Actually, quite a nice place to have great fun specifically when the weather does not allow outdoor activities. Why not spending a lazy, dismal Saturday afternoon in such an artsy atmosphere. Vancouverians should better acknowledge such opportunities (more than just spending time in useless, crowded shopping malls and junkfood court!).

I loved the theater, comfortable seats. I was 9 rows up, center and had a good view of the stage.

Definitely a great place for art lovers, well, for anyone who appreciate beauty, I would say Free displays are already worth visiting, needless to mention those coming-up performances.

Masses theatre was nice except the seats were not comfortable and lighting was very foggy so I kept feeling like something is wrong with my eyes.
02 October 2022 15:12
Performed here for Namaste Canada show. It was a majestic stage with enough seatings and wonderful surround sound. As a performer the stage was so comfortable to move around.
01 October 2022 20:08
Absolutely the most uncomfortable seats I've encountered at any theatre. If you're over 5.5 feet tall, prepare to be uncomfortable the entire time because there is literally no leg room at all.
31 July 2022 10:29
Went to NA meeting there was a good venue. Individual fixed seats with armrests. Clean bathrooms
25 July 2022 1:39
The Vancouver women's choir had an excellent show with a quartet from Scotland.
Great venue but parking is limited need to arrive early

Saw the Rocket Man/Piano Man tribute group, it was a lot of fun. The theatre itself was nothing fancy but perfectly functional.
25 May 2022 1:19
Saw Music of the Night. Fabulous! Very slow entry to the facility so show started late. Need more staff!
26 April 2022 13:45
Excellent staff. Mina was so helpful when I lost my item during an event at the theatre. Honest, respectful and just overall great positive team. We enjoyed the event as well, 5 stars!
20 April 2022 11:25
Parking is an issue, but don't be afraid to park sensibly on the school property. The theatre is beautiful inside. Well lit foyer. Seats are older but comfortable.
12 April 2022 16:52
Loved checking out our latest theatre performance here. A very community oriented vibe to the space and very friendly staff.
03 April 2022 18:53
We went to watch Noises Off, and the Arts Club killed it. Knocked it outta the park. Well done!

Oh, and the theatre is awesome too lol
29 March 2022 2:06
Saw Noises Off! There and it was AMAZING, honestly one of the best live performances I've ever seen, everyone in it crushed it and we were cry laughing.
08 March 2022 8:28
The new management is doing an excellent job of bringing the theater into a new and productive place.

A treasured New Westminster theater on 8th and 8th. Support the theater and actors and enrich your life!
28 January 2022 6:09
Every bodybuilder in BC has a handful of fond memories at this place. Unless you're a loser lol
25 January 2022 16:08
Seating at full capacity now.wasn't aware of this when I bought tickets as they were showing the seating chart for physical distancing. Wasn't too happy about that as we all had to wear our masks throughout the entire performance.

Massey Theater since 1949. It's the little things in life that make me proud to be a Canadian. One of the few places in Canada that hasn't been affected by the poor decisions of the Justin Trudeau Government. Let's protect this place and keep it Canadian!

The staff are the nicest here!
You dont find that in many places these days.that old fashioned friendliness and good manners. I also love the old theatre, it feels nostalgic yet is in good repair and has comfy seats. Always look forward to coming back here.
06 April 2020 22:52
Not bad but not great for disabled people. Seats are not comfortable for longer performances and parking was terrible.
30 March 2020 6:09
Only a 4 because the lady wouldn't let me in with my food and i missed part of the show because of it
08 March 2020 15:48
Went to see the Nutcracker this Christmas. The performance was stunning, and Iike that there is a live theatre in New West
01 March 2020 11:48
Very old theatre. The seats are tight and there's not a lot of height in each row so it can be difficult to see over the head of the person in front of you. Poor cellular connection. The theatre is part of a highschool however, so the outdated+ness makes sense. Love that the students can showcase their talents on stage while keeping the admission price affordable.
01 March 2020 3:40
Nice comfortable and cozy theatre with decent visibility and good sound quality. Helpful staff and box office. One thing that is disappointing is that you can't take beverages into the show so you need to eat or drink in a hurry at intermission.

I’ve hosted events at the Massey Theatre since 2016 and the staff at the Massey are great! They are always willing to work with my event the Vancity Showdown held in the fall each year and accommodate the growth that I’ve had over the years. If you are in need of a venue within the New Westminster area make sure to check out this theatre as it might be the gem you are looking for
17 February 2020 7:47
A cavernous auditorium, Massey Theatre gets the job done if you need to stuff lots of bums into lots of seats, but intimate theatrical experiences of any sort are difficult to achieve here. Nonetheless, it provides a big space for big productions and its institutional neutrality helps keep the audience focused on the stage.

It's old. It is part of New Westminster Secondary School which uses it as their theater also. The school is being replaced so why not the theatre? Acoustics are not great. Seats are not comfortable although the theatre's design is such that every seat has no issues for viewing the stage. Lobby is shabby with ceiling tiles loose and burned out lights. Washrooms are too small with huge lineups during intermission. This is not a classic/heritage building worth keeping. Opened in 1949 and looks it's age. Remodeling would cost as much as building a new one.

Comedian Shaun Majumder was awesome and gets a 5/5!
The theatres seats are very narrow and I found my lumpy, not so comfy.

Unless this venue is hosting someone you must absolutely see, do not give this venue your business. The staff are totally incompetent, ranging from them not even knowing where to direct ticket holders for their seating to outright refusing to deal with disruptive and threatening patrons during events. The location manager refused to deal with a number of people who were clearly drunk and interrupting numerous rows around them throughout the show. After pressuring him to do his job, he called down an usher to deal with the people, only for the usher to then take 5-6 songs to actually come over and ask them to behave or leave. All in all: This venue's staff do not care about or respect patrons, nor the money they spent for a night out, and you're better served taking your business elsewhere.

Big place conveniently located. They have a big Parking lot but considering the seating capacity, finding a spot is an issue otherwise, 5 stars.

Great theatre and ambience. Gives a very good overall feel. The acoustics are just amazing! Very high quality. Provides a great and immersive experience. Would recommend going here for concerts or cultural programs. Totally worth it
16 August 2019 5:24
Adequate parking, although it is spread around the perimeter of the building. Seats are not in great shape, but I have felt worse. Bathrooms are kept clean, but struggle during times of high volume. Acoustics are good. At times if you sit up close and far to one side, the view of the stage is really shallow. Not good for large dance numbers if your kid is dancing off to one side of the dance troupe.
31 July 2019 16:24
The theater opened in 1949, a bit old but still comfortable, good acoustic, friendly and well organized staff. (Thanks Ande!)
25 July 2019 17:32
We've been hear a few times for my daughter's recital. It's a nice theater. Customer service is nice.it's a bit old and not enough parking.
04 July 2019 11:19
Going to see a musical there would recommend that you go a hour early for parking issues, clean place, have fun
03 July 2019 11:45
Massey theatre is in New Westminster. One of only a handful of live theatres left in the lower mainland. One of the landmarks of New Westminster it is home to many live theatre shows and musical events. Easy to get to and plenty of free parking.

Seems hearing loss is now included!
I had been there several times. The sound used to be loud enough, smooth and good but on Sat May 18,2019 the sound was extremely and harmfully loud!
- is there any bylaws making you guys to respect people's health? !
- shouldnt you set a limit on your amps? !
- how much is the maximum allowed dB in theatres?
Heading to my family doctor tmrw.
Happy Victoria day!

Fantastic Venue, we were there for the annual Singing in the Rain production, which was fantastic.
Currently 4 stars do to the parking situation, it is a bit of a gong show, but they are working on it so once I get another chance to go when that project is done, I will re rate.

This theater has a fantastic acoustic feature. I saw musical performance in this theater and i sit in balcony, little uncomfortable due to seats but sound and visibility was great.
23 May 2019 4:11
My first time at this theater. Staff are well organized. I think Massey capacity is around 1200 seats. There are some space for the wheelchairs. Balcony holds almost 400 seats
