Murphy Wall-Beds

We added a mother in law suite to our home for a partial year live in parent. The Murphy bed was an obvious choice for us since the room would only have a guest 3months out if the year allowing us to save space for a quilting studio the rest of the year. The quality of the bed and the assembly instructions/YouTube videos is very high. The bed is rated for 2000lbs and is easy to pull down and re-stow again. Highly recommend this bed manufacturer with full confidence.

We are very happy with our Murphy Wall Bed. We bought the bed with an attached desk. The assembly was actually quite fun, but it did require a couple of days to complete everything - the bed, two side shelve components, and the desk. We would buy this bed again. I recently ordered a queen size wall bed from Murphy Wall Beds, and overall the experience was excellent, with one exception. The Build-a-Bed function on the website worked great and allowed me to see what my finished product would look like in the colors I chose. I wasn't 100% sure on the colors I wanted, and I was able to get samples to help me choose. The ordering process online went very smoothly. I received emails telling me that my order was in processing/being built, shipping details and progress. The delivery went smoothly, and the bed was extremely well packaged/crated.

I had a friend and his son help put the bed together, and the instructions were excellent, as was the series of 22 instruction videos taking us through each step of assembling the bed. The instructions say that the assembly can be done with 2 people, but when it came time to place the front bed panel onto the tension arms, it was heavy enough that it required 4 of us to get it done. WIth a smaller sized bed two people may be able to accomplish it.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the bed and the clear instructions on how to assemble it. The one issue I have is this: Murphy Wall-Beds does not sell mattresses, but their support page states that "We recommend using an inner coil or spring mattress up to 12" thick with the Extended Legs. The mattress can have layers of comfort foam on top, but the core must be spring. The mattress should weigh no more than 75 pounds. We do not recommend using an all foam, latex, gel, or tempurpedic mattress due to the weight of the mattress and the internal structure is not designed to stay upright". The one issue I have with the company is that I bought the "extended leg" option to allow for a 12" thick mattress, because I wanted a 12" thick mattress. I found it impossible to find a coil/spring mattress that was 12" thick that weighed 75 pounds or less. I tried calling the company to ask where I might find one, and they were very unhelpful, telling me that all I had to do is go to a mattress store. When I explained that I had difficulty finding an acceptable mattress, they pointed me to a 10" thick mattress, which is not what I wanted. I tried pointing out that if they offer an option to accomodate a 12" thick mattress, then it would seem that an acceptable 12" thick mattress would exist, but it apparently does not, or at least they weren't interested in helping me find the mattress that I paid extra for the option to accomodate.

We did a bunch of research on Murphy beds before purchasing. The internet is littered with complaints about missing parts, poor quality and bad customer service. But there’s nothing but love for Murphy Wall-Beds. It’s a terrific product with detailed assembly instructions and helpful customer support. Well worth every penny.

Ordering simple. Product arrived on schedule. The instructions are very easy to follow and very very clear. Everything assembled as planned. Very high quality product. Excellent customer support. I highly recommend their products. Compared to other brand Murphy beds this is better quality.

What a delightful experience! First off, the shipping coordination and handoffs kept us totally aware of the order progress.
Everything arrived in pristine condition thanks to some seriously impressive packing in a wooden crate. Next, the instruction manual is spiral bound, full color, and so easy to follow - not stapled copies of pictures. The quality of the materials and engineering really is top notch. We are surprised how rock solid, sturdy and stable this final product is. Unfortunately, we measured our space incorrectly (our fault) but Christine in customer service was fantastic at handling the situation. We had new parts arriving within just over a week of ordering them. Again, Christine was so easy to work with and reassuring that they could get us the parts we needed. We had a bad experience with murphy bed purchased from an online discount retailer that eventually was returned. Don't make the same mistake and just do it right the first time with Murphy Wall-Beds. Love these guys!

The entire experience with Murphy wall beds was great - from the easy-to-customize website, to delivery, to assembly, it all went exactly as described. The instructional videos are clear and helpful, and the final product both looks great and, after 4 months of use, remains extremely comfortable and solid. It’s a 2 day build, to assemble, but a really good product.

I inherited a Murphy Bed with the purchase of a house. The rubber feet were worn out. The bed is probably close to 30 years old, so I didn't really expect to be able to find parts for it. After a couple of emails, including pictures, back and forth, Murphy Wall-Beds thought they had feet that would work. I received the feet in 3 days and they were a perfect match! I'm really grateful for the VERY quick and accurate service. Thanks!

Our Murphy Bed is fantastic and works and looks as good as it does on the website. It is an involved assembly but the youtube videos are extremely thorough and don't miss anything. Extremly satisfied with the product.

Ordering and delivery of my Murphy Queen Horizontal bed was as stated. It would have arrived when scheduled but a hurricane had gone through so it was rescheduled.
It was packaged safely in its own crate.no damage. Delivered to my front door. The truck driver had pallet jack to put it where ever I needed it.
I assembled most of it myself with the help of another person for the few steps that required lifting and/or maneuvering the bed. It is heavy.
Assembly directions were detailed, customized to my particular bed model and had many pictures to show the way. It was pretty straight forward as far as assemble goes.
The only thing I would have liked was more details as to how many springs to use. The instructions Stated to use from 3-5 springs on each side depending on need but did not really explain well enough how to decide on how may to use. I ended up having to put another spring on each side after I had assembled it (probably should have added even one more) which meant taking the bed off the springs adding the new spring to each side and reinstalling the bed. Not an easy job as that is where you need at least two people to maneuver the bed frame. As stated before it is heavy and at a awkward angle. I found out later that the bed is supposed to kind of hang/stay at a 45 degree angle if the proper amount of springs are used.
Other then that I had no problems and would recommend Murphy bed to anyone who needs a flexible room option. They are very sturdy and well made and good looking.

I ordered my single XL horizontal bed with left cabinet late in December 2022 and am now enjoying what looks and feels like a great bed/furniture. Pre-sales support was excellent - my questions were answered thoughtfully and quickly. The ordering process was easy to complete and even though I made a mistake, my email requesting a minor change was accommodated and quickly confirmed. They kept me informed about the production (timing) of my order - it was just excellent. They used a third party for the final leg of the shipping process and they were professional. The bed comes in a crate and is carefully packed. The materials are all labelled and with one exception it was easy to understand. Smaller parts were bagged and numbered and that was very helpful. The components fit together nicely and you can feel the substance (quality) of the cabinet pieces. End result is a great looking piece of furniture and it's easy to open and enjoy the bed. They would have earned a 5 star rating from me if the instructions provided were applicable and clear. I was told they were producing a new video for the horizontal bed. Just about anything would be a great improvement on what I had to deal with. When I got stuck, they replied to my email and we also has a few phone calls. Unfortunately, this dragged out because we're in different time zones and the people they have to answer questions are available from 9am PT to 2: 30PT. But the job of putting together got done and I'm really pleased with the product.

Easy online transaction and great that is was on sale. Delivery was smooth, via FedEx fright and I can see it is very well packed. The challenge is finding someone who has experience installing a unit, and not far away - one company would have to drive 3-hours in each direction and wants $1,500 to install - given my work schedule, I don't have the time.

The company does not provide any solution, or help in this realm, unless you have time and the inclination to do yourself which is unfortunate (would be to their benefit to have "approved" master Murphy Bed installers around the U. S.) and will consider other companies solutions should we ever get another unit when we next move.

This company does a fantastic job. Selecting options was easy. The order shipped quickly and was very well packaged! Putting the bed together was relatively straightforward but it did take me about 4 hours longer than they quote. That’s probably on me. Either way, we’re super happy with the end product. Highly recommended.

When I began my research into "murphy beds" it started with, well. Murphy Wall-Beds. I looked at their construction, choices and options, and then went to the other wall-bed makers to give them "a shot" too.

What I found is that Murphy was not only the better choice, it was the better value.

I will say though, when assembling your wall-bed, follow the instructions precisely. Murphy's instructions are clear and concise. You can tell that they have put together thousands of wall-beds, and their experience shows in the instructions.

I ordered a queen wall bed from Murphy Wall-Beds. The crate with all of the parts for assembly arrived on time, and I was able to specify a delivery truck with a tailgate that would mechanically lower the crate to the ground and the truck driver was able to put the crate in our garage. My husband and I unpacked the crate (both of us in our 70's) and moved the parts into our garage apartment. Our son and grandson completed the assembly and even though there were a couple of the instructions that were not clear, were able to assemble the wall bed in one evening. We've used it twice for guests and it works just fine, It looks beautiful and it is so nice to be able to "put the bed away" and have a room that looks attractive when the bed is not in use. It is easy enough for me to pull the bed down and make it up with sheets and blankets, and it looks nice. I would suggest the addition of a "filler" (piece of foam filler the width of the bed) to put between the head of the mattress and the board that is next to the wall.

We ordered a Murphy bed for our guest bedroom/office and could not be more pleased. It looks great, does not take up a lot of space, and makes the room multifunctional!

The Murphy Wall Bed looks great, but the instructions given to assemble are so bad, that I'd recommend that you go with someone else.

It became painfully obvious right away that whoever wrote the instructions for assembling the Murphy Bed didn't actually use the instructions to assemble the bed.

Parts were labeled incorrectly.

Instructions were incomplete and not clear.

To top it all off, they didn't even pre-drill all the holes. Why would they drill most, but not all the pilot holes? It literally makes no sense.

I gave up trying to assemble the bed as my time is better spent elsewhere. I hired a local handyman team to finish it.

They mentioned the same thing to me that I had found. The instructions were horrible.

If the Murphy Wall Bed company really wants to fix this problem, it's really simple.

Hire someone who does not already work for the company to follow the instructions to put together the Murphy Bed. Have them note all the mistakes and where things can be better explained and improved. Then implement those changes.

Translation, care about the customer experience when they receive the bed.

Like I said at the beginning, the bed looks great. However, I'd never buy from them again. Instead, I'd buy a pre-built Murphy Bed or a company that installs the bed for you.

The Murphy bed has been a dream! The assembly took a very long time but the instructions were detailed and the videos helped a ton. Now that it’s up, I couldn’t be more happy with it

Great customization options on the webpage, quick and clear confirmation, quick delivery.

I wish they would offer some installation service (the assembly really should be done with two people at least and taskrabbits aren't familiar with murphy beds. There were a few issues during the installation which I was able to fix only partially.)

The final product looks pretty good, is easy to open / close and pretty comfortable.

I have installed 4 wall beds in my homes. The Murphy wall bed is far and away the best mechanism at the best price.

Fantastic quality! I assembled it myself until having to lift the bed to the springs & hinge phase - then I needed help. But truly it fit exactly what I needed, the quality was great, instructions were clear and I was very satisfied!

What a fantastic way to make a small space multi-functional. Beautiful finished look and assembly wasn't bad either! Instructions were super helpful. We had 1 knob missing from the entire kit and as soon as I sent a e-mail - they were on it and we had it in our hands in under a week! Sorry I don't have a fully decorated photo to send since this is a rental property we were re-doing. Great use of space. Wish I'd thought of it for our spare bedroom at home.

Upon discovering your website, I was amazed at the different configurations available! Selecting the perfect "one for me" was easy as you could view your bed as you built it. Once ordered I was contacted with time estimates during the building process. Another thing I liked was my bed was built AFTER you received my order. I was informed of materials availability and, again, given an estimate time for completion. I was notified when it was shipped and when it would be delivered. It was boxed very securely in wood with each piece wrapped for protection. It arrived in perfect condition. I highly recommend your company.

I bought and installed a Murphy bed with 2 bookcases. It was a great experience and simple to do. The quality and detail is great. Plus the install videos combined with instructions made it super easy and quick. Definitely would buy again and I get tons of compliments!

I installed the bed approximately 6 mohts ago in my son's room. He has graduated college and no longer lives with us. It is sturdy and comfortable to use and has allowed us to increase the functionality of this room, which has been great. My only complaint is the assembly process. The instructions I received were somewhat unclear on some steps and in some cases did not match the system I received. The variances were relatively minor, but did make me have to disassemble and reassemble some of the steps. Also, I think the locating scheme between the bed frame and the hider panel for the bed should be improved. Getting the hider panel square to the bed frame and the wall cabinet requries a lot of finesse. Mine turned out OK but not great and as a result the hider panel rubs slightly against the wall cabinet when closing, which is disappoitning. With all of that said, I am considering ordering another wall bed for my (also grown and flown) daughter's room.

We were converting a spare bedroom into a workout room at the start of the pandemic, but still wanted to use it as a spare bedroom for the occasional guest that came over. Murphy Wall-Beds to the rescue. I looked all over online to find one that looked to be good quality but not astronomically priced. This one is built in Canada and freight shipped, so it’s not spending any time on a boat from overseas.

The packaging quality was phenomenal. They custom build a crate for everything and it comes shipped on pallets. The delivery company pulled it into my garage where I unpacked it. It even has a shock sensor on the crate to tell if it’s been dropped or banged around.

Everything was wrapped and individually labeled. All exposed wood ends were wrapped in plastic wrap to protect them from moisture and damage to the melamine edges. It comes with a custom printed assembly instruction book (spiral bound) that walks through every step of the process. And there are lots of very helpful videos online. The images matched what we had purchased with only 1 or 2 exceptions.

It took my wife and I a couple days to put it together in the room because we were doing it in the evenings and I was bringing the pieces up to the room as needed, so lots of trips up and down the stairs. Everything went together well and it looks great in the room. We’ve even had the chance to use it a couple of times, and it worked very well.

My advice - Pay attention to the instructions and the videos and take your time. There is no reason to rush unless you are just doing this to flip a home.

The only step up from this would be a custom build one by a woodworker, but that would cost you easily 3x the price.

We chose to have the natural wood grain that we would then stain. This worked out pretty good, although we were kind of expecting to have solid wood, but it was a veneer, just as the other finishes. The unit went together quite easily and the instructions were clear. Having things pre-drilled made it almost foolproof when assembling. Making sure we had things the right direction took some coordination, but between both of us, we were able to successfully assemble the unit. It works great!

Arrived as promised, and easy to assemble.
Minus one star because direction stated to use 7 or 8 springs. I chose 8 (easy to install) and only needed 7 (bed pops up now when i get stand up). The springs are impossible to remove without almost complete disassembly. I had to add weight under the bed to accommodate too many springs.

We love the bed- ordering was easy - communication was great - it gives us an extra room to use when we don’t have quests- looks built in- impressive

We've been using our Murphy Wall Bed for about three months now, sleeping on it full-time. The online design process was super easy and it was delivered on-time, as promised, even with the current state of supply chains. Assembly was no joke (This is not Ikea, for sure!) and their time/people estimates for that are pretty spot on. The online videos are helpful if you get stuck. We had trouble finding a quality mattress that fulfilled Murphy's weight requirements, but we went with Bear and it's been surprisingly comfy to sleep on. (We emailed Murphy for mattress help, but they were not particularly helpful on that.) We also emailed them about stripped hardware, but they were helpful there - sent a replacement ASAP. In the end, I think I would've done two things differently: one, not ordered molding for the top, because it's an extra cost that made very little difference, and two, configured our bookshelves differently. (The shelves are their own separate units, which I did not realize. You could put them in a completely different room, without compromising the bed.) Also, have a plan for disposing of the MASSIVE crate these things come in - they are not small! But all in all, we are very satisfied. The bed has been a lifesaver for small space living!

We’ve had our Murphy Wall Bed for a few months now and it’s great! We ordered the build-a-bed with vertical queen pull down, right hand shelves and night stand, and the built in office desk all in Mysterious Blue with champagne hardware. It’s in our guest bedroom and looks great with perfect functionality as I use it for my office when working from home. And you can’t find better quality and the ability to customize to what you want for a better price (we did buy ours in the middle of a sale) … believe me, we’ve looked everywhere. It is a lot to put together if you’re doing it yourself but they provide really good printed instructions and we also found their YouTube videos to be helpful. Just be prepared to give yourself plenty of time to build your bed and find a partner or two to help. Overall we are very happy with our purchase!

I am disappointed with the performance of the product. We installed our murphy bed on carpet and the carpet has caused the wood bar in the center to rise so that when we open and close the bed it catches. It has damaged the finish on the edge already and will likely cause further damage to the frame. We only purchased the bed earlier this year. It worked perfectly when we first installed it.

Very good product, I may buy a 2nd. On the LED overhead lights, it would be nice for two switches, one switch for one side and one for other side, so a couple can have own light controls

The instructions were easy to follow and the product is well built. We are extremely happy with our choice and the added storage space is priceless!

Our Murphy bed arrived on time and in perfect condition and was exactly what we ordered. The assembly instructions were clear and all the parts were there and labeled correctly and clearly. It looks great and is built very well. We love it and would recommend this product to anyone!

From my initial telephone call to final assembly and utilization of the bed, EVERYTHING surpassed my expectations. This is a fantastic company with above average customer service and a product that functions as designed. If you are in the market for a wall bed this is the product that sets the standard. I've tried other products and as the saying goes, "buy cheap, buy twice". If you purchase this product it will be last one you need to buy. The packaging, shipping, delivery, and instructions could not be any better. Easy assembly if you can use a mallet, screwdriver, and follow instructions. Fantastic. The bed looks great and fits the space perfectly. Great product. Great company.

We looked and looked and looked and then found Murphy Wall-Beds. I can not imagine another brand that has the quality, visual appeal (takes up least amount of space), and excellent customer support. We took the install process slow and steady, and with 2 people (most of the time) we completed it as if we were professionals. We highly recommend.

Our Murphy Wall-Bed has been a wonderful asset to our home office to be used as another guest room if needed. It’s a beautiful piece to add to any room with a functional purpose. The only downside I could think of is that the assembly of the bed is quite a project. Can be done, but again- a project to complete.

Very happy. Fantastic bed frame as advertised. The customization options were crucial to make the most of the room and the directions were very clear (including the customization options I added which i'd expect would be the first to be missed). Putting it together was significant work as it probably took an entire week working on the weeknights and weekends. That being said, it's not meant as a negative, just be realistic with your ability and strength to build a custom murphy bed. Everything was pre-drilled and there was one hole (out of hundreds) that didn't perfectly line up - pretty impressive quality control.

The most difficult thing was adding the springs to the bed mechanism. The directions warn how difficult it may be but also gloss over it. "Here's how you add the first spring, then the second, repeat for the next 3-7 you may need for your particular bed size. " There were no special tools involved and the combination of strength and seemingly small fingers required was a difficult task. Perhaps i didn't get the trick of it but i came away with some cuts. I know for a fact, my wife would not have had the hand strength to perform this step, i barely was able to complete it. I'd recommend the company provide a custom jig or tool or allows the mechanism to be separated a little more to allow for room to maneuver the added springs beyond the tips of one's fingers once they are inserted.

This Murphey bed was exactly what we needed. The instructions were clear, and it went together in an evening.
We've enjoyed it many times when visiting our daughter.

My son ordered one and was very pleased. I then ordered the queen with desk. Happy with delivery time, quality. I didn't receive the velco strap to hold down mattress, but customer service sent it out quickly. My only issue is that the overhead lights don't work right. One or both will go on or off with switch. Customer service said they could send a switch or wiring, but we would have to take apart quite a few panels to correct it. Hard to do when it's attached to wall.

The queen sized bed and desk unit we ordered addressed all our needs - a comfortable bed, a large worktop area and plenty of storage! The packaging was excellent and instructions remarkably clear. The recommended videos were a great help.

The Murphy bed arrived in a really well packaged crate and all seemed in perfect order. After building the center section I noticed that a door on a side cabinet was warped and notified Chelsea. She immediately had it remade and the replacement was perfect.

During assembly I read the instructions but, unfortunately, did not follow them. Rather than building the center section (the bed itself) I went ahead and assembled and installed the bed and side cabinets. Don't do this! I ended up uninstalling the side cabinets because the main panel didn't line up (hint: watch the YouTube videos).

After following the directions the bed went together smoothly and we are very happy. Thank you Chelsea and team!

The Murphy Bed was perfect for our room and easy to order, delivered on time and assembly was a snap following the instruction videos. I highly recommend for anyone looking to add a Murphy bed in their home. Great company and great customer service from start to finish.

Bed was delivered on time and was in good condition. We have used it for guest a couple of times and it is very comfortable. We use a foam mattress despite the warnings top the contrary from Murphy. Seems to work fine. However, we have only had it for a few months. Time will tell if the foam mattress starts to compress or bulge from its weight.
