Both the food and the service is unreal! Highly recommend if you are looking for great sushi!

An unassuming restaurant that impressed me with the quality of food and fair prices within walking distance of Commercial skytrain station!

Chirashi don had 10 pcs of seafood for ~$16 including a piece of unagi which I haven't seen before in a chirashi don but it was tasty! Fish was really good quality. Rice is flavoured with a fragrant sesame oil but also had some heat to it? It was very interesting, a step up from your usual sushi rice.

Ebi Mayo tasted fresh and prawn pieces were quite large. An order came with 6 pcs so this is a good sharing appetizer.

Service was okay and friendly enough, though it was hard to track someone down for anything. Maybe they were short staffed! Will continue to come if quality/prices remain a good value:)

The service here was wonderful, very attentive and very nice The sushi was very good but portions small so was not very full. Ordered a boat for 2, it did not come as a boat but on a regular wooden board.

Service was lovely. But food portions were small, not a lot of seating inside, and the price point is high for the portion/quality.

Fave sushi place in Vancouver for a $$ price point. Delicious and their portion sizes are on the larger size. They have great veggie options as well. Gomae is perfection. I find when I first arrive the staff takes a bit to come take your order but I am patient enough.

Got the chicken Katsu and was awful. I bit into the chicken and it was mucus like… (see photo) not sure if that was a breaded egg or what. No Katsu sauce. Meat was terrible should of got something else.

Everything about this place is lovely.
Their vegan options are yummy and creative.
They pay attention to details and the food presentation is beautiful.
The staff is very friendly and attentive.
Highly recommend.

I’ve been a regular at Loku since they were at their Broadway location, and the food is almost always 100% on point. Their special rolls and aburi rolls are some of the best in the city (the kamikaze roll is a must-try) and they’ve managed to keep prices competitive without sacrificing quality. It’s my go-to sushi spot and it should probably be yours too, tbh.

Great atmosphere. Awsome service. The food is top notch. I even tried things that I don't usually eat and no complaints.

Pros:
The servers are very kind, the location is great, the decor is nice, and the prices are reasonable.

Cons:
Sitting near the window close to sunset is insufferable. The sun will be blinding you and your friends and there's nothing that can be done about it. If I wasn't with an out of town guest, I would have left immediately on this point alone.

The service was super slow. It was 6pm and we were one of only 2 groups in the restaurant. From sitting down, it took 35 minutes for us to order, despite me trying to wave down one of the two servers.

The quality of food wasn't great. Mind you I didn't get good poisoning, the raw salmon we received was extremely chewy and stringy and the tuna tasted like a tin can and not like a tuna fish.

Summary:
The guests I had enjoyed the restaurant, which is the main thing, and I feel I just got them on a bad day and time. However, despite that, in good faith I wouldn't recommend this place as a first choice.

If you are looking for traditional Japanese sushi, is not here, creative menu, friendly staff, beautiful environment, most importantly, it's not expensive lol

I had high hopes with all of the good reviews but completely disagree with them. The service was good but that's where it stopped. I ordered the lunch alaska combo that included a BC roll.

I usually brown rice but as is fairly common, they only had white. The white rice was clearly old as it tends to harden when it does. It had a congealed, unpalatable texture.

The BC roll seemed to be using a fried salmon skin. It had been fried in what tasted like 3 day old rancid oil. I know that the skin can get quite fishy quickly but that wasn't what this was. The oil had a burnt, acrid taste to it.

The last issue was the sweet sauce drizzled on the Alaska roll was so incredibly sweet. I know many people can handle more sweetness than me so some may enjoy this, but not me.

The pleasant layout is still reminiscent of the jam jar that used to inhabit this address. That's unfortunately the most positive thing I can say about the experience. I will also say, I was at the end of the lunch menu and there was only ever one other table the whole time. Not sure if this taxed the 3 cooks or not.

Not recommended

I phoned this place up 10 times just to try and make a reservation but the call could never get through. No response on other means of communications ie Facebook.

Reasonably priced, decent portion.and it offers something different than your typical Japanese restaurant.

We had the tuna nachos, the loku aburi set, and the magma roll between the two of us.

Both food and service were good. Would come back again

I'm sorry to have to deliver this review as I've had good experiences with Loku in the past (both at their old location and the new one on Commercial).

My partner and I got takeout and were carrying the food home in the paper bag they gave us when one of the handles snapped off. We salvaged most of the food, but all the fish and greens on a bowl were ruined on the dirty ground.

We called to explain the situation and asked if they could potentially cut up some fish and greens and we'd walk back and get them, but they said it wasn't possible.

We've been loyal customers, always tipping generously even for takeout, but I doubt we'll be back.

If I could give 0 stars I would. 2 of us arrived at 8: 30pm to be told they are closing and already did last call. Last time I checked, their hours state they are open till 9pm. Since when do you start closing a restaurant before the actual closing hour. If you don't want to be in business, close it down. Will never come back to even give them a try.

Heads up! They are open 11: 30-3: 30 for lunch. We popped in at 2: 50 for a quick lunch and were turned away. I was puzzled as their sign clearly states they are open until 3: 30pm.sadly, I won’t return and don’t recommend it.

If your hours state you are open for another 40 minutes or even half hour, you should seat your guests. If you don't want to seat anyone after 2: 50 or 3: 00, your sign should read that you close at 2: 50 or 3: 00 so we don't feel so rushed or refused to be served.

Incredible sushi and wonderful service. We started with coconut crunch tuna and appetizer sashimi was amazing. My friend ordered the aburi collection and oshi avocado was super fresh and delicious. I can say that it was the best sushi I've ever had. I can’t believe we found this wonderful gem!

First visit, good sushi. They gave dry ice decorations on table of guys dinning. Not sure why we didn't get the decoration. My friend said she got it when dinned alone. Maybe they knew I had to get back to work?

Best sushi on commercial. The prices could be better. Such as free tea (standard). However the sushi is perfectly flavourful. If you wish to introduce someone to sushi, this is the place. I personally recommend their salmon maki as it is flavourful perfect quality that is the standard anyone should expect from sushi. And flavourful sushi means EVERYTHING!

A very good hidden Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood! You'll enjoy food from the moment you see it till the end. It's beautifully served and absolutely delicious! You can realize how much effort and care they put in each piece you eat! Definitely recommend oshisushi avocado and salmon.

Sushi was not fresh and smelled. The service of server was not cool. This it not a fault of the server i think, a fault of the owner absolutely. Go to other sushi restaurant guys.

My favorite place in Vancouver. Every single menu I tried here was tasty and very satisfying. Service was attentive and super friendly.

We had an amazing dinner for my daughter's 9th birthday. Everything we ordered was delicious. Loku combo platter including beef and tuna tataki roll was amazing and perfectly presented. Excellent service and worth waiting in line so we could get a table.

I LOVE Loku sushi! Was devastated when the original location shut down but delighted to find it even closer and in a fresh setting. The service is always friendly and food is always fresh and delish - Platter A is the bomb for you bargain hunters and the aburi sushi is fantastic.

Every plate that arrived was prepared thoughtfully and in good timing. Would highly recommend the house rolls. Great stuff!

Call me crazy but I think Commercial, Ginger and Britannia are all just as good, cheaper and with better service. That being said, the veggie and vegan options here are delicious. Good sake too.

Wowww. We walked into this place because our first two choices for restaurants were full. I'm so glad we did! The sushi was phenomenal. It's a new favorite of ours.
It was a hot day and they were closing early (like tons of restaurants in Vancouver) so I was really sad to see a few walk in customers yell at the servers.

We got takeout and I have to say it was the BEST takeout sushi I've ever had. We were just too hot to cook anything and had friends coming over, so we thought we would pick up from Loku since it's the closest sushi joint to us. We'd only eaten there once before (and it was great!) so we figured why not. We definitely need to eat there more often.

Usually I find sushi places sort of slap everything together for takeout orders and it never seems as good as dining in, but our meal was FANTASTIC. Everything was prepared carefully. The oshisushi (we had spicy tuna, salmon and avocado) was amazing. Amazing! Gyoza were crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside. Even the more basic rolls like avocado or veggie were really good and a cut above other places (I'm vegetarian, so I know my way around an avocado roll!). Our friends were also super impressed.

What we thought was just going to be a typical takeout sushi dinner turned out to be a delicious feast. Bravo!

Terrible service from server. Visited there on Jun 19 around 2 pm, and the server has a horrible attitude. If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. I don't recommend here to anyone and it was my first and last time going there. She was the worst server ever!

- I think server doesnt want to get order. I waited so long.
- When she brought the meals, she quietly came without saying a word and left it noisy.
- I ordered a hot noodle dish. She brought a hot plate with burner, and without saying a word, she brought burner through my head.

I usually love to try new dishes each time I come to a restaurant. But here, I keep ordering Ocean Dream Roll, over and over. Try it, thank me later.

Frequent this establishment over the years. Vegan options clearly marked. Acrylic panels between each panel for covid and employees wear masks. Good food

I’m a fan of Loku and have been a regular since their Broadway location. Unfortunately, when I visited last Sunday to get take-out, one of their chefs prepared my family’s dinner, without a mask on. I figure that if Loku’s people aren’t following provincial health guidelines I’ll have to eat somewhere else. I’m disappointed by this and will miss their oshi sushi. Although I won’t go back, my hope is that their management will read this post and change their practices.

It's a very chic modern Korean sushi joint with many options. It's defiantly better quality than some of the other Korean sushi places you go to for a quick bite or takeout. The service is slow, even though it wasn't busy.

The aburi sushi here is fantastic. The only reason its not 5 stars is due to slow service & because we asked for no wasabi but it was still on the plate.

New favorite sushi spot on the drive. Service is great, and they have so many delicious vegan options. Everything is super fresh! Favorites are the avocado aburi oshi roll, veggie gyoza, house green salad (has yam chips and pickled beets!) and the spinach gomae.

Vegan oshisushi IS SO GOOD! Don’t sleep on it folks, I did and I regret it so much. Ahhhh the perfect balance of juicy, smoky and a little kick of heat from the jalapeño. I’m going to be back so often for this!

Good sushi but not great. Overpriced for what you get. Down the street there is another sushi restaurant less aesthetically pleasing but the sushi is way better and cheaper.

Why have a not been here before? No Ely presented dishes, generous portions and a nice restaurant overall, definitely will be coming back

The food looks beautiful. However, I ordered salmon bento, but the dumplings and rice are like in the soy sauce pool, they put too much in cause it was too salty and wet.

Delicious sushi at reasonable prices. The specialty rolls are great. The aburi pressed sushi is well worth the price.

Loku is now my new favorite place for sushi. They have an extensive menu that includes conventional sushi but also has so many vegan options. The customer service is phenomenal. The local is comfortable and central in the commercial drive area. I literally will drive from both vancouver to pick up this sushi. It’s phenomenal.

Really good sushi (especially for the price too) and amazing service by the one server that was working. There were so many vegan options and the veggie gyoza were the best I’ve had in Vancouver. Will be back to try other items on the menu!

Food is really good, I usually get take out for a reason. The service isn't really good, twice now I had to seat myself and wait 5 minutes before tea or anyone acknowledged that I am here.

I went this place Saturday around 2pm and I think I won't go this place anymore because of the server. Frowned face, bad service.

This place was small but cozy and definitely busy. I really appreciated they had a whole section for vegan sushi was all really yummy. I especially liked their avocado aburi and their lady mango roll.
Their opening hours are a little unusual so definitely check they’re open before heading over.

Okay recipe but very inconsistent kitchen.i used to go there few times a week ordering same menu, but it always comes with different food.sometimes too wet, too salty, too sweet, too random.
