The artist that I have been going to is Ashley Horncastle and she is not only an artistic genius; she works quick and doesn't purposefully take longer to double-down on cost like other artists/studios Ashley completed a 1/2 done tattoo and did such an amazing job - turned out way better (and cheaper) than what was started with her taking over! I then had her touch up 2 older tattoos and they are more beautiful now than when I first got them!
The shop is clean, modern, lovely, welcoming, temperature controlled with large windows and natural light. All the staff and artists are warm and friendly - no attitudes or aggressive egos - they are all professional, helpful, inclusive and delightful

I absolutely loved my experiences here with Calahan and recommend him to all looking for beautiful tattoos, kind conversation, a supportive environment, and friendly staff. I’ve had a few tattoos from Calahan and love them all! During consults, he was able to ask the right questions to get my vision - things I didn’t think to bring up myself. He also took his time with my questions both in consult and at the appointment to be sure I loved my new piece - and I do! The studio is very clean, people are kind, and the booking process was smooth. I’ll definitely be going back here for more!

This place is amazing! I had done a ton of research looking at different artist's portfolios that best fit my idea and I found Ashley Horncastle! I asked if she could do a portrait of my late dog in the studio ghibli-ish style and she absolutely nailed it. Like made my husband cry nailed it. Ashley was the easiest person to talk to and just genuinely one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. She made the whole session a breeze, at times I forgot I was getting a needle stabbed into me.

Booking with them was also super easy with clear instructions of what to do and what to expect next. Everyone there from reception to other artists were the friendliest bunch. 100% recommend to both newbies and tat veterans

I got my very first tattoo here almost 5 months ago every single day I wake up still completely mesmerized by the incredible art I now have on my body.

My tattoo artist was Amelia and she was just phenomenal. She triple checked that I loved the art work, as well as the stencil placement, and then got right down to work. She made sure I was comfortable and kept checking up on me and making sure I was okay, and if I needed water/a bathroom break. She was overall so incredibly sweet and compassionate, and her talent is truly indescribable.

The atmosphere of the shop was so welcoming and comforting. Everything was very clean and tidy, the other clients/artists were very nice and easy to talk to, and the layout/decor was just so beautiful.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would because this experience was truly amazing. This tattoo is very meaningful to me and I’m so grateful it is even more beautiful than I could of imagined. I’ve been complimented by countless strangers, and have recommended Amelia and this shop to all my friends, family, and every single person to compliment it.

Had my first tattoo done 2 weeks ago with Angel. He was so kind and explained everything thoroughly, including how it would feel, and made sure I was ready before ever touching my skin with the tattoo machine. I was very impressed. Shop was immaculate and everyone was kind and friendly to this middle-aged newbie. I'm coming back to get a bigger tattoo done by Kylah in a couple of days. I'm very excited. Liquid Amber is where you should get all of your tattoos! The people are friendly, and hygeine/ sanitization is paramount. Ashley Horncastle has done my last 3 tattoos, as she's not only an incredible artist with a light touch, but she's also kind and very approachable. Plus, Ashley produces beautiful work across a variety of tattoo styles.

I got a tattoo here about two years ago. The artist was not very skilled, I myself was naïve and didn't know how to properly judge an artist's work. The tattoo was applied with too much pressure and the ink looks blotchy and fuzzy especially where my skin is thin. A good artist should know how to make clean lines with the correct amount of pressure. I will be getting this tattoo removed.

Got an amazing tattoo, a little expensive but the quality is worth it, would like to slowly build a leg sleeve from this place

Been coming here for Miranda's tattoos for about a year now. I've spent many hours on the table, and on top of it always being a great time, I'm quite happy to say she's also a very talented artist. She's done a killer job on my tattoos and I have zero complaints.

Wonderful experience with this shop. From the first contact, getting connected with an artist, working with the artist (Aly) and finally the visit to the shop. Good communication throughout the experience, solid Covid protocols in the shop and Aly was fantastic. She made good suggestions and gave helpful feedback when discussing the tattoo design. I had such a great experience here. The team at Liquid Amber is very warm and welcoming. My artist Aly completely put me at ease and made an experience I was initially anxious about into a comfortable and positive experience.

Most importantly, I’m beyond happy with the result of my tattoo. Aly was very detail oriented and attentive of my thoughts to ensure that I would receive a piece of artwork I would love.

I looked around for a while before deciding on liquid amber tattoo and it was the BEST decision I made. The staff were all extremely friendly - from setting up my appointment to consultation everything was made to run smoothly. I had 10 little tattoos done by Amelia in one sitting and I could not be happier with the results. She explained everything throughly - listened to what I liked and wanted and gave her insight and expertise when I was unsure. She was realistic which is exactly what you want from your artist (in my opinion). She genuinely wanted me to be happy with the results and have what I wanted. She was completely realistic when it came to the sizes so that the tattoo wouldn’t later be compromised. She went above and beyond my expectations. She’s very sweet, easy to talk to when you’re sitting for a long time and extremely accommodating. Her line work is amazing as I got several script tattoos and they look so clean and well done. She will be my go to person in Vancouver for my upcoming tattoos and I’d recommend her a 1000x over.

Also in regards to getting a tattoo during COVID they were extremely prepared. The shop was super clean and they thought of everything. The amount of gloves I seen each artist go through and washing their hands anytime they left their station I was amazed and completely at ease!

I had a great session yesterday at Liquid Amber. Front desk receptionist was welcoming and helpful with informing me on their COVID19 safety protocols. Milo did my tattoo and it turned out fantastic! You can tell that Milo is passionate about art and tattooing, not to mention full of talent. I couldn't be happier with my first tattoo. Milo put in a lot of effort to show me different sizes and shapes of the design and ensured that it was lined up properly. Fun conversations with the other artists in the room as well. Got a tattoo from Lauren and she was fantastic! The tattoo came out better than I had imagined. She was very professional, constantly making sure that I was comfortable and feeling okay, but she was also incredibly friendly and easy to chat with. The store has a great feel, and all the staff were lovely, I'd highly recommend this studio.

The experience I had at Liquid amber was by far the best overall that I have had from any tattoo place. I booked with Aly and she was so helpful and patient with me In figuring out what I wanted with little to no reference and absolutely nailed it! She read my mind with what I was looking for with shading and detail and I could not be happier with the results. Great experience! Worked with Amelia to get a matching tattoo with my sister. Amelia was really nice and professional and helped us narrow down exactly what we wanted. My Tattoo with Jin was a fantastic experience. Despite the problems posed by Covid, I felt that the studio was a clean and safe space. The artists were all friendly, and I felt welcome for the duration of my session. The talent and skill of the artists are second to none, and I feel honored to bear their work.

Let me preface by saying I've been a client at Liquid Amber for over 10 years and during my time getting tattooed here I have always felt safe and welcome.until Kelsey. Whenever I interact with this individual I am met with a cold and rude demeanor. Kelsey is not the type of energy Liquid Amber is known for and I can't imagine how new clients would feel being met with her attitude. Additionally, she is incredibly bad at her job. Whenever she is working the phones are not being answered. Kelsey acts as though she is doing you a favor by doing a job she is being paid for. I would highly recommend Liquid Amber reconsider her employment as she reflects poorly on such an incredible establishment.

This is the best tattoo experience I have ever had. From the friendly booking, consult and day off appointment it was all very professional and great. Ania is an incredible artist. She was so nice as well. Her ability to shade in and contour is mesmerizing. I am so happy with my two pieces. I really cannot say enough nice things about this place and the people. Another sweet artist even made me a pillow from a bunch of small pillows to help my back from being in an odd angle all day. Just an all around fantastic, welcoming and wonderful day well spent getting work done here.

As someone who feels a lot of anxiety around getting tattoos, I highly recommend this place. The staff here are encouraging and friendly and work hard to make sure that you are satisfied with your experience. They love answering questions and are very informative about the tattooing process and after care.

I recently got a tattoo by Milo. During the consultation and the two sessions, Milo was both professional and very friendly. Also, most importantly, he created a piece that I absolutely love. He’s a brilliant artist and I look forward to returning to him with more tattoo ideas.

The receptionist was really rude and didn't seem to know how the business booked artists. She couldn't answer any of my questions and kept me that all the info was on their website and refused to answer any questions if she knew the information was online. Even asking I haven't seen the info on the website can you just answer my question she refused to. Not impresesed with that interaction.

My experience was fantastic. Everyone there was very kind and professional. My artist understood exactly what I wanted and delivered with time to spare. She was easy to talk to and gentle with the needle. She put a lot of detail and love into my tattoo and it shows! I was so happy when I left. I would definitely recommend Liquid Amber (and Aly, as she was my artist). Thank you a million times for such a positive experience! I'll definitely be coming back.

Had an initial consult with Miranda and she nailed my vision right away (she's the expert right?). Had my appointment 2 weeks later. The studio is immaculately clean and organized. Everything is wrapped in plastic and there is a noticeable attention to detail regarding sanitation. The tattoo itself took about 3 hours. The pain was minimal, only a minor irritation really and I felt like she truly took pride in her work. I am more than thrilled at the result. I had looked at various studios in Vancouver and continued to focus on coming to Liquid Amber. I am glad I did!

I was tattooed here by Aly Brooke who is legitimately one of the nicest, most professional, and impressive artists I've ever worked with. First off she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable, putting up extra dividers when we were tattooing a part of my body that made it so I had to take off my shirt. She was very good at checking in on my pain and comfort level during the entire session. I've been tattooed by Aly multiple times and every time I feel like she really listens to my ideas and does an excellent job of making them come to life in a unique and wonderful way. I am always proud to have Aly's art on my skin! I would recommend this shop and Aly to everyone, such a good experience to go with amazing tattoos.

Liquid Amber had been and still is a clean, professional, and simply an enjoyable studio to visit. The artists and team are all lovely welcoming individuals. I was lucky enough to get my first tattoo done here by Lauren and it was the perfect experience. Everyone did a wonderful job making sure I was informed and comfortable during my visit. I loved my experience here and I plan to get work done here again!

I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cool, clean, and comfortable place to get some body modification done!

My only note is that I dont believe it is wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up to the door and a second level accessible by stairs. I did not ask, so if you are unable to use stairs I suggest calling and just double checking!

Ashley did awesome work and was a pleasure to be poked by. Could not be happier with how my tattoo turned out as she has awesome artistic insight and ideas as to what makes a good tattoo. The honey comb, bees and flowers were set to fit very nicely around my existing artwork too.

How can I give this place any more than 1 star when it is so hard to book a session with the artist of your choice? I sent a request for a specific artist, after about a week I received a response that they haven't heard back from the artist so I will have to pick someone else and suggested another artist. Since I had looked at this artists work, I wasn't sure if he was the right artist. So I suggested 2 more artists that I was interested in.

One of them wasn't taking new clients apparently and the other one didn't want to do it. I will find someone else. Thank you!

Terrific tattoo studio in downtown Vancouver! Their artists are incredible, professional, and the banter in the studio is both entertaining and a welcome distraction from the needle pain! I definitely recommend!
