Ki Cafe (Ki Tea House)

It’s a beautiful cute little cafe. It has a very good vibe, delicious coffee/drinks and dessert options.

PLEASE! Be more consistent with your food products. I ordered the karaage chicken curry today and the curry sauce was so watery and tasted bland! The rice was literally "swimming" in the curry juice. Extremely disappointed as I have ordered this dish before and wasn't like this. Also, staff needs better training at customer complaints, basically nothing was resolved.

The first time I came here, it was with my friend, and I tried the oyako omurice rice, and it was great! I love the atmosphere and the selection of manga. Although, I wish they'd have more selections, but it was great nevertheless. The second time I came here with my boyfriend as a date, we both enjoyed the oyako omurice, and we both spent time together reading mangas:)

October 13th, 2023 Update

We just keep on coming back to this place. Love the food, drinks, decor, the relaxing ambiance and their extensive collection of Manga! Our daughter is in love with their soft serve Matcha ice cream and we can see why as they really do make an awesome Matcha ice cream! She loves it so much that she no longer has the patience to let me take a photo of it before eating. She dug into her Matcha ice cream right away this time, so.no photo of it this time!

Loved all of our drinks and nibbles but next time, I think we're all going to have our own order of Matcha Soft Serve ice cream. Their Matcha ice cream is soooo good and I'm really tired of taking just one scoop and letting our daughter eat the rest of it!

Ki Cafe might very well be the most charming cafe in Burnaby or even Greater Vancouver. Our daughter was certainly charmed by it. Mostly because of the Manga! There are several large shelves against the wall in this cafe, filled with Manga books. Our daughter is going through a bit of a Manga phase right now so she was quite taken with the Manga shelves and really wants to come back to this place again.

On to the main event though. The dessert, because this place is a dessert cafe. You can get a wide variety of desserts here. Cake, cheese tarts, waffles and bubble teas are amongst the many treats they offer. If you're not in the mood for sweets, they do also have a few savoury items on their menu including Omurice and Karaage Don.

Ki Cafe is currently participating in the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival. While our daughter ordered a Melona Ice drink, I decided to try the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival offering: Purple U Parfait. It's a gorgeous twist of Matcha soft serve with Ube soft serve. The two flavors were so beautifully intertwined with each other, and I loved all the wonderful toppings that came with it.

Our Manga loving daughter is eager to come back here for the Manga, and I'm just as eager to go back for their yummy desserts!

Really good waffles, bubble tea and great ambience. It's near the train station and unlike most Vancouver cafe's it opens at night!

Unique layout filled with anime and manga books. The desserts were really good. I would totally come back again.

It was small cafe in size. Interior design was so nice and cafe was so clean. Friendly staff service. We tried Chocobanana waffle and it was soooo good. It was 3 minutes walk from Royal Oak Skytrain station and it also had pay street parking. I would really recommend anyone to go there and try. Time limit is only 1 hour when it’s busy.

Perfect place for late night cravings! Open till 1 am on Friday and Saturday.

Decent variety of bbt, snacks, and light food such as okonomiyaki, and chicken and egg don.
Quality of the food/ drink are ok…. Lighter than they look so that you can still go to sleep.

Interesting deco with wisteria trellis and trees. Lots of manga books (older main stream) to read and anime figures to look at. Definitely a fun hip place to be!

Honestly love this cafe~ The atmosphere, the vibe of this cafe makes me want to come here all the time just to wind down, eat, read and have time to myself (or with friends) away from reality. Although, one thing for me is that you cannot study here which is totally understandable considering the limited seats there are and people want to sit. The display of the figurines, the cute totaro piano, and the huge bookshelves of manga just gives the cafe even more personality~ And not the mention the food is also great. Although not the best thing in the world, it's still good giving that home cooked meal vibe that your mom would've probably made when you were younger. Overall, great cafe~ Would recommend coming here with friends, for cute date, or even just by yourself! Either way, it's a cafe worth checking out!

Awesome experience and ambience. Felt like I was in Japan for a few moments. Food was top notch as well. Try their chicken nuggets. Highly recommended if you are around the area

I had a delightful experience at this café. The interior and ambiance were truly enchanting. The wall shelf adorned with art figurines, animes, and Pokémon added a unique touch. The section with books and mangas, complemented by plants, gave off a serene and natural vibe. I ordered the oyako rice and it was good. I can't wait to return for a relaxing visit, perfect for reading and chilling. Highly recommended!

This is my go-to cafe. Always giving great atmosphere:) Love their honey green tea and matcha ice cream, but don’t expect their savory dishes!

Stopped in to this cafe again today… the last time I was here to get a to-go drink, I had to wait over 20 minutes for it. I had made a mental note never to come here again because of the absurd wait times. I decided to give this place another chance and stopped in to do some work on my laptop and enjoy a bbt as I didn’t have to be anywhere like last time (so I had literally all day to wait for my drink). BUT once I took out my laptop and started to do work, the staff came out and told me to put my laptop away and that they don’t allow laptops which she then pointed to a sign that was on the table next to mine. You can’t blame me for not noticing the signage that was on another table and not the table I was sitting at. So if I can’t do work on my laptop then doing it on my phone is ok? Like what’s the point of that rule. Are you going to exclude any customers who aren’t spending time with their friends or like reading manga?

I agree with some of the one star comments - if you’re going to enforce all these rules then why not just open a to go shop or change the Google category to “restaurant” instead of a “cafe”. Not only do customers need to wait over 20 min for a simple green tea drink with nothing in it, but also need to follow absurd cafe rules that no other “good” cafes have.

Don’t waste your time and money here. Don’t make the same mistake I did.twice.

Omg this place has the best soft serve mango ice cream I've tasted, so creamy and not over bearing! Ki Cafe only offer 2 x flavors I think, 2nd one being matcha but who cares when the mango tastes sooooo good

Another aesthetic cafe in BC. It is situated at Butnaby near Royal oak skytrain station. We tried taiwanese mango bubble tea, macha roll cake, mango cone ice cream, fried chicken waffles and honey garlic butter and iced cappuccino. We loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Best for single family and couple of friends gatherings

The melona and brown sugar drink were amazing but the pearls/boba were too hard for my taste. The matcha roll cake was a bit too dry even with the cream filling. Tiramisu was yummy! Would come back again to try other drinks and food!

Really good for one time experience and instagrammable pics but other than that, that's pretty much it. It's a little bit pricey and they have a no device/laptop policy which means it's prolly not worth it buying a drink to stay and study, which is one of the common reasons people go to cafe. Quite understandable tho cuz the space is quite small. Other than that, love the vibe of the place!

Such a cute place to grab some food and a little drink. I love that they don't have wifi so you can really sit and enjoy the space with your friends. No one is hogging the tables with laptops, it's all people actually eating and enjoying the cute space.
