I don’t generally leave reviews either, but I had some work done on my gas tank, the price was more than they quoted & when I got home I noticed a nasty scrape on the very front lower part of the tank. They seemed very unprofessional & I decided not to return. Because it seemed futile to do so. It was a slap in the face to change more for something that was damaged by them. It’s not a small scape either! I think I just wanted to get out of there & didn’t really look at it, I figured they would deny & say it was already there. You really would have to drop it on something to cause the damage. I’ll post a pic later!

I was quoted 100$ to change both front and rear tires if i bring the rims.
When I dropped them off the technician made comments on the fact that I was wearing a mask.
At the pick up I was wearing a mask as well and the same mechanic made even a worse comment stating that I look like Marco Simoncelli, an Italian moto GP racer that passed away on the track and whose nickname was “Sic”.
At the end I was charged 150$ and my spare inner tubes were retuned without the stem valves.
I will take my business somewhere where customers and dead people are respected.

Sorry for trying to give you money sir! You'll no longer have to worry as I won't return and will recommend others don't as well.

1978 Suzuki GS750

I've had my vintage bike serviced at Modern Motorcycling for about 6 years now. Aaron and his team absolutely know their stuff. As with all shops dealing with seasonal workload my experiences with them have varied, most due exactly to that fact and sheer demand, but quality and price-wise both have remained respectably great. When I say 'varied' I don't mean good or bad, per se. I've had many great experiences with them, and I've had a few experiences that could have been easier but got there in the end and were overall good. I give these guys 5-stars overall. Now the details:

Service-wise they have always, always done a great job for me. Zack really loves bikes (especially of the Suzuki flavour) and really does a fantastic job with everything from overall safety/full inspection, to annual maintenance/checks right through to suggestions on upgrades and betterment. All of which I've engaged him with and have never been happier. He even suggested and provided a new master brake cylinder and lever, all of which he installed in time, super professionally, and to quote. Whenever I've had something that doesn't seem quite right, he bends over backwards to make it right, even if I may be overthinking things or it's an obvious or simple fix right through to something that can be dialled in better after a few km's. Take your bike to MM and be happy when Zack is working on it. Keep on doing what you're doing Zack, legend my dude.

Yes the team are some characters (I personally appreciate that - some my not). People here have complained about some of them, but I feel most of those complaints aren't really accurate or warranted overall. Building rapport with your mechanic is part of the process IMHO, and pondering on just how many issues and problems they are faced with from paying customers on a daily basis (purely mechanical issues), I can see how that could filter through to the uninitiated through initial conversations or service engagement. Both Aaron and his old man upstairs always sort me out with what I need, provide amazing recommendations, options, suggestions at great prices and I always have a laugh and hear a story through the process. Furthermore, they do bend over backwards to help you when you need it. I was caught out of the area with a broken accelerator cable at close to 6pm on a Saturday, and after calling Aaron who was just closing up the shop he offered to come and pick my bike up that night, taking it back to the shop and they had it up and running by the next business day. Yes I paid for the tow. Yes I was happy to.to get my bike off the street and into the hands of their team who I trust. On the flip-side, yes I have had a couple of things happen - but when they do, they are sorted out 100% and in general I'm made to feel well looked after and confident in the results.

Great work Aaron and the entire team! Zack you da man, absolutely amazing 5-start work all around. Spiro you do killer amazing work, my old pitted forks are practically brand new due to your artisan workmanship. I've always left Modern Motorcycling with a road-safe, well-looked after bike, all with a smile on my face and confidence in my ride. Thank you, guys.

Deposit two sets of tires from last year, still not arrive? I think my tires went to MARS and back to earth and went up there again and maybe now is coming back to earth?

A great store on commercial to find Motorcycle gear if you can not find an item in your size Aaron and the staff can work on getting you outfitted for this cooler and damp motorcycle season with an ensemble package that is very reasonably priced. I have bought motorcycle shoes from them before and decided to stop in again great choice.

Bought a set of used tires back in end of September. Aaron told me that he has a good set of used tires (Michelin Power RS) that still had 70% treads left. So I decided to have my old tires changed out to find out from GA Checkpoint that one of my tires were actually plugged, and my tires were actually flat in the centre. At no point in our conversation or even on the my receipt that says my tires had these issues. If you don't bring them up, I'd assume everything else is what you would expect from only normal wear and tear? Plus, no dealership would even plug a motorcycle tire for safety reasons. I called Aaron after what I found out at GA to discuss about this, and he insisted that the tires are safe, and that the centre wear was due to riding in a straight line over an extended period of time. Are you serious? From what GA told me, I think "over inflated, and then put back into normal pressure" seems a lot more probable. Basically Aaron sold me a set of tires that had abnormal wear and tear PLUS it's plugged lol. Whether it's "safe" or not may be up for debate, but the fact that I was told about this information during my purchase? That doesn't seem very transparent. Not to mention I already told these guys I'm trying to sell the bike. Doesn't look like I'm selling it for any higher price than if I kept my old tires huh? I might as well have changed for brand new tires than completely wasting $271 dollars for the exact same thing that I swapped out lol.complete waste of money. I only came to this place due to the past reviews and my friend's recommendation, too bad it had to turn out like this.

Once again, Modern Motorcycling proves their knowledge and cost transparency to me.
I needed a lot of work done on my bike, and Zach was excellent at explaining it to me as well as explaining which work items should be prioritized. Their pricing is by far the best that I have encountered so far for equipment, parts, and services.
Zach is a beauty who just loves motorcycles and will help anyone with service, bike buying, and riding route recommendations.
Give them a go for no nonsense, transparent service.

Best Experience Ever!
I took my bike to a local shop and had no codes when the bike when in, came back to me with a FI light. They told me its due to the bigger injectors they put in. Hmmm. I rode to Modern and they fixed it with in 10 minutes. Lesson. Take it to a authorized shop save you money and most important TIME, Something we cannot get back!

Not one to give a bad review but in this case I think it's needed. Recently bought a set of tires for my bike & got clutch cable adjusted & rear pads. Price I payed for the work was over priced. Price for the tires was ok but for labor / time to do it was ridiculous. I could say more but I won't! Lesson learned. Be clear in the billing & shop around in other motorcycle shops.

I'm from the states & on a trip up to Canada, I ran over a box of nails and ended up with a punctured tire & severed front brake line, which left me stranded in Canada. I brought it in when they opened on Tuesday and they got me out only a few hours later with a new set of tires and a replaced brake line, which none of the other shops had available.

I especially have to give a shout out to Zack, he hooked it up big time. He's a great mechanic and seems like a really cool dude. Overall, I have to say that Modern Motorcycling is an amazing shop I'd be a regular at if it wasn't 7 hours away.

Aaron and Russ easily made shopping there the best part I've been on and off bikes for a decade now but this was my first time shopping solo for myself on a new bike, and both guys made sure I had the right fit and understood why I needed things to fit how they fit.

If you're new to riding, or don't have knowledgeable friends to go to for advice, THIS is the place you want to go to make sure you're road ready.

Not what it used to be. Was promised a tire would arrive before a trip. I called two days after it was “guaranteed” to arrive (as promised by the young gentlemen working the front counter) and got the same rude “maybe later today” answer.

I went into the shop 5 days after only to be told by the owner there’s no way it would be in until at least another week and that the guaranteed arrival date was not even a possibility.

I get freight times are unpredictable, however please get all your staff on the same page. I would have gladly ordered the tire from a different shop if it was in fact not possible to get to your store in time.

Very mislead by your staff and the customer service was non existent.

I scrambled to get replacement the morning of my trip due to your false timelines. Place isn’t what it used to be.

Excellent service. Came in to get some new gear as I am going to start riding soon. They gave me a great deal on all of my stuff. Make sure to go in and ask about their combo deals. Highly recommended!

Woke up one morning and felt i forgot to write a review. Kind of mixed feelings about this place.
Pros: they have nice inventory, open some holidays and fair prices.
Cons: impatient/rude salesman, I was buying a jacket one time and asking a bunch of questions then he raised his voice at me and I heard him saying curse words as he walked away. Sure he knows his stuff but that's not a good way to treat a customer. Other people were nice though

Heard about this store, decided to finally check it out. Great inventory, but the sales staff was absolutely INFERIOR to what you would expect at a "modern" motorcycling store in Vancouver, BC. I was shocked to hear the sales person ask me keep hurrying me by saying things like: "Are you burning the daylight? " and "dont wait for your turn, go and call for the manager" when I was waiting in line and my 3 year old was sleeping in the stroller. "Are you burning the daylight? " - I have been blessed with the opportunity to offer gymnastics programs to students throughout the Vancouver School Board apart from our regular Kitsilano Gymnastics Club and finally on my day off with my kiddo a sales person is being pushy and outta line? No, thank you.

Awesome staff! Friendly and patient. Got a lot of help choosing my first gear and got an excellent combo deal.

Just bought an Alpine star jacket & chain maintenance kit here. Aaron was very helpful. Great customer service; he is very helpful. If you want to save some $bucks. Come here first before buying gears somewhere else. I should have come here first before buying the other gears online. Would definitely come back.

Guys don't not up to standard to repair or fix any bike.
I went to replace my ktm. 500 exc rear wheel bearing
End up costing me 3.5 hrs labor to remove the bearing.
No call to ask if I want to get a new wheel for 450.

Worest of all
The rear wheel is not tighten. The only nut is not tighten. I ride from Vancouver to West Vancouver n the nut is almost fallen out. I need to tighten it with my hand n every 5 10 min ride retighten by hand.

I'm lucky I found out of nay get into a major addicent

You want great service, this is the place to go. All the staff actually care about their customer, and the bike they work on. They make sure you get what you need and you feel good about it too. There is always hidden discounts and no extra charges (always good surprises).

I took my bike in for tuneup and service, Zak worked on the bike and did an awesome job, next day I had an unrelated issue with my bike he showed up at my house on a Sunday to make sure my bike is ready for my exam the next morning. That's going above and beyond!

Small-ish shop so not a huge inventory on hand but always willing to order something for you to try on, and prices are worth the wait if your arent in a huge rush.

SV650 3rd Gen

For me, personally, the place to do maintenance compared to Dealership places that CAN skin you alive.

I have been upsold twice on suspension and a master cylinder.
Suspension was a great success (HyperPro box set from Europe).
Master cylinder - will revert back to the stock one as the aftermarket one is causing issues. Receiving full refund on the cylinder itself.

Zak is a great guy and very friendly. Wen out of his way >1 times to help me outside of work hours. The rest of the gang have only been good to me too. Of course experiences may vary, so that's my just 2 cents.

Aaron and the team are quality people, selling quality parts. The staff are very helpful and provide a family atmosphere. Aaron would always work to give the best deals. I’ve been there twice to buy gears and parts, and I won’t be surprise if I’m back for a third time!

Best Bike shop I have ever stepped into. I asked for a part and the staff helped me diagnose the problem with my bike, he did not sell me the wrong part. They also have great prices and awesome deals.

Husband bought a helmet and gloves from Modern Motorcycling Ltd for his new bike. He wanted me to go buy basic accessories so that I would be comfortable riding at the back. Aaron was patient in selecting a proper helmet for me as I am petite. The third try was a charm! I also bought a garment top and a pair of gloves. Aaron offered me a combo price that I couldn't say no:) I was surprised they carry items that would fit 'little persons' like me, and was extremely happy with the price. Will definitely go back!

I’ve been to this store twice and called 3 times over the past year and every time the service is just horrendous. They have good prices but it’s too the point where the service is so bad I rather just pay the extra money. They don’t listen make assumptions and are rude and monotone. Won’t be back or recommend it to any of my friends

Came by when they had just closed up to get some shocks off to get some fork seals done and they were ready by the next day! Great customer service and friendly guys!

My tires were installed here and Zak asked for a review. I don't normally give reviews but it was a pleasant experience I'd like to share. He took the time to walk over the bike with me when I went to go pick it up. I appreciate the personal touch. He gave advice on possible improvements to it but wasn't pushy about it. He is friendly and easy to talk to.

The attitude of this shop is terrible. They think they are some kind of bike gods. After visiting their location several times over the last few years we have had enough.

If I was you I would only go there if it was an emergency and you needed something short notice for a ride.

Been getting great service from these guys for at least a decade now. I live in the area and it's so nice to be able to drop a bike off and walk home - makes going for servicing easily. I've had a lot of work done to my KLR650 over the years, and recently had some carb work done - Zak really made my bike into a beast! They may be really busy, but they will get the work done, and done well.

Was recommended to visit here by a friend. Glad I visited. I was able to get a helmet/riding sneakers/& summer jacket with spine/shoulder/elbow padding for a reasonable price. Was super happy the staff was knowledgeable & acknowledged me with 10 seconds of arrival at the location. The phone to the sales wasn’t working but call the shop line- over all good experience & lots of good stuff!

I was walking aimlessly in my riding gear near Commercial Dr, sniffing lilacs, smiling at babies and looking suspicious, ready for another hour of the same, when a call came in: “Michelle, your bike is ready! ” Ohhhh. What a QUICK Spring Maintenance service! Thank you, guys! Aaron explained each item on the check list in detail and charged a fair price. Then I asked Zak additional questions about what he did and what I should do, Zak who added a superb cosmetic touch to the “sinister” look of my black bike. Which was called “a good bike”, and I proudly rode back home with total peace of mind, knowing that my life was in good hands. Existence is complicated enough without having to worry at each intersection if the bike is safe or not. I totally recommend Zak and Modern Motorcycling!

I've been riding for over 50 years and have owned numerous bikes, the place is great! All the negative reviews. Take your zero cc scooter, apps and your soy no foam decaf matcha tea latte and go to a shop where lengthy idle conversation with no intent to spend money is encouraged.

Modern Motorcycling has been the only shop I've been to, I live within the area and I wanted to support local. Today I brought in my motorcycle for a 12k service and Zak, the head technician took care of everything that I requested within less than 2 hours; he even gave me a ride from my home to the shop to pick up my bike before the snow settled. Very stand up individual, thank you kindly for service. Would highly recommend Zak for your motorcycle needs! Amazing driving skills by the way Zak, loved seeing you rip the streets. I just bought a helmet, jacket, gloves and shoes from them as I just signed up for Pacific Riding School.

For a novice like me, they were patient, showed me all their offerings, telling me the pros and cons, letting me try on and didnt pressure me into anything.

Modern is THE place to go for gear! Prices are great and everyone is super nice and helpful! I love going there because it feels like I'm visiting friends + getting lots of help picking things out or if I need to order things in, that's super fast as well.

I showed up on the last nice day this year with a hole in my babies front sock. They were closed bit still got me sorted out. I really do love this place.

Left an e-mail asking about oil change quotes. No reply. Called into the sales number and someone answered. I asked for quote on oil change service and directed me to service. I asked if service is working tomorrow as he mentioned they are off today and he gave the time for service hours.

Here comes the issue:
I was going to ask if there is a different line for service number I could call tomorrow but was promptly cut off with a very impatient attitude. "We are OFF today. THERE IS NOBODY WORKING TODAY! IT IS C-O-V-I-D HOURS and HAS BEEN COVID HOURS WITH SIGNS ON THE DOOR FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS! "

Dont get me wrong man, I love to support locals, but given an attitude like that.sorry, I will take my business else where and refer all my referral some where else. This is not the first time I had issues with this store. I like many people have to work during COVID and do not have the luxury to cruise around and go read a sign on your door! Also why don't you update your website hours of operation which makes it easier for many other people before you rudely cut off what I was going ask?

Terrible experience. The guy thinks he's the only motorcycle shop in the lower mainland. I called to ask him which Yoshimura exhaust works for my bike specifically and he said "i don't know. I'm not going to pick your shoes for you am I? " Then continued to name a few exhausts that MIGHT work. Why would i orser an exhaust that MIGHT work. Horrible service. I would not recommend going to this shop to anyone unless you enjoy being treated like garbage.

Modern has been a staple of Commercial Drive for years.
I think they know they are the only ones there selling motorsports and bikes. Which can be a deficiency because they tend to be more arrogant with their sales and helping customers.

Still, I'm able to find what I need from here. It is worth coming here but also keep in mind the other options on Grandview

Great shop, got new tires and had my chain and rear sprocket replaced here on my xr650l.
I'm not a very mechanical inclined person at all,
Recently when I had my bike services Aaron also explain that my clutch had barely any free play, and they fixed that as well,

The COMBO is real! Just by chance I ran into Aaron from Modern Motorcycling at the Motorcycle Show in Abbotsford this year while I was looking for a new helmet. He asked me to come see him at the shop to see if he could figure out a gear combo for me and save some cash. I am glad I did! He set me up with a gear package (Arai helmet, Alpinestars boots+pants+jacket, gloves) that probably saved me close to $1000 compared to ordering the same stuff online. Aaron wasn't pushy at all and was really interested in getting me into good gear that worked for me. I will definitely be using Modern again in the future for my gear needs.

Modern motorcycle is the best motorcycle shop I have ever been to.
I went in to buy a a list of upgrades Levers Yoshamura tail tidy, exhaust, frame sliders, spools, tank protector and a pair of riding pants and a jacket and the discount he gave me for all the stuff I bought was nothing short of amazing.
I am however sad that I didn’t know about these guys until my son told me about them in December 2019, I wish I had purchased my helmet and riding boots from them as well.
I also wish that Suzuki Canada had not pulled there dealerships because I just bought a brand new GSX S1000FZA and I would have bought the new bike from them as well.
This shop will have all of my business as long as they are still doing business and as long as I continue to ride.

If you’re looking to save money and nab some quality gear, look no further than these guys. They’ll put together package deals for you that almost seem unbelievable, but they’re real. The staff are also super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Some of the other reviews mentioned that it gets busy and one can end up waiting a while for service. I went on a couple of weekday afternoons and it was nice and quiet, so you’ll probably have better luck with those rather than going during a weekend. Even then, their deals are insane and it’s understandable that the place would be packed. All in all, I loved it and can’t wait to get my next gear from there. Thanks guys!

I like Modern. I have a lot of my gear from them and although they say they are Suzuki, I just bought filters for BMW there. They will often price match online shops and have been great for gear and tyres.

Been meaning to write a review for years. Everyone who works there are very knowledgeable and the prices and quality is great. The only things is sometimes you can wait a long time to get served but it's normally always because they are explaining products in depth to customers, so not their fault.

Charged me $5 for a random helmet bolt from a bin of odds and ends after I spent over $300 on heated grips awhile back. The "deals". The 3 prices the sales guys pitch, laughable. Quit acting like I'm getting the deal of the century. Go to another shop is my advice. I'd rather drive to 200th then deal with this shop.

I've been avoiding this place for nearly two decades after I had a bad experience: they effed up my motorcycle and then basically told me to get lost when I asked them to make it right.
But several people have told me they're better now so I gave them another try today - went to buy gloves and boots.
Seem like good guys who actually want to be helpful. Prices are good. Selection is good especially considering how little space they have to work with.
Might be willing to trust them for service again now. We'll see.

Great shop, fast service, and with lots of new and used parts upstairs if you need an odd bit for your old bike. They can also order in almost any part you need and get you a great price!
Highly recommended for motorcycle apparel, my wife wanted new riding boots and needed a pair with enough heel to allow her to shift, yet also to reach the ground flat-footed. They brought in several different pairs until they found exactly the pair she was happy with.
Currently they are working on my K1300GT front wheel bearings - I trust these folks to do the job right!

Cheap prices are not worth the horrible customer service. Wouldn't tell me a price on an item, kept saying cheapest I'll ever find guaranteed and to call back next week. Ended up finding it at another store $30 cheaper and way better customer service.

Really nice staffs, are willing to help you out. Sadly, we just can't find my size (i really have small size for boots)
