I remember well the reluctance my Dad had in going to a 'nursing home' as he called it. I told him retirement homes are not all equal and he finally agreed to visit Magnolia.
We were given a tour of the residence's common rooms where they offered various activities and a look at the available suites followed by a lunch in the dining room and an explanation of the extras that came with the rental. What a welcome surprise for me when he chose a suite that day!
Staff was kind and caring. He always enjoyed his meals. Activities were creative and there was something for everyone, be it carpet bowling, bingo, yoga or happy hour. Happy hour was maybe his favourite. Together we enjoyed various entertainers, often twice a week.
The residence is a few steps from a drug store, and about 3 blocks to downtown Langley allowing for some independence even though he wasn't driving anymore.
