We left Main Street Animal Hospital after repeated price gouging and hostile treatment from Dr. Toor.
Our labradoodle was treated for kennel cough in the summer and the bill exceeded $1,000, due to a number of tests that we were assured were necessary by Dr. Toor.
This fall, our dog needed to have a benign tumour removed. We asked for a quote in advance of surgery, however we were not provided one until the day before and it was for $4,000. The quote included numerous tests, including repeating x rays and blood work that were done a few months earlier in the summer.
We asked for a second opinion and had to cancel the surgery to obtain one. In response, Dr. Toor's assistant called to threaten that he would transfer our file to the clinic giving a second opinion if we went ahead with it, effectively dropping us as clients. All the while, Dr. Toor had been telling us that the surgery was urgently required, saying that the benign tumour may spread and become cancerous very quickly.
We got the second opinion and are thankful that we did, the other clinic (Lonsdale Place Veterinary Clinic) quoted us $2,300. The vet we spoke to said that most of the tests Main Street said were necessary were not required, either because we had recently completed them or because they would be redundant.
Later, Dr. Toor's assistant called back and provided a significantly reduced quote for the surgery, but said we would have to pay for an intake consultation if we decided to "return" the clinic for the surgery.
We decided to change clinics and are now very happily at Londsdale Place Veterinary Clinic. Our dog's surgery went well and the price we were quoted is what we paid.
I do not recommend Main Street Animal Hospital. They were our vet for only just over a year and we have never spent more on veterinary bills, probably because they push testing they complete on site using their own equipment

Dr Toor and the staff go above and beyond to care for my pets. My 11 year old cat was diagnosed with cancer after Dr Toor removed a mass. When the biopsy report came, Dr Toor spent the day speaking to other Veterinary doctors in the area until he found one that could do a CT scan and further surgery. Within a week they had set up a consultation for us and a week later she had another surgery. Thanks to Dr Toor and his team’s
Action my cat is cancer free and living a happy life!

I am so thankful for all the support from the staff at the Main Street Animal Hospital in North Vancouver! My cat Jasper is 17yrs old. He has suffered with chronic bladder problems for years. Dr. Toor's veterinary expertise has helped Jasper live a healthy and happy life. I would highly recommend this veterinary hospital for anyone looking for reasonable veterinary prices. A big thank you goes to Dr. Toor, Dr. Amir, Jessie, Mikaela, Alyeisha and Nicole for their kind and caring hearts.

We are very happy with the clinic. We have two cats and we have used their services for years. One time the younger one was sick. The clinic called us few times to check in and went above and beyond. The love and care for the fur babies is very clear and we appreciate that.

Dr. Toor is a blessing and has treated many dogs in my care as well as my own dogs with complex health issues. He is fairly priced and provides all of the options clearly. He is supportive and gentle-natured.

Switched my vet because my previous vet felt like a sales person and only told me what I should spend. I've been going to Main Street ever since, which is now TEN YEARS! They've taken care of my little one from neutering, ear infections, vaccinations, appendicitis. Would highly recommend Main Street!

Dr. Toor and his team are amazing. They have taken care of our beautiful kitty for many years, and offered wise advice as we navigated several health concerns. Dr. Toor always takes the time to explain all of our options, carefully weighing the pros and cons of each, with a focus on our cat’s long-term health and well-being. He is strategic and purposeful when ordering tests and suggesting new food or medication, and he follows up with genuine concern. He takes a very holistic approach to care, and wants our sweet cat to feel safe, happy, and comfortable at the clinic and at home. Whenever we call or come in, the team greets us like family, and they go above and beyond to help us with any follow up questions and concerns. My sister’s pup is now seeing Dr. Toor, and I will continue recommending Main Street Animal Hospital to anyone who wants up-to-date, well-informed, highly proactive, and compassionate care for their animal. Our cat’s life has been prolonged, and he has overcome several health challenges because of the work of Dr. Toor and his team. For this, we are so grateful!

I had exceptional care here last month when I had to bring my very sick cat in. All the staff were kind and helpful and went out of their way to make my cat comfortable.

Heidi hadn't eaten for several days and was ery lethargic. Dr Toor found the cause and after treatment she's back to normal.

We've been here twice for emergencies. Each time our doggo has wagged his tail and sauntered right up to the tech. Super thorough and caring

Our puppy was having a bad allergy reaction and we were referred to the Main St Vetrenarian clinic by our old clinic which was unable to see her for a few days
We called and they were more than accommodating to schedule an appointment for that same afternoon
Met with the vet and he was more than helpful
He did not just say that our dog needed a bunch of expensive tests. He said that they are not always reliable but he did offer a solution and asked if we would like to try it
He gave some medications for a couple weeks an injection which he said that if it works we would see results within a couple of hours
He changed her to an allergenic diet as well
After being home for a couple of hours we noticed that she had settled down and was no longer chewing on herself
It is now been almost 3 weeks and our pup is still fine and her hair is growing back
Highly recommend seeing Dr Amir as he fully explained everything in a way that we could understand

Doctor Toor and his team are the best: compassionate, friendly and generous. Dr Toor saved my 14 year old Bella. He did not give up, found the issue and fixed it. He explains and gives you options without pushing you. I highly recommend Main Street Animal Hospital. Chantal Rivest

I am so thankful for all the support and love from the staff at the Main Street Animal Hospital in North Vancouver! They have been outstanding in taking care of my sick cat who developed a re-occurring partially blocked urethra 4 weeks ago and who is still suffering with urinary crystals and bladder pain. Dr. Toor and his staff (Dr. Amir, Emma, Michaela, Aleisha and Roberta) have been such a blessing to me and my little boy Jasper and I will be forever grateful for their kindness and help. Dr. Toor and his staff decided to admit Jasper to the Main Street Animal Hospital instead of transferring him to the Vancouver Animal ER. They took turns looking after him 24hrs/ day when they were not scheduled to work on the long weekend. Their dedication and sacrifice to give up their weekend to look after my little boy will never be forgotten. When Jasper originally developed his partially blocked urethra and urinary crystals 4 years ago, the Vancouver Animal ER highly recommended for me to take my cat to see Dr. Toor because they said he was an excellent veterinarian and that he knew how to look after a cat with chronic urinary issues. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and caring towards all the animals that they see and their overall prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Dr. Toor and his staff to anyone looking for a great animal hospital! Sending God's many blessings to all the staff at the Main Street Animal Hospital and Jasper and I THANKYOU for all your love and support!

Terrible service I prefer not to give any star at all. I was there personally one week ago and ordered two bags of Thyroid Cat dry food for cats. The staff asked me to write down many documents including my pet's family doctor's information and waiver any consequence of the food. They promised to call me later and one week later still no response. Today I called Main Street Animal Hospital and they neither found my documents nor order cat food.

THis is probably the worst ever experience that I have had with any veterinarian.

After my 18 year old dog collapsed I saw that the Main St animal hospital was the first to open so I chose them as the best place to get help, particularly as it was labeled as a hospital.

When I got there i went inside to talk to reception before bringing my dog in (my partner was comforting our dog). The reception staff were very courteous and professional but they had to apologise as the Vet was running late. As i was walking back to my car the vet drove up and parked near to my car. I approached him to say that my dog had collapsed and that I wanted him to look at him. His answer was that I should go to my normal vet. After asking him again to look at my dog he told me to go into reception and they would sort me out (as he walked away).

I went back to reception and noticed that one of the receptionists was talking to the vet on the phone. He told her not to let me check in and that I should wait until 10am to see my dogs normal vet. When i said this was not acceptable the receptionist then gave me the phone number of a 24hr animal hospital on broadway in Vancouver, 30+ minutes away. I ended up going to Mountainside animal hospital where the vet was amazing and not once did anyone do anything but support us through this difficult time.

Unfortunately my dog did not make it, after consulting with a real vet, who did what he could, he passed away on Sunday night

So i have some questions to this organization
1) Why would a vet upon seeing a pet owner who is clearly upset and, while able to hear the dog crying turn and walk into his office (so he could call the receptionist to tell her he would not treat the dog) ?

2) Why would the vet make his receptionist do his dirty work for him and tell me that they will not treat my dog? Leaving them to deal with an upset owner while he hides in his office.

3) How can this organization call itself a hospital when it has no interest in treating sick animals (unless they are already a customer)

Update in response to your post:
There was no misinterpretation and I have no idea how you formulated this response
1) my vet was not open at that time I would have to wait 30-45 minutes for him to open
2) I was trying to fill in the form when your vet told the assistant not to fill it in as he would not see the dog
3) Yes my vet did have blood work - so what - the dog was in pain in the car you could have started to look at him and placed a call as soon as the other vet opened
4) If i said I was going to my vet as you indicated why did your assistant give me the brochure fro the 24 hr hospital on broadway. That would make no sens.
5) All you are doing with this response is destroying what credibility you have

I brought my cat in that had injested a chemical that had burned her mouth, I explained the situation and the fact that I was ill, single parent on disability and was limited on funds, the staff was very sweet but the vet was awful he couldn't even look at her without help, he came back with a long list of things that could be wrong and tests they wanted to do it was over $700 if she only needed to stay one night but $1000 if it was 2.days
I asked if they could help in any way or could I pay a bit in payments.he said no and they gave me back my sick cat and sent me on my way

My two dogs Buddy and Tiger are patients in this hospital. Dr Toor is the best one! He took care of Buddy ear infection very well plus Tiger is my old dog had ear problems for years (I lived in Vancouver and had other vets)
After going to dr Toor my dog is finally free from ear pain and infections. Dr Toor did amazing job slowly cleaning ears first, washing them many many times, taking all hair out (without any anesthesia, just with powder that loosened the hair), then putting medicine inside treated ears! After few visits like that plus meds my dog is pain and old infections free. He can hear again and ears are dry and fresh.
Everyone I know had good experience with dr Toor. Thank you!
Nataly

Very fair prices and exceptional advice and customer service. I am very happy with Main Street Vet being My Highly Allergenic German Shepherds new Vet.

I've only been here once, but the experience was so distressing I had to leave and find another vet. The staff was wonderful but I can only describe the vet as rude, dismissive and condescending.
