Absolute scam. Incorrect diagnosis, shoddy service, impossible to communicate with, and overall a waste of money. There's even several class-action lawsuits for things that should be warrantied that no one takes accountability for.

Journey VW misdiagnosed a simple sunroof leak, and their shoddy solution (replacing the drain hoses) & subsequent water testing has left me with new (expensive!) electrical damage that they won't claim responsibility for. To date, I have spent $1872 on incorrect diagnoses, the issue has gotten worse, and I will now be forced to pay anywhere from $2000-$8000 for electrical repairs - cost is still tbd. I have reached out to management and after 5 days I haven't received a response with any substance.

Context:

During a hail storm in August I noticed a leak in the sunroof of my 2015 Golf TSI, as my roofing fabric became soggy & stained. I have a family member with the same make & model who encountered the same issue, encouraged me to take it to a dealership, and noted that leaky sunroofs among this model (& others) was common, and even part of a class-action lawsuit against VW.

At this dealership we discovered that because my car had logged over 100,000 KMs, the warranty was void (ridiculous because sunroofs have nothing to do with a car being worn out, so there should be no KM limit). After after a frustrating interaction with the service associate, Ali, I had to pay out-of-pocket for a diagnosis & repair of the drain hoses in the headliner. It took 10 days to complete and during that time it was extremely difficult to receive updates. I was told my car would only be in the shop for 2-5 days, but instead I was left in the dark about when I would get my car back. In the end it was $1200 - expensive, but I was under the impression that I at least wouldn’t experience leakage anymore and I had some peace of mind.

2 months later, in October, I took it on a road trip and was met with some rain, which was when we realized water was leaking through to the ceiling fabric again.

Since the drain hoses were under a 2-year service guarantee, I took it back to this location for servicing. Luckily they didn’t charge me and it was a quick experience - my car was back within 2 days.

45 minutes after I picked it up, while I was on my way home & sitting in traffic, I was startled suddenly by 4 yellow warning lights & notifications popping up. I pulled over and kept getting the notifications.

They were the car skidding one, the ABS, the tire pressure, and the airbag. Very alarming. In the days that followed, the red 'check brakes' light came on.

Concerned, I called Journey VW and Ali told me that those issues didn’t sound like they have anything to do with the repair they just performed, but I could bring it back for a diagnosis.

After my experience in August, I wasn’t in the mood to travel back there again for sub-par service after I just got back, and I didn’t appreciate that he didn’t claim any accountability for what was almost certainly the dealership’s fault. If something like this is happening 45 minutes after it’s been picked up, it’s highly unlikely that my car just 'coincidentally' ran into major mechanical issues that weren’t flagged to me.

Frustrated, I brought this to another VW dealership ($672 for parts & labour at this other location because we thought the wheel sensor was the problem - it was not), and now they have told me because of the mass water testing Journey VW has done to test the sunroof drainage, it has significantly damaged the electrical wiring near the hood release lever (drivers foot, left side) with a current estimate of $4,000+ currently being asked for to properly re-diagnose, fix the leak, and fix the electrical damage Journey VW caused.

Overall, I have never received such horrible service as I experienced at Journey. I was gaslit about the problem, faced with expensive invoices that caused larger problems, management is doing nothing, and almost every time I call the service line I get redirected to their receptionist.

Do not give this location your money.

I would give Journey VW in coquitlam a rating of 10 stars if I could. A big thank you to Kelly, Antonio, and Farhad for the excellent service and looking after my used 2006 red "salsa" jetta tdi that i purchased from Journey VW. You stood behind your product with your warranty and fixed the issue. No haggling or bartering - just good old-fashioned customer service who honoured their commitment to me, their customer and their product. I can't thank them enough for getting me back on the road again with no cost to me. I will be back when im ready to upgrade to my next VW. Deb:)

Everyone at the dealership was amazing. Farhad in particular was very clear and professional with all of my questions, if/when I replace my car I will definitely come back to him. Paul on finance was also amazing and clearly communicated everything.

I recently purchased a brand new 23’ Tiguan and it was the most pleasant experience I’ve had in a car dealership. Paul in the finance office was very transparent with the paper work, and he gave me a great deal on the warranty.

Had a great experience buying my 2023 Taos last week. My sales person Nima was very knowledgeable and communicative, always provided a quick response to all my texts/emails. He walked me through all the features and got me familiar with car before I drove home. Everyone in the process was super friendly and helpful so I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Horrible service department.
They sell you many warranty at the time of purchase but when it comes to the service, they make every single excuse.
Been waiting for a touchup. We should be covered under my warranty for four months.
Every time I go back there, they make an excuse. They change their service employees very much. They are understaffed and you can’t even get to them via phone.

The staff was very friendly! Anthony was the sales rep that sold me my 2016 Golf R, he is a super friendly guy, easy to talk to and get along with! I highly recommend anyone looking to get a vehicle, come to Anthony he will make the process feel as easy as 1,2,3.

They will treat you good for a bit once they have your money, have fun. Your parts will come a month late and then they will forget to call you. So you have to waste your time and call them to make sure the part is in and you can book an appointment. I bought a brand new car from them and it was good at first than once stuff started to happen I was left to spend time and money on something because they don't know how to do their job

I highly recomend immigrants to reach out this place if you just arrived and you are looking for your first car.

I'm super sitisfied and happy with the customer service provided by this dealer, specially speaking of Gasan who is a sales representative from this place that did the impossible for us, he is an excellent person and he helped my wife and I to get our first car after a month from our arrival to Canada.

My wife came with an open work permit and I with a study permit for 2 years. A week after we oficially started working since our arrival, we started to seek our first car in Vancouver. It was really frustrating that in every single place we visited to ask for financing or leasing the answer always was "is not possible right now".

Gasan made it happen, he really helped 2 immigrants to get their first car ine xcellent condition with an in house financing option and comfortable monthly payments.

They are amazing and such a great help when it is about seeking your first car in Vancouver.

My Golf (the latest in a series of Golfs dating back to 1980) has been serviced at Journey Volkswagen of Coquitlam for the past 9 years. Hence I was thrilled when my search for an AWD vehicle led me to the Taos - and to the prospect of continuing to relate to my local dealership. The staff in the sales department were unfailingly warm and helpful.made me feel like a personal friend. They delivered on their promises, with clear communications at every step of the way. I couldn't recommend them - and the entire dealership - more highly!

We went to 7 dealer ships across Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam and out of those 7 we ended up buying a 2022 Tiguan in part due to Nima he was the best sales associate we had dealt with and impressed us with his knowledge and kindness.the rest of the staff was great all so.

My experience was awesome at Volkswagen! I had to wait for some parts to come in and be replaced. All of that took only a day to do! So my car was given to me very quickly! The only down side was my gas meter was at empty when I drove off with my car but thankfully the staff at Volkswagen let me come back and they filled it up to full.

I had a not so pleasant experience with my initial appointment, after speaking to the Service Manager Graham Myers I was extremely please with the level of customer service he provided. He listened to my concerns, and ensured I felt taken care of after our call. It was a pleasure dealing with him and I would recommend if you are taking your vehicle in for servicing you speak with Graham directly.

I was desperate to find a new vehicle. I called ahead and asked for what I was looking for and the sales manager was happy enough to check for me and gave me the good news that they had the car I was looking for.

When we got to the dealership we had a salesman ready and waiting for us with the vehicle pulled up. Ed was fantastic and easy to deal with. His calm demeanor helped me feel comfortable signing for my vehicle. The finance and insurance people were wonderful in getting me through as quickly and painlessly as possible.

I was despirately looking for jetta and Gasan Amirov contacted me on my request for the car available with him. My experience is awesomly perfect and car was perfect and sales deal was more than satisfying and i wanna recommend to evryone who so ever is fan of volks and wanna buy any other used car please first try here and you will never regret. Gasan helped me get into a new car and it was a great experience. I didn’t feel pressured at all and felt super comfortable being on the lot. Once I chose a vehicle he gave me a great tour of the vehicle showing me how to work all the different functions and gadgets. He answered all of my questions and made sure I understood. It felt like buying a car off of a friend. Amazing experience!

I recently went for regular car service. The staff has changed and are not very friendly. I asked them to check something on my car the staff was like we did not have time. They did not even offer to book and appointment or anything. Additionally they were not busy at all as it was December end and barely had any car come in for service. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. Regency VW the old dealership owners very nice and had a great management. Journey is bad. I would recommend never go there. Go to jim pattison.

My son and I were on a very tight timeline to find him a car. We found one on-line at Journey Volkswagen & called to book a test drive. As we drove to the dealership, Jacob had the car pulled around front, plates on & ready to go for us. Very professional! We signed for the test drive insurance & a few minutes later we were test driving a beautiful little vehicle. We put the deposit on it immediately & returned later that evening for the rest of the paperwork (when we had more time!). Excellent service by the entire team at Journey Volkswagen! And we love the car too!

My experience at this VW dealership was quite poor.

- Brake caliper broke. Took way too long to fix (almost 2 weeks).
- Didn't offer any sort of relief to make the inconvenience of not having my vehicle available for so many days a bit better.
- Could not come to where I lived to give me a ride back to the dealership because that was (I assume) an inconvenience to them. Yet nobody seemed to care about my own inconvenience all this time.
- Next to none communication skills. I always had to call them to get updates.
- I find out (for the first time) that there is a nail stuck in one of the tires when I come to pick up the car. Nobody told me about this before, nor they had the courtesy of fixing it themselves as a token of appreciation for having me waiting for so long without a vehicle. This was especially painful.

I spent 40 thousand dollars on my GTI, and have been going to VW religiously for all scheduled services, which aren't cheap. I was expecting a way better customer experience than this.

I (very politely) offered my customer feedback to the senior manager, but all I heard was defensiveness and excuses. They fell short of owning up to the poor service that they offered.

I have just purchased a new Jetta 2021 Highline from Journey VW. I was in search for a new vehicle online then only a minute after I plugged my info on their website, I received a call from Farhad who generously explained all the details of the the available offers, and booked me an appointment in the same day, moreover he even picked me up to their office where he walked me through the available trims and answered all of my questions. Farhad is warm hearted man, I enjoyed his amazing stories of Salmon fishing. By the time we had an initial agreement, Ray - the Sales manager - stepped in and made his best efforts to secure a fair and reasonable price for the car in a very friendly negotiations. I won't forget Paul and Todd the business managers who were very honest detailing the financial agreement and related services and maintenance conditions. Before I head out, I signed the auto insurance with Charlene, I must say she's one of the "happiest" and most enthusiastic agents I met. That was the cherry on top of the whole outstanding experience. I drove home with a peace of mind and trust that everything was taking care of.

Very irresponsible, I'm old customer since it was owned by Regency and I trusted them, it's first time I used them after new ownership.
I dropped my car for service with William and rented hertz car through them at $20/day with 50% discount and that became nightmare after 15days of returning the car.
I got charged for $803 and when I called him he said will check and get back and he never got back then I called got info from hertz they didn't get car back so they charged me and when I called this vw guy he went on holiday which is fine but no info for me from office either, then I again got charged for $81 then called hertz I got to know they still don't have any info about the car which I dropped on same day.

Next day I called vw and there was no helpful information, he don't want to reply my email stating I returned the car to him on the same day.

Later I got to know the car was re rented on next day to someone else by him with no paperwork with hertz, according to them I'm still driving that car which he could have disclosed on first day and avoid this, he said only after I said I'm coming there.

I regret going there, I thought Journey will give same satisfaction as Regency, I was wrong (also they didn't reset service reminder in car) : (

Very dissapointed from this place, i requested to check a noise that is very noticeable on my vw golf 2018 and the tech said he didnt heard anything, i went to pick up my car and request a tech to drive the car with me but no body was available, so i payed 600 dollars bill for a service and when i got my car was all dirty, no body washed the car, and the excuse was that the washer went home early, so is that my problem? I payed almost 600 dollars service and not even a basic wash like any other dealership? When i asked for the wash they say ohhh we owe you a wash.looool.i would never recomend to go to this volkswagen dealership ever. Carlos

I got appointment 8am so I went there and wait for service.serviceman talked another customer and said to me wait 10 minutes but he didn't say any and came to me 30 minutes later.and In website advertisement, regular maintenance will be discounted 10% but not discounted.service man just explained me but not actually. And trying to force to rent a car in designated rent dealer with just $20 reimburse saying took 4 hrs to just regular maintenance. And charged even didn't order part. What I saying is "check still warranty support or not" but he charged with "Customer pay shop charge for repair order"

Terrible service department. My Service Advisor asked me 3 times what I was there for even though I had an appointment booked for several weeks, and we pulled it up in their system together on my arrival. They weren't going to wash my car as part of my 1 year service, because all of their wash people had called in sick? They didn't offer any type of concierge service for me, even though it was over 2 hours after my appointment time that my car even entered their shop. Then when I sent a polite email afterwards to complain, William Leung blocked my email! LOL what a clown show! Get ready to argue if you deal with William Leung, because that is all he knows. At the very end of the process, they asked me if I knew where my keys were (the keys were in VW's chain of custody.)! Like dealing with a bunch of stoners.

I will be back! We Loved our experience and the New Tiguan.
We took our mom car shopping as it was time to upgrade her 2012 vehicle. Upon arrival at the dealership we noticed a sign saying new ownership. We were immediately pleased with the greeting by staff and felt at ease.
Mom did not know what kind of car she wanted so we looked at all models. The sales staff were so patient and thorough as she went from golf to sedan to SUV. She felt no pressure and was enjoying the experience of trying these new vehicles - over 3 test drives.
We were all so impressed by the service & staff. My mom left so happy and excited about her purchase and is loving her Tiguan.
The whole experience made me want to get one too. So I will be back shortly when I am ready for a new one.

Bad experience. The guy working at VW service department said we would receive a recall afternoon, but when I called them afternoon and was noticed that he went home and no anybody help us to process my car’s problem. That’s VW afterservice. Oh my gosh.

I had my car serviced at the dealership and was extremely satisfied. They explained the work I had to have done, answered all my questions. Staff was excellent and so was their service.
Their operation is top notch, their sales staff were friendly and helpful and never pushy. They made me feel that my business was important to them and I trust them completely would not hesitate to buy a car from this dealership. I will definitely bring my car back for future servicing.

Chris McDonald (Service manager) was so helpful and considerate when I came one Sat morning without a confirmed booking to have my Audi checked. It turned out only an oil top up was required and that next regular service wasn't due until after 20 days. I'll definitely have my car serviced regularly at this dealership.

Amazing service I had serious issues with my diesel car which were causing me a lot of pain and stress. I contacted the service department at Journey Volkswagen and the young lady that helped me (forgive me for forgetting her name), did not hesitate to assist me and showed genuine compassion for my concerns. Even though their shop was completely booked up, she willingly took my urgency into account and got me in for a diagnosis asap.

When she told me it would take a couple days to get the parts in, I asked if they had a loner car available which they didn't. I voiced my concerns about additional damages to my car that may accrue as the result of the malfunctions and instead of giving me the run around to save a buck like you'd expect of most shops, she genuinely listened to my concerns and did not hesitate to offer me a third party car rental at no cost, including all the shuttle service I would need.

Within the next two days my car was fixed and ran like new again. Thanks to the selfless actions of the Journey Volkswagen service department I was spared an immense amount of pain and was able to get on with my life for the next couple days without headache. I would recommend this dealership to anybody and definitely turn to them for all my service needs in the future.
