Little Bavaria Restaurant

Had the Sauerbraten, the meat was tough and dry, very disappointing. The sauce lacked flavour and was nothing special. The veggies and red cabbage were good and there were lots.

I've had the pleasure of eating here many times - and it's always fantastic! The food is delicious (the bratwurst is my personal go-to), the service is spectacular, and the deserts are to die for (lemon chocolate cheesecake, oh my goodness). One of the very best restaurants in Port Alberni, and arguably, the entre island!

This is a smaller restaurant, so I would definitely recommend reservations. Walk-in at your own risk - of disappointment. I wish I had a picture of the yummies to go with my review, but the food disappears far too fast to even think about a photo.

Honestly one of the best here in port I had a steak with garlic prawns and actually got decent portions AND good food left leaving satisfied and full (and with some leftovers)

Incredible food in generous portions. Very friendly staff. Wonderful beer. What more do you need? My buddy and I, both big eaters, shared the platter for two. Couldn't eat it all. Giant, and every scrap delicious.

This is a must if you are in town or passing through! Amazing food, great service, and a top notch ambiance!

Fun, traditional German fare with atmosphere that brings you back to Bavaria. Plates for two are HUGE.loved it!

We hadn't been in since the new owner purchased. I was so happy to see it was still just as amazing as before. Food was great and service was also amazing. Felt so good to be back.

There's clearly a reason this place has so many good reviews. The interior is small but it is well ornamented with flags, steins, photos and hats. Everything was free if dust and looked well cared for. The servers were friendly, fast and professional.

Now the food was something else. When we were walking in someone was leaving with a few boxes of takeout food and just said "The Platter" as he walked by. Two of us ordered the Bavarian Platter and it was immense. 6 schnitzel, a mountain of spatzle, sauerkraut and red cabbage, mushrooms, steamed veggies, bratwurst and pan fried potatoes. We barely made it through half.

Lots of leftovers! I spent the evening telling friends why they have to come visit.

Love this place and the platters for two are sooo huge and a good value that you'll be eating leftovers for days!

Jagerhof atmosphere (including polka). Delightful service and deeply satisfying German classic cuisine. The schnitzel is spot on, and the liver and onions are next level.

I can't over recommend this restaurant. The service was amazing - friendly and quick staff. The food was incredible! My husband said it was just like his Oma's.

Service is a refreshing delight. Our server was kind, calm, attentive, and cheerful. Everything was delicious. The dining room is cool and quiet. I thought the lights were a little dim but I got used to it. Far better experience than most restaurants just about anywhere.

The place to eat and celebrate in Port Alberni. An institution! Try the seafood schnitzel!

I love their Wienerschnitzel. It's as good as I had in Germany in 1971. This is the restaurant we choose for special occasions. Sorry I didn't post a picture but it was so good I didn't think about it until after it was gone.

I have seldom enjoyed a restaurant meal more. There was nothing about this meal that wasn't outstanding in every way. The food was delicious, generous, and everything from the sauces to the salad dressings to the red cabbage was home made. If you have any dietary restrictions, they know exactly the ingredients of everything they serve. The chef/owner came out and visited with each table to make sure everyone was happy. And last but not least the wait staff.our waitress was Michelle, a person who clearly enjoys her job, is proud of where she works and knows the menu inside and out. We did not have a reservation (and you REALLY should make one), but she found a spot for us, threw on a clean tablecloth, and made us feel like family. It is a small and very popular spot, and quite often too busy for walk-ins, so they strongly recommend reservations. GREAT SPOT FOR DATE NIGHT, BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARY, OR JUST CUZ.

Food was absolutely delicious (especially the lemon garlic buttered prawns)! I highly reccomend to anyone for a delicious and filling meal, at a reasonable price point. Cocktails were also well made (we had Pina colada, long Islands and specialty coffees after dinner) and service was friendly. All in all it was a great birthday dinner.

Sat in an amazing little comfortable booth for well needed date night with the wife.waitress was super friendly and attentive.food was amazing.the chicken/seafood never let's you down and after a pint of 1816 combined with the richness of the sauce means you usually get full and get to take some home for a midnight snack. 10/10 our favorite place to get out and eat in Port alberni

Food is just average but priced as if it's gourmet. Service is excellent, but I don't believe this place deserves the rating it currently has. Old time Port Alberni loves this restaurant hence the amazing rating it has, however we brought some out of town friends here and neither they nor us were impressed. It's iconic because of its age but nothing more.

Owner does his rounds to see how everyone is doing, great food though I do not have a lot of similar comparables. Nice atmosphere where you can dress up or down and not feel out of place. Enough atmosphere to celebrate a romantic event or just go to dinner.
