Although it was packed to the gills, I only waited about 15 mins for my salmon burger and waffle fries, possibly less. The food was excellent.

Great place for breakfast, lunch & dinner foods, always delicious. Great staff and service are always friendly.

We phoned to see if dogs were allowed on the patio, and the answer was a heart-warming "bring fido". It was a hot evening and the patio umbrella was much appreciated.

Our service was excellent and the staff were friendly, helpful and skilled.

Best of all was a delicious meal; I ordered the curry with prawns and it was worth bragging about for many days afterwards-truly one of the most delightful curries I've enjoyed in a restaurant!

Three of us had a late lunch. We were seated immediately and found the menu extensive with a lot of options. The food came quickly and was great. We had one dish split and they did a great job plating the split. My fish wrap was fresh and crispy. The salad was the same. Staff was cheerful and good with suggestions The interior has a strong aviation theme with photos and models and a radial engine

Had the fish and chip. AMAZING! But take it from me unless you are extremely hungry, just get the one piece cod meal.you really feel guilty when you can't eat it all.

The bottom of the hamburger bun was very soggy and made it difficult to eat.
Had to use a fork and knife.

Food was average, service was poor, never asked if we would like our glasses refilled. I had to ask about desert and not offered if I would like any. Lasagne was not what you would expect. Asked what side you would like with Lasagne, choose salad and then they charged extra for the salad on the bill. Never did the waitress indicate it would be 3.50 extra when ordering. Talked to the manager and seemed reluctant to offer refund but did, I never did accept it. My first visit in 30 years and will not return.

A favorite comfy food place with a cozy, happy ambience which can get a wee bit noisy - but a good noisy:) It's across from the airport, a short drive from the main terminal (walking from the main terminal is a bit far but doable if you've a couple of hours to fill before flying). The bar is well stocked and has a plane wing with model airplanes hanging above the stools. Walls covered with flight and WW2 photos of air crew, etc.and the huge engine on the entry wall (Steampunk lovers & mechanics will drool) is my fav! The food servings are always ' well endowed ' and no one seems to ever leave still feeling hungry. Nothing bad to say about this lovely place but the sunroom area can get a wee bit roasty in the Summer if you don't lower the blinds.
I've yet to go when they've got their music nights but have heard they're a hoot.

Have gone for breakfast twice, awesome food and service. Restaurant aviation themed with lots of artifacts to look at. Parking is across the street.

Mary's Cafe is very popular and with that comes crowds of seniors.lots of verbal interaction for repeat customers
But we waited a long time for our sandwiches and making our payment. I really do not want to elaborate due to my respect for its longevity.so visit and make your own opinion.

After waiting 45 minutes for our food, a different server than ours told us to sushi our kids because we were keeping them entertained while waiting.

Once we got our food, fish and chips, we were unfortunately disappointed. The fish batter for the haddock was undercooked and mushy, which made it unpleasant. The chicken curry is tasty though.

Very disappointed in how we were treated, especially as a family who had come here the day before and had a nice experience.

Fast Service, friendly staff, menu has lots of choices and food is definitely a cut above Pub style and it's also well priced.

We were the first ones in the cafe after picking up a passenger at the airport. Our server was a lovely cheery woman who immediately brought us menus and our coffee and cocoa. We ordered 5wo different Egg Bennies and both were delicious…the lobster and salmon one and the Blackstone with crispy bacon…so many hash browns, that I brought leftovers home. The food was hot and delicious and arrived quickly. This restaurant never disappoints!

They were getting ready for their new years eve 3 Course dinner yet they still served us early dinners with their usual efficiency. The food was fabulous.

Definitely one of my fav spots on the peninsula. Amazing wings, best fish and chips around. In the summer this place has the best patio hands down. Sun up till sun down its in the sun.

We went here for Thanksgiving this year and it was awesome. We were in thr midst of moving and did not want to cook.

Friendly service. Sometimes too busy. Our fish and chips arrived out lemon and tartar sauce, which the staff brought when requested. Bottomless soft drinks. Live music most Thursday evenings.

A regular stop for us on the way back to the ferry terminal. Great comfort style food at good prices. The lager I had was very good and always order the lemon meringue pie! Service took a little longer than expected, but we had a lot of time before our sailing anyways lol

TL;DR: Food was ok, but took forever.

Ambiance reminds me of small town 1980s restaurant. Dark, loud. Lots of children.

Seemed relatively popular among the locals and staff were friendly. We were seated immediately in a decent table at the window.

Took about 10 minutes to get coffee and place our breakfast order. Prices were very reasonable.

50 minutes passed between placing the order and when it arrived. The server did acknowledge this when she said “you’ve waited long enough. ”

Waffles were ok; no complaints. Plain but fine. “Strawberries” were actually jam.

Traditional breakfast was also ok; one easy over egg yolk was broken.

After we finished, we waited about another 10 minutes before our plates were cleared.

We paid cash and left, as by that time we had been there almost 90 minutes.

Definitely not the worst restaurant restaurant experience I’ve ever had, but won’t make an effort to return.

Our first meal after the ferry ride. They turned the parking lot into outdoor seating with large tents and umbrella. They table was good for car watching. Not all the servers wore masks. Our server was efficient. We ordered two chicken club sandwiches. I was worried that multigrain might be a bit dry, so I chose sour dough. The sandwiches were tasty enough. Mine was on the dry side – the chicken meat was dry, the bread was dry, and the bacon was dry. My mouth felt really dry afterwards.

One star is for the pleasant servers. We sat down, got some coffee and waited an hour and a half before we inquired about the wait. Our order wasn't even started yet. Only one of us got half a coffee refill after flagging down a server. No updates, no waters or coffee refills offered. We decided to leave rather than wait another 90 min. Will not be back.

Service was poor. Restaurant was half full but it took an hour to get our meal. We ordered the roast beef special figuring all they had to do was plate it. No such luck. Roast beef was average. We won't return.

They have in door dinning as well as patio seating. The patio is next to the road. The staff were friendly. I had bangers and mash which were good.

We were more than pleased with this restaurant. The service was outstanding as was the food. Very flavourful. We sat on the deck and while there isn’t much of a view it was a nice deck. I hope to return soon.

Its been 40 minutes and my family is still waiting for appetizers (we are a group of 5) while we've watched other familes who came after us get their appetizers + meals.

First time coming back here after a few years, not even that busy. Very disappointed

Updated: food finally arrived all together, unappetizing and over cooked. Wasted visit, even the drinks can't make up for this

Shockingly horrible all around! Absolutely the worst meals we have ever been served anywhere! From the undercooked pale cold fries and limp soggy Caesar salad to the coagulated lumpy cold gravy and sour tasting burger that I had and my husband had the breakfast requesting scrambled wet eggs but instead was served one yellow egg like rubber mass with cold slimy bacon, pale undercooked hash browns and totally burnt cold toast! I have never seen everything in one meal be so wrong and terrible × 2! Poor service as well and a long wait. About a month ago we were here, originally one of our favorite places but they must have made many bad changes for our experience to turn us off for life! We only managed a few bites of our meal and when our virtually untouched plates were picked up without comment, I mentioned it was not very good which fell on deaf ears!? !
Due to pandemic we didn't push the issue and just paid with a tip and left. Later I was running to the toilet, the few bites I had left me sick for the rest of the day and night!
We used to love coming here but now will never come again!

Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed the waffles, with fresh whipped cream and extremely fresh strawberries. Waitress confessed she had a mishap with the whiped cream mixer that exploded in her face in the kitchen, but was jovial and friendly. Also ordered an Earl Grey tea expecting a small cup for that price, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a full tea pot, with a refillable glass. Everyone else in our party was satisfied with their meals too.

Perhaps the parking is a bit of a precarious endeavor, as you have to park across a busy street from it.

Have driven by many times and always wanted to stop. Nice patio seating but everything else disappointing. Food was just average and service was non existent. Won't be back. Go to the Roost or the Spitfire Grill Instead.

There’s a story to be told: ZERO

We were with friends, visiting in the area, and called at 4: 53pm, to enquire whether reservations were required. “Not after 5pm, ” was the answer.

Arrived at 5.17 pm, and were seated outdoors, at the 2nd or 3rd last table.

We soon received glasses of water, the waited... And waited... Approx.an hour before we were asked for our order.
We ordered some Monday 1/2 price special hot wings, crab cakes, an apple cider, and a beer; at the same time we ordered our main courses, with a potential take-out at the end.
We expressly requested separate checks.

It took a very LONG time to receive our appies; the beer was warm, and waters had been refilled a time or two.

We dug in, mentioning that we still had a 2+ hr drive to get home.

Again, we WAITED... WAITED... WAITED - our server completely ignoring us for MUCH TOO LONG.

We asked another server, “Would you be able to check on the ETA for our meals? ” She interpreted that to mean we were asking for our checks!

Finally, our server was chatting it up with a table not far from ours. It was approaching 2+ hrs. “When do you think we’ll get our meals?.. We still have 2+ hrs drive to get home, and the sun is setting. ”

Her response floored us all, “There is a short order cook and a chef in the kitchen. It takes a while - I ordered your appies first. Then, when I see that you are done, I go back to place your entrees. ”

We asked whether it could be sped up a little. We had already witnessed several guests who had arrived after we did, and were already departed. We still had not seen our main course. We asked her to raise the issue with the manager. “Absolutely, I’ll do that! ”

She left. (She did not raise it with anyone).

We WAITED... And WAITED... And WAITED some more.

Meanwhile my wife was beginning to shiver, as the evening sun lost it’s heat capacity. We considered walking out... To head home... Given that our meals weren’t coming.

Less than 50% of patrons were left - all had arrived recently.

We finally were able to enquire if the server, again, feeling like we had been recognized as non-locals, and were simply not going to get our meals!

She promise they would be coming.

I left the café, to collect a blanket and extra jacket for my wife.

On the way back, I met two couples who had arrived approx 20 minutes after we had. They were returning to their cars.
I asked whether they had been served in a reasonable amount of time. “Oh! It was busy in there. It took longer than usual! ” they offered.

“Don’t know what that means, ” I said, “not from around here. Was just wondering. I’m heading back with a blanket for my wife. We are still waiting for our meals. ”

Sat back down at the table. My wife was already getting a headache, due to lack of required timely intake of nutrition, shivering from the chill of the evening.

Nearly 3 HRS after arrival, we were served our meals.
Comments included “good cakes, but not the best I’ve tasted”, “pretty good clam chowder, ” and “a tiny bit gristly, but OK liver. ”

Waiting for our checks, I needed to use the restroom. I saw someone who appeared to be “in charge”. Senior staffer.

I decided to register our problem with her.
She responded immediately, as someone who was about to take action. She asked me to point out the table. I described the problem.
She responded as a person of action - “We don’t have a manager on-site, but I’m going to call the owner. ”
I expressed my appreciation, and walked back out.

When the server brought them to the table, it was ONE check!
She explained that they had discounted our bill, and had not charged for the beer and cider.

We asked her to split the bill.

When she returned there was NO DISCOUNT of any kind, other than the missing drinks:
3 crab cakes, a scallop & penne meal that had almost no scallops, and additional shrimp, 10 lemon pepper & 10 honey garlic wings, liver and onions meal, cost us $68!

Sorry for the scroll. I don’t review frequently. This experience required a mention.

Food is excellent, and menu has great variety, with daily specials.
Staff is great and more than happy to accomodate any food allergies.
Saving the best for last, if your an aviation buff, you will love the decor which features a Pratt 985 on the wall and memorabilia of aviation history, a winner for everybody!

One of the best! Mary's has great food and great service. The prices are reasonable. Now Mary's has converted their patio into an outdoor eating area. They have picnic tables under a large tent. Very comfy.

Have been a regular customer for the past 3 years. Went fordinner with a friend and 4 year old grand daughter 29 May, 2021. From taking the order till we received our food took 1 hour 10 minutes. Food arrived.burgers were luke warm, fries were overcooked and cold.
Servers kept apologizing for the amount of time it was taking saying too many take out orders, cooks can't keep up etc.only saw 3 take out orders leave the restaurant the entire time we were there.extremely disappointed in the quality of food and
service. W9nt be returning

I have been here a number of times over the last ten years and while I’ve always found them to have decent food and competitive prices, my last experience was really poor. Mediocre food, poor service - server didn’t smile once and seemed annoyed to be there, and their drinks have gotten exorbitantly expensive. $13 for a mimosa that’s maybe 1/2 cup of liquid? Really?

I know that restaurants have been hit hard by the pandemic and I don’t want to be harsh but my other favourite local spots have managed to keep their food and service quality up with a reasonable uptick in prices. I’ll definitely try once more and update my review.

They are doing everything they can during a very hard time for restaurants to take care if their customers. Always a good time and food.

Terrible service the waitress was miserable and made a snide comment about the tip. Asked to get a table in the shade when first arrived and was out in the sun and told soon as one came up would get it and they continued to seat ppl in the shaded spots. Will never waste my money here again

An awesome little cafe that serves amazing food! A must-go for anyone in Sidney (and it's worth the trip from Victoria too!). As an added bonus, they serve some of the best carrot cake I've ever had!

Very dissatisfied with our service, we waited 2.5 hours for wings. When we asked where they were we got attitude from the waitress saying they were busy although tables that arrived before us had their food. Had to ask 2 times for water. Very upsetting as we are residents of Sidney and used to eat here often: (

Has a great outdoor patio with heaters and tent. The food is great and wonderful service. Hi there alot for breakfast or lunch.

Patio dining only, due to Covid restrictions, which was nice to view the aircraft landing and take-off. Staff was friendly and food was good.

We went for lunch then 4 days later breakfast. Great service for lunch. Had fish and chips and a tarter sauce that did not make me pine for my own. They have a F&C night so will definitely be back as it was very good. Breakfast was Good not the F&C standard this time I had seafood Benny. Good hollandaise sauce but no thanks for imitation seafood. Wife had pancakes with eggs and bacon that was good. Also we were finished breakfast before they came around with more coffee. Just could not get the waitress attention. When the kitchen is running slow you should be topping up customers coffee. Will we return yes but probably for lunch or dinner only.

What an absolute adorable gem! Food is good. Quaint environment with lovely staff. Breakfast was a real treat. So much memorabilia decorated this adorable backroad cafe by the airport, made for an interesting visit. Hope to visit again soon. Absolutely love finding mom and pop places with such a great vibe. Suitable for families. Well done Mary!

I went to Mary's last month and I ordered there honey garlic chicken wings. The next morning at 2 am I had to rush to the bathroom and was throwing up the food I ate. For the next hour I was in the bathroom until I got a bowl and went to bed. In the morning I had to stay on my couch and take medicine and drink ginger ale. I've never got sick before when I went to Mary's Blue Moon cafe or when I eat honey garlic chicken wings so. Please make sure that the cheif are washing there hands and that the food is still good.
