Refused to sell me glasses because I did not have my prescription in hand. I had $1700 in unused annual benefits to spend. Bad policy. Wasn’t offered any solution was just outright refused service.

Over the last decades, Dr Maycock has always been extremely patient and forthcoming sharing his expertise about how my eyes are doing. The corrections he has prescribed for my lenses have always been just what I've needed.

I have been a patient at Maycock Eyecare for many years. I have found the staff - particularly the optometrist I have dealt with - to be responsive to questions and concerns, knowledgeable, and committed to ensuring the best care possible. Their equipment is state of the art as well. It's absolutely my "go to" eyecare facility.

Dr. Jason Maycock is the nicest medical professional I have ever met. He goes the extra mile to address your vision problems and will check in after appointments to make sure you're satisfied with any new prescriptions or products. I highly recommend Maycock Eyecare.

Jason always manages to provide comprehensive eye care, answers all of my questions, and gets the job done quickly and efficiently, without ever being in a rush. I recently had an appointment at Maycock Eyecare, and while the facility itself was up to standard, I was disappointed with the interpersonal aspect of my visit. The optometrist I saw made several comments that I felt were patronizing. When discussing about my plans to get laser eye surgery, I was told bluntly to “save up, ” which came across as inconsiderate. Once my vision was assessed, they also mentioned that I was their "worst case patient" during their longstanding tenure at the establishment. Such comments felt unnecessary and detracted from my experience. While technical expertise is vital, compassionate and tactful communication should accompany it. My hope is that this feedback can lead to more considerate interactions for future patients.

I've been seeing Jason for over ten years. He tells you and shows you what's going on in your eyes, and what indications there might be for various diseases or conditions. He communicates well. He has the latest test equipment. He saved my bacon when I had a torn retina one morning and had no idea what was going on. A Saturday, he saw me right away and arranged an appointment with Dr. Erasmus immediately. Good guy, decent staff. His frames are on the expensive side but there is lots of choice.

Its the second time I have been to this office - Dr. Catchuk being the Optometrist. What an amazing guy and clinician he is. I myself am a physician and I really appreciate his bedside manner and skills. He very quickly diagnosed a problem with my one implanted lens and made an extra effort with the referral for laser treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Catchuk

I purchased a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses while on vacation in 2019, but 2 years later 7/12/2021 my daughter broke them while having one of her terrible 2 tantrums. I went to Maycock at 9 am this morning 7/13/2021 to see about getting them fixed knowing that they carry Oliver Peoples and the technician gladly fixed them on the spot:) When I asked how much $ as I'd like to pay, she said not to worry about it and to have a great day.
Well, the is exactly why we should support local and especially shop at Maycock, excellent service:)

Doctor was competent and friendly. Overzealous policy that patients must be last 14 days on Vancouver Island. Rarely do I leave negative review, however, having appointment canceled due to having a non contact job that takes me off Vancouver Island and error in billing with lack of interest to address issue makes it seem they put themselves in front of customer service.

I've been going to Dr Jason Maycock for eye exams for many years and am consistently delighted with the experience that he provides. The exam is very thorough and Dr Maycock provides clear information about the exam results. He is very receptive to questions and provides detailed answers. He has a great professional manner.

I’ve been a client for many years, and recently had a new eye exam (Dr Catchuk) and worked with floor staff (Nicole & Kelly) to get new glasses. I was very impressed with the service. I work in graphic design and photography, and so my vision and sensitivity to subtleties of colour are extra important to me. Every step at Maycock was un-rushed, communicative and thorough — with very intelligent people providing me with support. Greatly appreciated!

In response to the reply from the owner I felt it necessary to add to my initial review (below). I was a customer and Mr. Maycock was not present when my eye exam was done. Further it is important for anyone else who may have had a similar experience to mine that it doesn't matter what Mr. Maycock claims with regard to their policies, etc, but more so on not dismissing the truth of what really happened and giving an apology is all that is necessary.

Felt rushed and got no information about my dry eye condition. Was told I needed bi-focals and was shown some glasses, but didn't purchase any as they were very pricey. However they "accidentally" charged my insurance company for the glasses I didn't purchase, claiming the mistake happened when they had to check what my deductible would be and could only do this by submitting a claim. Just be careful if you go there to make sure what information you provide to them, especially with regards to insurance.

Three years ago my wife and I searched all the "funky" eyeglass stores in Victoria as we were in need of new glasses and sunglasses, and like something a little different. We ended up at Maycock, which had the best selection and where we each bought new eyeglasses and sunglasses in anticipation of a trip to The Bahamas. There were delays due to the lens manufacturer sending the wrong lenses on my sunglasses. This caused a delay that would mean that I would not have the glasses before leaving. The owner, Carrie made arrangements to overnight the glasses to our hotel and took care of all the logistics thus making our trip more enjoyable. This is customer service.

Over the 3 years, I have received more compliments for the unique eyeglasses that I chose than for all the eyeglasses I have worn for 50 years. Unfortunately, the frame broke. I took it into Maycock and Carrie arranged for the eyeglass repair locally while she contacted the manufacturer about a possible replacement. Although the warranty was for a year, the manufacturer decided to take the glasses back and replace them no charge. I give Carrie credit for pursuing this, knowing it may be futile. She certainly went the extra mile.

I think that Maycock has the best selection of glasses in and around town. Eye exams with Jason are very thorough and the equipment seems state of the art. Staff have great attitudes and some even remember my name when I arrive.

Overall, a quality operation that understands customer service.

Maycock Eyewear and it's staff are the eyewear gem of Victoria! From scheduling the appointment, to having my eye exam with the technician and doctor, I was met with high-level service and expertise. One of the highlights of the experience was working with Jodea. Not only was she an expert in their assortment of products and designers, but she had a knack for lens and frame design that really simplified the process. Her passion and care for her clients is undoubtable and she made the experience very comfortable, while keeping safety at the forefront. She immediately impressed me with her product knowledge and professionalism, which were both exceptional. She leads with a genuine keenness to find exactly what you are looking for and made suggestions that demonstrated she really listened and understood my taste and preference.

The facility was state-of-the-art, clean and welcoming. The Optician I met with, Dr. Catchuk, was very professional and gave me detailed information about my eyes and my prescription to bolster me in making an informed decision. The eye exam was comprehensive and technical. His bedside manner brought an ease to what would normally be an uncomfortable experience. The technician was also wonderful and caring. I would highly recommend Maycock Eyewear.

The optometric doctors at Maycock Eyecare, have consistently shown me the highest levels of care, competence, attention, and skill. They also fit me in on short notice, for medical emergencies. They are friendly, empathic, informative, and comforting. What more can I say? I trust my vision to their care and I have confidence in their capabilities. I highly recommend them.

If you are new to Victoria, I would definitely recommend this office for your optometric needs.

I've had two visits over the past month with Optometrist Nicholas Catchuk. He is outstanding! Careful, thorough, informative and just plain nice. The office is very well appointed and uses state of the art equipment - I particularly appreciated being able to have retinal exams without pupil dilatation. The reception staff were able to get me in quickly despite Covid restrictions and I was very grateful for that. Finally I met with a great dispensing optician Nicole, and with her help bought two new frames.
High marks to all the staff I met. Thank you for the exceptional care and service!

What a great experience! My grandma and my mum both had eye exams and beautiful glasses at Maycock, so I decided to book an appointment shortly after. I was pleased with how quickly I was able to get in, how extensive the exam were, and how attentive the staff is.

I decided to choose a Shwood pair of glasses that are so perfect for me! I had to come in to get an adjustment a week after & it was a simple fix of silicone pads which enhanced my glasses to a new level! I am very pleased with the service and I would recommend this business to anyone!

Dr. Jason Maycock has literally saved my eyesight more than once. His rapid reaction in getting me in to a top specialist within an hour was crucial in stopping a serious issue in its tracks. I much prefer seeing him for eye health related matters than some of the ophthalmologists I've seen. He is caring and knows his stuff. Moreover, his staff is courteous and professional and the glasses I purchased through them were outstanding and look great. Thank you, Jason, you are a great doctor.

I have struggled with dry eyes for as long as I remember. Dr. Maycock shed light that it was rosacea causing the dryness and gave clear instructions on how to help treat it. I just want to say thanks so much to the entire staff at Maycock Optical. It was an excellent experience. I can not thank you enough.

I've dealt w/ Maycock and Dr Letkemann in the past and my experience has been positive. My latest experience was even better. Recently, Adriana helped me w/ the selection and fit of my new eyeglasses and I am extremely pleased w/ them. Adriana was personable, professional, responsive and attentive in all ways. I am especially impressed with her knack of selecting the right frames to suit me. She is an asset to the business.

I bent my glasses about a week ago and I tried to repair them myself, but I was unsuccessful. After reading multiple reviews about Maycock and how they fixed broken glasses, and decided I would go in to see if they could fix them. I was told that because I bought them online, they would not fix them as "they do not promote online shopping for glasses. " All that was needed to fix them was putting the screw back into the hinge. I understand if I had to pay a fee or something and I probably would have, but nope.

Went in for a quick adjustment on my glasses - Kelly was super friendly and didn’t charge me even though I had purchased my glasses elsewhere (and was obviously willing to pay). Amazing service!
