John's Chicken House

My first time ordering here and I got the 9 piece family meal that came with 2 medium sides, medium gravy and large fries. I initially called my order in based off some old photos of the menus that were posted by another reviewer, where the 9 piece meal was $31.99. I paid $41.99, after tax it was $44 and a tip brought it to $50. (Don’t come for me with the tip, everything is really expensive right now).
The chicken was freshly fried but really under seasoned. I asked for half reg and half spicy and just like everyone else mentioned, spicy ain’t spicy. But it was still quite enjoyable.
Fries were good and crispy, and stayed crispy after a drive home, not soggy!
Will I order again? Probably.it’s close to home and was tasty. But for $50 it will be a very special occasion treat.
They get bonus points for an absolutely stunning live tree in the corner that’s currently blooming with these large flowers that look like magnolias

My 4 stars is strictly based on the price change because I was genuinely expecting $31.99.

A cab client had highly recommended this place & she sure was right on the - Had the 3 PC Dinner Combo (spicy, not spicy at all, just crispier) coleslaw, potato salad, fries & wedges - Their are ULTIMATE - I think the next time I'm in here I'll ask whether its possible to have the fried fresh.

The house is in Coquitlam, and it takes about 30 minutes to John's Chicken, but it's my favorite place to go for a drive!
I ate it for the first time through an acquaintance in Canada, and it became my children's favorite chicken. Whenever I want chicken, I go for a drive, but I can eat leg and thigh parts that Koreans like at a cheaper price than breast meat! I remember saying that I was eating juicy chicken for the first time and I ate it while being amazed.
Even though I deliberately went around 4: 00, a time when there were few people, I saw that locals were constantly coming, so I thought, Ah~ this restaurant is right~
I eat togo at the store, but next time I have to take a picture! It's a pity that I don't have a picture because I was busy eating it after I went there.
Instead, the review concludes by quoting an advertisement phrase.
Why haven't I been to John's Chicken yet? Come on, try it!

Very disappointed with this food given the restaurant has 4 stars on here. The Chicken was tasteless. The spicy chicken was not spicy at all and the original chicken was even worse! The prices for the meals are outrageous given the quality of the food. Only reason it got 2 stars was because the potato salad was ok.

I liked the french fries. If you do not build expectations, then an ordinary place with decent fast food

Chicken tasted and smelled like fish. I did not get sick. Partner was very. Weird they dont serve fish that I am aware of so bacteria seems the only reason for the smell/taste. So.yeah.no, wont be back.

Best fried chicken place I bet! I have traveled many places and i am a foodie. You will never be disappointed with their menu especially the crispy spicy chicken. I have been a customer for 20 years, same ownership hard working very nice people and same good quality food and service. And I still crave for thier chicken. Differnt name now but same food and same ownership. This is the must try restaurant.

Tried it for first time and great experience. Chicken was so fresh and fries were amazing. Price was reasonable. Nice service. Would recommend.

John is always friendly and has a smile on his face food is always good not as greasy as KFC I would highly recommend you try this small business / update John has retired and the business is being run by a Young couple who are just as friendly and always have a smile in there face and food is just as good as always great small business to support locally.

It was our first time and in all honesty, the chicken tastes great. It's a simple place selling fried chicken. The cashier was very friendly and accomodating. It may not look as inviting as other places but we wanted to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. Will definitely come back. ️

Very unfriendly service, though prompt as the place was empty. Not cheap, and moderately unkempt (with a cheap fast food decor). Food was good with good portions (chicken burger, fries, mozzarella sticks, gravy), but the fixins in the chicken burger were weak (a piece of lettuce and a Kraft single for cheese), and the fries are unsalted. Overall, a less than pleasant experience, but the food nearly makes up for it.

Cant express how Bad the service and overall experience was. Location is dirty, food is greasy and the cashier just rude. If you request any change, they want to charge you- and a lot! Food was so bad, i just tossed it into the garbage, and i know better to just not go there! I just hope i dont get food poisoning from what i had! Zero stars I'm afraid- not sure how they are even open!

Never had a bad meal. Quick service, good prices, and stellar staff. I'll go out of my way to eat here.

Decided to try this spot cause I drive by all the time but was disappointed. Gave 3 stars cause the chicken was really good but everything else was just ok.

Been coming here for years. Great chicken and our go too. Want crispy then order the spicy. The original is more like KFC original but with better flavor.

Order their spicy chicken sandwich and you'll love it as well.

Will definitely be back for the chicken, everything else was only so-so. Not bad, but not amazing. Ask for salt packets if you're gonna order fries

Dropped 60$ here and was really disappointed. Fries aren’t crispy, they are no name brand ripple cut fires with not a single grain of salt on them. Popcorn chicken tastes funky, mozzarella sticks were still cold in the middle and tasted freezer burnt. Checked strips were good, nice and crispy and tasty. Gravy pretty good too. Deep fried gyoza was meh.

Just ordered a 7 piece chicken and fries all the chicken is dark meat like really 5 thighs and 2 drumsticks will never go there again so disappointed ️

Super juicy chicken, good fries, good gravy. If you're in the mood for fried chicken you can't go wrong with John's.

Even in Covid-time it is possible to serve paper straw "in pack" ofcourse if you want to do so. No trash bin around the restaurant. Chicken was too greasy.

Been going here seems like over 20 years.still liking it. Can buy cold chicken which is great for a road trip. Like the teriyaki bowl as well.

The chicken was average - 2.5 / 5.
The fries were average - 2.5 / 5.
The gravy was gross - 1 / 5.
The homestyle buns were gross 1 / 5.

Finished my work at 8 pm, went to this place place around 8: 05 pm. They were closed and were finishing their work. Owner saw my outside and allowed me to come inn for the order. I really liked that thing as i was super hungry.

John's Chicken House offers a fast and friendly service. Prices are very reasonable.
Just the crinkle fries alone are worth the.
The chicken reminds me of a well known fried chicken place from the East Coast.

This guys prices are absolutely insane! KFC is pretty gross but at least it's affordable. There wasn't a single person who came into John's while I was there gasping at his prices.
Needless to say, I left with no purchase.

Perhaps an off day seasoning was not its usual amazing and chicken tasted like the oil was getting old.otherwise good and Johns normal cheerie service

We love going to John's. The owners are always kind and the food is always good. The only complaint I ever have is that the fried could be hotter. We've eaten fries, fried chicken, salad, buns, and macaroni wedges.

My first time going there, we were charged 42 dollars for 12 small pieces of chicken and a side of mashed potatoes with gravy. Not crispy or great tasting at all. Thought I would take my business to a smaller restaurant in my neighborhood that isn't KFC or Popeyes. I won't be back. I feel ripped off. I was overcharged for a cheap chicken dinner. I'm not rich and I don't have 42 bucks for what I could have cooked at home for half the price and twice the effort.

Chicken was overcooked and we all got sick and this was the only thing we had the same. Fries were good however. Chicken outside was like shake and bake minus texture or flavor. It also fell off easily. Gravy was DISCUSTING, my husband eats anything almost and he wouldn't touch it. Not worth the price whatsoever. Feel bad because I always root for small businesses. But I cant pretend it was remotely decent, this place is a huge "no" for me. Overpriced, tasteless food. One Star only for the decent fries

I heard they used to be good but have new owners. Unfortunate, hopefully they improve.

Johns Chicken house is the BEST fried chicken in Langley. The flavour is fantastic, the owners are super nice, and they’re quick.

Their chicken is a better flavour than KFC and way less greasy. Tons of fries, and their gravy is very flavourful. They also have other items on the menu, but I haven’t tried those yet. Their biscuits are great, as well. They have some great family packs that I recommend, when you’re in a pinch but need a good meal.

The restaurant was clean and tidy. The owner even offered my son a rice krispy square, which was very kind of him.

I can not recommend them enough. Give them a try!

1st time visiting John's Chicken House.the chicken was perfect. We ordered regular and crispy, loved them both! Fries, gravy, mac salad, cheese sticks, fried wonton and biscuits were so so good!
I live an hour and a half away but next time we are in the area, will def
stop in!

My experiences so far have been an unusually excellent value/quality experience. I enjoy the 3 piece special (I believe 8.99, with fries). The spicy option is not at all spicy, but much better imo because that is where you’ll find the crispy-fried skin.

A perfect fried chicken restaurant should consist of good gravy, amazing chicken, and good fries. John’s chicken has absolutely bomb fried chicken. The crispy-ness is there, the flavour is on point, and the chicken is juicy and tender. The gravy though, was lackluster. Not enough complexity to mask the strong taste of salt and MSG? The fries were fresh and crunchy. Would recommend over KFC.

The gravy was so-so, but the chicken is some of the best fried chicken around. Just get the chicken!

Legit best fried chicken I’ve ever had. (Namely the spicy selection). Consistent and amazing as always.

We got the 12 Piece Family Deal with a mix of
Spicy and Regular chicken. The regular chicken was delicious and crispy, better than Church’s and Mary Brown’s. We didn’t really care for the spicy though, it wasn’t crispy or very spicy. The sides were pretty average, nothing special there. We will be back though.

I really enjoy the chicken breast teriyaki bowl, the owners are really nice and food is consistently good.

Very good first experience tonight. The same order of chicken my girlfriend and I ordered would have 20+ minutes longer at any other competitor. The taste and food quality puts kfc to shame. Would certainly recommend and will definitely be going back

Great place. Excellent food and they replaced my 3 pieces of leftovers which I left behind and were thrown out. A prince of a guy, although he said it was not his usual policy. You must try his chicken!
