Kootenay Motors

Very overpriced, upcharged me 50% markup on a crankshaft position sensor. They refused to use the one I supplied brand new with receipt from Gilberts auto parts. Also charged me $65 to plug in a code reader. Ended up with a final bill of $830 to replace one sensor. Also didn't hear anything from them for 2 days until I called them.

FANTASTIC SERVICE! We travelled from the Okanagan for our sons hockey tournament in Nelson and our truck would not start up after checking in into our hotel. We tried everything we could then called multiple auto shops and Kootenay Motors was the only one that answered as it was almost the end of the day on a Friday. Within 2 minutes one of the technicians was at our vehicle to take a look and was able to get us up and running again in no time. Amazing customer service and awesome friendly technician helping us figure out the problem. Highly Recommended.

Brought my car in to have the AC looked at. Ray and his mechanics were professional and courteous and diagnosed the issue for me in a way 2 other shops had been unable to. Recommend.

They were able to get me in when I broke down on a work trip, vehicle was fixed the next day great service

The fuse for my power windows kept blowing so i took my vehicle to them for a deeper inspection. They put a new fuse in and charged me 160$ for what i had told them i already tried. The mechanic was really nice, and i don't fault him for trying that, but i just wish i had not been charged so much to change a fuse/something i had already tried and told them wasn't the solution

I had a friend take my car in for a inspection and a quoate on how much my car was worth. After it was done I asked what was wrong with it (my car) and they refused to give me any information because i wasn't the one who payed. They couldn't even tell me why my car squeeled after it was inspected when it hadnt before. Rude staff and unhelpfull service. I highly sugest "The Garage" if u need your car looked at. Not Kootenay Motors.

I came from Vancouver Island and was only in Nelson for a Palliative Massage course at Selkirk College. After one home visit out the Valley, what I thought was my muffler had a very significant, noisy rattle! I popped into Kootenay Motors the afternoon before my final exam and asked them (Ray Ellis) if they'd have a quick look underneath the car. I walked around and came back and all was finished! Ray handed me back the keys, explained that my heat shield had broken off the bolt and was sitting on top the muffler. He repaired it so I could get home (long 8hr drive) without listened to a noisy rattle. Life saver! Thanks for a great job Kootenay Motors.thumbs up from me!

Do not trust Kootenay Motors. I asked Ray to fix my truck but instead he took it upon himself to report me to the police because he felt it was rusty. A Service Manager @ Toyota had told me a month prior when I replaced the brakes that the frame was solid. The cops took my plates and slapped me with an inspection. It cost me about $1000 in towing, fines and inspection and now it is back on the road. Ray could have had a reasonable conversation with me but chose to be very unpleasant on the phone and in person. Save yourself the trouble.
