Phoebe the night manager was awesome with her high energy and demeaner. She conducted an award winning site tour of the hotel for our cornerstone College hospitality class. Her knowledge and understanding of the hotel was amazing. It was also appreciated that she did all of this after working a night shift.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for great service delivered by an amazing staff
Thanks Phoebe

Great, great, great stay! Lovely room and an excellent staff interaction. Wonderful lounge and good restaurant. Definitely worth a second visit.
10 November 2023 20:30
I dropped in on November 9th at around 3 p.m. To explore whether I should seek my RMT Services nearby.
Once the SPA Receptionist became available, I shared with her; reasons for my visit.
The Receptionist response (s), I would regard as professionally-cool, rather than as I had expected and experienced at other such facilities, to be professionally-warm and welcoming!
I inquired if I could be provided a tour of the facility, to help me in my decision making, toward becoming a Guest at this Spa.
Interestingly, the Receptionist advised that a tour was not possible because there would be Guests dressed in Robes, in the Changerooms! I explained, though I believe I did not need to, that I was also Male, and Gender privacy as alluded to by the Receptionist should not be an issue.
The Receptionist remained unmoved, and ‘coolly’ denied the availability of a Tour.

DYNAMIC PRICING
I then inquired about RMT pricing and was advised of the Rates, and also advised of JW MARRIOTT Spa “Dynamic Pricing” differential pricing structure!
The sum of it is that the JW MARRIOTT SPA drives Fees upwards, in response to increase in demand for offered Services!
This differential pricing structure represented to me, the notion in my opinion of the JW MARRIOTT SPA capitalizing at Guest (s) expense, when the SPA would be enjoying a ‘busy business day’.
I was confused at the concept of why would an appointment space (when available) on a ‘busy business day’, be driven by the JW MARRIOTT SPA, to be more expensive, than an appointment space on a ‘slow business day’!
Considering that the Guest experience would remain the same, or perhaps even be de-graded, due to the ‘increased-pressure’ exerted on the SPA facility, by increased demand, and potential human-resourcing and infrastructure pressures, affecting positive and consistent Service Delivery.

The above is further confirmed by details advertised on the JW MARRIOTT SPA website:

“SPA BY JW MARRIOTT (VANCOUVER) - EXPERIENCE PRICING
(39 Smithe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia.)
*Treatment pricing varies based on peak vs.non-peak times. ”
“DYNAMIC PRICING
Pricing for spa services is based on real-time demand……………”

MANDATORY 18% SERVICE CHARGE
Then, much to my additional surprise and contributing de-motivation to being a Guest, was the advertise on the JW MARRIOTT website that an 18% service charge would be automatically applied to a RMT treatment!
The 18% service charge justified as being for “This includes gratuities distributed to the staff who served you during your visit”
This means to me that an RMT – Therapeutic treatment for “90 MINUTES starting at $300*”, would be automatically subjected to a $ 54 service charge, regardless of the quality of service provided.
The matter of ‘service charge/gratuities’ as I am aware is a much debated, ‘consumer advocate’ issue.
Service Charge/Gratuities ought to be as originally intended, an earned reward, not as it has evolved to, to being an automatic demand.
I absolutely understand and accept when an Establishment has practice to impose an automatic service charge/gratuity in situations where an Establishment is called upon to serve a large-Group of Individuals.
In this situation it appears to me that the JW MARRIOTT SPA has as a business practice the matter of mandatory imposition of an 18% service charge/gratuity, on the basis of ‘reverse-focus’.
I also find it interesting that the JW MARRIOTT SPA describes the mandatory imposition of the 18% service charge/gratuity as being “For your convenience …. ”
The above is further confirmed by details advertised on the JW MARRIOTT SPA website:

"SPA BY JW MARRIOTT (VANCOUVER) - EXPERIENCE PRICING
(39 Smithe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia.)
*Pricing does not reflect 18% service charge and taxes.
SERVICE CHARGE
For your convenience, an 18% service charge will be added to each spa treatment.
This includes gratuities distributed to the staff who served you during your visit. "

For my experience as I have shared here, I do not intend to subject myself to being a Guest at the JW MARRIOTT SPA in Vancouver!

Very clean.many dining choices and close to everything. Staff were kind and helpful.will definitely stay here again.

This is an amazing hotel, the location is very nice because you have the downtown near the hotel and is a very nice zone. The service and the rooms were also incredible. Since the first day all the service and the hotel in general was amazing. I totally recommend staying here if you go to Vancouver.
17 August 2023 4:11
Rooms were just 4-Star hotel rooms with slight perks such as comfier beds, a bigger bed, and slightly more expensive lotion and shop. The problems are that the shower doors don't have a hinge, making them easy to move when your showering and therefore, spilling water out. The second problem is with the bathroom doors. You can't lock them, meaning someone might walk in on you using the toilet. I don't have much to say about service, because I didn't really need service. Location was average, like most other hotels. The 1 complaint that I have though, like most other 5 star hotels, is the price. If you have the money then go to this hotel, but most of the time, it's just better off going to 4 star hotels.
20 November 2021 22:45
The hotel is not the same. It is not full service anymore. We learned this at checkout when we said our room had not been cleaned. Turns out you have to request cleaning services now. The tissues were out. Toilet paper was very low (needed to conserve). Ordered clean towels through the app and then they are brought to your room. This is not 5* anymore. Now an AirBNB.
19 November 2021 5:34
Okayish hotel. Definitely not a 5 stars, the rooms were okay. We got one on the 12th floor with no view and close to the elevators. There are much better hotels in Vancouver for the same price and better prestations. The drinks at the bar were good, although it closed early (around 11pm) the restaurant closes way too early (around 9pm). If you come here for the casino, it’s convenient. Otherwise, it’s decent for sleeping (the bed was extremely comfortable) and the room service is upon request.

We had an awesome stay at JW Marriott Parq Vancouver! It was so comfortable that we couldn't wait to go back to our suite. Beds were like sleeping on cloud nine. Shower feels like a spa especially their super soft robes and wonderful bath products. Our suite had a spectacular panoramic view of the harbor. A beautiful sunrise with mountains. Then at night you get an exciting LED light show of the science centre dome, BC place, and Olympic Village with a mirror image on the harborfront water. Guest services were super friendly and accommodated all of our requests. Mila coffee maker and refills of the pods anytime plus bottled water. Special thanks to the Guests Services Manager, Vincent Ting, and also his professional staff. They made us feel welcome and an unforgettable family vacation with their five-star service.

After staying at other JW Marriotts we have to say we are disappointed with this one. They do not offer valet parking, they did not come out to get our luggage when we pulled up in our vehicle, they did not greet us when we walked into the lobby. We had to stand in line to check in, the lobby was crowded chaotic and loud. There are only four elevators and they must be shared by hundreds of non guests going to various bars, restaurants and clubs on lower floors. We booked an expensive suite only to find that it is obviously a ‘party suite’. Broken cabinets etc. Used the hotel phone to call guest services and it rang endlessly.eventually had to physically go down to the lobby to discuss the issue. Got booked into a regular king room with a nice view only to find that A previous guest had left dirty underwear in one of the drawers. Again, tried to call guest services and it rang and rang and no one ever answered. This is literally the worst customer service you get better service at a Holiday Inn. This morning we ordered breakfast to our room they read the order back to us to make sure they got it right. Of course they forgot a bunch of stuff which arrived a half hour later that they then tried to charge us for AGAIN.do yourself a favor when staying in Vancouver and find another hotel.
27 October 2021 6:47
Do Not stay here ever! I travel a lot. This is the worst experience ever. We called ahead and asked if we could check in at 2 and they said no problem. We got there at 2: 30pm and he made us wait forever. Check in was terrible.
When I got back to my car, in their underground, I found a parking ticket. They blamed their own parking lot people. I had to get into a long line to finally get it excused. Horrendous.

If you plan one or two nights in Vancouver with business related to BC Place, Rogers arena or Parq casino and you want comfort, and you are a coffee drinker, JW Marriott is a great choice! Easy access, situated in Yaletown (very safe surroundings).
If you are used to JW Marriott Asia service or Fairmont-level service or if you are staying for a longer stay, or you are a tea drinker, you will be disappointed. Service is uneven (possibly due to workforce shortage), absence of tea service in the room, housekeeping not yet resumed dur to COVID.
20 October 2021 2:40
My wife and I stayed here for two weeks while working in Vancouver in July of 2021. The hotel was modern and clean and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. One of the front desk staff, Mayra, helped us with some booking issues we had as we checked-in, was extremely hospitable and accommodating, and took a few little extra steps to make up feel welcome throughout our stay. We are not used to such a high level of service and greatly appreciate everything she did. The housekeeping staff were also top-notch. We will definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.
11 October 2021 15:54
Great bar, didn't stay at this Marriott, but it looks great.
Took an Uber to our downtown Marriott and had to go to the lower level to catch the ride. Seemed like they wanted us out of the way.

Server at bar was very knowledgeable about the local beers and I appreciated his expertise. Will be back and will stay there next time.

This is luxury for a small town girl let me tell you! The bathrobes I almost took home with me! The bed was amazing, shower was pristine and built for the gods, the views were amazing of the BC place, staff were friendly and helpful, everythjng was beautiful and clean! The casino was so fun and the only downside was they had 2 bartenders for the whole casino and so we waited in line for an hour and could only get 2 drinks! Aside from that it was amazing!
07 October 2021 3:35
Spectacular views & service that matches. Firstly — I love the JW brand, they train their team to do the right thing and truly care about the guest experience. Their rooms offer an abundance of storage space, their gym is fantastic and equipped for upper push/pull & lower body days… and then there are the restaurant choices like Honey Salt. Definitely will stay again!

Booked the penthouse suite for my sons first birthday and the entire staff was amazing and very accommodating. Thomas at the front desk carried up everything and helped out so much! Would definitely recommend them
23 September 2021 14:29
Very luxurious property in Vancouver and what you would expect from a JW Marriott. Would love to give it 5 stars but there were a few small details which prevented me from giving them 5 stars. Overall we had a pleasant stay. We had a nice room water view room, 1140. These small details were a real nuisance and NOT expected.
1) Room door allowed way too much noise from hallway, on Friday evening around 12: 35am we heard every drunk partiers conversation, which woke me up several times.
2) Traffic noise from Pacific Blvd, cars racing down the off ramp from Cambie St bridge and revving their engines, at times I had to adjust the TV volume (btw get a better selection of TV stations).
3) In the bathroom the held shower head kept falling off and it was quite heavy, so you had to hold it or get ready to move out of the way when it dropped. There are very few places to hang a wet bath towel to dry. A few more hooks or towel bars would be useful
21 September 2021 21:24
We had our small wedding here back in May. It turned out lovely and the staff were amazing upon check in when we had a few hiccups. Our suite was beautiful and it over looked false creek. I recommend this hotel for any event, big or small! A big thank you to Jorin for organizing everything for us and being patient with me.
21 September 2021 9:06
Had two luxurious stays here: one in a one bedroom suite with a stunning view overlooking BC Place, and a two-queen room with a lovely view of the courtyard and fountains by the Victor. Wifi was excellent, the rooms were impeccable, the service was attentive, and they allow pets for a $50 fee. Looking forward to my next staycation here!
19 September 2021 17:46
Strategically located, you have everything at hand. Yale Metro Station as well as taxi boats docks are within 500 mts. Also, tourist downtown spots are a 15-20 minute walk away. Now about the service, there is only nice things to say. Personnel are always willing to help and are attentive of any service requested. It’s a clean and definitely a high quality hotel. We enjoyed our stayed. Thank you.
12 September 2021 6:43
Just not worth the money. Spend it some where else. Customer service is just not quite there. Had an Uber driver deliver some beverages and they don't even call the room to notify guests. Got my drinks 4 hours later. Parking daily is $48 no valet. Still playing the covid card anytime you ask for anything. Restrictions have been lifted. Forced to wear a mask at the casino and the lobby wich is fine we went to nearby hotels nothing. Just do your research spend the little bit to get service
12 September 2021 2:48
My Fiancé and I are staying at the JW Marriott Parq and are having the best experience. We have been welcomed graciously and all of the staff have been so helpful. We wanted to purchase scooters and we’re helped by Kimiko. She was so friendly and courteous. Later on that evening, we came home from dinner and found a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and a note from Kimiko wishing me an early Happy Birthday. Kimiko truly made our stay! Thank you!
05 September 2021 3:08
Beautiful hotel suite an view! Couple noisencomplaints which is annoying when your payin that much for a room should be a older people/family section an a section for people out on the town but we had a lovely time cant wait to return!
13 August 2021 22:35
After 1.5 years closed, i decided to go yesterday and was pretty dissapoibted that there were no blackjack tables with the minimum bet of 5dls anymore. Lowest i saw was 15dls. Same with the roulette. They used to have min 1 dollar chips and now its only 2dlls p/ chip.i hope they can bring those back as that atteacts more people who just want to go and have fun where losing a bit of $ is not as bad.

We had a flawless experience at the Parq Jw Marriott for the weekend! Lauren was more than helpful in every way and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We stayed in the king suite and were very pleased with the room. With panoramic views of the city, a massive bathroom with a bathtub and walk in shower, very comfortable king bed, and a large lounging area we couldn’t have asked for more! Lauren not only took the stress out of booking a room but made us feel at home. She also helped us find a restaurant for dinner and took care of the reservation to make our night more relaxing. Thank you very much Lauren! We will be back soon!
06 August 2021 14:53
Stayed here for one week on our trip to BC. It was such a great experience. The staff here are just unbelievably kind and helpful (special shout out to Veronica who was soo sweet). Our room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Regular housekeeping doesn't happen automatically to reduce interaction due to covid, which was great. But they will happily have it done whenever you want (daily, or less frequently) upon request. The hotel is connected to the casino, but they have done a great job at separating the two enough that you can avoid the traffic. The location is so perfect. You can zip in and out of downtown without getting stuck in traffic, and you are right downtown so everything is so close and accessible. We had such a wonderful, carefree stay! Will definitely be returning and recommending.

Had back to back meetings. Breakfast at Honey Salt.excellent service and simple good breakfast.

Nice covered smoking area.
Really enjoyed my fine cigars there. I just wished there was bar service there like they have / had at Burnaby's Grand Villa. 2 hours of savoring fine cigars and no bar service.

Late lunch in the Sports Pub was "meh". Great service from the young bartender but the food needs improvement. How the heck does one over fry calamari? Or perhaps it was the actual calamari itself? Either way, it was the second time we were disappointed. Also, there was an unusual amount of crumbly fried batter beneath. Lesson learned.

As for the Casino, Covid safety measures are in place. Really appreciate the distancing of machines.

I recently spent a night at this hotel. I stayed in a studio room with water view. The view from the room was a partial water view, as there were tall towers on both sides, partially obstructing the view of False Creek. Nonetheless, the view was pleasant enough. The room itself was clean, modern and well appointed. The furnishings were adequate and comfortable. The bed was firm and provided a good night's sleep. The bathroom was large and included a stand-alone tub. The toiletries provided (Molton Brown) were a pleasure to use, but were not in single-use individual containers, which I found surprising given the current pandemic. The low water pressure and lukewarm water temperature made showering less pleasant than it ought to be. My interactions with hotel staff were always extremely positive - staff are welcoming, courteous, helpful and professional. I dined exclusively at both attached restaurants, Honey Salt and The Victor, and had very enjoyable and memorable meals throughout my stay. The hotel is located conveniently in Yaletown near False Creek, and neighbourhood parks and the seawall are just minutes away. Overnight parking at Parq Vancouver is expensive but very convenient. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would have no hesitation recommending it to others.

We went to Honey Salt. Loved it, will definitely be back. Went for the dine out menu, got the French onion braised oxtail soup while my husband got the muscles. Then both got the lobster and shrimp entree upgrade with cannolis for dessert. It was my birthday and they brought out a candle with my dessert. Food was delicious and the servers were fantastic. Not somewhere I'd likely take my kids but it is kid friendly as its not on the casino floor. I did notice they also had high chairs.
19 March 2021 10:47
Came here during family day long weekend with my husband. They followed covid protocols and STILL gave wonderful customer service to us during our stay. The concierge was more than polite and was very helpful when we asked questions/called for extra toiletries, etc. We had a great view during our trip & had appointment booked access to the gym facility (which is full of top of the line equipment). They also have a great restaurant called honey and salt within their hotel- which was delicious! Couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable stay! Thank you for the great time!
06 March 2021 5:25
This is what we got for room service and it comes with plastic utensils. Uber is better than this. At least they serve it hot. Not to mentioned the number of times we have to call to the restaurant because no one could answer the phone. Totally ruined the experience. Would not come back.
27 February 2021 18:49
Had the pleasure of staying a night in the Ivy Suite at the JW Marriott Parq, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Check-in was quick and smooth, staff are friendly and inviting (we brought a minor concern to the attention of the front desk which they responded promptly to), and the amenities were fabulous (despite COVID restrictions). Speaking of amenities, we were able to enjoy the 50 minute RMT couples massage as well as a rooftop hot tub with a spectacular view of the Vancouver skyline and BC place. We highly recommend the JW Marriott Parq to anyone looking for somewhere to experience true relaxation and comfort away from home, and can't wait until our next stay.
29 November 2020 1:02
I had arrived an hour later than the 'supposed check in time (4pm) ' and check in was fine. It was hard to hear because of the plexi glass because of COVID but the guy helping us just stepped to the side and apologized cause he knew everyone was having a hard time hearing. I requested online when i booked to have extra towels, firms pillows, and a room with a view. They accommodated every single item I have said. I got a view of science world as well as the water.

Heading up to the 15th floor the hallways I must say are quite nice (haha). Yes, our room was very standard but it was very clean. Our bathroom had 2 separate doors; one for the toilet, and one for the shower. There was also a huge lounge sofa right by the window which was very nice. Love how they had netflix on the TV as they didn't have many channels to choose from on cable.

Yes, I was hoping for a bit more luxurious room but I did my research and I knew what I was staying in.

The location was perfect! If you knew how to get around downtown.robson was only a 15-20 min walk. 711 was a 5min walk.and cute cafes and restaurants were just a walk away! Yaletown is close and so is QE and the public library.

We checked out the roof top where the hot tub and gym, etc.were supposed to be. The outdoor part where the hot tub is was huge! There were so many lounge areas and seating areas I was shocked! Plus the moment you look behind you, you are LITERALLY right beside Canada place. LITERALLY.the view is quite spectacular (because I haven't seen canada place that close before). We had tried to hot tub around 8pm and let me just say.the hot tub wasn't even hot.it was kinda hotter than a warm pool. AND the water was low.we had to sit at the bottom where your feet are suppose to be because if we sat at the designated sitting part our upper body would be freezing cold (late night in October). Lastly, there are no lights what so ever in the hot tub or anywhere near the hot tub.so you can't see if anyone is inside. It was pitch black dark. SO the hot tub experience was disappointing.

My partner wanted some hot water and we normally just boil water in the coffee machine in other hotels but PARQ had an espresso machine so the water didn't come out as fast. We called the front desk and they said that they will just give us a hot water kettle! I was so surprised haha.

The downside with COVID is that there are not many items inside the hotel room so you would have to request for certain items. We asked for extra blankets and 2 robes and they provided it fast and easy.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the service we had received was great regardless of other peoples comments.
22 November 2020 20:48
Customer service from booking to checking in was amazing; they made us feel so welcomed. They upgraded our room to a waterfront stay as we were celebrating our anniversary.
The room was very clean. All in all we loved our stay and would highly recommend it.
20 November 2020 3:19
Stayed here one night and it wasn’t too bad. I don’t really think it should be considered 5 star it’s more like a 4 star. The bed was very comfy but the room seems basic and I’ve had better rooms 4 star hotels for half the price. Parking is $45 a night too which should be included in the already pricey room fee. Wifi you have to pay for too which is weird every single hotel I’ve ever been too has bad free wifi. For a 5 star hotel
I wasn’t too impressed

We’ve always stayed at Fairmont hotels but decided to try the JW Marriot Parq. What a fantastic choice! When we arrived Joon (the best) greeted us and was so accommodating to our needs that I instantly thought I’d never use Fairmont again, we arrived at 7am and obviously our room wasn’t ready, he didn’t want us to wait till 4pm to check in, that he suggested getting breakfast and he will call us when a room is available, an hour later he called and got our suite (room 1642) with harbour view prepared. The suite was great with a spacious living area and great views from ALL rooms (even the private lavatory) Housekeeping was a delight and even put all our toiletries in perfect order! The Parq is perfectly located so you can walk anywhere, the furthest walk was about 35 minutes to Stanley park. Will definitely be back! Thank you.
30 October 2020 10:46
An overall terrific experience. Staff was very accommodating despite some difficulties checking in. I paid for parking and I ended up getting a ticket however the staff took care of that right away. The rooms were absolutely beautiful! The scent throughout the hotel hallways was very pleasant too! This hotel is perfect if you’re young as it has the casino, spas, restaurants and is close to every club and bar in vancouver. The views were insane. I would love to be back!
24 October 2020 11:26
Currently staying in the hotel and it has been just ok. The hotel prides itself on being luxury but there’s no luxurious feeling except for the price. No ironing board in the room, rooms are alright and small for a “suite”, and no glasses. Simple things that make a hotel actually luxury. We are spending a very special occasion here (honeymoon) and kind of wish we stayed in another hotel. The location is great though.
27 September 2020 15:06
This is a really nice hotel, excellent staff, and the casino and rooms are very clean, modern, nice views, I love the location and lounge is nice too, I have stayed here several times and definitely will again!
05 August 2020 11:46
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I didn't get to experience the entire hotel as COVID prevented that, but of course that is not to the fault of the hotel. Super comfortable, beautiful rooms. Would love to stay again. Great location.
