As of June 2022 the place looks abandonend. What is relevant to visitors is the observation deck of the building. You can see from there the whole beach. The beach is part of the Pacific Rim Nature Reserve and the parking is for a fee (like all the sites of the reserve). Beautiful beach, highly recommended.
We were just amazed looking at the waves on one stormy day! The visitor centre was closed but the deck is at the perfect place for watching the waves and having a cup of coffee.
The restaurant and shop part are now closed, I was told they closed about 5 years ago, which I am sure is not correct. To be honest, the whole centre hasn't changed much over the years, the building and boardwalk are getting tired and old. Yes, its a great location, and given the area is a jewel for Canada, it's disappointing that Parks Canada and/or local authorities don't realize this. Personally, I would be ashamed to take visitors on a special trip to the centre. Skip it, and enjoy the beaches!
The beach adjacent to the visitor center is a great place to come and relax and take in the views of the ocean. We were here for a sunset on our last visit and will never forget the awesome views. Definitely a place to discover if you're visiting florencia beach.
Great stop. Must see. Interesting. We don't get up here enough but stop here every time. So well done and interesting. And walking the beach is stunning. Short trip over to Tofino or Ucluelet. This is a beautiful place.
Outstanding presentation of coastal First Nation culture and intertidal biodiversity. If you're visiting Pacific Rim National Park Reserve make sure you stop in and explore the Kwistis Visitor centre and when you're done - consider walking the easy trail to South Beach. ️
