Midam Cafe & Bistro

This place is a bit salty and too much msg, thirsty all night long. Also their strawberry Bingsu only have 6 pieces of strawberry in it (not the whole strawberries but chopped ones)

The food is pretty good and tasty! But everyone in my family agreed it wasn't the best Korean food we had. We thought the chicken in the UFO was already fully cooked but a couple of our pieces were half done / undercooked so that was just an unpleasant surprise we didn't expect. We've tried their desserts before as well. I think their beautiful presentations set too high of an expectation for the taste that it can be a little disappointing when it doesn't taste crazy phenomenal.

Service is ok but they get pretty busy so you might have to wait a while before they respond to you ringing the bell.

The place is built with very hard surfaces so it was very noisy. That along with the fact that many young adults gathered here who generally spoke very loudly. I was able to clearly overhear the conversations from every table in the restaurant and I felt kinda intrusive and experienced an auditory overload that led to a headache. My family didn't seem as bothered by it though so it probably won't affect you as much unless you're sensitive to it or prefer more privacy like me.

Overall I think it's a nice social place to eat with friends or family if you don't mind a noisy atmosphere but just wasn't the place for me. ^^

There's alot of korean restaurants in this area and Midam is probably the most crowded at all times. The atmosphere is perfect for drinking and you can see the tables surrounding will be flooded with soju bottles. We always go for their croffle and bingsoo there but their dinner food is also really good as well!

Interesting menu, friendly staff, cool environment. The pasta was a bit bland for my taste but i really enjoyed the uniqueness of the rice cake waffle dessert.

The galbitang was really bad, meat was not warm, and the content was really lacking and everything was pretty salty.

I liked it, my friends didn’t really. The parfait and milkshake was really good, the waffles and mochi bread not so much. The place itself was cute though and really chill. Service was great too.

My second visit to Midam. Has a cool vibe with tons of NBA memobillia that may be worth over $100,000! A must visit if you are a fan of MJ!
Food-wise, it is a bit on the pricey side foe the quality. Highly recommend the fried chicken and gimmali (fried vermicelli veggie rolled in sea laver).

Had a chance to get delivery the other night. I’d say it is sometimes challenging to get food from this place as they tend to turn off ubereats. I understand though, they are probably busy.

FOOD IS EXCELLENT. I ordered squid & pork belly set and it’s the best ive had. They weren’t kidding when they said it’s tender. Flavour and spicyness is very balanced.

BEEF SHORT RIB SOUP IS A MUST TRY. I didn’t expect i would love it so much I had to write this review!

I would love to visit in person in the future!

Updated menu some time late 2021 to early 2022. A lot of new items with more variety, and portion sizes are quite large too. Good value for a meal by yourself or sharing with others. Service is a bit slow, unfortunately, and the place can be quite busy with a long wait on weekends.

A little disappointed that no Tiramisu parfait and Tiramisu shave ice. Other than that Dessert and service were good.

Always a great experience when I go there. We mostly go for the desserts, but they're food looks pretty good too. Prices are reasonable, dessert is yummy and service is good.

I haven’t tried many Korean restaurants, thus I am no reference when it comes to Korean cuisine. With that being said, I like the food at Midam, I have tried a few items of their menu such as the steak salad, bibimbap and the bulgoki. They were all good. The restaurant itself has a very different vibe, it has a lot of basketball stuff all over the place, the owner must be a Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls fan. If you are into Korean food and basketball stuff, that’s the place for you.

Their soysauce fried chicken is worst ever. Taste was like gravy? I usually don't care price but it is too much expensive that $15 for 4pieces

Good food, good price for quality and authentic Korean food. I got the Bulgogi rice bowl and the meat portions were generous and the rice was super flavourful. Minor complaint - I wish the truffle fries were thicker. These were too thin resulting in a floppy and less satisfying fry experience. The truffle sauce was good though.

Great NBA decor. I got the strawberry mochi toast and the chestnut makgeolli. Had a great time with friends.

Came here for dessert, Good service, relatively good food. The only thing that was an abomination is the rice cake with one slice of processed cheese (see attached picture) for $8 it is the biggest waste of money. I highly recommend the tiramisu.

Bar setting offering drinks, desserts and Korean main courses. Cool atmosphere.you are surrounded by basketball memorabilia.

Very dissapointed I got a a sprinkle of ground beef on my bibimbop, it was 14 dollars, the food did not taste good at all.

Burnaby location. We got rice cakes, black sesame bingsoo, and a small beef brisket dish I believe? It was all tasty. Fair warning, the menu at the restaurant was quite different from the one on line. Maybe it's a covid thing, especially during take out only. Not sure what others are talking about. We found it easy to find and the wait time was short for our order.

I have never had the pleasure of dining in Midam, but everytime we order from skip or ubereats, 7 times out of 10 its Midam. I highly recommend the hotpot dishes for groups. The desserts are crowdpleasers as well.

2nd time visiting and the food was I remembered. Amazing and tasty, had to introduce a foody friend and she found it amazing. So coming back was definitely the right choice. Service was awesome as well!

I love Midam. The theme is great, service fantastic and the food is great. Would highly recommend as they have a huge assortment of different Korean style cuisines here! The staff are also incredibly accommodating and friendly. We requested that the last Canucks game be played and they left it on for the entire game! Would highly recommend to everyone.

Came here for dessert. Their shaved ice is super stacked and never runs out of flavour. Very unique basketball themed decor as well. Great place to come for a casual dinner

We ordered the sesame bing su. It was great! Well worth the $13 and sufficient for two to share. The interior decor is all basketball - very interesting! Will be going back to try some of their other dishes.

Can’t remember what I ate with my boyfriend here but the shaved ice is good. Only downside was having to see a drunk kid vomit on/in his plate and table. Props to the waitress that cleaned it

Food is always good here, especially I like their fried chicken so much. Their Tteokbokki has very good flavour, and the deep fried veggies are so crispy!

I like they have a button on the table to call the server anytime, so convenient:)
The service is good as well. Especially the female servers are very nice. But sometimes there are men servers, then the service might be a bit different.

The service is extremely slow and the food is below standard.

We wait for 20 minutes to be seated when there are tons of empty steats in store. AND Of course, we waited even longer to order. We ordered the chicken pot and two coke. One coke came before the meal but they forgot the other coke. The pot is boiling and ready to eat, when we are wondering where is the chicken. The fried chicken came. The sauce in general is too thick and it made all the rice cake, fish cake and instant noodle stick on the pot. （BTW, The pot looks so dirty. ）

Me and my friend visited Richmond location before and both of us really like it. That's why we came all the way from vancouver to coquitlam. But this is too disapointed. Won't recommend it, won't visit again.

Great spot here. Really cool restaurant, tons of good food and dessert. I highly recommend checking it out. Service is fast too.

The service was awful. We came at 5pm and there was quite a few empty table, but we waited for 20 minutes to be seated. Also We pushed the service calling button on the table but nobody came, so we spent another 20 minutes to waiting order the food.
We ordered the “winner winner chick pot”. The edge of pot was extremely dirty (see attached picture). The ricecake tasted fine but it sticked to the pot. Also, the soup dried out soon and became really sweet. The fried chicken was tasteless. We left a lot of food at the end.
Overall, don’t recommend: (

Spicey seafood hotpot, more like spicey luke warm tofu hot pot with a prawn and a little bit of octopus. Spicey chicken dish was tastey. Order was packed like a bag of garbage, liquid leaking out of the bag onto the floor. Delivery time 1 hour 35 minutes.

Decent place to enjoy popular Korean food, desserts and drinks. The restaurant is NBA/basketball themed and that may be of interest to fans. The shaved ice is pretty good but I find the "ice" for some of the flavours (e.g. Black sesame soymilk) to be a bit watery/bland compared to others.

We've ordered a mango yogurt smoothie, it took about 40 minutes to arrive when we have finished our ice cream parfait! The waitress didn't even apologize for the delay of our drinks and when they came, they were filled with ice! We haven't been served with water after we have ordered our desserts and drinks! The servers are very young but very unprofessional! I go to a few of these Korean restaurants in the area but this one was the most disappointed of all!

Their house-made rice cakes are absolutely delicious. Their desserts are very tasty too. Perfect place to go to for any kind of get-together with friends. You can get pretty good deals from their happy hour menu. This restaurant is a must-try!

My boyfriend took me to Midam Cafe after he'd been there a few times with friends. Great hang out spot. They have a new lunch special. So much food at a very fair price. Good place to satisfy korean food cravings and get some dessert too.

The food is so good and the prices are decent. Their happy hour times are convenient as well. The menu is big and even the drinks menu is great

We went yesterday night with group of 6 people. She did not add tip on top of the bill for group service. Also they have bell to press to call server so I did not have to wait long to call server over. Food was delicious but male server kept made mistakes on things I asked so I gave 4stars.

I do not usually write a review but hands down to the hard work and his professionalism by the server!

I decided to take my family out for dinner on Thursday night not expecting it to be so busy. We were greeted with a big warm welcome from the server. He took us to our seat and gave us a little heads up that the food would take a little longer than usual. Midam was a restaurant where we had to rely on the bells which are located on the tables but he took his time to come and ask how our food was and if we needed anything else multiple times. It is really hard to get decent service from restaurants in general these days but my family and I would like to express our gratitude to the gentleman who served us that night.

Always a good place to hang out. Service is pretty good. You gotta keep ringing the bell on your table to get the waitresses attention

Jordan fans, this is the place. Ordered oreo rice cake waffles. Not disappointed at all. I wish they had more than 1 scoop ice cream. Interiors are amazing. Well thought place. One more thing very new and innovative was the call button on the table. You just press it and they come to serve. Amazing!

I have been to Korea and was very fond of the bingsu. I had yet to find an authentic one, until this place. Their desserts are to die for. Very pricey, but worth it if you know what you're looking for. The location is harder to find, but the decor on the inside is worth going there for! I only give 4 stars because of the price. Just a fair warning, the service here is traditional to Korea. They won't come to you until you ask.

Never coming back here. Very bad customer service.first of all, this place was very hard to find as there wasn't any signs outside the place. Next, i had to call the richmond location as the one listed on the internet does not work. Anyhow, we came with 8 people (7 adults and 1 kid), and the front guy kept saying they only have space if our party will be placed in separate tables. I would understand that, if the tables can't be moved. No effort to find a solution at all.

So now we get to the menu. We ordered 4 dishes and 2 desserts as some of us ate already.the guy had the gall to ask us why we're ordering so little! So impolite. Or are we expecting to much?

The bill comes and of course, automatic 15% tip included on it. I felt like it was undeserved, didn't ask us how was the food or check on us.the only time we saw them was when we asked for water, and when they cleaned up while we were still sitting on the table.

We never had this experience on other koreanrestaurants. Not sure what we did wrong either, we were never rude to any staff. In any case, lesson learned. I will never recommend this place to anybody I know.

Food and dessert were pretty good I won’t complain about that but the service was absolutely HORRIBLE! Every single item we ordered came out wrong! Not one, literally every dish, which was confusing because she seemed like she heard and understood everything and even repeated everything back but yet all of it came out wrong. It got so bad that I had to keep going back up and telling her about each wrong item that I eventually just gave up with some of the smaller ones. Made the whole experience more work then it was enjoyable. The server did apologize but I mean after the first mistake I was like yeah mistakes happen totally fine but everything turned out to be a mess which just made me think she’s not paying attention to her job at all. Even packing our food was a complicated situation. My husband and I basically had dinner separately he finished his meal by the time the remake of my meal came and then had to just watch me eat my meal before ordering dessert. No adjustments were made on our bill for the inconvenience which is not like normal restaurants who handle situations like that without it having to be brought up. Was not impressed with the whole night. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, just not worth the time and energy.

Great customer service, the workers are really kind! I forgot my retainers wrapped in tissues once and when I came back in search for it they went through the trash to retrieve them for me. Good portions and delicious food, their rice cakes and bingsoo are must haves!
