It was early morning when I felt my chest pain. It was hard to bread or to make my body move. I rushed to the UBC hospital, emergency unit. After a few hours, they told me they weren't sure about my heart problem. Life was getting exceedingly difficult for me after that.
My family physician gave me a very restricted diet, no coffee, no tea, no milk, no eggs, no meat, and no more regular food or drink. I got referred to a Cardiologist, Dr. Broomand. He followed all the medical procedures, and then he asked me to sit down to tell me my living days were over. His prediction was a maximum of 6 months for me to live. The Cardiologist with decades of heart surgery experience saw no hope in me, and he predicted that winter was the last one I'd see. In the meantime, I had to take antibiotics before going to my dentist's visit. Due to my heart Mitral Valve Prolapse condition, any infection could kill me. My son just turned 5-year-old and I wanted to live like any other healthy person to be the best father I could be.
