Its a great pool and all but they are gonna be closed for a month without any compensation if you have a year pass. The little asian lady in the front desk was giving me mad attitude about it when I asked nicely about it. She needs to treat people with respect.
27 September 2023 3:28
Great gym and pool facilities The staff there are very friendly and helpful. There were no delays or "run arounds" when it came time to go over and receive my leisure pass for the year!

Thank you for the support. Definitely recommend this recreation centre to anybody looking to get active. The other people just do their own thing and will say hi to you. Positive atmosphere.

Enjoy giving Aquafit, Cyclefit and Cycle/Yoga classes at MCAL. I love the energy of the participants.

Definitely has to be the best community center of metro Vancouver.
They a senior center, a little cafe, a fitness center, senior center, and pavilion room
Their pool area is huge with a lazy river, large pool for kids, two saunas, cold plunge, hot tub, steam room, lap pool, and even climbing wall in the water. It’s extremely busy but easily the largest and best still. Bring a quarter because you need to to get the locker keys! There are many showers, lockers, and spacious changing rooms.
06 August 2023 14:26
Newish facility with parking lot. Parking lot contains an area just for seniors Monday to Friday but requires a permit. Lots of swimming areas. Changing facilities are universal as well as separated rooms with shower facilities. Locker rentals are 25 cent deposit. It's really a top notch facility. Many swim areas.
26 July 2023 13:46
Very busy.but sound infrastructure for swimming. Certainly better than anything the UK has to offer. The male changing rooms need a more routine clean. The space emanates a strong musky odour, at times. The floors/surfaces generally should be cleaned more often, given footfall and peoples lack of hygienic consideration in a shared space. The management should request immediate footwear removal, on entry. And make available foot baths, if possible.
24 July 2023 13:27
I accompanied my grandson to the swimming school, and during the waiting time, I walked on the outside grounds to pass the time. Very good facility.
14 July 2023 16:27
Please people show some responsibility to this great place, be clean, respect the place follow the etiquettes….
14 July 2023 5:53
A very solid and modern community centre.
Very clean!
For a low cost day-pass, you can go for a work-out in their gym, followed by swimming, bouldering, hot-tub, saunas, and a lazy river if you want.
One of my go-to destinations for a weekend activity with friends.
Staff are friendly.

Just remember to bring a 25c coin for accessing lockers (you will get it back when you leave), and get the 10-visits pass to save some money!
13 July 2023 19:02
This place has so much potential but unfortunately when it gets busy (which is most of the time) the life guards don’t really take charge of the swimming lanes. For example, slow swimmers or even water joggers will often clog up the medium lane regardless of how many people are in the slow/leisure lanes and it quickly becomes untenable. I really wish this centre was more on top of this because most everything else is fantastic but for lane swimmers it’s an absolutely fatal flaw.
06 February 2023 12:31
Overall clean and functional equipment however it is almost impossible to weight lift without waiting for half the workout. This is due to an absurd amount of treadmills and bikes that are never being used which take up half the gym space, aswell as a lack of weightlifting equipment which is always in high demand.

Unimpressed with the attitude of the long blondish hair lady this afternoon and the other person with her who is wearing glasses (the one that lets people inside the entrance to open). I arrived there with my daughter at 1: 15 pm as i want her to be ready early for her 1: 30 watersafe course. The male employee told us to go to the cafe area where the meeting room is. We waited for 10 mins and good thing we saw her classmate. They were told to enter where we normally enter during our swimming days. When I asked this long blondish hair middle aged lady, she was extremely rude and raised her voice saying "you were already told about that, get in! Get in! Get in! ". She did not even listen to me when I said the male frontdesk employee gave us the wrong direction. She dismissed it and it was extremely embarrasing to be yelled at infront of strangers! How dare she! I am soft spoken and work at a customer service environment. No excises for your damn behavior! Even that he/she lady who is in charged of pressing the button! So rude of your 2 employees! Never experienced this before here in minoru!
21 December 2022 23:14
Been going to the gym here for over a year.only thing I would pick out is the lack of equipment, otherwise very spacious and clean.
15 November 2022 14:20
Great facility but seems cold pool is closed more often than not. Calling in ahead is ineffective as they will say it’s open and it will be closed by the time you arrive. Tough when the front desk and lifeguards seem to have their hands tied in terms of making any changes or even giving you a refund when it’s the only thing you come for.
31 October 2022 8:30
I have been seeing Kingston at Vitality as my kinesiologist for almost a year now and it has been amazing! He listens to every pain or concern I have every time with my body and adjusts each workout to suit what is best for me. The Minoru location is very clean and there is so much more equipment for us to work with!
19 October 2022 20:12
Clean and well kept pool area, with many options, roomy sauna, steam room, hottub, even a cold plung. And of course the large pools. Fitness area is well staffed and gives a huge selection of options for training.
01 October 2022 16:30
$80 millions cost for a medicore built is a true waste of taxpayer money! There is little sitting area that is miles away for guardians to view their kids learning.
30 September 2022 17:09
Couldn’t even enjoy myself at this swimming pool because the lifeguards are so strict! Too many unnecessary rules with the way you use floaters and where you can and can’t swim which is so ridiculous and annoying! Especially the tall blonde white guy with the glasses he was being a male Karen. No freedom at this place at all! Never coming back.
13 September 2022 15:05
I always used to come here with my father, it was really fun. But recently I noticed every time it hits 9: 00pm at night, even though there is still 1 hour until it closes they try to rush and keep announcing for you to leave if you take a long time to get out. I totally understand that, but for them to keep announcing is a little bit strange in my opinion
04 September 2022 7:47
Aside from not being super clean, which is understandable given the volume of people, great facility
28 August 2022 13:50
Could be a lot better.
- Not enough lockers in the gym area.
- Nearly all of the showers are broken.
- The changeroom doors are cheap / installed poorly. They don't close or lock without excessive force.
- Some changerooms' lights will turn off randomly, leaving you in the dark which is dangerous for people with impaired vision.
- Slippery tile floors.
- Most of the pools are reserved for lane swimming. For the first half of the day, it is exclusively lane swimming. Nowhere to swim free like a fish.
24 August 2022 10:45
This is a brand new facility that offers a large gym, a pool with hot tubs, a cold plunge, steam room, 2 saunas a 1m diving board and a slide that drops you about 1.5m. If you aren't too far, it's worth a visit.
16 July 2022 3:05
I love the cleanliness and atmosphere of the Minoru Centre. The centre has an amazing gym upstairs, and below the floor contains tremendous pools with different levels; (heated pool for relaxation, mid section has a whirlpool-like design with a twin slide included, and the far right has larger pools for amateur and professional swimmers). Highly recommended.
18 June 2022 5:15
Even though the opening was delayed several times over the years, the facilities are truly incredible and worth the wait. The aquatic centre is miles better than the old one that was close to the library. Giant hot tubs and plenty of swimming lanes, as well as a sauna and cold tub. Very impressed by the quality of this active centre, and would recommend to others.
17 June 2022 1:15
The new centre is so nice! It's around $8 for a drop in for thr gym and swimming no time limits. Staff is helpful and informative. The lockers are 0.25 and you get your quarter back when you are done. Swimming lanes are nice and big (early weekday mornings) a d for weekends they change it up a bit making more room for leisure swimming and hanging around (sat/sun) it gets busy in weekends around 12-2 but nothing too crazy from what I have seen! Love coming here to swim and workout before work!
03 June 2022 7:48
Not the most gym equipment. Missing what I would say are some vital machines for some muscle groups.

But the best place for a gym and swim. With the 3 different kinds of saunas, ice plunge and private showers.

It is my favorite place.
20 May 2022 6:51
There is less machine for fitness and a lot of machine for cardio and unfortunately the quality of these machines are really not god and rust, I’m really disappointed!
18 May 2022 22:43
Should have given at least 3.5 stars. I like it clean, tidy and quiet plus a team of friendly staff all with smiling face. Portion of lunch is just good for elderly people, no waste.
17 May 2022 3:25
Great family venue on rainy days.
Hot tubs, Lazy river, slides, large pools, wading pools for toddlers with Pool toys, life jackets avail
12 May 2022 9:22
The hot water is lukewarm. The guards continue to point out. The hot spring is the same 1m‍, but one of the two places says that children cannot enter. Though it was new. Not as clean as I thought. No fun because there is only one slide. This is not funny anymore.
30 April 2022 13:42
Nice and clean facilities, staffs are patient and helpful. Gym is spacious so keep social distance from rest people, all the machines are pretty New too. The pool has different temperatures, play Ares, slides and saunas. So relaxing! Suggest you go off hour time, It's always packed after dinner especially the pools, Besides they don't check vaccines at the pool, so don't go if you are worried.
26 April 2022 2:59
Incredible facility - spacious and clean. My neighborhood pool (Hillcrest, soon to close for 1 month) has extremely narrow swim lanes, so it's uncomfortable passing others. The lanes here are much much wider.

Props to whoever the DJ at the pool is! Makes my swims very enjoyable.
24 April 2022 10:26
Yes, pool is lovely. The attendants and clerks and lifeguards are great and very helpful. Good pool to play in but not good for serious laps or excersise. But! It's very noisy and pools are small. It's very hard for older people to get out of some of the pools. Not enough stairs. The change rooms are a confusing maze. The showers are so weak it takes too long to rinse soap out of my long hair. The shower spigot is too, too close to the wall to get hair completely wet or rinsed. There is no place to sit while you change in the group area. (some chairs but no bench) in private showers, clothes get wet as the clothes hangers are on the door that is in the shower area. Many hand held shower heads do not adjust for height as they are broken. Areas are very clean and freshly kept. Music is not to my taste and way too loud for conversation. I had hoped for a standard sized pool. Not the short cramped lanes that are there. The old pool had a way better set up, with 2 separate areas. Even the group showers were easier and better.
17 April 2022 8:24
A great new facility for a day of family fun. Not to mention it has very open and warm spaces for seniors to hangout.
30 March 2022 3:13
Said to be very crowded. But not so during my several visit around noon. Perhaps people left for lunch. Nice facility for leisure swimmers and family. Perhaps not quite suitable for swimmers looking for serious training. Various changing rooms to meet different needs. Ample parking
19 March 2022 17:05
Beautiful, nice, clean very modern facilities. Kids love all the warm water and heights of water are very safe for them. Universal change rooms are perfect nice and close. Just bring 25cents for lockers of all sizes is a great deal. Try find a time of day with less people and it's a great private spa vibe.
11 February 2022 3:40
Outstanding facility, the cold dip is a fantastic feature. Two saunas, one for talking and one ‘quiet’. 10/10
19 January 2022 15:45
The best place to spend some quality time with friends or family. The pool is perfect for kids and for adults. Love spending time here and the best is the sauna and the hot tub. Love it here.
25 August 2021 15:25
Super clean and modern swimming pool. Probably helps that this place is pretty new as of 2021. The change rooms and shower stations are really nice and accessible. And they have many lockers for you to store your stuff (bring a quarter though)

The pool is great for kids and families. They have a family hot tub, water slides, diving boards, and rock climbing. There isn’t anyone monitoring these stations so make sure it’s clear before going down the slide or other stations.

They also have a regular hot tub, polar tub, steam room, and sauna. As well as lots of lanes to swim in.
05 August 2021 22:06
Love the set up of this place, especially the private shower changerooms for after and all the kids friendly pools, slides etc.
03 July 2021 2:21
Located in Minoru Centre for Active Living. Prebooking and payment required on MyRichmond website. Limited to 1.25 hours session. 25¢ coin required to use locker. Has water slides, rock climbing wall, swimming lanes, shallow pools. Outdoor parking, some are limited for senior use only.
15 June 2021 11:31
Its convenience to get there
however its dirty
if you have a car, go to the swimming pool which located on stevenston no. 5 rd.
14 June 2021 10:57
The new aquatic center is only allowing a very limited number of people for 75 minute visits. If you want to go at peak times, especially on the weekend, you have to book when it comes open, which is Monday morning 2 weeks in advance.
As a family with youngish children, the new pool is worth the wait Our older two (7 & 10 years) floated in the lazy river, slid down the mini water slide, and chased each other through the shallows. My youngest (5 years) has not had lessons and is still fearful, but was able to wade in the water, play in the infant area, and just generally get comfortable being in the pool.
There is also a climbing wall, a diving board, and an obstacle course that looked like fun for older folks. I am hoping at some point to be able to try those out, once we have more than a 75 minute limit.
17 March 2021 19:01
An excellent experience today. I have no previous covid swimming experience, but have to say that the program made up to accommodate swimming during covid times appeared really good, to me. More than that, the attitude of the team of supervisor and lifeguards was remarkably good. This being a new facility that we had never been to before we had some questions. In all cases everyone in our family was helped with a knowledgeable smiling answer. Congratulations to whomever fostered this attitude in this team.
10 March 2021 9:31
Absolutely unpleasant and terrible reception lady named Liam (sp?). Was confrontational and accusational when asked simple questions in regards to scheduling a time for the pool. The website was not working for online booking so we went in person to inquire. Lady, if you hate your job or hate interacting with the general public I suggest you find something else to do.
27 December 2020 10:14
So glad that Minoru center active living opened on September 21st 2020 and the gym opened in August. It is such a clean place to do fun activities there.the staff are very friendly too. If you are interested in learning Arabic and English language lessons, check my you tube channel under Myra el Masraya.
23 April 2020 4:47
So crowded, you can hardly find any parking spots.but I have to say staff are very nice & helpful
24 January 2020 6:45
Terrible place for kids, lots elders and angry middle age men swimming at kids pool instead adult pool.
04 January 2020 8:44
Older building and facility but still quite good. Didn’t realize that it was two sided until after when I was waiting in the lobby. Wish I would have realized there was hot tubs first visit.
15 August 2019 2:46
I love this place. It is my favourite aquatic facility in Richmond. Staff are friendly, especially the lifeguards, and the facility itself, while quite dated (almost 50 years old I think?) is kept in great shape and is pretty clean. It is also usually very quiet once the pool is open for public use, and the Centennial pool is a great place for the whole family. Parents can watch from the hot tubs as their kids jump off the diving board. I also love the location. It is very central (unlike Watermania) and easy to get to.
05 August 2019 16:45
Old and very run down. Seniors are blocking one side of the training pool standing in the
water massaging.
16 July 2019 0:47
Impatient reception lady ever! It’s such a shame the government paying our tax money to someone with such bad service attitude.
21 May 2019 18:44
Run down, shower rooms are gross. Pool may give you a bit of a rash. Not for anyone with sensitive skin. But it's the only one in Richmond center area since the new pool is not open yet. If you drive, go to watermania.
12 October 2018 3:11
There are 2 swimming pools, one for the younger students and an adult pool with 2 hot tubs. They offer aqua exercises daily and it is not necessary to pre register to be in a class. You can buy drop in tickets to use the pool or join the exercises. Don’t forget to bring your towels and 25 cents if you want to use the locker for your valuables. The instructors for the 9: 00-10: 00 am class are good and motivating. The music they play are just ok, sometimes the sound system can be off. The lady at the counter (her name is Lei) is nice and very pleasant. She greets every guests and welcomes with enthusiasm. Her friendly gesture is an encouragement to look forward to a brighter day.
14 September 2018 22:26
If you have kids, avoid this place.
If you don't, just be prepared to be bored.

This place exhibits:

- Dirty changing rooms that are rarely cleaned
- Boring swimming pool that isn't very kid friendly
- Nothing for kids to do, pool is too deep for any little kids to have fun swimming and there are no activities for them

The changing rooms always have litter, hair, foreign objects etc.on the floor. It seemed like it was rarely cleaned. Every time we came here, we were always greeted by dirty change rooms. Honestly, I would rather change in a portable toilet.

Swimming pool is just boring. There are no water slides that are "fun", pool is too deep for any little kids to enjoy, and it just isn't kid friendly because there is literally no kid play area in the pool, unlike most other places. However, this place is an option if you like lane swimming all day.

I don’t usually take time to write these reviews, but I think this is something that requires to be attended to. I love the front desk service, as they are ready to greet with a friendly smile. Instructors are nice when my children go in for my swimming lessons and are very nice and supportive of them. However today, things didn’t go as our weekly ritual. The front desk lady working today (Thursday closing shift at 10pm) was extremely rude to me while I was asking her a question. Everything is usually exceptional and I’m writing this because I hope there will be more consideration put in for who will be hired in the future. I still love this place and think it’s great for my children, but this service this evening was horrible, making my experience a one star. Thank you for reading my review and it’s nothing but constructive criticism for the future.
