Also has the best spruce beer I can find anywhere outside of Quebec.

Great experience at this restaurant. Staff and owner are very friendly. Fresh poutine and great vibes. We love the atmosphere! We will be back.

**Edit: Been coming for years. Can't beat the deal on two steamed hotdogs, fully dressed. It's a place where people bother to learn your name, and everything on the menu is good!

Definition of hidden gem; the staff greet you like you're a real person, cook great food, for a decent price.

My kids and I really enjoy going here for a quick snack on our way home from school. Unfortunately today when we were there, we were told we could grab some ketchup packets off the counter for the kids corn dogs. Located close to the ketchup were small paper plates, I grabbed some ketchup and one small paper plate to put the ketchup on and noticed the owner staring at me across the counter. I could tell he was annoyed and asked if it was ok I was taking a paper plate. He angrily replied to ask him first before I take one next time. Totally surprised (I wasn’t trying to steal a paper plate!) and left quickly. Unfortunate because we like the food there but feel uncomfortable going back there again.

I'm from Japan. Poutine is one of my favorite foods. And this place Poutines are very, very great!

The poutine was delicious. One side note they do have a pay phone in case you need to call someone in 80’s.

Awesome poutine and burgers. I love spicy food, so I tried the Charlie special, and it was an instant hit that i'll definitely come back for. Lots of great poutine options to try. Would recommend!

This is the best bang for your buck in all of the island! Not to mention the best poutine and steamies, they go perfect with his own Spruce Beer! 10/10 would recommend if you're wanting an amazing meal with a great price! Costco hotdogs got nothing on La Belles steamies

Been coming here for years. I'm hooked on the all dressed steamies! Delicious! The owner is a great guy and often is in the kitchen doing orders and chatting with customers. Great atmosphere

Every time I visit this amazing restaurant, I am greated with a smile and a warm welcome. The owner, Maddi, is one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

The survice, the food, the way you feel in this restaurant, is always amazing.

Owned by a Montrealer, this is the best spot in Victoria to get proper cheese curds, and traditional steamies like in Quebec. The spruce beer is surprisingly good as well, like a ginger beer

Got a large smoked meat poutine, which was full of cubes of soft, juicy meat chunks. Got a photo of us taken and a Red Champagne for being the first customers of 2023!

Awesome food and friendly staff. I had heard about thie place for years. It did not disappoint!

Chef Matty is by far one of the best hands on restaurant owners that I've ever had the privilege of knowing and this restaurant is definitely top 2 of any eatery in Victoria. The last time I went in there I just asked for a burger and poutine of the staffs choosing and I'm still smiling from heaven eaten it. Thanks for the grub and I'll be back shortly

The guys here are very nice, and I love the poutine. I prefer just regular (cheese curds and gravy), and my man gets the meat lovers. Good, honest food. If you want healthy/diet food, skip this. If you are craving some greasy spoon - then this is the place. Yum!

Whenever I get that craving for really good poutine, La Belle Patate is always my first choice.

I suggest getting the La Belle Special with a Spruce Beer to wash it all down!

Ok, this is definitely what I would classify as a greasy spoon, there’s not much to say about the decor, but this is the best poutine around! And judging by the the steady stream of people in line, that’s not a secret. Fresh cut fries, perfectly sautéed onions, a rich and delicious gravy, a little bacon and some chicken, yeah, the supreme was just right.

Few places I truly avoid and this is one of them. Food safe - questionable. Customer service - none. Bathrooms - frightening.

Ordered beef steak platter, and it was just 2 smash burger patties and onions and gravy and a side of fries which I upgraded to a poutine.
Worst Salisbury steak I have ever had and the poutine was terrible, fries looked to be from the bottom of the basket all small burned pieces.
This is supposed to be the best place in victoria for a poutine, I will tell you it is not and I will not return to this place.

We came up to Victoria to score some of Canada’s best, and we found it. Amazing staff. They were so friendly and welcoming. And the the food was delicious. Out of this world poutine! I’d drive all the way from Oregon again just to get a fix.

This place used to be great but it absolutely sucks now. Salty, bad food and poor customer service. So weird, this place used to be great.

I think that if they had better hotdogs and better buns they could call themselves gourmet. A good dog is about the bun

Every time we come over to Victoria for a visit, we make it a habit to get the original poutine at La Belle Patate! We take it to-go and enjoy the piping hot poutine at the park across the street. I love it, my kids love it and so will you.
House-made fries drenched with perfectly seasoned beef gravy and cheese curds = flavour bombs in your mouth! So consistent, so tasty; I guarantee every morsel will be devoured within minutes.

My go place to as a Quebecer for poutine.
Poutine like you would have at a snack shack or a broken school bus in Quebec! Cheese's curds are in good quantity, fries are fried more than once and have the texture and dark brown color like in Quebec!
It is not gastronomic, but well done "home made"/ retro style food. The House burger I had too was delicious.
Each time I ordered take out it was steaming hot ready at the time they gave me!

Being that I just moved from Quebec, I was legitimately excited to try what had been touted as the best poutine place in Vic.

However, the main fella running the cash and taking orders (larger, bearded, black stud earrings) needs a hug- big time. That was easily the worse customer service I've ever experienced. He had so much attitude, and never directly answered my questions about the food. Instead, he opted to silently point at things, and mock me in front of other customers.

I'll likely give them a second chance, since poutine gravy is in my blood, but I, in total sincerity, hope this guy was just having a bad day and that I was the unlucky target for his lack of emotional control.

Otherwise, if that was his true nature, I hope his kids (if he has some?) can acquire a better role model in their lives. Yikes.

The food is tasty, the manager is friendly, but the restaurant is dirty.

Overall a good experience, although it is very expensive. Would it hurt for them to clean the place up once in a while?

Waited 45 minutes for hot dog, burger & fries. When I went to enquire if they had misplaced our order I got asked, across a room full of all the other waiting customers, “this your first time here? Hahaha! ”. How about better communication for walk in customers so we know what to expect? Just a thought. Also, fries were luke warm and the oil obviously needs changing.

Truly a master of comfort food I well definitely be adding it to the list of places worth going to every time.

Owner Matty is a great person! Fire cracker burger, Club, chicken poutine are my favs but defs got to try the smoke meat there! So good with the spruce beer! THANKS LA BELLE PATATE

Went here tonight to order some poutine. They have this cooler in the customer area that I assumed had drinks in it because they have all these posters for drinks above and around it. I take a peek inside and there wasn't. Big guy behind the counter yells at me like I'm trying to steal from him or something. Then he grills me again when I place my order, "what were you doing in our freezer, bud? " Give me a break, why even have it out there in the first place? There's no sign or lock on it or anything to indicate i wasn't supposed to touch it. And your first instinct is to yell at me? This is the last time I come here, thats for sure. There's no excuse for this level of rudeness to customers.

Is the food good? Yes. It's the best poutine in town and the price is right.

The bad: It's pretty gross inside. From my own restaurant experience, it should never get this bad.

I actually turned around and left without ordering last time after seeing a customer with no mask. The staff were saying nothing about it (I can understand), but then I noticed the head cook, who I believe is the owner, was completely maskless as well.

It's this attitude that is reflected in the state of the kitchen. I don't think I'll be going back if I see that level of disregard again.

Simple nice and great old fashion Montreal taste of the west coast. Brings back memories of traveling Quebec and grabbing smokies with my family. Great people also

They have the BEST gravy for your poutine! The portions are good too. I accidentally got a medium and could not finish it.

Love the food, but there were two employees unmasked in the kitchen today and that terrifies me, as an immunocompromised person with a vulnerable family. Would love to come back, but won't until after the pandemic is over.
