Mandarin Hong Kong Cafe 文華餐廳

The restaurant is plain and simple. Food tastes good but short of healthy choices such as vegetables dishes.

The taste is quite good and the portion is suitable, but the waiter is not nice enough, speaks sharply, and has no service.

It is a more upscale Hong Kong-style tea restaurant. Four people ordered four plates of rice and pasta. Some were good and some were average. It depends on personal taste. The seats were quite comfortable, and each of us ordered a drink, which cost an average of more than 30 Canadian dollars per person, which is not cheap.

The lunch combo you get soup, main dish, and a drink. Food taste good but nothing spectacular. The lunch combo is a bit expensive as well (over $20). Staff members are very quick and efficient.

Ox tongue dish was hard.
I was charged $8 more; I was ripped off, lied upon.
Asian waitress with eye glasses, pony-tail, face mask gave me bad service with bad tone of voice, unhappy face.

The quality of the ingredients they use are far more better than any other HK style cafe in BC. A few items of food are definitely a ‘must try’: 1 Grill steak set lunch. 2. Daily creamy soup 3. Pasta with clams & ham in fresh tomato sauce. Very reasonable price!
Other than the food quality was excellent, I would like to mention the service was excellent. Waitresses were all very friendly. Will definitely go back!

Baked pork chop dish had no cheese in it and looked mainly like tomato sauce. Too pricey for HK style cafe food (19.50 a dish).

Hard not to like this HK cafe. It's a sister restaurant with Amigo in Richmond. The quality is excellent for a HK cafe. I like the fact that the seating are spacious and most importantly, the place is very clean. Highly recommend.

Hong Kong Style in a very good location. Very Clean. Friendly service. The food is not bad BUT when you taste it, there is something missing.lacks the "punch" you expected. So by the end, I can only give it a 3 stars. Won't go wrong and no surprice.

Longing for their fabulous deep fried chicken leg.so was there for take out. Got home open up and OMFG! Totally got ripped off. How much are potato fries? There are ONLY 20 (twenty) stick of fries! This cost something like 14 bucks!

I understand Business is tough. Take it to the government, not to your customers!

It may be a favorite place for customers came from Hong Kong, specially the older age group. It resembled neighborhood restaurants in Hong Kong and likely the reason that attracts customers. Service is quite good and prices are a bit higher than the similar restaurants. If you want better Hong Kong style foods, there are other choices.

Great food, generous portions. A bit on the expensive side but what can we expect these days? If you don't mind the typical loud and rough HK style service, this place is for you!

Absolutely terrible, server very rude and advised us it was 4$ to add a lemon slice to our iced water. Just unbelievable. With so many options in the area I won’t be back.

I had Singapore noodles. As good as I expected. I like the clean looks of the interior. Service can be better but I don't expect much.

Oh man where do I even begin?

I went here with my toddlers they are very well behaved and have excellent manners. We ordered food but even before then they were annoyed that my children were with me. When they came to take our order the waitress snatched the menu out of my child's hand and yelled at them because they were being " too rough".

I ordered soup and an avocado sandwich. I wanted to order just french fries for my children but they would not let me.

The food was bland and very boring. Like hospital food but worse.

They charged too much for what they give you and when I went to go pay I was informed that I needed to either pay with cash or debit because they had a $35 minimum for you to use a credit card.

I don't have cash on me and I use my credit card for most of things so I told them sorry this is what I have and the waitress happily rung me up on their credit card machine which means there really is no reason to have a minimum of $35 for their credit card machine.

It's a pity because I generally like Hong Kong cafe food but this is really just a disappointing place to eat at.

Your avg HK Style cafe with better quality of food. Menu is a bit dated but has a good variety. The HK Style Milk Tea is better than most places. Worth a visit if you r in the mood for some HK Style western food.

The whole vibe is quite Hong Kong like, food menu and everything is quite authentic. Not the best but does give me the home feel when you're really craving for some comfort food.
I got the baked pork chop rice, the pork tasted a little funny, and they do deep fry the pork before they bake it. Not my favourite style, but one of the best I've tried in Vancouver so far.

If you are a fan of Hong Kong local cafe food, this is a spot that worth trying. The lunch sets are quite big in portion but the afternoon tea sets are of great values.

Not too bad for a Hong Kong style "Tea Dining Hall". Typical Hong Kong style fast food are served in authentic style. The Hong Kong style Tea and Coffee Mix is fairly good!

Excellent service with elegant menu. It could be extended larger to accommodate more customer. Price is reasonable for middle class people.

It was farewell lunch for a colleague, the food was absolutely fantastic, and the service was excellent, but some of the food, I would say, is more "fusion Chinese" than authentic Chinese. Uncomfortable seats and tables set up for 12 of us but got a charming ambiance. I will come again if I happen to be in the same area.

A little pricy, but the portions are big. Chef's special might be best, you get soup and dessert. A little disappointing the other menu items don't come with soup, but overall good.

Very good place at vancouver, traditional HK style milktea, and we love their baked pork chop rice. I think this is their signature dishes. Also they have the lobster baked noodle are another dished that super love.

Having dine out such a long time, especially at Vancouver. This restaurant was such a hidden gem for me. We were order the lobster soup with puff pastry, beef stroganoff with rice, lobster in cream sauce (add noodle at bottom) and seafood paella. Very delicious on all of it. I believe i will come to visit again. Place was clean, and all server wear mask and do a full sanitize before and after. Such a good job.

Food is on par with most hk cafe. But this location I ate twice. I am Mandarin speaker from Taiwan. The servers seems to not smile at you if you spoke Mandarin, but other customers who spoke Catonese. They seem to be very friendly and bring them tea very soon. I had twice to ask for it even when my food arrives. Sorry just my take on it. But nice neighbourhood and easy parking if you want HK cafe style food crave.

Very raw chicken meat, service medicore as always, not going back. When I told the owner about the raw chicken.she paused for 3 seconds and later said: . Err.so what do you want me to do about it?

She didnt ask whether I want a refund or new one, but told me she can re cook. She did offered an apology later when I paid for my bill.

This restaurant is the good one of Hong Kong Style cafe. I order 3 courses dinner set that can select clear or creamy soup in the first course, in second course I choose Ribeye Canadian Prime grade medium rare that so good, smoky, crust out side and juicy inside very tender in texture. The other one I choose Pork shop steak that is good too, third course can select banana crepes or black sesame pudding and pairing with milk tea or coffee.

So far the best hk style restaurant in vancouver compared to angel Cafe, Gloucester and others. The only downside is the price is higher than those lower end hk style restaurants

This is one of my go to places as I live in a walkable distance. Very comfortable seating with good lighting (not too bright like most Hong Kong cafes). Food is good and service is also pretty good. Portions are just right. It is a little on the pricier side for a Hong Kong cafe but not by much. ~$2 more than typical. This place is significantly better than Gloucester cafe in my opinion but not as good as Van Tea Cafe.

The afternoon tea set menu was really a great price! The food was delicious! The service was fast! However, one of the waitresses was not that friendly! Additionally, they didn’t even offer a high chair after seeing us with a baby! Also, the dinner menu was kinda expensive! I totally agreed to its 3.5 stars reviews! The reason why I gave 3 stars was that the customer service was bad! For food, I would rate 4 stars!

Tad expensive but still good food. Had the teppan steak and it was actually medium rare like I asked, difficult to get sometimes at other places. Nothing that blows your mind, but if you crave chinese food, cant go wrong with Mandarin.

This cafe provides delicious food at reasonable price. It's style is similar to Hong Kong cafe （香港式茶餐廳）.

Good quality and staff is friendly, however, prices are expensive compared to similar restaurants.

I often visit this restaurant for lunch, tea time, and late night because their meal prices are affordable.

My dining experience is always pleasant because I do speak fluent Cantonese and most servers cannot communicate well in English.
I am only not happy about some servers always seem unhappy and tired.
Their drink and meal costs have raised up because BC minimum wage will go up next year June. I couldn't often go there for casual dining anymore.

Their washrooms are always clean and the cafe interior is stylish.

Overall, I still like their foods which are reasonable and delicious.

Great lunch pork chop almost like Wan Chai, Sun King Yuen. I wish though it was more crispy. Nevertheless great value, Jasmine tea+Soup+Garlic Bread with your lunch special.

There seems to be mixed opinions of this restaurant. I tried it and it's easy to understand why. The taste is great. Quality ingredients. I always order baked pork chop and other staple Cafe dishes to compare. This restaurant is great in their prep work. In terms of price, they are pricier by $3. So I ask you. Would you rather have good price but hit and miss food? Or would you be willing to pay a bit more and know it's good quality and tasty food? I'm of the latter hence my review score is higher than the average 3.5 stars. Oh, yes, must pay in cash unless your order exceeds $35 or so. Each dish is about $15.95 so if you order two dishes and something else, you're pretty much there and you can use your credit card.

Food is OK, but waaaaaay too pricey for the quality and quantity. It cost $3 to replace the rice or spaghetti with veggies instead, while others don't charge for this at all. Service is Ok. It cost us average about $18 per person for lunch, I can get something similar for $12 and get veggies instead of rice.

Hong Kong style café. Nice and clean fast service. Service was nice. It has most of my favorite dishes. Lunch special comes with Hong Kong style coffee or tea, choice of soups and a main dish. Good potion and not bad prices for this area. Will have this again.

I’ve been coming here with my family since they opened, and the service is always great here. The servers are helpful and friendly, and we feel welcomed. The food is consistently good, and the prices are fair. Some meals come with a soup and/or drink, and even dessert sometimes. We dined here again tonight, and were met with amazing service and tasty food as usual. We also look forward to their Christmas menu every year, which is a little different each time, but always delightful.
