Went in today at customer service with two coupons for light bulbs the manufacturer sent me after I bought a bunch of them at Lowe's and a couple burned out within a few months. Head cashier insisted she can only do one coupon per transaction. So I tell her fine, just do two transactions. Apparently, she can't do that and cannot explain to me why. So I said: I'll buy one, go out the store and come back. Nope, that doesn't work either. Finally Manager is called: all good, two transactions. The cashier then proceeds to apply a 35$ coupon to a 13$ pack of bulbs instead of the 40$ replacement and charges the diff. Seriously!? I got these coupons from the manufacturer to replace the bulbs YOU sell that died way before they were supposed to. Anyways, I then ask her to cancel the transaction and once redone, she proceeds to leave the register, hardly speaking to me, and doesn't scan the other cheaper bulbs that were put aside!
Also, previously, we had tried to get our money back for a lamp after a few days. Manager said: no, can't cuz you opened it.
I'll be going to Home Depot instead.

Good products, good prices, horrible service. Never had anything but pleasant experiences with Home Depot staff. Lowe's is subpar on that front, right up to store management.

Good location at Nanaimo North Town Centre, where the Target used to be, on bus routes and with lots of parking. Visible from the old Island Highway, between Rutherford and Oliver, but most easily accessed from Uplands. Excellent washrooms, pleasant and professional staff. The wide range of products here include lumber, summer furniture, riding mowers, trees, flowers, and gardening supplies, bathroom fixtures, major appliances, and hardware - check out the catalog online.

You may see Rona trucks at the loading dock. There are signs around saying that this store will eventually be rebranded from Lowe's to Rona.

Manager is absolutely useless refused to even talk to me on the phone after the fridge i bought 12 days earlier quit working telling the customer service lady to tell me its not their problem even though the reason i was wanting to talk to him was because his salesman told me false information on their extended warranty (dont buy their warranty its useless) saying yes it will cover logic board and food spoilage right away when it in fact wont cover any of that unless a year has passed from the purchase date. So now i have an un returnable fridge because logic board isnt covered by manufactures warranty so this “new” fridge is sitting in my garage for a year until it is covered by their warranty for repair. Go to costco or the brick for appliances and avoid this place because as their manager has told me. “Its not their problem”. My only hope is the repairman agrees that it was installed incorrectly and thus will be covered.

Considers Salt Spring Island "remote" and won't ship here. Literally just trying to order a couple pairs of wire cutters, not something that needs special handling. According to customer service they can ship via major carriers and Canada Post, can't find any reason why they should have difficulty shipping here.

Lots of product reasonably priced however the store management have a unqualified staffing issue who seem to operate on the premiss they can't fire me. Listening to too many radio commercials.
At any rate I received a great deal of help from the lowest paid staff member. "Sepehr' although not knowing where everything might be found had the where-with-all to locate what I was looking for on his phone and walk right too it.
This was after two other employees threw their hands in the air
telling me the person who knew was on lunch.
Not very impressive Mr. Manager. You hired them so I would suggest supervising them.
Give the young fella who helped me a raise cause he is the reason I will continue to visit your outlet. /

Great experience at Lowe's Nanaimo today! This is truly the best place in Nanaimo to find all the tools necessary for wallpapering. Staff are knowledgable and kindly shared their advice and best tips for installing wallpaper.

Just avoid this place and go shop at one of the many other hardware stores on the island. Over priced and damaged goods for sale with no one to take responsibility. Point of sale machines are out dated as well and do not support tap to pay. Every transaction, if you can even find the item that their website says is in stock, is difficult for the staff to complete. The store is empty all the time for a reason, sad that yet another American company will be leaving a hole in our malls when they exit the Canadian market.

I been a Lowe's supporter since they opened years ago and has spent thousands for my homes and businesses.

I bought a microwave last week and it broke within the first 3 hours. I brought it back 6 days later and the store manager told me he couldn't take it in because he doesn't have the box to resell it. I told him it doesn't turn on, the cost of repair would have been more than the microwave worth and it was returned within the first week. I offer to take store credit since I shop at Lowe's frequently. He told me to contact the manufacture and dealt with it myself. I didn't wanna argue with him since the microwave was around $200 and didn't wanna make a big scene.

Anyhow, I though this was pour customer service for a big franchise store. It seem like the store manager care more about resell than offer good customer service. If you buy something that broke right away, you should be able to return it.

I gave Lowe's 2 stars because before this incident, they had good customer service but now, I will take my business to Home depot and Home Hardware.

Had a really uncomfortable experience in this store last night. I had to go to the immunization clinic at North Town so my wife decided to kill time in Lowe's while waiting for me. We needed to grab something from there and I was going to meet her in the store afterwards to pick it out and pay. We were on the phone with one another after I finished my appt.so I could find her. We met in the Christmas tree section. I had just arrived and we were in the middle of a conversation when Kelly abruptly interrupted us to ask if we needed any help. I've worked in retail for a decade and would never interrupt a couple like that or come in that aggressively using the tone she used. It made us feel like we shouldn't be there and I was so uncomfortable we left without making a purchase. It bothered me enough that I went back to question the employee on why she'd singled us out. There was another couple right across from us at the time looking at ornaments and she didn't even notice them. She was very condescending and said she was sorry "her customer service made us uncomfortable". She didn't seem too concerned about customer service when she was leaning up against a display to chat with a coworker. Kelly could learn to be a little less aggressive with her "customer service". My wife is a POC and wondered if we were treated differently because of that or our age. Either way, I can't say we'll be back any time soon.

Bought an Electrolux washer in store at Lowe’s Nanaimo last October 26,2021. Since, there was no inventory available the salesperson told me that the earliest delivery would be on the 12th of Nov. Few days later I received a call from their customer service telling me that they have a stock and ready to be deliver on the 2nd of Nov.

I received my washer on the 2nd of Nov. The washer was delivered to me without a box. There were watermarks inside and outside of the washer (rusting inside). The detergent holder was dirty. I made a complain about it and said they will replace it. According to their customer service the washer that they’ve deliver to me was tested by the Canadian appliances entity body, but according to their store manager it was the Electrolux manufacturer who tested it. I’m suspecting that there’s something wrong with it because there are 2 different story. Either the washer was returned to them, was used and then they sold it again or it was a rework.

Paying for the original price, but receiving a used item from this store. Now I’m stuck with it because they don’t want to-pick it up from my place. I have to bring it back to their store to have a refund.

Customer service manager was unprofessional managing the refund process.

Never again from this store.

Okay, I needed a fan. The other one I was using broke and you would think its easy to find one. Not at this time of year!

Unfortunately Lowe's didnt have the one style I needed. I just wanted to say the staff was great! We checked around the store, inventory search, etc. No success, but they were great.

Bought a glass shower door. When the box arrived at checkout, it was badly damaged. I asked the woman who brought it out if there was any possibility of getting another door as I knew there were 3 in stock. She told me the other boxes were in worse shape. Had a look through the damaged box and it looked like the door was okay. Just to be proactive in case I need to return the door, I asked for a note to accompany the receipt that the box was already damaged. It was like pulling teeth. Eventually, after a call to the Manager on Duty, it was done.
The whole process was quite onerous. The customer service was atrocious, starting with trying to find someone to help. I felt like I was keeping the employees from doing something more important. I remained calm and polite but I can tell you, they sure did not make it easy. The only person I dealt with in the store who was any help at all (and cheerful about it) was the young man who helped me load the door into my truck.

With the purchase of a new home I needed to buy two sets of appliances. After spending 12,500 on appliances, another 2500 on light fixtures, another 1500 on a new BBQ and plants, lawn mower etc I was excited about the new home. Then the problems started.

First - the special order fridge that takes 5 months to get delivered was dropped. Fortunately they were able to source another one but for a while it looked like we wouldn't get the one we wanted.

Second - on Delivery one of the microwaves was destroyed when taken out of the box. Clearly dropped on its side by the delivery people. The manager at the time of course did an exchange for the same model - just my time wasted going to pick it up.

Third - We booked installations through Lowes for a Gas Range and 2 Dishwashers. The gas range installer came and tried to charge me an extra 500 ON TOP of what Lowes billed me. Luckily, I found out my builder's plumber and gas will do the install for less then what Lowes charged me so I canceled all the installs.

Fourth - One of the stoves we bought turns out it has a defective panel. The area on the touch screen where the off button lives doesn't work. After my wife accidentally turned on the self cleaning function with stuff in the oven we could not turn it off. By the time I got through to Samsung support and got the advice to kill the breakers the CO detectors were going nuts in the house. Forward a week for the repair guy to come - the panel will need to be replaced - repair time 6-8 WEEKS min. So, the stove I bought and used for 2 months will now not have a functioning oven for as long as we owned it. Lowes of course, has so far refused to assist with this.

My last experience was a marked improvement over my first visit to this store. As a design professional I often accompany clients to retail establishments to finalize purchases for projects I have been contracted to design for. On my first visit with my client, we hadent been in the store for more than five minutes when it became apparent that we had been targeted as potential shoplifters by a staff member (with an unconvincing Billy Connelly look). He then proceeded to deputise just about every male staff member on the floor to follow us for the duration of our visit. They were very obvious, unprofessional and treated the whole thing like some sort of team building exercise. Absolutely unacceptable. We spent 150$ that visit and I shared my disgust with the store manager on my way out of the store. He was apologetic. However the additional 70 grand spent on that kitchen remodel was spent at their competitors. A heads up to head office - profiling customers on their appearance, race or purchases is bad for business. You might want to let staff know. My last and only subsequent visit was much more positive experience. My keyed door handle had been switched out with a passage handle, saving some jerk the 40$ difference. When I returned to the store to exchange it for the proper handle my request was dealt with courteously and promptly. That's the sort of service that keeps customers coming back. I will reconsider my boycott.

Has all you need but a way over priced. Edit: New experience with Lowes. Bought an $800 Cub Cadet lawnmower at Lowes on Thurs, put it together Fri and ran it with no problems for about an hour, went to finish cutting the grass on Sat and no start. Tried everything possible and finally called Lowes. Nothing but a run around from wanna be manager Willie and they just passed me on to the manufacturer. Said no return because I put gas in it. Well if I didn't put gas in it how would I know it's not going to start. I would expect to get more than 1 day of use and better product support from Lowes. Never had a problem with the competitor. That does it for Lowes and my wallet and everyone I can tell my story to.

It was recommended to search here for my appliance. The employee needed to get back to me on a price and he called when he said he would. Arranging delivery was great; included taking old appliance away, dropping off new appliance and installation. Great work & friendly staff!

However (-2 stars), after purchasing multiple attachment options (wanted to be over prepared) the delivery guy said he could NOT install it because i didn't have the right piece (s) and left. I had someone else come in said i was well prepared and went ahead, installed/set it up.

Their website is inaccurate and Lowe's errors have cost me time and effort to correct. They thank you for pointing out their errors and offer no solutions to solve your problem. Most products are available at other online and retail stores. Shop elsewhere to avoid disappointment.

Staff were amazing so refreshing to see.it was 15 min to close the order was over my trucks max weight so they hand bombd 1200 pounds of flooring into my truck not once did I hear about them closing or wanting to get home not a single complaint or grumble. MUCHLY appreciated and even help make a sign for my window indicating slow moving vehicle for the port alberni hump. Two huge thumbs up anyone in the industry should look to these guys for how you should not only act but also help customers so refreshing to deal with compaird to most places these days. I wish C-tire staff was even half as good as these guys and gals recommend this place 110% Thank you for making a shity long day not so shity,

BEST HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE IN THE AREA! Anytime we have been in this store we are always met with a kind personable staff member who checks if we are doing ok. We purchased refrigerator with warranty. Refrigerator broke on Dec and we expected a replacement. Instead they send Lowes gift cards. 7 weeks later and still no gift cards valued at over $3,000 and still no refrigerator. We were told today we will not receive the gift cards until sometime in March. Worst warranty and customer service ever. Would never recommend this store.

Whether incompetence or a bare faced lie, the appliance salesman told us there were two units sitting in a warehouse in Calgary that were designated for Nanaimo. We bought one of them on the 5th of Dec and they were due to arrive on the 18th and be delivered to us after Christmas. We went through Christmas with no fridge and phoned the following Monday to see when to expect delivery. The delivery person said Jan 8th so I called the appliance line to enquire and was told they would look into it and call back. No return call. I went to the store and talked to the original salesman who had little time for me but put me on to his manager. The manager was happy to explain the realities of a back order, to which I said I hadn't bought a spot on the assembly line, I bought a unit destined for Nanaimo. One of the reasons we chose the one we did was the salesman "guaranteed" one of the units in Calgary, already across the boarder, was ours. Oh, the manager also told me, as far as he could see the delivery would be the 22 Jan or later (not the 8th).

It's one thing to experience delays with appliances (during Covid), but to be flat out told you are buying an actual unit only to learn you are simply on a back order list is.incompetence or a bare faced lie.

Picked up a charcoal BBQ for cheap. The only place in town that had one under 300 dollars. Staff was very friendly and helpful. First time purchasing somewhere other than a snow shovel. Will definitely be back

I actually like Lowes as a business quite a bit, and often come here to get supplies for home renovations, but I thought it was important to write this feedback here.

I came to pick something up via curbside pick-up today, and called the store, told them my name and order number for curbside pick up. The person on the phone requested that Brett Mason be present when the order was picked up, after I had told her my name was Brett Mason. I let the person know again that I was Brett Mason, at which point the person sounded very short and said “well, you will need to show ID”.

Showing ID is standard, but I am fairly certain that I only needed to repeat my name and that I am who I am multiple times because I am transgender and my voice didn’t match the stereotype of who they thought I should be.

I am writing this because I hope the staff will have more conversations about not assuming a person’s gender based on their voice or name.

We have been to Lowe's several times and the staff have been very knowledgeable and helpful. The store is always well stocked, well lit, and good pricing. Several other hardware stores never have verything that we needed but Lowe's always has what we need at great prices!

Went in for some flooring, turns out it was on clearance and I saved $2900. They were very helpful, loaded me up with my pallet load of flooring and advised me to buy as much as I could and I could return what I dont use. Great staff, better experience than Home Depot

Super hit or miss, if you need help you either get an absolute champion that is very knowledgeable and super helpful, or you get help from someone that doesn't have a clue what direction the cash registers are in

Product showed inventory in my selected store (of over 100). When I showed up at the store, the employee said they couldn't find it and that it was probably due to incorrect inventory.

If your missing 100 of 1 specific item your store needs some serious work.

Uneventful. Not that you expect a hardware store to be. Prices are average to high with a few deals sprinkled in now and again. Selection of tools is sub-par to average. Staff are humble and non & instrusive but also having an obvious air of dissatisfaction but this may due to Covid. Previous help over multiple visits from staff was lead or followed with a heavy sigh. More than once was given poor or inaccurate directions to items in the store. This was mostly due to "not my department" attitudes. All in all, it's a hardware store. I buy the stuff I need and don't stick around very long.

I find this store a bit confusing. The layout doesn't always make sense. Adding to the confusion is the lack of knowledge of some of the customer service staff. When asking for directions to find specific items the staff either dont understand what you want or don't know if the store carries the item. Prices are a bit more expensive. It is nice to have a hardware store in the neighbourhood but some more orientation any on going training could help the staff.

I placed an order in May. It was to be delivered June 03. I had not received it by June 20th, so I sent several requests to Lowes for order status via email with no response. In Mid July I still did not receive my order. I spent several hours trying to determine what happen to my order and finally I got my Money back. Apparently once Canada Post picks it up, Lowes washes there hands of it. It is upto the consumer to follow up.
Canada post never did update their tracking page, so hopefully they are enjoying the pickaxe. Gary

I bought a showerhead during COVID. After I installed it, I was not happy with the product. I went to return it without the receipt, or the original packaging, and there was no problem whatsoever. I was attended to by the store manager Deryck, who is great in my opinion.

I did try and do the same thing the day before when Deryck was not in. The clerks in charge kicked me out of the store. I dont think they were trained well enough in their store policy and like one of the previous reviewers mentioned, they were hysterical over COVID.

Deryck is the store manager and is a fair person to deal with. I went from the day before vowing never to return to that store ever again, to being a loyal customer. Deryck is the best!

Needed a deepfreezer and I don't shop on line.lowes found a way for me to make this purchase over the phone. Their service was beyond what I expected. The staff were so helpful when we picked the item up. Thankyou for the great service.

Had to return a few items yesterday. The new policy at Lowes is to not accept any returns due to the virus. First of all who is to say that twenty people before me had not handled merchandise in the store? So me wanting to return an item is infected any more that what they are selling in the store? The reason I shop there is the fact that I can return items when I need to. I start a project and buy a little more than I need and return them once I'm finished. Now they say I can't return anything? I don't care if you have to use six foot tweezers to make the return.this is a required service. This is a half baked, over the top reaction. No problem I'll just mosey over to Home Depot.ridiculous.
