Katsu San

It was my first visit to a Katsu restaurant in Vancouver, and it was an amazing experience. Despite having visited numerous restaurants in Richmond, none compared to the quality I experienced here. We ordered a variety of menu items, and they were served promptly, exceeding my expectations. Every ingredient was remarkably fresh, and the main Katsu dish was simply excellent—words fail to capture its excellence. I am eager to return, perhaps with new friends, and highly recommend this restaurant to others. The service from every staff member was exceptionally kind, making it the best dining experience I've ever had. This place has truly won me over.

Ordered Cheese Katsu set.
Looks authentic, feels authentic and tastes authentic to high quality tonkatsu.
Definately the best in Richmond and possibly in the entire BC.

We ordered the pork katsu set and chicken katsu set.

The set came with rice, thinly shaved cabbage with dressing, pickled radish, ginger and miso soup.

The meat was tender and juicy. Cooked to perfection! The breading was unique. It was my first time trying out this breading. It is not the usual panko breading that other restaurants use which added a nice texture and crisp to each bite. My favourite was the dressing to the shaved cabbage. It was garlic vinegar flavoured with a light sweetness to it. Very complimentary to the food items in the set. Delicious! I highly recommend this place.

Last time we had 치즈 돈까스 was about 10 years ago when we were in South Korea. It's almost impossible to find it in the east coast. It's so good! Glad had a chance to bring our family to try this here. Their katsu was very crunchy and the blend of cheese and fried cutlet was just perfect! I had ramen. It was a big portion and the broth was really taste. It might taste better if I had some Kimchee to eat with though.

Not a lot of choices of dishes but has lots of options for dressing and spice. Only had 2 types of food in many variety. I liked both ramen and katsu, a bit pricy and not a lot of seating. It can get busy.

Went there for Sunday lunch and we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. The place is smaller than expected and was super busy. Ordered the Tonkatsu Set and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I wasn’t aware that with every set there is unlimited rice, shredded cabbage and Miso soup which blew my mind. The pork loin was super soft and so flavourful on its own. They also served hot green tea which was also bottomless. The servers were also extremely nice and would come over to ask if we needed more refills. Overall, it was a delicious lunch and an amazing experience. Would definitely come back again!

Tonkatsu was really good, but my friend's tonkotsu ramen was ok. Maybe because he chose chicken topping instead of cha shiu. All dishes slightly on the pricey side (starting from almost $20). But that might be due to this inflation-based world we now live in.

Not sure about if they have on-site parking as I was visiting the nearby school so parked there and walked over. Nearby free residential street parking was available though.

Service was pretty quick, good and friendly. Other worse servicing restaurants could learn from this crew.

The restaurant is pretty generic and seemed a bit crowded but since we had a window table, that was not bad.

Will definitely come back for the tonkatsu.

Great spot if you've never been. Very small restaurant so limited seating. But definitely worth the wait if your patient enough for it.

Came here for the first time and I must say, I’m definitely coming back! The meat was tender and the flavours were amazing. They had multiple dipping sauce options and they all tasted amazing! Reasonably priced for the the portion they give. Unlimited cabbage was a plus!

And all the servers are kind, courteous, cute and friendly? If I lived in Richmond, I would come to this restaurant every day!
Cuz I can eat the world's most delicious katsu

Best Katsu I’ve ever had, with very friendly staff and the cleanest fry I’ve ever tasted! I highly recommend going in to dine-in when possible because their Katsu San Assorted Sets are just so good. Their breading is honestly super impressive, and their tiger prawn is one of the biggest and best I’ve had.

Both their Tonkatsu and Chicken Katsu sets are quite similar so both are great choices. They manage to keep the chicken moist, and it’s my personal preference of the two:) During the summer, their cold ramen hits just right and I also highly recommend it.

For a while they also had discounts for healthcare workers, which I thought was very thoughtful.

So glad they’ve brought amazing katsu to Richmond!

Love this spot. Hands down the best pork cutlet in the city. The miso soup is also perfect. Full of flavour and always hot. We always order the pork cutlet and the scallop/prawn combo and we just split all the protein.

Absolutely great cheese katsu. Cheese quality is great. I have been ordering cheese katsu do many times but never get sick of it.

(I had a phone call to this restaurant and got confirmed.) to, you are not able to order cheese katsu during weekends.

Called for takeout on two Katsu cheese sets.on a Sunday, was told they didn't have it on weekends, so reluctantly ordered two regular tonkatsu instead, decided to go to Robson's Katsuya instead so called to cancel literally 1.5-2minutes later, "nope sorry already processed", wow ok whatever. Was initially told 15mins, waited 20 minutes after the phone call and it's not even that good. Overhyped, next.

Best cutlet in town, so tender inside and crispy outside, unique delicious thin sliced cabbage salad and tasty miso soup.generous amount of meat, refillable salad, soup and rice. Good service and reasonable price. No wonder why the restaurant has good review. Everything was beyond our expectation and we all enjoyed a lot.

Dec 23thI was a little late for lunch yet they still let me sit and enjoy, this place is a GEM. Best kept secret in Richmond, the owner, she was attendful when l dropped a chop stick, came right away with a fresh one, would love to talk Franchise, this place would be a flower in anyone's nieghbour hood. Food is excellent and plenty full with great value.

Long ago. First time take out very fast said 20mins ready in 15.price was good chicken was tender trying the pork tomorrow. Meal came with miao soup, oshinko, nice touch. Only down side not enough sauce.

Easily the best Katsu place in the Lower Mainland. Also, the cabbages are ignored; not here! I didn't mind the wait time if this means that they have better control of the quality of the food.

Incredible food and amazing service! Recommend checking it out if you can, it is a busy spot so you might have to wait depending on when you go!

Very generous portions and service. With unlimited refills on rice, shredded lettuce, miso soup, pickles, and salt (for your katsu entree), you'll never leave hungry.

A very popular place, expect to need to wait for a table during peak hours. We actually had to move tables after getting seated to help them seat a larger group! But they made up for that with some free curry.

They also have champon (Nagasaki's ramen variant). We didn't get it this time, but maybe next time, I might give it a shot. They are called Katsu San for a reason after all (specializing in katsu)!

Weekday lunch but the wait is over 1 hour, serving a set of deep fried pork loin, taste is just average, meat cooked so long less texture
