Meinhardt Fine Foods

I Had an accessibility issue here. I spoke to the staff about the issue and asked to speak with there manager. The manager did not speak with me and would not make an exception given the special nature of the circumstance. I'm extremely disappointed and will not shop here again. Looks like I'll be sticking with one of the many other grocery store that does not have this problem. Was at whole foods last week and had no problem there.

Excellent food, nice staff and beautiful environment. Also a very good spot for sitting outside enjoying your meal

It is a very decent place where you can find very successful, high quality products. The employees are very helpful and extremely good at their jobs. It was worth every dollar I spent.

Maria is always kind and helpful, Meinhardt should be proud to have her in their team for so many years. Thank you Maria, it’s always nice to see you at this store!

I was in the other day, and a wonderful employee spent at least 15 minutes helping me pick out speciality olives and condiments to put together in a gift basket. She was absolutely wonderful, and i so appreciate how she took the time to thoroughly chat with me and help me out. I will return just to thank her.

I have to bring back produce regularly here and now I bought garlic and it was all soft and yellow. Can even trust their garlic! Love the concept of this business but it’s been hurtling towards bankruptcy for a number of years now. This ain’t no Dean & Deluca folks. Grab your Italian biscuits and get the heck out as fast as you can.

Reminds me of a European grocer - good selection of fresh produce, meat, baked goods - and a hot food bar!

Very expensive Hot food bento box. One costs 59 bucks. Felt like being ripped off, although food looks delicious.

A great place for herbs, import packaged ingredients, jams, fresh produce and amazing deli and food to go.

Very disappointing experience.
We wanted hot beverage and pastry. They batted zero.
Expresso machine was not working. Only herbal tea, not regular. Fresh scones kept in refrigerated display. Lemon meringue tart skimpy on the lemon and undercooked meringue. And no butter for the scone.
The outside tables were filthy, no one cleans them.
The manager, when told this, feigned care but couldn't hide her insincerity.

Easily the best cheese croissant in the city, it’s no wonder they are almost always sold out.

Market has a nice assortment of specialty products. Great place to find new teas or try unusual chocolate bars.

I write this review from a position of at times spending foolishly and can afford to do so. I well know this is a gourmet store. Very nice deli section (which sells at a premium). The shelves are nicely packaged with items some of which cater to a particular palette, are smaller than what you would expect but then I suppose they are trying to be as gourmet as possible. But does everything have to be miniature and sold at a price point of buying a crate? Also, services kind of sucks here as all the staff are busy at the multiple check-out registers and never available to help find stuff. If this store had any neighbourhood competition, they would not survive with these prices.

It's a wonderful store, very well stocked with amazing ready made foods. Unfortunately, I didn't see many vegan options or gluten free. I got the Vegan Taste Of Persia pack and it was to die for.

Really expensive for same products you can find else where.
They're hot food section is real good though, palak paneer for the win

Just an amazing selection of interesting foods.but a tad pricey! ! Make sure you've brought a big wallet. But it's all quality

Good, but over priced. Miss the old manager n staff. People seem done. Guess that what to expect during pandemic. Retail is rough. I say hello nothing back. Maybe I keep catching bad days.

Ordered the Thanksgiving turkey dinner for 6. Very reasonable price for everything that was included. Good variety of fixings and very tasty. Complemented the other items that I now had time to prepare at home.

These guys have the best home made gravy, cranberry sauce, turkey and stuffing! Stuffing is the best!

Overpriced store. Unless you want to throw away your money not really worth spending. Same produce at other stores and cheaper. Unhappy employees.

Went to the hot bar and got ratatouille, a dijon chicken thigh and a cranberry turkey sandwich. Everything that I got I could have made better and cheaper at home or paid the same price at a sit in restaurant.

The ratatouille was fine, the dijon chicken thigh was not marinated long enough and lacked flavour and the sandwich lacked cranberry, was dry and the bread was sub par for the price.

I also had a oatmeal cookie which had plenty of flavour but I like my oatmeal cookies not that sweet. I have no idea who's in the kitchen but it is all over the place.

Good pastries and bakery items, higher price point for other grocery and produce make some hesitant to buy here. Good selection of quality items

The Meinhardt Gourmet Market is great. They have maintained consistently high quality food over the years. Excellent selection, excellent prepared food, huge selection of fish. Their space is a bit cramped. Can be crowded during peak hours. They are implementing social distancing and there can be line outside when there are too many customers inside. I would highly recommended them to anyone for sure.

Fantastic across the board. The roast beef is outstandingly good. All their salads are superb. A very thoughtful selection of all. L' chaim!

I love coming here to grab a quick salad for lunch. Food is always high quality and the staff is always so friendly. They have the full range of my favorite taylors tea too!

So many special foods to try, local and imported. They are excellent for making food shopping exciting. You will buy something you weren't expecting.

An amazing selection of deli/gourmet/fresh foods and harder to find items for when you're getting your gourmet on. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Got my guy's b-day cake there and they did a special order with a cream cheese icing so he'd have his favourite. Also, the Indian food on the hot bar is SUPER yummy!

I love this grocery store. They have wonderful prepared foods, that I count on when I am too tired to cook one night, or for a total treat. They have the best cheeses, the best spices, the best baked goods. Really decadence. The meat section always has something inventive ready to go, to cook at home.
Today, I got a loaf of Challah from Garden City Bakery. I love that they carry this bread.
I also bought some spices that I could never find in any other grocery store in Vancouver.
If you love your family, go get some Meinhardts treats.

Great food and customer service. The quality of the selections and availability of staff cost a business and raise prices. If you are in a hurry and you need something special, it's a no brainer.

Don't bother with the sandwiches they have behind the counter, the last three I've bought have had incredibly stale bread. How do you justify the expansive costs of your products when it's not fresh, at all? I've had to ask to make sure the bread isn't stale in the past, and I guess I'll have to again.

Buyer beware.

A bit pricey, but fresh produce, good selection. Good selection of pastries, good hot food to go. Mediocre seafood compared to others. Good floral selection. Hard to find items like Hunter Brown brown butter and Mighty Pickles. Good check out. Street parking.

Definitely no social distancing guidelines being followed by the people in the store whatsoever anymore.

This place has some high end food - most of it is high quality packaged goods, however the produce, meat, fresh foods are at best good and not great. Overall, this place is good if you're in a pinch and need something quick, but the prices are absolutely egregious - i.e, a bag of chips ($8). Bananas ($5).

Higher end supermarket, with prices that reflect their ability to carry a wide variety of niche food items and the elevated quality of products. Large hot sauce selection at the back of the store. Great variety of local vancouver-made food products, kind staff, knowledgable seafood and deli counters, and the ready-made take-away food tastes great.

I have bought a piece of tiramisu cake which was frozen on the inside! Which means they dont make their stuff fresh.who knows maybe that piece was from 1990's.they are acting like a high end store with low morals!

It's a wonderful European style market with a huge selection of items, and a lot of hard to find ingredients. It's expensive for the most part so be prepared.

This location always has such friendly service! Fresh produce is delivered regularly and pre-prepped stuffed chicken is really handy too.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON ANY PRODUCT YOU BUY HERE. In the last year it's happened way too often that I find things on the shelves or fridges that have clearly been expired for weeks or more.

I've told the staff and managers several times but it continues to happen. I just bought a drink yesterday and forgot to check and it had expired 3 weeks ago so I had to throw it out.

Normally I would have returned it, but nowadays I'm trying to go to the grocery store as little as possible for obvious reasons.

You figure a gourmet overpriced grocery store like this would be more mindful of their products and make sure they don't have expired products on the shelf. Maybe this review will help since I've already told them this in the store several times.

High end gourmet store.
Things you can’t buy at other stores, seasonal quality offerings and gift baskets are exquisite and worth it.
Things you can buy at other stores will be more $$ here so would not recommend.
Fresh food bar offers tasty salads and hot buffets.

Love the food selection. However I was there today and purchased a sald and an avacodo. Signage is clear that
My avacodo was $1.99. Was charged $2.99. When I asked about it was told I was wrong. Than I mentioned the the sign and got impression they felt I was being difficult. I know it's only a dollar and the young lady Did return the dollar but I shouldnt have to argue or feel bad about your mistake. I even took a pic because I was made to feel I was in the wrong. Not cool

Great little store in west van. But too expensive. Not sure how our little grocery store will stay open, but hopefully.

Excellent place to find out favorite fish cakes and desserts, pricey but premium quality and we are very happy to come here on regular basis.

Busy but organised grocery store. Aisles might be a little narrow. Nice looking deli with tons of options. A mix of german and local foods and products. Very versatile, fresh and well stocked. Plenty of staff. Popular it seems among locals.

There were boxes and crates sitting on the floor in every aisle. I let a lady pass by me and ended up falling because there was a box behind me that I didn't see. Then my poor friend did the same thing a few minutes later in a different aisle. It was unbelievable.

Although it is pricey.the selection and quality are awfully hard to pass up.especially at holiday time. Treats galore that are hard to find.specialty items and lovely things to stuff into stockings. The store is crowded.jammed with items and at times, people.so be patient while searching out your treasures!

This place has such good desserts! I love getting something during my break at work. I got the sticky toffee pudding. W O W! So good with a take 5 coffee next door

Just paid nearly $18 for a box of palak paneer. Wish I had gone to the Indian place nearby that has a whole thali set for $12

This place will do in a pinch. They usually have nice produce and some specialty items you can't find easily elsewhere. Their hot bar is so-so. Prepare to overpay for everything.

This place is way too expensive. Of course it is mostly quality but way overpriced. I go there only when I have no other choice.

Meinhardt’s is known to be a fancy store, so I went in with high expectations and found it very lack lustre. The layout of the store doesn’t make sense, the signage for the isles is improperly placed and hard to read, the selection was lacking, and it was EXTREMELY overpriced. I paid $80 for a basket of items consisting of a bit of dairy and a very small amount of produce.

Excellent deli selection. Fish is great. I bought some haddock here at a fair price considering many other items here are quite pricey. Have to remember though that you are paying for the location (South Granville.) I enjoy their mac & cheese for lunch from the deli. I think it was about $4. So that was good. I also bought some lovely ahi tuna which I pressed into black sesame & lightly seared it. Fantastic!

My experience is summed up in the words of one of my fellow shoppers on the day I visited: "Oh no, I'm not gonna let them f*** me like this. " The grocery store is indeed quite expensive, but I love it and visit frequently!
