Kita No Donburi

Pretty good price for a chirashi don these days. Was pretty good too. Not a super nice place though. Wouldnt go out of your way.

I checked this place out for the first time and was surprised by how huge the portions were! Definitely come with a big appetite or plan to share. I ordered the spicy chashu donburi which was flavourful and had a good balance of meat, rice, and salad. I found that a lot of pieces were hard to eat though, and almost had a jerky-like texture. I also ordered the takoyaki which was crispy when fresh with lots of extra toppings. My food came out quickly and I left overall very full and content.

Had a great 1st meal in Vancouver after flying over from the UK. We had teriyaki beef don and chicken katsu, and some tea and really enjoyed it. The service was very cheerful and quick. The portions are large by British standards. This was a great experience -thank you!

I've seen this place forever and we finally went in! Surprisingly nice! I was expecting much less. Quite cozy and good food! We will be back!

The food is great! We come here almost every time we are downtown because the location is convenient and the food is so good. Plus the prices are really reasonable for downtown Vancouver, and good portion sizes (with what I've had here so far anyway)

One of my and my wife's favorite place for food in Vancouver. The portions are always good, service fast for sit-down, and it has a great menu.

If you want some Japanese ouch, I highly suggest you go here!

The food quality is subpar. Ordered donburi and ended up leaving more than a half of the dish. Don’t eat here

Their hot sake and oyako don are the most perfect thing on cold drizzling days. My husband and I run a Japanese food truck so I'm pretty picky. They absolutely do not disappoint.

We loved Kita No Donburi! Really delicious authentic Japanese food. My husband and I had lived in Japan once upon a time and this place made us very nostalgic.

I had the Katsu curry for take out and really liked the taste. Three pieces of fried chicken were enough for me.

It's one of those restaurants you can visit if you don't have other options around, hungry AF, and want a decent and cheap eat but nothing to write home about. Love the service though!

Delicious donburi, went for the straight forward pork and the meat was so well cooked, non greasy, yummy onions. Miso was also great.

Quick service. The portion is just perfect for lunch break. Good price. I will go there again for sure. The chirashi don in my picture was $15. It came with miso soup.

Super delicious katsudon! I ordered with tomago (egg) on top for more flavor complexity. Not too busy but filled up with people while I was there.

Likely Korean owned. Not very traditional Japanese curry. Rice was hard, curry burnt, service was mediocre.

Staff were so friendly, food came unbelievably fast (5 minutes or less? !), and food was totally delicious. Will come many more times!

Do not go here, they did not clean their eel properly and while eating my sushi, a bone stabbed the top of my mouth. My friend had to get tweezers to remove it

Ordered take out, this sad chicken cost $9, complete rip off! It's also so hard to chew.avoid this place you will be disappointed.

I ordered Tonkatsu donburi set using Uber eats. That Tonkatsu was very thin like chips and there is no pork meat texture and flavor. I understand that got soggy because of delivery. However I expected proper Japanese Katsudon. I wanted enjoy Tonkatsu, not paper thickness pork slice. You can make it more worthy for sure. It was kind of inexpensive price but you can put proper value if you can put your effort for the proper job.
Otherwise, never order again.

Small and friendly japanese restaurant. I went there during weekend, it wasn't busy. The waitress was cordial and helpful. The miso soup was so tasty and not salty, perfect. I tried a pork katsu with curry rice. It was really good. The katsu was fresh and crunchy. The spicy salmon roll was super yummy as well. I do recommend checking out this restaurant.

The curry lunch set was fantastic. The staff are friendly and are always checking up. I would definitely come back.

Great ramen, small restaurant, moderately priced, busy because of limited seating. Lined up on weekends 1-2 hour wait but fast service once you are inside. They try to turn over the tables as quickly as they can. Left satisfied.

Much as its a small place, there wasn't a long wait, we're seated right away.
They follow covid protocols so be ready with your vaccine card and a peace of ID.

There is a peaceful ambiance in here and the servers are lovely.

My favorite donburi place in downtown area. The price is very reasonable and the food is tasty. The restaurant is a bit tight and remind you of diners in Japan in general.

Tl;dr: I don't review restaurants much. Gist is, I enjoyed the food and will return.

I was pleasantly surprised that my spicy chirashi don was actually spicy. I mean if you're expecting something to burn your taste buds, it's not that hot, but it wasn't that watered down heat you normally get. My friend noted that he too was happy with his order. I intend to try some of their other foods at some point.

Great Donburis
Great selection of dons. They have a great vegetarian selection. They also offer curries and sushi. All very tasty. Try adding natto to your don, it’s delicious.

A donburi place that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg. The katsu curry and chirashi is so fricken good.

Picture on the menu and actual food you get are two different things. Salad dressing was too sweet, curry was so so, chicken Katsu was very tough and chicken karage was total rip off. Now this place is off our list.

Great restaurant for a quick bite, either for lunch or dinner. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. They have a nice selection on their menu as well.

It was just what I needed, the visit to local "herb" stores had me twisted and this meal saved me. A great meal all around, I got the Mori DX and everything was great. Interesting sauces with great flavors, the cone was fantastic with different layers as you went. The sashimi portion was good. I will return soon.

This place is great for what it is. A no-frill Japanese restaurant serving up delicious Japanese food.
The food is always on point and service is decent. The price is reasonable.

Not only delicious food at reasonable prices. Their personnel is SUPER nice. Once they forgot one element in my take away order, and they run down the street to catch up as I was leaving, and let me know.
