After having some troubles, management did me a solid and went the extra mile to explain how my particular instrument was broken. I have no complaints! Good service that responded promptly to a customer.

Excellent service, the staff is very knowledgable and very enthusiastic to work with so many instruments. The renting rates are reasonable and the time period is very well adjusted to suit my needs. Moreover, the staff is super kind and will let you know if they are busy with someone else and will help you as soon as possible. I went in to buy my friend a merlin dulcimer for his birthday and they had it, unfortunately due to some other reasons I wasn't able to buy it, but the staff is really helpful and will definitely recommend this place

For someone like to learn here, using email from March and May 2/3 not been reply and until now still can’t have a lesson is a bit too much for me.

Few times it seems been booked but didn’t book. Just a bit confused.

Friendly staff at the drums department. E-drums are usually rented out fast. Dave was nice to call me back as soon as they got one drum set available and had it prepared nicely for pick up. Convenient and fast transaction when you are there. Store is huge. Would be the one-stop shop when you need something.

Wonderful experience upsizing my son’s violin at long and McQuade! Lisa took my 7 years old customer serious and let him tried out different violins and gave great advices to his choice. It’s a pleasure experience!

I have been going here a lot lately and my experience has been mostly good. Most of the staff at this location is nice and helpful, but my experience with one certain manager has made things bad. I had been waiting on an order that was said to be in two days earlier and went to check in the store. The person at the desk was the manager who was rude or was maybe racist and had no interest to serve. I was also planning on buying over 3,000 dollars worth of equipment which I Cancelled on the spot as well. He was staring at me everywhere i went in the store with no reason.

This is another great L&M with an awesome selection of high end guitars and synths (among many other instruments).

First time ever to visit this location (and Long & McQuade in general) and it was a wonderful experience! Thank you very much to Adriano (spelling?) for assisting us in our purchase of our piano keyboard and even recommending other products/accessories to go with it! He also helped us bring down all the stuff and load it in our Uber, all with a professional and positive attitude. Really appreciate it! Store also has lots of amazing products and helpful staff! Thank you, everyone! Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Update: Thank you to Cole for helping me put an order in for a piano bench! The shipping/delivery fees on the website are based on shipping from their HQ in Ontario, so better to call the store for the right fees. Also my piano bench was delivered the next day-AMAZING! Best service ever.

The sales associate who helped me did an excellent job. Also, variety of models was impressive.

Great experience as a first time guitar buyer. The store was busy but I felt I was given enough time to browse without being pounced on. A guy came over after some time and said I look like I need help (which I did). He didn’t try to up sell at all but provided a couple options (to which I did go end up going for the better model of a Stratocaster). I’ll admit I was quite shy but this guy said to me not to feel embarrassed and ask anything. Such a human approach to customer service which is hard to come by in Vancouver. I believe the employee was called Berry, that’s what my receipt says anyway.

This is the paradise of musicians. Here you can find everything you want in sound and musical instruments. Their attention is very good, they have professional musicians, products and technicians within their staff. Highly recommended.

I wanted to do a rental of Shure SM58 mic & micstand with only 30 min before heading out to work ie.quick stop en route downtown as contract YVR Limo Chauffeur for hotel transfer of Delta Airlines pilots/crew. One staff person came out immediately to help me—so beautifully attentive & efficient (kudos—cannot remember his name!) I was in and out of store within 15 min. Thank you Long & McQuade (Vancouver) : you’ve been there for me dependably for decades—I’ve purchased lots of equipment, acoustic guitar strings, recording stuff. IMHO, you are the best go-to store in Vancouver for musical equipment /recording gear & event rentals.

Really bad services, the people working there barely know what they are doing. Would not recommend any repairs from this particular establishment.

Bought my bass and cable here. I revisited because the hum wouldn't go away. The mid aged man in bass section tested my bass and the cable and said all I gotta do is simply turn off the gain. The right answer should've been get a setup. I get it. You get tired of customer service and just take a quick look and done. But, I was massively disappointed. I stopped going to this location. Even if you see an aged man with uniform and sound like an expert don't believe everything. I recommend to do your own research.

Fun place, all types of instruments available, you can buy or rent from here. Or just try it out, so much fun just to explore it around.

Nice clean place well stocked and staff were friendly and helpful. Room of amazing guitars was a nice touch but the locks although understandable were disappointing.

I’ve been to this stores many times and each time the service at Long and Mcquade goes above and beyond. The strings department always welcomed me and was very attentive to my needs. I highly recommend renting instruments from them.

Everyone knows about Long & McQuade. It's the biggest place for music gear in Vancouver. They do have a good selection of used stuff but it's not always listed online. I like the place and the people. Always good to go and try/buy synths and guitar pedals.

I’ve had a very good experience in long&mcquade today. Diego Herrera at the pro audio section has been super helpful. He patiently answered all our questions about pro audio gears and provided lots of alternatives to our concerns.

Jacob Gray helped me out HUGE when I was looking for a pedal. Didn’t really know what I was looking for, and he was knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Big thanks to him and the rest of the staff!

Cashiers allow friends who pop in to cut the line in a store full of people. Very unprofessional, but otherwise items and selection is amazing.

They have lots of accessories and hardware for guitars which is very nice but, usually I’m not sure if it’s just my luck but when I try to get some instruments it’s always either have to backorder or ship it in from somewhere.

Leaving just a 4 star because a large store but do not really have the instruments ready to go for the customer (unless you’re ok with the on the floor model) without any discount.

I am one of the select few who decided to learn how to play my first instrument at a later age – 29, and decided to learn how to play the saxophone. I rented the saxophone, and began taking lessons after talking to the receptionist, as she mentioned that I could use one of their many available rooms to practice between my lessons and sympathized with my situation (I live in an apartment so it would be impossible to practice at home).

I did this for over 5 months with no problem – that is until they hired a new receptionist who wanted to charge me per 30 minutes of use. I had explained to him that I had used the room multiple times a week for the past months and said that he couldn’t because he double checked with management. So I asked to speak to the manager.

The manager, Heather, spoke with him for a good 15 minutes or so. Finally, I came back to her telling me they had no rooms available coming up (mind you I had been coming in during the afternoon 2-3 times a week most if not all were always empty) and that there was nothing she could do. I called her out on this but she wouldn’t budge, and I began to come to the conclusion that I had just wasted hundreds if not thousands of dollars to now have to quit learning the saxophone. Months of practicing and learning only to have to quit because they wanted to charge a hefty amount to use a room for 30 minutes. There were rooms available – she was just trying to find a way for me to not use the rooms without charging me. She later back tracked and had then changed her answer to “I never said all of the rooms were unavailable” but that they will rarely be available, and only for people who book the rooms and pay.

If you are thinking of taking lessons here – I would look elsewhere. Management does not care about individuals and their circumstances, and overall its left a really bad taste in my mouth. I even just invested in a new music book and reeds that are now useless. Paying hundreds of dollars a month was not enough for them – and had no problem with me deciding to quit my lessons and return my rented saxophone. I had some pleasant conversations with some of the employees in the store – but the manager didn’t seem to care, and I guess it goes without saying – learning how to play an instrument at this centre is for the wealthy.

I brought my Richie Kotzen Tele here to have the repair guy install a push-pull tone knob and it turned out perfect, surpassing all of my expectations. The modding effort took 2 days and a very reasonable cost of 75 bucks. Props to whoever upgraded my guitar.

The L&M megastore on Terminal is no longer "mega"! Place looked like it was ransacked, specially the drum department. Covid is really taking its toll on that place

I had my Fender Tele set up in the store, the staff are very nice and professional. They put a temporary case for the guitar when the job is done, and also let me know how much it is worth in the market, coz the neck is made of Bird's Eye Maple that I have no idea about.

I will definitely go to the strore again to pick up my next dream guitar!

I've been shopping here for over ten years. Always get excellent service when I've needed it. Today was another fine example of a great L&M experience and I left feeling like I'd gotten the coolest guitar in the store. Thanks to Royce and Chad!

Oh yeah, their in store financing, regular deals and sales promotions make it possible for musicians to obtain the gear they need. L&M have been more than incredibly fair in making sure I've walked out the door with the gear I need, while being very up front about pricing and rates.

I found the dream guitar I didn't even know I needed! Salesman was very helpful even though I showed up 30 min before closing on a Friday before a long weekend, and I still hit a grand slam with this purchase

As a DJ it's essential to have a go to store for all your needs. Not only to get gear but also to get Quality service. These guys are knowledgeable and when they don't have the answer they definitely find it. Quick response times, a wide variety of items and price matching that is bar none. If you're a musician and you're looking for anything music related, this should be your first and probably only stop. Keep up the great work guys!

Love this store. Cole (from the Brass and Woodwinds department) provided exceptional customer service as he went out of his way to help me decide which saxophone was right for me.

I ordered some Furman SS-6B-Pro power bars in 2 separate orders. On the first order, for a single power bar, the mail cost and the shipping time were good. On the second order, for 3 power bars, L&M absorbed a lot of the mail cost and shipping was immediate. This meant that the package arrived before the weekend, instead of after. Great service! As you might surmise, I like the power bars too.

This store has a big footprint and it's packed with good stuff. Great staff. Always willing to help with their expertise. Always willing to let you browse around. Vancouver has some excellent music stores, and L&M is one of the best. Check it out.

Just bought a keyboard. Kian, the piano specialist, has been awesome all along. He explained all the features and played for us to be able to hear the sound of the different keyboards. Because of covid, the piano i chose wasnt available and he fought for me to get one the earliest possible. Really awesome service. Plus the sheets selection is awesome, great library. And a lot of instruments all over the place, beautiful to look at.

Long and McQuade is the gold standard for music stores. The only large chain I’ve ever seen where each location feels like a small business. This location is enormous, and lacks a bit of the charm of other locations, but I’m glad it’s around.

Damien of Acoustic Guitar section is awesome - not only as a CSR but as a person. Never experienced this kind of attention and assistance from a retail store representative. L & M must be proud of this simple and humble guy for his cheerful and pressure free salesmanship. My wife and I felt at ease and comfortable for his demeanor and personality. Amazing music shop with tons of displayed stock and rentals. This shop offers it all; good deals, great customer service and vast rental options. They also have one of the best guitar techs in town for repairs and calibration.

Consistently hostile to people. Something needs to be sorted out with management cause every time I’m here I watch some employee embarrass or get angry with a customer. Is it so hard to be kind?

My daughter is a musician in Toronto and always raves about the great customer service she receives at Long and McQuade! Today I experienced it first hand at the Vancouver location. I had to send her electric piano and needed a box to ship it. Called them up, explained my situation and after Cole checked the shipping department, he came up with a perfect one. This is a very bad store with clerks so aloof and/or inept and uncaring that they refused to help me with a $300 hand held recorder that I bought there. A singing teacher whom I did a single lesson with at this store decided that she didn't like me and I was given false info that she was not at the store anymore and the money that I had spent in a get to know each other lessons was refused to be refunded.
This store is totally about money - about getting you to buy something and once you've done so you're on your own.

Very friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff for all your musical needs. The in ear monitors I was recommended by staff were very high quality for a decent price, and I only deal with Long & Mcquade from now on.

Very bad experiences here. Some of staff is OK, but most could be selling used cars, that type of honesty. Bought 3,500$ worth of beyond repair guitars (2). The manager charged a restocking fee second time. My fault for not noticing I guess. Poor eyesight, and a bit too trusting. Good luck, those who enter, too many greedy salesmen competing.

One of my favourite shops in Vancouver. I go here for the gigantic collection of books and sheet music they have - the biggest I have seen.

A very nice store, one of the larger Long and McQuades. There’s tons of stock in every department including a great selection of drums which was greatly appreciated. Pricing is same with their other stores but there are good deals now and then.

On Wednesday Aug. 7th I went to Long & McQuade on Terminal Ave.and I found the best help in entire Long & McQuade stores.
I have been to the North Shore store as I live on the North Shore but I did not receive proper help (they did their best but both guys were not from Piano department).
Kian was the guy in Piano and keyboard section who was absolutely professional, courteous, with sense of humor, real pro in playing Piano so I ended up buying Roland RP501R in white right on the spot from him.
It is a great feeling to buy a musical instrument from a musician not a typical sales rep.
I have been to Tom Lee and other independent Musical stores the experience I had this Wednesdays with Long & McQuade specifically with Kian was by far the best in town, I am in sales for last 14 years myself and I truly believe “sales is an emotional experience otherwise never happens”
He also helped me for the price as he understood that I want this model so bad but I am on tight budget so that made me to buy a nice matching Piano bench as well.
Super happy with my purchase because he helped me to get back on music again with a proper tool.

I'm always treated to a great experience at this Long and McQuade. Realistically all of them. Kind people working here, professional and understanding working staff. I can't talk enough about how great some of the staff are. Truly this is a good place.

Often, I hear people preaching against larger music stores with arguments like: "employees are not happy, they know nothing about instruments, they just want to sell". The case with Long and McQuade, is in fact, the opposite. Knowledgeable staff, passionate about musical instruments and happy to help you. Canadian musicians are lucky to have L&M. I can't say enough about them. For years they have been so good to their customers. I'll give one example. I was on tour and my hardware bag for my drum kit was lost. I went into an L&M in Calgary, and they pulled all these obscure little percussion pieces and hardware off the rack and let me rent them. Then they let me return it all later in Edmonton. And the price was super cheap. I was speechless. I love you guys. OK, I'm gonna go cry now.

I was looking to purchase an Traktor S2 MK controller for my husband as a birthday gift.everywhere I contacted seemed to be out of stock. Luckily Long & McQuade has one last one in stock! They were helpful and the shopping experience was smooth:)

Used them for sound equipment for our wedding. Very knowledgeable about what we needed for the area we would be in, and could pick up or return equipment to any branch, which made the rental a breeze! Not to mention affordable!

What they carry is great and they have many options but know/research what you need before going in.

I went there to get studio amplifier.know what I wanted, but incase if there is other option, I asked recommendation. I told specific specs and watt requirements (8ohm and 50~100watts maximum) of my passive speaker. T

guy recommending me a 200 watts amplifier from same brand ($200 more expensive) as if he did not have any options but this. He was like oh it will just have more power for your speaker you should get it.

He knows that they have much more suitable options in stock but instead I got a recommendation for more expensive yet not useful options. By the way if I make any mistake on taking a volume, 200 watts can blow up my speaker and yet I was getting recommended to get that lol.

Don't ask for recommendation, unless you know exactly what you are looking for and price range. They will try scam you by recommending more expensive option that you do not need.
