Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba - UBC

Kokoro Mazesoba is an absolute delight! The unique blend of flavors in their mazesoba bowls is unparalleled. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff only enhance the dining experience. Five stars for delivering a culinary journey that keeps me coming back for more!

Would recommend sizing up because their regular option is really tiny. Vancouver diet culture makes people go for the regular option but you’re paying 17 bucks for your meal so might as well make sure you’re actually full. The noodles were good - not the best I’ve tasted but in terms of affordability, Kokoro hits the spot.

One of my favourite restaurants in UBC! Prices are affordable and food always tastes great. I personally recommend the mentaiko cream mazesoba and chicken karaage rice bowl. The staff are also very friendly and work efficiently, even when it gets really busy. You can always expect a good dining experience at Kokoro!:)

Amazing restaurant staff and ambience! Love the unique food and the concept of ramen without the soup with the amazing noodles. Truly fascinating!

I've had better tasting soba, was not a fan of kokoro's. Their ramen wasn't that special, the ice cream is probably their specialty. Very milky creamy, the cone is delicious.

Really really really bad attitude.

They didn’t take our order in the computer so we waited there for like 40 mins. They didn’t make any apology for this.

And then I saw two guys bring their drink inside. Last time we are not allowed to bring any drink. So I just asked the server. “Are they supposed to bring drinks? Last time we…. ” I haven’t finished my sentence. He just interrupted me, said: “Can I talk first? ” With a really really bad attitude. I’m just wondering, are you supposed to talk to customers like this?

Ridiculous. I hope you close down soon～

Delish, fast and friendly!

Visited twice and I have tried:

tantan ramen -> a must-try!
spicy ramen -> wasn’t spicy at all for me and its soup tasted a bit bland

This place seems to get a lot of attention and it is definitely good but nothing special imo. A little on the pricier side but worth trying it out to see if you like it. They mostly do dry noodle bowls.

The ramen and ice cream was really good! A lil pricey but delicious a the same! Hard to finish the icecream fast.enough before it starts melting though

The highlight here is their Hokkaido Milk soft serve ice cream. The milk flavor is similar to the flavor of milk in France. Like, from a special cow with more rich and creamy taste.

Otherwise, tried the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba. It was pretty good but I didn't find the noodle any different than normal udon. The ramen was average. The pork was well done and tasty.

It’s okay, but nothing special. Good service, restaurant is clear but food is average:/
We tried 4 dishes and we will not return

Probably one of the only decent food places around campus. It's a bit expensive like everywhere else near or on campus, but at least it's worth your money.

I'm really picky about dressing enough to eat homemade salad raw, but the salad dressing here is pretty good!

The chashu bowl definitely improved compared to when they first opened, but the meat was still chewier than expected.

The restaurant is clean and the service is fast and efficient.
This was my first time trying mazesoba-dry ramen. It was perfect on a hot summer day when I didn’t feel like eating hot soup. It was incredibly tasty.
Good portion, good value.

Love this place? Totally thought this was gonna be not as good as the downtown location but it's really just as good with no lineups! We had the mentaiko Mazesoba which was the favorite dish and the curry Mazesoba which wasn't as Japanese as I thought it would be, it tasted more like Indian spices. Ebi Mayo was surprisingly delicious and prawns were freshly deep fried.

The Mazezoba was amazing! I would definitely recommend adding vinegar since it adds a ton of flavor. We also had the Ninja gyoza which were just perfect. The ice cream was just okay to be honest but in general the food was just delicious.

I did togo from this place several times already but today was my first time visiting the restaurant. The food was great as always but I was disappointed at the service. The hair was in the soup but all the male server did was saying sorry one time and took forever to replace it. Also, I ordered drinks to go and I asked them if I can have the drinks when paying the bill but he told us to get it from the counter by ourselves. Food was great but I guess this place is better for takeouts.

Food was good - some amount of expectation coming in; service was good. One tip, if you want to add pepper, check the size of the opening:)

The dine-in wait times can be quite long - takeout is always an option!

Highly recommend kokoro tokyo mazesoba! That’s the best noodle I have ever tried ever! Service was friendly. I will definitely go back and try other dishes later!

I love their food, especially the ice cream. Looks super cute and very tasty. One thing bad is it melted too fast. Ramen was good too. Waited 20mins for our food which is reasonable since it was a busy night. Will definitely come visit again.

Tried the mentaiko cream udon and it was amazing! Never had anything like it before. The service was also extremely nice and a perfect place for students to grab a great meal.

I highly recommend the Niku mazesoba if you come but I find overall their dishes are VERY salty! Ramen is consistent but portions are small, so I just recommend sticking with the mazesoba.

First time trying KOKORO
I witnessed it’s popularity in downtown in 2019, and now it finally come to UBC.
The space in UBC was relatively small and it could get crowded during lunch hours.
We were seated without lining up at around 12.
Tokyo Spicy Mazesoba- I added extra bamboo shoots as I would for normal noodle soup ramen. However, this is an unnecessary add onThe sauce it comes with is already very flavourful. I like chives and seaweed flakes which spice up the taste! The noodles are tender and thicker than regular ramen. Not as thick as udon though. It could get a bit greasy and salty when the plate was nearly finished. You can ask for a bowl of free rice to finish the entire bowl. (I did, and I was stuffed)
-they also have instruction to recommend you add vinegar. I tried, vinegar worked perfectly to get rid of the greasy feeling. BUT it doesn’t taste that good
? Matcha Latte- There is some matcha power residue. Not a must try item but very refreshing.

This place is located in such a weird area. You have to enter through a building, go up stairs than walk to the right side and walk through two doors.

Besides the weird location, I thought the food was good. My go to is either the salmon one or the niku.

Great food but the service was a little slow - food took about 45 minutes and it was hard to flag down a waiter sometimes. But our waiter Wayne was very nice and efficient. He’s the best.

Fantastic 10/10 service! Takoyaki and chicken karrages are amazing! I ordered Zenbu Mazesoba and my friend ordered kokoro ramen. Both are fabulous and will definitely visit again!

Delicious food with large portions. However the price is one the higher side comparing to other restaurants in the area. The food quality was on par with downtown location.

Waited for 30 + mins and nothing has come, not even milk tea. Just a waiter came up to drive us away who repeated indifferently “we are busy and cannot make more food so you can just cancel the order”, even without a single apology and he was just gone. Was not informed the waiting time before ordering. No new customers and everyone else had food when we were waiting so didn’t even know what they were so occupied for.

Very busy at night, but food comes really quick with supreme tastes. Servers are also very helpful with high quality services.

I have never had Japanese food like this before. I've been exposed to dishes like ramen, sushi, takoyaki, and other side dishes, but mazesoba is also delicious. There were many well fitting ingredients like nori, egg yolk, green onions accompany the soba. You also get free rice! Be sure to also check out their chicken karaage with the spicy mayo: super juicy and full of flavour. Pricey for a cheap person for me but an awesome place to eat out with friends.

A bit hard to find on the second floor but entirely worth it. Quite unique type of Japanese noodles. Ask for the vinegar and look forward to the rice near the end.

Not a light meal but great if you're hungry!
