I always have nice experiences with Lion Gate hospital ultrasound department especially the techicians. I am 7 months pregnant now and my ultrasound techicians are always so kind, meticulous and patience with all my question. But today for the first time, I got male techician, he was in rush, and my ultrasound only took 15 minutes (I waited for 30 minutes before being called). Then when I asked about my babies's weight, he didn't want to tell me. He said doctor will tell me. I asked for 3 times until I mentioned I have gestational diabetes and lost weight, and I need to know the weight of my babies (twins). Then he said he was going to ask the doctor. Others techician always know and answer my question, full of compassion and not in rush.

When he did the ultrasound, he even dropped the gel bottle on my stomach, very unprofesional. He only could get my baby A picture, his excuse is baby B was facing down. Other techician always able toget the pictures even my babies facing down.

The last thing is when he gave me the pictures (baby A). He didn't tell me their weight untill I urged to ask him again and he said around 1300gr and 1400gr. I am not even sure it's true or no.he just seemed to want me to go away immediately. It's a very bad experience for me today.

I love others techician, but not this one.

We had an excellent experience during my daughter's overnight surgery. Staff were lovely in the pediatric unit, we were grateful for the smooth experience.
Also, free parking provided for us by the hospital!

Dr. Wilson was thorough, attentive and very helpful. Couldn’t be better!
The nurses & staff were helpful as well.
My experiences at lions gate hospital, have always been very good.

I'm a North Shore resident, and I really don't understand what the point of this emergency is. After a few hours, everyone give three Tylenol? Terrible service and system. It's really cruel and demoralizing to the people who come to the hospital for help.

Dr Wilson in Emergency is the best and radiology department. I forgot the name of the Docor Radiologist interventionists name but he saved my life alobg with the nurses on shift that night. Thank you.

I had a very positive experience with a nurse and Dr.at Lions Gate the other morning. Dr. Egelston (not sure of exact spelling), a resident Dr.in the E. R, and a nurse, Christie, were extremely thorough and kind, when I came in with pelvic pain and other symptoms. I have never had such exceptional medical care. The Dr.even followed up with me a couple days later, with a pertinent lab result, and proceeded to suggest a reasonable course of treatment.
Both women are amazing health care professionals, and our community is lucky to have them working at Lion's Gate.

This is my first time visiting a hospital in Canada in 10 years!
All these years I have heard bad comments about Canadian Healthcare!

Yesterday I came in with severe symptoms of sinusitis. My blood pressure, and pulse/heart rate and ears were not checked and i was sent away to get over the counter medication. I awoke for the 11th day of my illness feeling even worse and went to a walk in clinic where they discovered I have an ear infection as the sinusitis had gone systemic. I am very surprised that my illness was not taken more seriously with a proper checkup and I am very disappointed in the medical system at Lions Gate hospital. On the plus side, the staff were nice.

Poor System! No Planning?

My father was required to take daily intravenous antibiotics for two weeks so a IV line/site was prepared for his arm for easy daily access.

On weekends we have no choice to go to Emergency department, we return to the hospital there is a new reason for massive delays for a what should be a less than 45min visit. Instead they order the antibiotics from a few floors up and it takes 3hrs for that order to be delivered.
Then we wait for a nurse to be available for an additional 45-90min, then he is hooked up and administered the antibiotic (~30 minutes).
The next day will be a similar wait time but different problems. Can we NOT in the 21st Century solve this problem? Can they not order the antibiotics ahead of our arrival? Its 3rd world performance in a Canadian Hospital. Appalling!

We’ve spent A LOT of time at LGH and always have great service. Yes, the wait times can be long, but the over-worked, under-appreciated team there does the best job they can. Kudos to you LGH Heroes! We hope to see you again soon…but not too soon!

The ER needs some improvement. Intake was done slowly with nurses joking about how they hadn’t found the right pressure cuff, I was clearly in pain. Then when I went to wait after registration. I was there for 4 hours. Very quick ultrasound done by the ER doctor, gave me low painkillers, didn’t even bother to put me in a room. She completely missed what was going on, it was diagnosed by another ER doctor at another hospital. Same symptoms, no hesitation to run in depth testing. Your ER doctors need to learn to listen to the patient and get some compassion.

It is pretty messed up how the "owner" of this hospital responds to these comments. Anyone who is in unhappy, gets a robotic response, which basically says they are making it up. " We are sorry you "feel" you had a bad experience". Over and over. They aren't imagining there experiences. I have had many terrible experiences here with my mother. It is not made up. It is the truth. This hospital needs help, many of the nurses are evil and lack compassion. Definitely not a job I would do. But then again I didn't apply for a job as a nurse. Like they did. The worst employee hands down is the Older lady with neck length dark hair, and square glasses that works the X-ray front desk. That woman is rude, hates her job, and hates people. Rips things out of sick old people's hands, can barely make eye contact, and doesn't know how to smile. She has been this way everytime I am there with my mom. Not just with us, with everyone. I watch her Why is she the one who greets the patients? She should be folding towels in the basement

Love the Maternity clinic, labour and delivery Department, they took a good care of me so far, n I’m happy with their services. I appreciate all doctors and nurses they are kind, welcoming n caring which makes me calm. N I’m going for delivery here in 3-4 weeks time

Update I had natural delivery my on call doctor was dr Lawson (i hopI spelling is correct) she is an excellent doctor, experienced and I felt I’m in good hands. Happy healthy baby 4/124 kg. Every thing went well.

Seriously the nurses, staff and doctors are the best. My husband received second to none care at Lions Gate Hospital. Shout out to the 7th Floor East Nurses for the excellent care my husband received in the NCCU! They really put the care in health care. I hope you all get the raise you deserve! Also Dr Mendelsohn who gave my husband his quality of life back. Thank you thank you thank you

Still making people that enter wear masks. It's quite ridiculous and really just COVID theater. There's no science behind this and in fact science says that these masks do nothing to prevent the spread of COVID.

Hospital was busy and I didn't want to go, but UPCC sent me over. Despite the long wait, I was treated with compassion and patience, my health issues were addressed and I appreciate the care I received from Dr. Cassidy and Dr. Lai and their teams. Thanks so much!

Lost all of my valuable IDs when transferring to another patient room, they took my things without even asking where they put it. Ended up losing everything. They were rude and ignored me. I was 16 and depressed. No one cared, the staffs and nurses were cold. One or two good doctors, but doesn’t make this hospital any better. The psychiatrist had a terrible attitude and was not patient at all. When I left I heard an old lady screaming for help on her portable bed but none of the nurses went up to her, I told a doctor she needed help and they just told me to ignore her. The worst hospital ever existed. DO NOT RECOMMEND at all means.

My partner Nicholas carton was a patient here, he is a young man and was treated very unfairly by the nurses, he asked for a sandwich and the staff proceeded to throw it on the bed for him and left / he asked what pharmacy would be opened and the nurse proceeded to say “Google it”. Tbh I don’t think this is how nurses should be behaving in a professional manner, if you don’t like your job then quit please. Instead of making people feel uncomfortable

In the emergency, First Aid area Dr. Wang is very professional, works hard, is kind, and is very patient, even with a very unreasonable patient who was told healthy but refused to leave, she seems just to need to talk with other people.

Last week, at 9: 30 pm my younger son who is 17 years old got abdominal pain.he admitted to the emergency room and all necessary tests and imaging were done till 12: 00 am, diagnosed with acute appendicitis. Next day, at 10: 00 am he was operated by Dr. Kuo through laparoscopy. We were home at 4: 00 pm. He was recovered completely after three days. I was impressed by the quality and time spending on my boy. I appreciate all work have done by all staff and doctors and nurses.

Nice clean facility, not much waiting. The day I went in with my daughter around 11am, first aid department nurse was very rude, no help. She couldn't sit or walk because she had ACL surgery 4 days ago. Asked for ice and some pillow and something to rest her leg on as she wasn'tallowed to sit by hanging it down. Nobody gave it to me. She was just sitting and crying.then shift changed and that nurse was ok.

My mom was in the Cardiac Ward and had to go for Emergency surgery at St Paul’s. The moment she got there it was awful. They didn’t attend to her. Didn’t check her blood pressure which was through the roof. Didn’t connect her leads to her heart. Offered no food and she diabetic. The next am they told her she would be going for her Angiogram. Well no that didn’t happen and no one told her. She sat there until
1pm without food or an nurse coming to see her. The same thing happened the next day. They messed up on her medication several times. The staff were very rude. They wouldn’t transfer her back to the Sunshine Coast. They offered her a ride to the ferry with no clothes. I am very disappointed. Thank god for St Paul’s hospital for saving her life.
Much more happened but this gives you an idea of their care. Very disappointed.

North Vancouver Lions gate Hospital emergency is a catastrophe! On Jan/28th/2023 We had to wait 4 and a half hours to see a doctor with my wife crying loudly in pain and the emergency staff would not even care to come see why! They are so calus! I had to ask several times to finally get very little attention! Other patients felt so sorry for us! 5 hours wait in excruciating pain and all my wife got was 3 pain killer pills and a pre-ultrasound and was told they are afraid of assisting the miscarriage! The doctor said: Go home and bleed to full miscarriage alone (if you did not die first) at home! Goodness is this Canada? !? !? !? !? !? !

The nurse who’s named Karen, in the emergency on the Oct 24th, at around 13: 00 pm, was absolutely terrible. Act like an evil, not understanding, even didn’t let me ask a question, interrupted me with rudeness… honestly someone has to look after her. After her another guy came to us, not bad but not happy with him either. They left me with IV. I came home and I had to remove it myself. They even didn’t help me for discharge. Doctors were freaking nice & respectful but both nurse who help me were terrible. I were looking for nurses to get help, but they completely ignored me. I was waiting literally 24hrs from Oct 23rd, 6: 00 pm until Oct 24th at around 6: 00 pm in emergency for a neurologist but that dr never showed up and finally they discharged me…

The staff were so humorous, kind, and caring. The doctors, nurses, and staff were all positive and accommodating despite having many patients, most with serious issues. They are well-organized and go above and beyond in what they are doing. Dr. Erik Jaeger treated me. He was reassuring and gentle; he informed me of what was happening and ensured that I got the care I needed. He referred me to a specialist and booked an ultrasound appointment for the next day. I am grateful to all Lions Gate staff, including the housekeepers, who made me feel comfortable during a very stressful time for my family and me.

I have been a patient at LGH many times over the years. Both my sons were born there so l look upon it fondly! Last surgery was done in May, 2018 and under the wonderful caring hands of Dr Gul, Neurosurgeon. He gave me back my life after being in intense pain with pinched nerves in my lower back!

Recently l have been attending the hand clinic after a MVA in September 11 this year. I had occasion to visit the cafeteria. What a dismal experience, rude and inattentive staff, expensive and dreadful food! No proper utensils to eat a goop that was passed off as soup! Such a shame for an otherwise positive experience! I wrote ti the company that governs the cafeteria but received no response!

Thank you to the multiple nurses, doctors and administrators who took such good care of me while I was here for day surgery. I was treated with so much compassion and empathy I felt completely at ease. I am very grateful for their stellar service.
