Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

Location was amazing! You’re right in the middle of downtown Vancouver.
The hotel itself is a little old and you can see that they tried to modernize it but only the rooms and hallways. Looks better in the pictures than in reality, but it was clean and quit. What I personally didn’t like is that literally anyone could use the elevators to the rooms. I’m used to elevators where you only get to your floor with the key and that makes me feel a little more safe.
Overall a good experience but not great.

My recent experience at the Metropolitan Vancouver left much to be desired. The hotel's only redeeming quality is its prime location. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.

The hotel itself feels quite old and desperately in need of updates and renovations to meet modern standards. The outdated facilities were a noticeable downside.

The staff I encountered were not particularly interactive or helpful, which made the overall experience less pleasant. It felt like there was a lack of attentiveness and willingness to assist.

The room I stayed in was disappointingly small, and for the price paid, it felt like there was very little value in return. All in all, while the location may be a selling point, the Metropolitan Vancouver falls short in many other aspects, making it difficult to recommend.

Very clean hotel. Rooms clean and specious, comfortable beds, bathroom large with extra chair and magnifying mirror makes it easy to apply makeup.
Excellent customer service. Anytime I asked for extra towel or blanket it was delivered to my room within minutes.
Excellent location.

Cons: rooms were old, outdated. Wish they had slippers or bathrobe in the bathroom.

Overall, good experience.

One of the best Hotels I’ve even been. Perfect location, you can reach everything easily by foot. Amazing staff overall. Friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Beds are great. We had breakfast at the Diva restaurant every morning. They have good choices and food was excellent.

Our room had a few flaws, but everything was neat and clean. The room was HUGE with a small balcony, and we left the door open for a while to listen to the Jazz Festival. We didn't use the amenities, but there is a pool, gym, and steam room. Excellent location if you don't mind a bit orlf walking but also close to public transportation.

Beautiful, modern hotel. The rooms were updated and clean. Check-in was easy and they were able to accommodate me arriving early from my flight. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the cruise terminal (10 minutes downhill on foot) and it is surrounded by plenty of restaurants and cafes. It’s also a very short walk from the Canada Line metro station, so coming from the airport is easy. The mall is right next door, so if you forget anything it can be easily replaced.

Such a nice place! Everyone is so accommodating and David was such a great help, will definitely be coming back.

I went there for my wedding preparation and stayed for two nights. My partner and I were grossed out when there was hair on the toilet and food debris on the carpet. My pillow was too smelly that I had to ask for a change. The front desk person was not very welcoming when we entered the hotel. Parking was under a dingy underground parking area, and the parking spots were very awkward. For $48 parking, we didn't think it worth the price.

Nice hotel. Clean. Staff were very polite, helpful and professional. The bed was very comfortable but we weren't sure what they were going for with the design details, it seemed a bit mixed era style. Quiet rooms which is always a perk and we were near the elevator too.

I like the location, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, surrounded by a lot of entertainment venues, malls and restaurants. It's a walking distance from Canada Place which is pretty nice. The ambiance is awesome, right from the lobby entrance to the rooms. The receptionist were welcoming and breakfast at their Diva restaurant was delicious. Generally we had a good stay.
The only downside is no microwave in the room and it's quite a driving distance to the airport, about 35mins.

Had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We came downtown for a concert & it was our first stay here. Front desk staff was fantastic! We stayed in the one Bedroom executive suite which was huge! The bed was comfy. Happy hour in the restaurant was great and the complimentary breakfast next day was great. We’re titanium Marriott members and would stay again. Only wish they had a club lounge or drink/appetizer vouchers in lieu

Excellent value for money compared to other downtown Vancouver hotels. Spacious and comfortable room, proper stand in shower, and they were able to accommodate an early check in after a 14 hour flight!

Very conveniently situated. Can't have a ocean view, Not so large and new, but adequately priced and if on business a good choice.

This is the first time staying at the metropolitan and I really enjoyed it. Staff are incredible and the rooms are good as well. As you'll see in the video there isn't much of a balcony but it's always nice to be able to have a hotel room that allows for fresh air. Everything is well captain renovated. The rooms are spacious and the location is excellent

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel has an early modern décor and architecture, which provides it an old school luxury feel not common in modern hotels. Also common of this era of hotels, the room had a large luxurious bathroom and a large king bed. The hotel is situated in an excellent location in downtown Vancouver, right across from the CF shopping centre. The hotel provided early check-in, which is impressive for a hotel located in downtown Vancouver. The hotel pool was also old school, where it was longer in length than width in order to provide for lane swimming. We enjoyed our stay and will likely come back the next time we are in Vancouver.

I couldn't get coffee pot to work request a second and same problem. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

The worst possible hotel, as a physician I was appalled by the overall upkeep of the rooms. The rooms smelt of cigarettes and the tubs were dirty. I am surprised this was recommended by the college of physicians and surgeons in BC. Strongly recommend to keep expectations to a bare minimum when visiting this location

The Metropolitan is a quiet comfortable haven in the heart of Vancouver. Perfect for vacationers seeking a low-key visit and business professionals. I dropped my colleagues at the very very busy Sutton Place lobby and walked to the Met. SP is not my scene. The Met lobby is nice sized and beautifully decorated. The reception area is small, but the service was brisk and professional. The king room was larger than expected, well appointed, clean and comfortable. There was no bothersome wait for elevators despite the higher floor. I returned later in the week and was lucky enough to get a suite upgrade. It was a similarly appointed room, and definitely qualified as a roomy and much welcomed suite. My room included a tasty and well prepared breakfast at Diva, the hotel restaurant. Please see my separate Diva review. I would return to the Met without hesitation.

Good service but dated rooms, especially the bathroom. The plastic bar soap holder was falling apart, the shower door was that old school amber glass

Clean, friendly and so close to shopping and the cruise port terminal. Check out the Diva Restaurant and Bar. You won't be disappointed.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Isabel at check-in was amazing. Everyone is extremely helpful.

Unfortunately, this review is moreso a reflection of the poor service and terrible loyalty the brand shows to it's "members" rather than some of the staff who are trying to make your stay enjoyable. In short.the hotel does not care whether you are a so called Marriott member or whatever loyalty status you hold.end of the day they are here to charge you the most they can for a room ($400/night for a standard, basic, room). If you can wrap your head around that number.then it's more unfortunate that it doesn't seem like a lot of that money gets invested into the hotel itself- the rooms are very dated and the facilities, especially the gym, are in disrepair; broken equipment and no ventilation. This hotel is in a perfect location for anyone looking to explore the many wonderful pockets of Vancouver.and maybe thats what gets people to keep coming back whether they care or not.

Very average hotel. Somewhat outdated but they did keep very clean. No reuseable bottle fill up, somewhat slow internet. Rooms and showers on the smaller size but good service and clean

The hotel condition is average. The staff was excellent. The downtown location is good. I would only stay if you need to be downtown and price is good compared to other hotels in area. Interested to see another review from two years ago mention the hot tub being under construction as the status is still the same.

Good hotel in a good location. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very courteous. Fitness room was lack-luster.

Wish I could do less than a star.at first glance it seemed wonderful (only because of the lobby), but after entering the rickidy elevator up to our $400 room for one night it was a tiny shoe box with two single beds horrible soap and overpriced liquor fridge, I then realized we had no decent toilettrees. The hot tub which was all I was looking forward to was broke the library and bar/ restaurant work out room and everything else were closing.we had received a free voucher for restaurant for getting a room but apparently could not use it because it was only for dinner which closed as soon as we arrived and breakfast which said was complementary would not accept it. Another annoyance is that I am yes a smoker, but as a” 4star hotel” I didn’t think it would be a problem. I got informed I had to smoke outside of the front of the hotel but to the side of the building because that’s there rules, not use to Vancouver I was worried and asked if I would be okay, they said they’d have someone watching over me.but for the first time ever I had a stranger come ask me if I wanted to smoke crystal meth. After going in to inform the front desk about what had happened the lady then replied what do you want me to do about it risk myself going out there getting asked to smoke meth with you? All in all it was a horrible experience and a huge let down.looks are very deceiving when it comes to this hotel and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.honestly if it was reasonably priced or had better customer service I may have been happier but for a four star hotel I’d absolutely never go there again or recommend it.

Staff was truly lovely and super helpful. Main elevators down, used service elevator for the whole stay. Rooms were clean, AC was on, had an option of floors offered upon arrival. Ended up with a view of the Four Seasons. I had a conference rate ($400 all in). My pet peeve is 2 cups of pedestrian coffee, terrible/horrible wifi, and hugely environmentally unfriendly shampoo and cream rinse bottles. Pitch them, put in the ugly dispensers or the little new hair pods! Anyway, overall happy, pet peeves consistent with most and staff amazing! Great location!

Giving less than a five stars shows how pampered society has become. Amazing room, outstanding food, and excellent location.that’s how to describe this hotel.
I’ll agree that the elevator is a death trap though.

I booked this hotel room directly with the hotel, where I was told it was a renovated and modern luxury room. I arrived to receive an "upgrade" to a suite. Bonus! Not really. I arrived to a room that appears to be straight from the 80's. Complete with that typical musty hotel room odor, carpet stains, and burnt out lightbulbs. So much for my modern luxury. You'd think that when you are spending $550 on a (very dated) hotel room, you would think they could at least get your wake-up call correct. Because I thought I can trust the Metropolitan with a wake-up call.they failed completely. It arrived 15 minutes late, with the response of "oops". Offered $50 off by speaking with the front desk, with no formal apology. At check out when the front desk agent asked how my stay was, I responded with "terrible". He only smiled, and said "that's great". Not even any question as to why my stay was terrible.

Stayed for one night to attend a concert. Great location and friendly staff. The pool and hot tub were lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Nice hotel, staff were friendly and educated. Concierge did his best to find a bar that was showing a ufc ppv. Rooms were very comfy.

Beautiful Hotel with a great location. Stayed there when it first opened under the name of the Mandarin Hotel. Great pool area and loved that they had phones right beside the toilet, so you wouldn't miss a call. Excellent service.

The food from its Diva restaurant was phenomenal. Convenient location in Vancouver downtown, easy access to subway lines/sky trains, walkable distance to every corner of downtown, 3 minutes to Robson street, and 10 minutes to Davis street.
Elevators are very slow. They mixed up the check out date, key cards were canceled 1 day earlier.

Went for after dinner drinks and dessert at Diva at the Met. Service was excellent as the drinks and meal.

A very nice building with great staff. The rooms are remodeled but you can tell it is an older building. The location is great! Across the street from the metro and walking distance to just about everything you need.

A very comfortable hotel. Our room was clean and the service people are very helpful. The hotel is up to 10 minutes from gastown and so you could easily reach it by foot.only the parking at the hotel garage is a bit expansive (86cad per night).

Not impressed with the facility at all. All of staff was great and the breakfast at Diva's was good too, but its not cheap there at all. I would be OK with the price if the quality was better. The amenities are nice as well - if they are operational and available. I do like the level of service, valet, door man, concierge, but overall quality was lacking. The room furnishings are worn and damaged, the wood table was de-laminating split, desk lamp did not work, switches in the bathroom inoperable. But the worst was the cleanliness. The main items appeared to be clean, bed, bathroom, etc - but you could tell other things were neglected. There was a layer of dust on the coffee cups, coffee maker, alarm clock, and nightstand in general like it hadnt been clean or dusted in weeks. And that is no exaggeration, I tried to show it in the photos but I'm not sure how well they show up. In addition, the hot tub was out of service and not available. For nearly $250 per night plus $43 for parking - per night - I would expect more. Especially from a hotel that is trying to make such a 4 star impression from the moment you walk in the door.

It's dated and worn but clean and you can't beat the location! The staff is helpful and friendly. It's a five minute walk from Vancouver City Centre sky train and a few blocks from the Waterfront. The Pacific Centre Mall is right across the street and there is tons of shopping on Robson which is only a couple of blocks.

Great hotel close to the cruise ship terminal (8 minutes walk) and the train line to the airport (4 minutes walk).
Room was spacious and there was a bath as well as shower. Great service from all the staff we interacted with.
Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi
Only gripe was the pillows and bed were a bit 'meh' had neck and back ache after a couple of nights, but that maybe down to me.

Comfortable room. Umbrella in room available. Mending kit available in room. Power outlets available in good location. Wooden furnished area to place luggage rather than floor.

I changed my first room at 4AM first night due to the noise.
Pros:
- the staff is helpful and friendly (5 stars for the staff!)
- nice and clean
- the pool and jacuzzi are very nice and clean. I went there at 9: 30 PM and was alone. I could see the stars through the glass roof. Add to this the romantic guitar music - just great
- the gym also looked nice (mostly because there was nobody around)
- you can check out in the morning and leave your luggage at the reception and take it at the evening.

Cons:
- I asked for a high floor and got a room at the 17th floor. It was very noisy, I couldn't sleep and eventually at 4: 00AM could not bear it anymore and called the reception. They offered to move immediately or at day time. I moved immediately. The noise had 3 main sources - the street, the elevator (mentioned also in another review) and perhaps the air conditioning system.
- it was cold in this first room. No matter if I turned the temperature regulator to the max it did not blow warm air. So I stopped the fan altogether and asked for two blankets.
- I had two twin beds which was a disappointment since I have a queen size at home and the second bed is of course of no use.
- in the first room there was a bath robe (only one despite the two beds), the second room did not have a bath robe.
- The building is surrounded by much higher buildings. As a result - the view from the top floor is ugly and the view from the bottom floors is uglier. Last year i was in Sutton place hotel and the view from there was just great (for the price of being further from the waterfront)

The staff was amazing! Super accommodating and did so much to make our honeymoon stay special! They were polite and very easy to talk to. It was so much fun staying here, will do it again our next venture out to Canada.

Spent an wonderful night at The Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver over Easter weekend. Amazing service from the valet parking attendant, to the front desk and housekeeping staff. Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Great fitness facility and pool area, really top notch. Hard to beat this location, right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I will be recommending this hotel to my friends and family for any future trips to the city.
