Mr A's Patio Restaurant

Our third year here for Christmas lunch/dinner buffet. Not a huge selection of food but it’s enough for a satisfying meal. Price is great ($23 per adult for lunch). I would consider coming during the year for their other buffets offered.

Dessert, Salads, soup were ok. But.the mains were not well done. Leftovers from previous dinners (?) were probably used (that's ok) but the Turkey (and stuffing) was small pieces and although served with sauce was tough and dried out. The beef in the Beef curry probably came from leftover roast beef. Tasted ok but needed further cooking to soften the meat. Salmon in sauce was also tough. We had to ask for new drinking glasses as the ones on the table were not properly cleaned. One of the glass still had some orange pulp on it. About $23/person. Not expensive but would've been more enjoyable if the food were cooked better.

Had the lunch buffet and honestly I make much better food at home for the same price point if not less. Everything tasted like it came from a package or a can. And to charge $5 more per plate for the Christmas special is Ludacris! Honestly thought it was a Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares episode with hidden cameras. Will NEVER go back.

Bday brunch attended by 6 adults. Excellent smorgasbord with varied and tasty main course dishes and salads. Dessert offers were also plentyfull and delicious. Service was top notch. Go and enjoy their delicious smorgasbord.

Unfortunately, although I believe our server was doing the best she could, she gave the appearance of being overwhelmed. We were a party of 12 that visited for the lunch buffet on a Wednesday. Our drinks were slow and our server was smiling but curt, appearing to have responsibility for the whole restaurant. I would suggest a management issue, maybe unable to have all of the necessary staff, just as many other businesses right now. The food was good. Selection and freshness very nice. We will come again, just not as a big group.

Just the worst experience here for Easter Sunday buffet. The food for the price is terrible, not many choices. Cold cut meats and cheese isn't something you need on a dinner buffet. Completely under staffed, drinks finally arrived AFTER we are the food. The waitress dropped half the drinks on the floor but that's not her fault just not enough to help out. Do not waste your money here.

Went for the Sunday night buffet. Very few options.the meat was so dry like it was reheated from the previous day. No vegetarian options besides salad and rice. The dessert table consisted of approximately 9 plates with assorted squares and 1 pie. The plates were emptied and not refilled. Even after an hour. Will not be going back

Great Sunday brunch with friends. Enjoyed the fresh, hot breakfast and lunch choices. Large variety of salads and cold cuts and fresh fruit to choose from. Made to order omelette and waffle station. Friendly, attentive server.

Today (March 18th) I went to book the 70th birthday party for my mom for Sunday 9th April. I did not know they have a special reservation for Easter weekend and I was declined as the reservation window is not open until March 27th. I discovered this after driving 35 KM. This is such a special occasion and I wanted to make sure I talk to them in person and have special arrangement to celebrate this landmark event. Not only I was declined but what really made me unhappy when I heard "we are too busy", "we can't take special requests", "we can't guarantee seating arrangement " - these are the very unusual tone for hospitality industry. All I can say, you lost my business. I never felt so much humiliation when I was walking down the stairs through the exit. Good luck with your business Mr. A. I will never eat at your place.

The place is nice and it's great for family events and gatherings. But the food seems to be the same. Nothing really new with the food they serve. Hopefully they can make a new menu to serve the many people who come and spend time with family and friends.

Didn't overly like the prime rib buffet. Food just ok. The brunch on Sundays is much better.

Lunch buffet on Saturday. Ok tasting food, but hot foods were way too greasy/fatty? I hate it when fat is added to food excessively without adding to the flavor. There weren’t that many food options but for the price, it is very decent. There was stewed lamb (tasty but very fatty), baked salmon in creamy sauce (again greasy/fatty which is just too bad for a baked salmon) rice pilaf (too much added oil), a penne pasta (very fatty), hoisin chicken, roasted potatoes which was way too greasy and not even roasted well. For foods that’s not fried, I am not sure why there is need to add that oil. The lentil soup was great, tasty and wholesome, and the only hot good not laden with fat. There were warm plain bread rolls, a life saver for me.

Cold food consists of a salad bar - romaine, leaf lettuce, your hardier veggies and a variety of dressing and toppings to customize which is nice, bean salad, cold noodle salad, coleslaw, asian style salads, devil eggs were nice to see but too bad they were bland.

Dessert bar - cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, pumpkin pie, Nanaimo bar, brownies, a couple other types of cakes/ mousse cakes. The cheesecake and chocolate mousse were ok, others were too sweet.

After eating the meal, we felt full and bloated but malnourished and unsatisfied as the food was just too greasy and there were not enough quality protein and starchy dishes. I also ended up eating 3 plain bread rolls instead of the rice or pasta to avoid the grease.

Drinks not included in the price but not a problem for us as we always drink water anyway.

Atmosphere was nice. Large windows overlooking a nice green golf course. Really enjoyed the sunny day views.

Service was ok, not great. Staff not coming around to fill water glasses enough. Hubby ran out of water and went to the bar to get his own jug.

Unfortunately, we won’t be returning unless they improve quality of the food. Too bad, I was excited to find a new favorite spot that’s close to home.

Took my family to Mr. A's on November 15th for lunch. Food was good but the men's washroom had no paper towels or hand sanitizer in the dispenser outside for the duration of our meal.
At a buffet where germs are easily spread, this is not acceptable.
I sent an e-mail to their administration including photos and received no response. No one seems to care.

Used to visit regularly before covid, 1 of my family's favorite spot to gather. Recently we went about 2 weeks ago for Sunday brunch and the food selection has decreased. Server wasn't coming by for coffee or drinks. I had to go up to the server at the plate/cutlery station to ask for coffee. I asked the chef if my parents could get egg Benedicts without ham and he was very nice and said absolutely to simply let our server know she will go grab it and bring it to our table. We told our server twice but never got it.

Not too shabby.my favourite items were the char siu and spicy salted fried shrimps during the Sunday brunch. I should have tried more breakfast items though, my partner raved about them lol

Great buffet for the price. Nice views and good service. Parking in the weekend is a bit of an issue. Reservations are highly recommended. This place is popular

Continental buffet:

Decent selection of salads and a fresh fruit salad which was good.
One soup option. 4 meat options, rice, potatoes, green beans, one pasta dish, one carving station. Small table of dessert squares. Really not much of a buffet. I walked in and said what.this can't be it, but to my disappointment, it was.
Food was average. Nothing more, nothing less. Pop, tea or coffee should be included in the cost. I don't enjoy going to a buffet and paying $4 for a glass of iced tea.

Their pricing is too high for what you get. They have two pricing groups. Under 9 and Adult (10+)
Many other places offer 3 and under free, or a very low cost for smaller children. My 4 year old had one scoop of pasta, one desert square and a ice tea. $20? Come on. Usually kids are 12 and under, not 9 and under, with smaller kids paying much less. Not here. They gouge.

Everything about this place just puts you off. Atmosphere was not the best either. Maybe the other buffets are better, but for the cost, I'm not going to bother. I came here years ago and it was fantastic, but Mr A is now Mr C-

1 bartender/server & 1 cook.good service and food. And the karaoke guy was great. If you want to get your singing on! And can't wait till Friday go Thursday. Cheers

Went to try out the Sunday brunch buffet and it was fantastic! Door was fresh and every station was great (only complaint would be the roast beef was not the greatest) and nice seafood selection! Highly recommend!

We went to this place to have brunch (on Sunday) but I was not satisfied for a bill of about $28, because the quality of sea food was not good and also I never expected going to a brunch buffet and have to pay for any drink even coffee/tea separately, so odd and cheap! I will never go to this place again.

***this is a long review*** We were excited to finally try Mr. A's Patio prime rib dinner buffet after having watched a YouTube review on it. First impression walking in was ok. Relaxing atmosphere, I especially liked the sunroom area. Food selection was just ok. I've been to less expensive buffets that had good food to compliment the theme of their buffet. The prime rib was not what I was expecting, the meat was tough and soggy at the same time. The ribs were also tough and requires a better knife to cut. They could both use a lot more seasoning (salt and pepper) and more color on them, they were quite pale. The side dishes were ok, the pasta and the salmon were the only ones I enjoyed eating. The salad selection is your basic Caesar salad and a mixed greens along with some other cold salads. The cheese plate consisted of white and yellow cheddar, some fruits and cold noodles on the side. The dessert area consisted of your basic square cakes, the only one that I thought was ok was the cheese cake, the rest were mousses that were starting to deflate. I noticed that in both the salad/cheese area and the dessert had fruit flies flying around them.
To sum up my experience, I think I expected too much from a golf resort buffet.

Upon arriving, I quickly noticed the hostess at the front, she was extremely short with people. One lady didn’t have a reservation so she shooed her off to the side and just told her “that’s a problem”. She then rudely asked if anyone did have a reservation. Just had the attitude of someone who hated her job. After being seated, we noticed it wasn’t just her who hated her life. Other servers as well. The waitress we had, we only saw when she gave us our first glass of water and coffee, after that we had to flag her down multiple times for coffee and more water. Just feel like it’s something that should be asked if needed not always having to wave her down. The food was mostly decent, though when we arrived a lot of the food trays were empty, some were quickly replaced. After a bit of eating, we both started feeling kind of sick, no it wasn’t from eating too much, I wasn’t full and just couldn’t stomach the food anymore unfortunately. Eventually had to also ask for the bill and after asking for it, never had the debit machine brought over to pay- probably would have had to wave her down for that too, ended up just leaving cash. All in all, wasn’t the greatest experience and felt unwelcome. At the end we used the washrooms which looked like the needed some cleaning, also saw one of there water glasses in there on the floor sitting next to the toilet, how appetizing.

There was however one young lady clearing tables, she seemed to be the nicest one there.

Walk in, hostess not being friendly, did not ask me to follow her where I'm setting, and on top of it she sat on the very corner of the restaurant where nobody can see you! And the server came in I ask for coffee and eat my salad, little bit of lunch, still NO SHOW FOR MY COFFEE ORDER, and there's a couple came in, there been treated properly & nice and one customer came, AGAIN she got treated the proper way. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY OF MY FAMILY OR FRIENDSI dine in a lot in a different places but this experience is so awwwwfulllll

Honestly the place smelled weird the food sucked the salmon was so stinky. The only good thing was the salad.
The people working inside were weird. Will not recommend or go again.

Had Sunday brunch, it was very good, lots of choices, omelet bar, waffle bar etc. Food trays were attended to continually so there was lots of food. The place was full, 2 rooms. We were with a large party of 18 that was easily accomodated and the staff was very attentive with bringing out drinks, clearing dishes etc. We got separate bills, which is not always the case when you have a big group, which was much appreciated. We will be back!

Came here for the seafood buffet and it is not worth the $33 per person. Small selection, and pretty bland. The space itself is dated and could use some tlc, or ateast wash the windows to the golf course. Sadly I will not return.

The seafood buffet was disappointing. The cooked food didn't have much taste to it. But the fresh shrimp and mussels were very fresh and tasted naturally sweet. I definitely enjoyed those! Smoked salmon.need work. Clam chowder was watery and not much clam in it. Had some dessert - tiramisu, cheesecake and lemon squares.they were so-so. It was quite a trek to get there, so we're not sure we will go back, unfortunately. Hopefully they improve.

Nice and attentive servers. Good music and entertainment. Food was great, especially their ribs and beef round partnered with their glaze.

We came for prime rib buffet. Very limited selection. I've been to many many buffets local and in Vegas. This one is easily the worst. I regret taking time off work to try this as pr buffet is only offered on certain nights. I'm giving 2 stars for the atmosphere and live music. Stay away.

Experienced their Thursday night seafood buffet as well as their Friday night Prime Rib buffet.

The seafood buffet was alright. Lots of cocktail shrimp, mussels, and fish. They have a salad and dessert bar as well.

The prime rib buffet was ok. If you're craving some time rib at an affordable price, this is the place to be. Nothing too fancy, nice rustic meal.

Get there early when the food is fresh.

Friendly staff and servers and good environment.

We went to lthe Nutcracker Buffet on Boxing Day as is our tradition. Been to this restaurant several times and we are NEVER disappointed! Good [rices, excellently preparedfood, a wide variety in buffet items, we have also appreciated attentive and pleasant serving staff. Top marks!

Went for the Saturday Prime Rib Buffet, only a limited selection but i'd still give them 5 stars as all the food are good.great staff too.

One of my family favorite place to go for Sunday brunch. Very good food and costumer friendly service. We been going to this place for the past 20 years. Family oriented friendly atmosphere. Five stars

We’ve eaten here many times before and hold parties and experience is always great! Service, ambience and food always superb! Highly recommended!

Met up with 3 other couples for annual pre Xmas dinner. Putting it mildly all of us where disappointed. Wait staff where excellent otherwise it was a one star experience. Selection was on par to Uncle Willy's and the meat carver was young and inexperienced. Served me two large pieces of cap fat from the roast (one piece had a small bit of meat the other was all fat). Roast turkey was a boneless turkey breast roll with no skin. Bland and tasteless just like the big piece of string that was served with it. Price for 2 with a bottle of a domestic red, one coffee, and tip was closer to $150.00. Will not be next year's destination.

Very good restaurant and comfort environment to have a gathering with family and friends. Will come back again.

Went to their lunch buffet today and we were disappointed. The food didn’t look appetizing, the food tasted mediocre at best and the South Asian older lady who was dishing out the food acted like we were bothering her and she seemed like she didn’t want to be there.

Also, I asked her in the butter tart if there were pecans as I’m highly allergic and her response was “I DONT KNOW WHATS IN THE FOOD! ”. So you’re telling me you’re dishing out food that you don’t know what the ingredients are and possibly a customer could be allergic and that’s your reply?

We won’t be coming back! Also it’s in dire need of renos— I was shocked how outdated and ran down this place is; the only modern thing was their POS system lol.

I would have gave 1 star but the servers were so nice and kind.

We love their seafoods Thursdays! I had a party of 50 this past Saturday and i felt like i was ripped off. I had to pay mandatory $2.95 per adult for coffee/ tea.and because of the weather obviously no one's want to drink coffee.there were 2 who asked and that's it. It would have been nice if they offer a different option accordingly. Overall it was ok selection of lunch. A salmon, chicken wing/drum, pasta, potato, rice and salads. With dessert and fruit

We used to enjoy it here, service was horrible, food quality was not the way it used to be. Staff seemed unhappy and that we were a bother. Won't be back and won't recommend anymore.

We went to seafood buffet. It was raining and rain was dripping from ceiling to our table…. They just put a glass for dripping rain…. Other than that, we all really enjoyed seafoods and desserts….

A feedback to the restaurant management with the SAME concerns we had let them know back in December after the Christmas Buffet. The SAME staff member back in December and again this weekend was WEARING HIS MASK BELOW HIS NOSE. How unsafe is that? ! We saw another review that was posted a month ago with the SAME comment on the SAME person in their photo. Obviously the restaurant management has not followed up with this issue.

Also, when we were leaving we walked by the prep counter which was located by the dance floor and behind the bar. Another staff member had HIS MASK DOWN TO HIS CHIN! HIS NOSE AND MOUTH WERE NOT COVERED WHILE CUTTING POTATOES. We were so disgusted!

I really wanted to like the Saturday Prime Rib Buffet but it was really too bad. The execution of the food just was not there. I felt bad for the ingredients as that wasn't really the issue but the way it was mostly prepared. Salad bar is tough to mess up but they managed to do it by serving wilted room temp greens. Old croutons. The mains were just all poorly executed. Rice Pilaf was dry and crusty, roast potatoes were decent but not really roasted more steamed, roasted veg wasn't even edible as it was mush. Lamb was breaded and because it's in the steam table breading was mush. Mango Salmon had this sauce that tasted like condensed milk it was so sweet. Sweeter than some of their deserts. Cream pasta was same level as microwave pasta all dried up and mushy. Prime rib and yorkshire was pretty much the only thing that was good. $26.95 is a great deal so I really wanted this to be decent but the execution of 80% of the dishes was just poor. We ate at 7pm and not really busy with covid and also everything should be fresh and well done but it just wasn't so. I really hope they can improve on their execution soon. It won't really cost them any money just adjusting their seasonings and how better to serve the food hot & maintain the quality. The ingredients were not top level but doesn't have to be if cooked properly. Our service was great by the way. Hope they bring the band back soon.

OMG! Okay went last night 8 of us first they sat us in a room about 2 miles from the Buffet had our 90 year old dad with us it was to far for him to walk back and forth, Now for the food itself not very good at all we all agreed that the white fish was soft and mushy shell fish no flavor and not fresh, oysters were a Mushy concoction of I dont know what we are still trying to figure that out the crab was good on the first round but after that way to salty and when that happens it means they are trying to mask the flavor freshness in conclusion we spent alot of money there that simply was substandard food that was cold by the time you actually received it because of the confusing desert and hot food lineups Never go again unless Newlands "Up their Game "

Very good food and friendly service. Though the Maître de could use some people skills. You don't dress dress down the staff in public.

Sadly our waitress had an attitude. Everytime we wanted a refill we needed to ask 3 times before getting it. Our plates were never cleared until we asked the floor manager. Had to go to the bar and get drink refills twice. Also asking for our bill took 20 minutes. Food was okay.

Pleasant host and server. Food was good. Many chefs to plate your food, so didn't have to wait in line too long.

Went here for Sunday brunch with family and friends for a 60th birthday celebration. It's a really big place. I think they set up tables throughout their separate ballrooms and meeting rooms where they host events. They had a very large selection of food, likely too large a selection because nothing was particularity outstanding. They had the usual eggs, bacon, sausages, an omelette bar, waffles etc. Also a large selection of salads, seafood, and lots of tasty deserts. Good value for the money, except I was surprised when we were charged extra for coffee.

When you read on line what there buffet consists of and some of it isn't there, you feel a tad disappointed.

Best Brunch Buffet I have been to in the lower mainland. I would honestly give it 5 stars but we felt we were on a cruise ship with the decor. But the food and service deserves 5 stars!

The food is mediocre poor selection and expensive for what you get. Service was good and friendly. Parking is free.

I like the food there. Dessert is incredible. Soup smelled like it was burn yesterday. One meat menu was missing its label.

We just came back from the Sunday night buffett. The food and view were incredible. The service was outstanding! We will be back.

Really disappointed with the seafood buffet tonight. Crab was frozen which was hard to get out of the shell. No one wants to eat a crabsicle. 2 stars are for the excellent server Stephanie.

There was only one vegetable on the hot buffet. The salad was sitting in about 2 inches of water. I found it totally lacked variety of salads and vegetables. The band was very loud and we couldn't talk across a small round table.

Been here for lunch and seafood buffet on Thursday. Lots of selection and food is always great. Never been disappointed with food, service and restaurant ambiance. The only thing is, it is quite a drive as this is located in Langley.

Nice place good food.
But on Saturday too much noise.

And a bit expensive for kid under 2 years old

Well known for Sunday brunch. Service was good, food was plentiful but predictable and just ok. 80's decor in great need of a renovation with bathroom facilities more appropriate for the size of the venue.

Mr A's Patio Restaurant did have misic entertainment, in the buffet the Saturday we were there. Mr A's buffet is on the main level (main floor) and has buffets Thursday through Sunday. Brunch is on Sunday. I only inquired and observed that place was full on a Saturday evening, the food looked good. Always scouting for something new. The kitchen is the same for both upstairs and downstairs, main level.

Interestingly not too busy on a Friday evening. Prime Ribs not as tender as expected. Salmon is cooked to perfection. Variety of appetizers and desserts. Excellent service.

The food here was great. Prime rib on the buffet was moist, warm, and succulent. Mini potatoes were well seasoned and soft. The vegetable selection could have been more, as there 2as only squash, but it was good nonetheless. Service was great and the bar upstairs was pretty good as well. Bit of an older crowd, but a great time nonetheless.

Great food, nice setting, live music. Really enjoyed my dining experience here with my family. At times the music was so loud that I felt like I had to yell just to communicate to my family, but I don't believe the saxophone player was amplified in any way so I dont think it could've been helped. His playing was lovely and my whole family really enjoyed his music! Just would prefer to be seated a bit further away in the future so I can chat with my relatives easier.

Went here for their Sunday continental buffet. Good value for your bucks! They had a variety of dishes for everyone to enjoy.

I’ve been here since 2007. Haven’t visited them for a while. When I revisited, great vibe and reminiscing happy childhood, everything was perfect! Would recommend this place hands down. Great food and selections especially when nowadays you can rarely find a satisfying an all you can eat restaurant.
