My dog, Luna, gets nervous at new places, so finding a friendly, familiar vet clinic right in our neighborhood has been a lifesaver. The staff at Maillardville remembers Luna and always greets her with a wag and a treat. The vets are down-to-earth and explain things in plain English, making even the trickiest procedures less intimidating. It's like taking Luna to visit friends who happen to know a lot about dog health.

Too bad I can't put a zero star. They're not honest in their business and they mislead you into paying more and more exams for your pet. I booked a booster vaccine and they made me pay for an exam 2 days after a first exam that I had come specifically for. They advertise low prices, but hide other costs and add-ons that finally add -up to much higher prices than other respectful animal hospitals. Stay away and get your pet to another more honest place.

Absolutely amazing and great staff! My appreciation goes out to especially Kristina who was so helpful concerning my sick cat. She made me feel immediately at ease and gave me so much more insight concerning his condition. Her personality and energy is and was so comforting and warm I will most definitely be coming back again because of her! Thank you again for all the help!

I recently had my cat spayed at Maillardville Animal Hospital, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The process was smooth, and the staff displayed excellent professionalism and care. Dr. Ranjan and the team provided clear pre-op instructions and post-op guidance, ensuring my catty's comfort throughout. Kudos to them.

I can't say enough good things about the kind, compassionate, competent and professional service that young vet and his lovely assistant provided to us in our home with our elderly dog. They helped us through a very difficult time with grace and tact. I would highly recommend the Maillardville Animal Hospital for regular home visits and merciful end of life services, as well as regular veterinary needs. In future, if (or when) we get another dog, we would love to have them as our vets.

Absolutely love this clinic and the staff!

Everyone is so friendly and nice, this hospital has a really good atmosphere. I'm always so scared taking my cat into vets but never worry here and when my cat had to have a complicated surgrey they were extremely helpful and diligent in making sure she's okay, the doctors are also willing to talk to you and answer your questions they don't seem rushed to get you in and out. I really cannot reccomend and thank this place enough they are all so amazing here:)

Very caring staff. Every time (out of 2) that my cat had an emergency, they were able to take her right away. I am willing to trust them with my heart, when that heart goes and eats something she shouldn't.

They told me what it would cost right up front and were quite accurate. I did not feel overcharged. Good job Maillardville.

I brought my dog (American Bully) into this vet and they right away wanted to put a mussel on her but wouldnt allow them to. She is friendly just hyper and they refused to care for her and won’t allow her back. Avoid this place at all costs as they do discriminate! Disgusting! 0 stars!

My dog had lump growing by her nipple and took in for check up. They said they need blood test and x-rays and a little sample of the lump to determine if it's a tumor or something else. Few days goes by they gave me a call and said I need to bring my dog in to do another blood test, I asked why would I need another blood test when you just took it few days ago? The Doctor's answer was because it's a small dog the first blood test wasn't enough.so basically they want you to pay twice for the same test because they didn't take enough blood the first time. Then I ask him what did the sample came back as? He said we are unsure at this point because more test are needed.it could be a cyst or a mammary tumor.i mean that's why i brought my dog there right? Anyways, be aware people.

This will be my regular vet now. I have had my adult cat and my kitten in this week and was very happy with both visits. No scare tactics or unnecessary testing/vaccines suggested. All the staff have been friendly and helpful. The vet took his time and explained things to me, i didnt feel like i was being rushed in and out at all. Highly suggest

Absolute scam artist, will pressure you into paying for unnecessary things then bill you with unexpected charges without discussing them with you beforehand. This hack administers unnecessary sedation just to jack up the cost and refused to allow us in the room with our cat (which is not standard practice). Please go literally anywhere else.

I have been purchasing special dog food from this clinic for 2 years. Suddenly they told me that I was mistaken and they do not sell dog food unless my pet is registered there. They refused to admit any fault of their own, and tried to convince me that maybe I was mistaken and I was at the wrong Vet clinic.

Was kind enough to squeeze a 5 dog household in with respiratory illnesses.

All recovered and found out one had congestive heart failure!

Instead of telling me to add some fibre to my 13 year old dog's diet the vet at Maillardville Clinic told me to bring her in for a $2000 ultrasound while she's sick and vomitting. Instead of fixing the cause they were looking to drain my wallet.

Front desk ladies shouldn't get 1 star should be no star.my recent experiences have been horrible dealing with them. One girl referred to my dog as "it" as I was dropping her off to get blood test and xrays as she is 15 experiencing multiple health issues. My dog is part of my family. She has a collapsed trachea a d when I needed to get more cough medicine the receptionist REFUSED TO GIVE MORE MEDICATION UNLESS I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR EXAM. I agreed to take her for exam but don't have alot of money so can I book for future date but my dog really needs her meds. No she still refused. I ask to speak to doctor and she tells me he's busy and won't get back to me probably tomorrow. Needless to say that is the last time I will call this vet. Iam appalled by the lack of compassion.

Great vets and receptionists. They are always so kind and helpful. This vet also charges an affordable consultation fee and offer half price vaccines on Wednesdays.

Edit: Feb 2022- the consultation fee has gone by $10 since last month and there was no notification of this price change, verbally or through signage at the clinic. Furthermore they sold me deworming which I had already purchased last month so I was surprised why they didn’t know that - asked for a refund and the receptionist didn’t refund the full price. Also the Receptionists seemed to have changed. The vet this time didn’t examine my dog, we were there for vaccines only but was still charged the full consultation fee.

Updated review: I ended up taking my cat to a fantastic cat vet clinic a week later. My cat does indeed have a heart murmur but many cats have those so it's not as scary as it sounds. This means that the vet wasn't terrible, but just had exceptionally poor communication skills and inadequately explained to me what the heart murmur actually meant. I would still never return to this vet.

Terrible vet. They don't care about pets and only want to up-sell you. First, they just take your pet away. I've never had that happen before where they just take my pet out of my view without asking me. I went to the door and they took my cat in his carrier. I had assumed it was because they were offering to carrying it inside for me, but no. They took my cat and then told me I couldn't come inside. Then when they brought my cat back, they did not handle my cat with care. I came in because my cat had a limp. The vet vigorously rubbed and "man" handled his affected paw to demonstrate that the paw was ok. (When my cat came home, his paw was NOT ok and he still has a limp.) The vet should not have handled his paw so roughly. Then the vet tried to sell me on extras like teeth cleaning. When I didn't bite at the teeth cleaning, he mentioned that he heard a heart murmur but then withdrew that to say they needed to do an EEG on the cat before they sedated him in order to take an x-ray because there was a chance that there was an issue with the bones of my cat's paw. What happened to the paw being ok a moment ago? It seriously felt like when you go to Mr Lube because you got a coupon in the mail and they try to sell you on all their "extras". Do not take your pet here. Peeling paint, exposed electrical boxes, their open sign is "secured" using packing tape. The only bright side to this clinic is a free roaming cat.

I have been bringing my cats in this Vet and they have provided great customer service always. Must visit. They also offer discounts on Wednesday for vaccinations.

. I have purchased food from this location before and now with new owners I assume ther policy does not allow persons WITH pets to buy food unless your a client which is absolutely riderlious and discriminative. Animals need to eat and vets should not be allowed to have such a policy, this is the only vet I have encountered who has this policy. It clearly shows they are after the $$$_ first.
Its like a grocery store who does not allow you in if you haven't shopped at that location. Just riderlious.

Transparent and caring services with fair pricing. Having been to a few vets in the past, the team here does a great job at detailing their assessment, the treatment needed and costs. They will often even give you an invoice with a breakdown of everything before they even proceed with the treatment needed. I wouldn't even consider bringing my dog to any other place at this point.

While there is no issue whatsoever with the Dr's the front office has degenerated significantly. I felt like I was swarmed upon by 3 employees. I could not understand what they were saying and they were all speaking at once. I was unnerved & my pet was distressed by this unnecesary racket which further unnerved me. Unless a sense of calm is present on my next visit it will be my last.

This clinic is trying to charge as much money as possible! Very unhappy. Last visit, they charged my over thousand of dollars for different tests and could not say the reason of illness of my dog last time. Just advised to proceed with different other tests. Of course, to pay more money. I strongly do not recommend this clinic unless you want to pay lots of money for each visit. Each visit they were advising that we need to do different tests, there was a list each time and I ended up paying each time from $500 to $1000.00. Rip off.

Maillardville Animal Hospital staff are super-friendly and really seem to be in the business for the love of animals. We've been serviced by the vets and their crew the last year and a half for our two cockapoos. I can get appointments quickly. They run on schedule and surprised us once with a follow up call after a standard surgical procedure. They don't upcharge, which we really appreciate.

They are always ready and willing to take care of your pet. I've called right at close with an emergency on two occasions and they've stayed to help. Vet and assistants really care about our pets. This kind of care isn't found at the big chain clinics.

Been here over the years a few times. Seems to be a new receptionist who seems to have little experience with dogs, and created a stressful experience for my puppy.

She kept trying to yank my 14 pound puppy on the leash to follow her. I told her if she used a treat, my puppy would follow. She said "no I'll just pick her up" and proceeded to yank her leash and aggressively pick her up, while puppy peed on the floor.

Same story again when we tried to weigh her on the scale. I grabbed a treat, popped it on the scale, and puppy happily hopped up on the scale to be weighed.

A stressful event for my 16 week old puppy. I won't be bringing my puppy back - I need a patient vet staff who can create a positive experience for my puppy so she doesn't learn to fear the vet.

I've no complaints about anything else in the office - otherwise they've been a great vet. I would definitely be comfortable bringing my older calmer dog here again.
