The staff is very incompetent, rude and disrespectful. They ignore my inquiries on facilities and always sit behind the desk not interacting with customers. Even asking for help is a big chore for them as they will look displeased in helping me or ignore me all together. The elderly woman is the worst of them all.

Terrible facility, never gets maintained. Dirty. Super rude staff. If you can go anywhere else pls do so.

Oh I miss this place! I used to volunteer here and the staffs were so nice and genuine. They taught me how important it is to include everyone despite their race and gender. Optimism filled the house, and my lead, Jess, was a sweet lady. As someone like me who entered the Canadian workplace culture for the 1st time, Jess empathized my position and showd me every detail of the process, making it smooth and comfortable for me to get to do what I should do, even she may seems like serious sometimes. Really appreciate her guidance, and feel pleasure volunteering there.

I went in yesterday for a tour, WOW! Very odd, there was no introduction, such as Hi I', xxxxx I can take you on a tour today we just need to see your ID and take a photo as part of our security policy. They guy just asked for ID's then sat on a computer far away from us, then after a few minutes he asked for email/phone number. There was no info given really on the gym, he just went off and started entering our info into their system. When we eventually asked what he was doing then he told us what he needed the ID for. The tour was 2 minutes and he's walking ahead of us talking but facing the opposite way so we can't hear a word he says! The gym is actually better than the pictures online show. It's also going to be knocked down in the next couple of years to build a new facility.

I don't recommend anyone to go in this branch of YMCA. They have one of the most rudest and disrespectful staff working in that facility. Talk about not having an ounce of customer service traits or even good communication skills in her.why did they even hire this girl? !

For context, I was picking up my wife from her daily workout when I heard this Jess girl (asked one of the staff for the name) was shouting at these members in the morning. I'm not sure if its like Asian hate crime but she was livid angry at some old Asian ladies. Best part is she wasn't even giving them full context of why she is pissed. I mean why would anyone shout at people like that! The disrespect! These are paying customers and she disrespects them like their ignorant human beings.

On top of that she's probably more inappropriate with the people working under her, she shouts at them constantly too for not doing their work.but mind you they are working superbly. She should look at the mirror and see that she's the one not doing anything, sits at her office and then goes out to shout and disrespect people! And that's not even the best part, this Jess girl actually shouts at the other staff there and calls them stupid right in front of their faces (this happened on another day when I picked my partner up).

I'm writing this review to give notice to the people and to YMCA that they have a very unqualified staff in their branch! And I'm tired of people with position abusing people that work under them! So if you've encountered this Jess girl please leave a review here and let's get something done with this laziness and abuse of power! Didn't have a photo to upload since they said I can't take pictures.but in any case if you're at that branch its not hard to spot her just look for the girl always shouting or the girl at the back not doing an ounce of work!

I don't know what kind of system Langara YMCA is running here but looks like a slave driven system with this Jess supervisor at the helm just bossing people around and blatantly disrespecting its members. Don't even know why people still go here? ! Or why these staff here put up with her. They should just request for transfer to another branch!

In any case, I'm telling my wife to not go back to this branch anymore. I hear the downtown one is even better and they actually respect their members!

YMCA Langara has well-organized classes. However, the frontline volunteers and staff are poorly educated. One time, I inquired the front desk woman, Alba, about the YMCA app because I could not join a class. To my surprise, she approached me behind the front desk and started yelling at me. She told me to be patient with the app even though I did not show any behaviour of urgency. Her attitude is rude and disrespectful, whilst being unknowledgeable.

Additionally, I went to play pickleball as a beginner and experienced the most horrific experience. The volunteer coordinator, Irvin, is bossy and vulgar. I understand that he is a coordinator, but he lashes out at the class participants when we don't understand some court rules. The values of "caring, respect, honesty, responsibility, and inclusiveness" are all an overstatement.

Always clean, supportive and friendly staff, and they have lots of nice classes too. It's not too crowded so I can focus on myself. Highly recommended!

The gym paper towels/spray bottle system is soo annoying. Let’s switch to wet wipes people…

Place was ok till the old white lady ruined my whole experience I myself is Nigerian and she was discriminated me while I was working out.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming! A great place to connect with neighbour's and have a work out!

Overpriced for just the gym now that the pool abd squash courts are closed since COVID 19 it's not worth it at all. Nobody attends the classes either and shower isn't even good. Staff are unhelpful and rigid.
They don't even offer a public washroom they just say "walk over to the golf course"

This place is hardly crowded so I can usually get my workout done pretty quickly. Most of the staff are very friendly and do a great job keeping the place running. One of the only cons is that they are closed from 1-3pm on weekdays. I try to go to the gym before 3pm which is when most kids get off school and the place starts getting a little busy.

Today a staff member was saying they were closed 5 minutes before their actual closing time. I only had one set left and assured her that I would finish, clean up, and leave before they closed. She was very unpleasant and kept insisting that they were already closed. Many people were still working out and stretching but she singled me out. Like I promised, I finished my set, cleaned up, and walked out the door all before closing. I don't think this experience is indicative of this establishment but this staff member was just so rude. I understand she wanted to go home but I was only trying to finish my workout before they closed.

This facility is one of the less equipped gyms. Minimal equipment. And just very old. It closes right in the middle of the day which is quite frustrating.

My friends and I have gone separately to inquire about membership and both times they don’t inform that the pool is now nonexistent. It is still listed on their website. I was told that the class schedule would change every month, which wasn’t the case. It didn’t work with my job hours. Found out much later that they would only change an instructor here and there.

I was never told how to sign up for classes on the app and so I called in. Happened to be 15 mins late and was told that it was okay and when I arrived at the class the instructor rudely told me it was too late. The staff were talking on walkie talkies about my bf and I coming upstairs for the class. And it was humiliating to be rejected once we entered the class.

I was a member 8 years ago and wanted to sign up again. But the quality and care has really gone down since. Plus what is it with universal washrooms with change rooms inside? It’s extremely uncomfortable for females to be changing surrounded by a bunch of guys. I’ve tried to reconcile it all but it was just too many things to overlook so I cancelled my membership.
