality on taking too long to eat it.
Don't know if we just picked a bad day but as we don't live nearby we won't be returning again.

So happy we decided on a whim to come here for lunch. Amazing service, top-notch pizza, and great atmosphere. So good we ordered takeout for dinner. We will definitely be back!

Service was amazing but the comedy kinda sucked, very weak line up from cutie pie comedy except from a few. Was expecting better comedy than that!

Update: This family run business has now been passed down to the next generation. So Best Neighbours is now Johnny's. It's great to see some updates to the restaurant including the menu. Yet many of their classic dishes continue on. Prices have changed but portions are good.

2017: True to its name, this is largely a local restaurant. There is a good selection of regular menu items including some Greek. Decent lunch prices and portions in a quiet setting. Street parking only. #letsguide

We love this place! Happy hour wine is fantastic and the food is always consistent and delicious. Staff makes the place, Eva is a lovely server and awesome! Had her a few times now and she makes the experience so enjoyable. I highly recommend for Greek and pizza!

Just was there for my first time and the food and service was amazing. Kailyn was our server and she was on the ball and attentive! Great restaurant!

First time coming here and wow I was blown away! The food came so quick, and was delish and fresh, and the staff was so welcoming and friendly. Will for sure be coming back.

If I could give the quality of food for this place a 0 I would. I ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger with Regular Fries and I was absolutely appalled at what I uncovered. The fries were literally no longer fries as they were more than soaked in oil - couldn’t even eat them because oil would pour out in one single bite. The burger was less than ordinary - for the price tag of 22$+ it is subpar - I have had better burgers at Macdonalds. The beef was over cooked and drenched in oil, with barely any filings in the burger to make it seem appropriate for the price you pay.
I feel sick to my stomach after what I hoped would be a good dinner but definitely under-delivered. Maybe they have better food on the menu based on other people’s reviews, but I will be sure never to order from here again. Pictures speak for themselves. I hope the kitchen staff reconsider how they cook a burger and fries.

My server did not know what the restaurant had on tap. After ordering a beer off their menu, the server came back to tell me that they did not have it. And I was charged for this beer on my bill. The manager refunded me in cash. Cute patio tho.

I ordered for the first time from Johnny's yesterday I am new to the area. The order arrived quicker then I expected which was great because I was starving! The portions were big, the French onion soup was the best I've had, I'm craving more. It came with a slice of garlic bread and two free drinks. I love Lasagna so I've tried many so I can be picky. I wish the lasagna would of been more saucy it was a bit dry, and the cheese on top was too thick for my liking it was like inches of cheese and not as much meat and noodles, I would of preferred less cheese, but I still enjoyed the lasagna. Overall I would recommend and I would order again from this restaurant!

Love this place! The food is amazing and always top of mind when we order take out. They are fast to answer and delivery is always prompt. My favorite is the moussaka dinner.

Always such an excellent experience. Friendly staff, accommodating requests, speedy delivery. So lucky to have this gem in the neighborhood.

There's a positive buzz going around town about this place.so I went in to try it out. I had the Wagyu Beef Burger and it was without-a-doubt the best burger I've ever eaten.it was so tender and flavourful! I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu. The serving staff is very friendly and detailed. Even the owner came out to ask how the meal was. SUPERB, AMAZING.will definitely be back.

We've been coming here for years and we had another great experience. With two little ones asleep in the car we ordered takeout (again). Everything was delicious! The staff is always courteous and the food is consistently great. Go find your new favorite menu item. See you soon!
