Oh man I sure felt stupid just calling in to make sure they were open on Thanksgiving Monday and asking if they have golf clubs available. Even though I forgot what they were momentarily called. Damn my bad than

All the way from 1st hole to 18th hole, mosquitos, marshal and the players behind my group was nightmare.

My wife and i Had a tee off at 8 in the friday morning at mcclerry golf course in vancouver.
I hit trouble shot for my first driver shot
I was trying to hit my second shot like most player do. Right before hitting driver,
One of the old guy behind my group yelled at me that do not hit the second ball.
On top of that, he told me that it is better to move tee box forward for me.
What a rude attitude this guy.
On the third hole, the marshal drove at me and saying that one of the player who is mcclerry golf course manager playing behind my group. (so what?)
And he told me do not hit the ball twice
I felt that The marshal was bugging me too
I found out that the marshal was played with me
The old guy who was playing behind me was not a golf course manager
Why did the marshal lie at me?
Does golf course manager matter to me? NO
When i was standing at the 17th hole to set up,
That person behind my group, misshot the ball and it landed just few feets away where i was standing.
Those guys did not call fore at all
The players, the marshal and mosquittos were terrible. It was night mare.

It's a nice golf course runs by the city. The place is well keep. The restaurant is good for a simple meal and coffee.

Pretty pricey for a city course. $50 plus $50 for power Golf cart and have to return at 830pm

Great public course that gets less love than it should. The first 6 or so holes are kind of wonky but once you hit the back nine the course blossoms into something beautiful.
Pro tip: hit from the blues on the par 3 13 even if you're hitting whites, the hole turns into something magical at the top of the steps and if you hit the green you're guaranteed to love the hole forever! It plays 190-200 from up there. ️️

Very rude staff and course not maintained well. Leaves all over the greens, middle of fairway just looks like it was eaten up by a tank. I was shocked at the marshals and how they speak to guests in such condescending manner. First time there and just was very disappointed.

The golf course is nice and I play about 30 times a year there usually with no issues, however, my reason for writing comes from a terrible experience with the Pro shop employee working today (Sunday, May 21st) named Teddy who was incredibly rude and unnecessarily snarky over a lost Junior Membership card. Even after I suggested he could look me up in the system by phone number or email as I play there frequently, he still acted in a needless and dramatic way and offered no help to rectify the situation whatsoever. After another (far more helpful and competent) employee gave me a replacement for the lost card, Teddy even went as far as to chip in with snide comments. For example, when I briefly glanced in his direction while the other employee was helping print my new card, he asked If I had a "staring problem", or if I was trying to "sike him out". Someone with an attitude like Teddy does not belong in any position of customer service and clearly needs to be re-trained.

From the moment you arrive, you'll be greeted by a friendly and helpful staff that is dedicated to ensuring your round is nothing short of perfect. Overall, I would highly recommend this golf course to anyone who loves the game of golf. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior, this course is sure to provide a challenging and enjoyable round of golf that you won't soon forget.

Mcleary quit using temp greens even if it winter. There are plenty of courses in Vancouver that don’t use winter temp greens as long as their is no frost or no snow.

Terrible experience at McCleery GC. I had one of the worst customer service experiences dealing with Kim. She is very rude and aggressive. I don't know who she is bribing to run the proshop at McCleary, but I think it is time for her to go.

The course is amazing particularly the 12th, 17th holes. Sometimes the two holes are my nightmare, but I love the feeling.

I had tested positive for Covid today, so I had my friend to call in and cancel our game for next week. Jay picked up the phone and had an extremely bad attitude, saying we cannot cancel and that Covid doesn't matter. I've never seen someone so irresponsible, I am currently in self-quarantine to help slow the spread of the virus. Would not ever play this course again.

Greens and fairways decent. Staff friendly and efficient.
The first cut of rough very poor. Bald spots a few feet from the green. Rough just off the fairway often long, ball easily lost or large barren areas.
New samd needed in traps, very little depth.
Poor value compared to Fraserview and especially the Burnaby courses.
I will not be back.

Course was not maintained, which would have been fine except for the course marshal. We had two people with us who were not golfers so in all honesty they were not driving the balls the course was expecting. To try and mitigate this we played best ball to keep up with the pace of play. On the first 5 holes we had a marshall watching us though we got ahead of the group behind us so as not to disrupt anyone else’s game. On the 10th hole the marshall reprimanded us for being 1
Minute behind our “pace of play time”. This is despite the fact we were well ahead of the group behind of us.

I love golfing as it allows me to relax and disengage of my work life. I understand that the role of the course marshall is to maintain the pace of play in order to not disturb anyone else’s game. However, in this case, there was not a group behind us, and pace of play was maintained. Despite this the the course marshal continued to follow us as the “time” was all that maintained.

I would highly recommend this course for anyone who wants the experience of playing a GPA course without the quality. Player experience was not taken into consideration and lead to a stressful and difficult game.

The staff in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful. However, the marshal I encountered during by round there was an absolute lunatic. We had complained that we were behind pace, when he came out, he was verbally abusive towards us, and used offensive language that was uncalled for. We did nothing to provoke him to act in the manner he did. He then tried telling us that we weren’t behind pace when we’d played four holes at around 20 minutes every holes with a ten minute wait on the tee box, and a ten minute wait in the fairway on every single hole. The funny thing is this was on a Tuesday afternoon. Not a busy weekend or anything. As someone who has worked in the golf industry for the last ten years, I was amazed that someone who behaves in this way would ever be employed by any golf course. Other than that, the course conditions were a 2/5 which is expected for a course that gets a lot of play. There were tons of divots on all the fairways and ball marks on the greens. The scenery however was breathtaking. The practice facility is also fantastic.

Mosquitoes everywhere during summertime, especially on humid days. Groups ahead of us quit before the 9th hole due to mosquitoes. That's how bad it was. I won't come back here until autumn.

Good course and reasonably priced for a City course. Some interesting holes that's rewards a good tee shot

You will have 4 to 5 mosquitoes circling you at all times. I had to spray all exposed skin and all my clothing just to prevent them from biting me. They definitely will screw with your game. Course is tight fairways and challenging.

Great for a city course, well designed and well maintained. But marshals are BRUTAL so pace of play is extremely unpredictable. I've played 3.5 hour rounds there and I've played 5.5 hour rounds. Marshals just drive around doing nothing. They'll give you updates about who's slow, but won't do anything about it. Great course, but staff are indifferent as to whether or not you enjoy yourself.

Course is in great shape! Had a great round of twilight golf. Love the scenery and the very active wildlife. Check out the resident beavers near the 13th and 14th holes.

Pretty slow and mosquitoes were pretty bad compared to alot of other courses I've been to. Some beautiful challenging holes.

Great public golf course close to ubc.this course seems desinged for more intermediate to advance golf players definetely harder than fairview and langara golf course.small fairway and more trees.gotta know where to.hit the ball.enjoyable golf course only drawback lots of mosquitoes during summer season do not wear shorts they will sting you lol

Poor service. We went out for a round at 2pm on a Sunday and were we're excited to get a drink and a sandwich after the 9th hole. The restaurant was closed by 4pm on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Couldn't even get a bag of chips we were starving. Played the back 9 hungry. Absolutely unacceptable for how much you pay and what they have to offer. Course wasn't even that nice. Will not be back

One of the three city courses in van. Highly recommend. More technical than the other two courses

During the winter months the clubhouse is only open from 11-2pm. This is dreadful for the golfer needing refreshments.
