Cheap, shabby, seedy atmosphere, coupled high prices. Pay 30% to 40% more than Walmart for the same stuff.

Lots of older people live in the Champlain area; you always see elderly people with mobility issues in the plaza and this store. They know that those people can't easily go elsewhere, so they rip them off.

Even the name is a scam. This outlet is not "independent" in any sense. It proudly displays the Loblaws nested L logo, and carries tons of PC brand stuff.

Spacious layout with a lot of selection. Cashiers are super friendly. Only drawback is that the parking lot is a nightmare.

Significant improvement in product variety since re-vamping several years ago! Most prices very competitive, if not better than other places in this part of town. Recently installed self-checkout too to speed things up. Helpful, friendly staff - and always well-staffed! You really feel they are doing a lot for customer satisfaction!
Parking can be a challenge as popularity has grown quickly, but worth it for a fairly easy grocery shopping experience for variety/prices/service!
Would love more fresh seafood, but space is limited - and it seems they are slowly improving on that account!
As mentioned - they pay attention to customer needs! Bravo!

Wonderful online ordering and pick up service. Very good selection and customer service. Good prices too.

This store tends to have the stock I'm looking for. It tends to have a very clean space. Only complaint is the higher cost vs superstore, even though they are both owned by Loblaws.

Bought which was labeled vegetable samosa.there really good here.instead when I got home and went to eat, I found them filled with some mystery meat. More care needs to be taken will labeling products.
31 August 2022 18:56
Long lines, no auto checkout. Expect to wait 15-25 minutes just to pay. Came here at 7 on a weekday and only had 1 cashier open with 15 people in line
05 August 2022 14:40
Nice grocery store, lots of potions, and lots of parking. I was able to order a head cakes and they had it ready for pick up. They also scan optimum points card and if you don't have the points card, get it, its worth it!
26 July 2022 1:49
A very limited offering of items. However, I understand it's a neighborhood grocery store. I would consider it a cross between a convince and a grocery store.
08 June 2022 9:19
Store is very clean and not too crowded. But the staff r not friendly (no smiles and u can hear it in the tone of their voice) Feels like they hate their job.
29 April 2022 7:10
Surprisingly expensive. And the name is just a lie. They aren't independent. They're owned by laws. Which means they have the same selection as Superstore. But at 25% higher costs. A $3.29 bag of tortilla chips at Superstore is 3.99 at YIG. More from memory: $11 cheese vs 11.99 at YIG. $9.49 roast chicken is 12 at YIG. It's all the same stuff, same parent company. So why the huge differences?

Every other person at the checkout had very small purchases. Guess I f'd up.

First time here. Just popped in here to pickup some bread and found signage saying it was cash only since their credit/debit readers were down. Most inconvenient!
24 March 2022 19:22
Has everything anyone needs and the parking is extremely convenient. Also thr Tasty wok restaurant right outside is always so tempting.

The prices they offer there are amazing. This is some superstore discount pricing. You can see some similar items from my superstore review and compare with this place.
14 March 2022 15:23
They did not have flyer items and that is an issue. But probably one of the best Independent Grocers there is. Staff was totally awesome. I will make the drive to go back.
09 February 2022 16:00
Great place to do grocery. Thrifty and quality! I love their dairy and bakery section as they provide fresh products. Their return policy is great! Large number of staffs to help what you are looking for.
20 September 2021 19:32
A cashier named Sisu humiliated me in front of other customers when I couldn't get the tap on my debit card to work. She also angrily grabbed my bank card right out of my hands without asking permission. Hygienic? She insisted I was the only one in the store who's bank card wouldn't work. Everybody else, and the machine, don't have a problem she said. A man behind in line was vocalizing his frustration (with me!) That my bank debit card wouldn't work. Instead of trying to help me, she humiliated me (an older lady) with the irritated customer, and rolled her eyes at me. When it was clear that I was upset (to the point of years from her rudeness and not understanding why I couldn't use my debit card), she clearly laughed at me.
Another staff saw the laughing and humiliation and helped me to speak with the store management because of it.
They must be having a hard time finding decent workers. This cashier is clearly not suited to work with the public.

Pretty good selection of products are available.the produce section in particular is really nice.always vibrant and fresh
25 August 2021 17:02
Clean, attractively displayed, good Deli, Pharmacy on site. Other useful and convenient services and stores in the vicinity, including a public Library!
10 August 2021 17:59
I went to Miller’s Your independent Grocer a month ago. The Lady in the garden was so kind and nice.your garden is so amazing. It’s organize and clean. I bought my healthy and beautiful cactus with a pair price.
14 July 2021 0:29
Love the health food section where there's a much wider selection now. Would be even better if they can carry some keto bread.
02 July 2021 5:01
It's not my usual store but do bring my friend here. They try very hard to be kind. With covid going on I think people are getting kind of cranky.
24 June 2021 22:54
Handy and popular local grocer. Prices not always the best. Usually no long waits to enter or to pay. Presidents Choice brands. Convenient if you live in the neighborhood.
20 June 2021 6:30
Usually not too busy in my experience and the red meat they sell is usually of a higher quality than say at Walmart or other supermarkets. They don't sell resealable baking soda containers, only the cardboard box kind.
17 June 2021 16:42
Great grocery store with plenty of options and everything you'll need, including a pharmacy. They have lots of fresh produce, staples and an international aisle for Asian cooking.

Staff are really friendly!
29 May 2021 22:59
For a large grocery store, part of loblaws they have really good customer service. They always call to confirm my PC express order and I could add items to my order if they were not online by phone. So wanted to say thank you for making my experience so much easier and smoother. They go above and beyond.
30 April 2021 4:54
Check out is super slow. You have to bag all items and then they go to next customer in line to even start checking them out. Safety protocol, but still, leads to huge lines. Not great selection overall. I wouldn't recommend if any grocery store is closer to where you live.
23 April 2021 14:13
Its like superstore but a little more expensive you can gather points like superstore but it will take you longer and they don't have specials like superstore.
08 April 2021 4:20
A nice mid sized store, big enough to have good selection and baked goods. Mainly an older clientele, so don't expect self serve or speedy checkouts.
23 February 2021 19:07
The place is fully stocked with the supplies that customers need. When going to pay, the cashiers keep the place as organized and cleaned as possible and they respect the social distancing. The products we find are very affordable, fresh and a good quality I might say.
It's a good place to go for home supplies/grocery shopping.
Strongly recommend.
04 February 2021 16:24
This is the local grocery store closest to my home. Overall it's a great store. Very clean and well organized. I do find the Independent of the President's Choice stores to be the most expensive. No Frills and Superstore have better prices for the same items. But they do have everything you need if you live in the area.

BE ALERT WHEN BUYING MILK!
I have been shopping in this store for a such long time since I moved close by. It was pretty ok before even though their price are a little bit higher than others. However, their milk right now are not very fresh anymore. For the past few months, the milk i bought get bad so quick even though there still 7 days more to the expire days. I have had already three time at least as I noticed. Be alert people when you buy it!
03 January 2021 10:36
Great area. Parking is a bit tight for some spots. Clean but prices are higher than superstore. Good selections
02 December 2020 2:28
I still think independent grocer is pretty overpriced for what it sells. Doesn't do anything to justify it besides being clean.
21 November 2020 18:58
Usually not too busy in my experience and the red meat they sell is usually of a higher quality than say at Walmart or other supermarkets. Decent prices and the lines are usually quick unless it's peak hours.
01 October 2020 19:40
I use to love shopping here a few years ago and I decided to come back after a long time since I had moved. I was so disappointed to say the least. They had advertised their PC toilet paper for sale as the main item on the front page of their flyer, however when I got there, they had none. You would think for having something as the main door crasher there would be piles of it. I even checked the entire store to make sure they stored it in various spots, but it was completely sold out. I never had this issue with other stores, maybe around Christmas or Black Friday. Serious waste of my time, argh.

Almost everything was overpriced or you had to buy more to get a "discounted" price. For example, buy 3 to 4 bags of chips for $7. But if I only wanted one bag of chip, it was something like $3 or more. My plan was just to buy one bag of chip for $1 like I could at other major chains and didn't have to wait for a "sale" like it was advertised today at Independent. It's a shame they are pricing items like this in a time where we are in a pandemic and every dollar counts and making others spend more than they have to. The only maybe decently priced items I could find today was sugary cereal, tubs of gummies, white bread, English muffins, some apples, and banana chips. I will never shop here again, and will drive to the nearest major supermarket to do my shopping. I find it funny that this chain is part of Loblaws but is the priciest out of the bunch, and located in an area that does not cater to high income people.

To the management, price your items at a fair price. There is so much competition out there nowadays. You would save yourself alot of trouble if you just kept your prices competitive for all items at all times so that shoppers would keep coming back instead of shopping here once and be appalled at the price gouging and limited inventory. The saving grace here is maybe 5 or 6 items that are on sale from the weekly flyers that draw in shoppers but you guys don't even have them in stock.

The only people shopping here are probably people that have no choice since there is nothing really around the area unless you had a car to go to the next supermarket. I feel bad for the families and seniors here that only have this as their nearest grocery store and have limited mobility. Maybe this explains the change of ownership in recent years. Figure out your target market and the neighbourhood clientele before deciding to pick a brand as your grocery store.

Also, this grocery store had a weird mix of people here, it just felt kinda grubby and almost 90% of the shoppers here did not wear a mask. I'm not sure if it's mandatory here, but it just didn't feel safe. The checkout lines are also long and it gets in the way while you are shopping. For example, you would be shopping for a can of soup, but in front of those cans of soups are people lining up to go checkout and you are basically asking them to move as you try to get your can of soup in your basket. How is this preventing social distancing if it's happening in almost all the aisles? Some self checkout machines would be nice here, but there are none here.
29 July 2020 5:40
Good prices, however, has limited variety of items. I'm guessing it's due to being a smaller store. When brands come out with holiday flavored foods you're better off going to a larger grocery store to find them.
17 July 2020 20:24
Get rid of David he is a very rude person who doesn’t deserve a job like that when I came in a few days ago he was very rude to me and I couldn’t stand to be in that store anymore so I kept my to my self and I didn’t want to make a scene so I just left and I will never come back until he is gone
16 July 2020 7:48
As a regular customer I would think that during this Pandemic time that mask is mandatory to all customers and staff in the store.it would put everybody's mind at ease that it's followed!
19 June 2020 4:39
Great place to grab groceries. It's quite big inside (around 3/4 the size of superstore). Lots of choice and decent pricing. Really good at maintaining social distancing.
23 May 2020 20:59
Prices are just too high on most everything! When it was Extra Foods it was so much better value for your dollar. I can shop at Safeway and Save On for less with much better variety. The staff are nice enough and fairly helpful. I rarely shop here now and I live very close to this grocery store.
18 May 2020 10:20
Clean and a solid variety of goods! Plus, they have a Chinese take out, Shoe repair, Bakery with sweets (cookies and cakes), European meat store, Fido, and Lotto vender inside!
26 March 2020 22:24
A clean, well laid out space. Wasn't too busy at the time I was there. The staff was helpful. Was able to get in and out in no time.
23 March 2020 5:48
Please note that Pharmacy hours are different from store hours
pharmacy is open Monday to Friday 9am-9pm Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 10am-6pm
14 March 2020 4:29
Prices high, selection low, not what it used to be. Kind staff though.

I have lived in this neighbourhood since 1996. I have seen this mall and grocery store go through many changes. If you asked me to rate this store a few year back I would have enthusiastically raved (as I often did) that it was the most amazing store in Vancouver and how lucky I felt that it was in my neighbourhood. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Now I am very saddened to say that after years of loyalty I have been forced to shop elsewhere. Product selection here is way down, prices are way way up. I acknowledge that times have changed but the Safeway and Save On offer much better prices comperativley and selection. The staff are kind and helpful but they can't control product selection and prices. Often the limited products that are available are sold out. Over the past year I kept trying this store in hopes that it returned to it's former glory but have been disappointed time and time again. Thanks for the "good old days" but it's time we part ways.
01 March 2020 13:38
It happens very frequently that prices are not in the right place and you find out at the cashier if you pay attention of course. When you speak to the customer service and show them the price under the product, instead of an apology for misplacing the price tags, their response implies if we were blind not to look further away for the right price tag. On three occasions all customer service agents were extremely rude and aggressive. Having said that the employees on the floor have always been polite and very helpful. It is just the customer service who is obviously hiring mean unhappy people.
11 February 2020 18:38
The cashiers and stocking staff are great, but the store suffers poor management. Things that are regularly reasonably priced will be marked up by a few dollars and then advertised as being on sale with a higher price than the regular price. Good luck finding a decent loaf of bread for less than $4. If I didn't live directly across the street, I would not return here.
08 January 2020 17:09
Has good selection, items are priced okay and fresh. Clean and spacious and the staff are nice and friendly. I haven't checked if they have a restroom. Price-wise, they aren't far off from other grocery stores, pretty competitive pricing. They do not have self check outs so there's usually a line up. That isn't a bad thing though.
