This is my second time getting the gamjatang delivered, this time with different spice levels, and I can confirm its one of the best in town. I can tell they put a lot of effort into the broth for the Gamjatang, rather than recycling the same, bland broth base for all their soup menus; which is what happens at most other Korean restaurants in Canada

It was a place I often went to whenever I wanted to eat sundaeguk, but I recently stopped going and visited after a long time. The boss I've always seen isn't there, so I'm asking a newcomer.
“Is the previous boss not coming back by any chance? ”
“Why, why are you doing that? ”
"Oh, I come here often, but I hope the person I saw is gone. "
"Oh, okay, call me directly. "

Then turn around and do your own thing. The aggressive tone and expression that cannot be expressed in writing is a bonus. I assure you, there is a problem with the newcomer's personality. Koreans who ignore typical Korean dogs.will never go

Sundae, pods, and rice soup are all delicious here. I heard that the boss comes out at dawn and cooks. A delicious hidden restaurant that reminds me of Korea. But it smells like pork. I'm fine, but I don't think people who don't like it won't eat it.

Located in Robson Public Market. Got the #1 pork sausage soup. Asked for medium and it came as red/orange coloured when it was ready which was different than the picture (which was white colored broth). It was not too spicy though, just looked that way and I could drink the broth comfortably. Had lots of ingredients and decent amount of sausage and meat. Came with some nice radish side and seaweed. Don’t forget to use the dipping sauce for the meat which I forgot to use.

Food is literally soooo good!
We had a soontufu jjigae with pork and a kamja tang for lunch a couple days ago, the soup was great! Spicy but not overly seasoned, there are a lot of fillings in the soup and it's pretty cheap!
Your stomach will feel so comfortable after eating, even when it's full! Yummy yummy yum

Favourite place for Korean style soup and stews! Don’t miss out on their Seollangtang, it’s phenomenal:)

What a horrible experience. I approached the front counter and nicely asked the owner the size comparison between a Small and a Large. He replied back to me “small, large, both good, ok ok” I asked again, “sorry i mean what is the size difference” and did a gesture with my hand. He replied “aghh both good jinchaaa you large ok small ok”. He seem agigated. I asked one more time could you please show me the small and large size pot” he replied with a very annoyed, frustrated and annoying grunt “aghh, ahhh esshh, small ok small good for you”. That concludes the service. Whole time he looked at me twice. I don’t think anyone deserves to be treated that way.

Onto the food. I ordered #11 daeji gupbap. That was the worst daeji gupbap I’ve ever experienced. Having travelled South Korea 3 times - having been to almost every region. This was no where in comparison to even the worst I’ve had in Korea. The owner has the audacity to write down “authentic korean food” on the description.

The daeji gupbap had absolutely no bone broth taste and texture, the soup was sour due to a lot of kimchi in the soup, there was a hint of shin ramuyen seasoning packet flavor. Disgusting. I ended up eating a quarter of it along with the rice so i wouldnt starve at work. I will never come back here again and will never recommend anyone.

When i sat down to eat, table in front of the cashier, he was much kinder and more patient with Korean speaking customers. On the phone he used the Korean mannerisms. A mother and her child ordered and he seemed to answer all their questions as well with mannerisms.

Update 2023-01-30 to 31st
Around 10pm felt stomach cramping, nauseau and weakness, 4-5am diarhea and weakness. Had to call in sick at work today. Still having diarhea 4: 35pm. I submitted a complaint form to Vancouver Coastal Health as well.

It is highly likely it’s from this place because I didn’t eat out for the past 3 days.

This place is so delicious! I had the pork bone spicy soup and the pork sausage hot plate, the dishes were absolutely delicious and not overly seasoned or anything. Was a wonderful experience as these are my childhood favorites! The owner was so accommodating and kind, the food there is definitely made with love and you can taste it!

The sundae soup was too salty and the smell of pork was so strong that I felt sick to my stomach. I was afraid of money, so I forced myself to eat a little, but in the end, I ended up with almost all of it left. I had to pay in advance for the meal, but as a joke, he said, “You can pay more. ” I was shocked.

The food was a bit salty, but overall it was ok. However, water is separately charged and the boss is not so kind.

I very much enjoyed the soondae soup. It tastes a bit different than other soondae soup I've had in Korea. Sweeter and has more Myeolchi (멸치) flavor I'd say. Loved their good quality soondae. I'd love to try the stir-fried soondae next time. FYI it isn't a "restaurant", it's more like a food court.

It was my first time to try the Korean SoonDaeGook and I like it! I ordered the small size and the portion is quite big for me. My friend ordered Gamjatang and she couldn’t finish it because of its big portion! We both like the soup very much and definitely will come back! The owner was nice to us too.

To me, this is about as authentic a casual Korean dining experience can get. Generous portion sizes, a straight-forward menu, family-run business, intimate customer service, and of course delicious hard-hitting flavours all make this one of my favourite Vancouver restaurants. I was visiting from out of town, otherwise I'd visit this place a lot more often!

I had the soondae soup, with a choice of spice level (medium for me, I'd recommend mild or low for most folks). The pickled radish and gim (nori) that came with my order were delicious too!

Shoutouts to Jeff and his parents! We need more restaurants like yours in Vancouver and across Canada

First time trying Korean food since moving to Vancouver and hands down the best! Can’t beat the price and authenticity. I had the ‘Gam ja tang’ and the portion was filling- couldn’t finish. The owner was super friendly and will defo be coming back here.

Don't listen to the other reviews. Owners are lovely. Best gamjatang in town. Hearty and delicious.

It’s the best korean restaurant in Vancouver. And the owner is so kind and warm person. His recipes are legendary. Definitely my favorite place ^. ^

It's a food court place so don't expect any fancy surroundings here.
Food-wise, it's fantastic, love the flavours, they do an excellent job here.
They make everything to order so the downside is there is often quite the wait, even when it's not very busy. It's also a bit pricey, for example, the small sundae is something like $18 for a small portion with not much of anything else.
Despite that, I would still consider returning, cause the food!

I highly recommend Sundaeguk Makchang Stir-fry, which is a really Korean taste. Especially, children love Sundae Guk the most among Korean food, and I think this is the most delicious place to eat. And I really enjoyed the warm service. Thank you for the kind and warm response of the owner. I strongly recommend this place to others.

Brought food from within Robson Market Place and got screamed at by the NamSan owner for eating my INSIDE food (and outside food) in the shared food court. 1. Why are you screaming at me and threatening to call security? Let's act like adults in front of other customers. 2. I literally have INSIDE food! I'm supporting businesses in the market! Why are you behaving as if I'm not a paying customer? How is this appropriate behavior? 3. It's a shared food court space! Just because I bought downstairs food to eat upstairs doesn't give you the right to try to chase me off the property. Have a little common courtesy. 4. Wear a god damn mask if you want to scream in our faces. There's literally a pandemic going on and you think it's appropriate to get in our faces and spread who knows what contaminations to us? No wonder Robson Public Market is dead with no traffic.

Great food and reasonably quick considering the dishes were cooked from scratch! The owner was very polite and nice. This will fulfill any Korean dish cravings.

Food was very tasty, the price is fair and the portions are large.

My favorite go to place is near by. Just like southcastle, food is unbelievable. It doesnt matter what you get because you get the best. My family is now waiting for this place to open. See you in few hours. Temporary closed? I hope its not what i think it is.

This site is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place.everytime I feel like having a proper meal, this place comes right away to my mind.extremely good and all sorts of food and a large menu.professional crew, and nice atmosphere. Also, the pay is fair. I suggest this place with great pleasure.

Extremely rude owner! No customers in the mall already and you are giving attitude (“too busy” to answer a question) ? Shocking

A hidden gem. Although the restaurant is located in food court and is small, this place serves better food than other big Korean restaurants in the neighbourhood. I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic the flavour was, very reasonably priced and great portion. Lots of meat in soup. 5/5

돼지국밥이 대박입니다! 들깨를 넣으셔서 아주 좋았어요. 고기양도 푸짐하고 밴쿠버에서 먹어본 것 중에 단연 최고입니다. 번창하세요~ 부산보다 맛있네요.

At the moment you arrive in this restaurant the personel give you a nice feeling. Very courteous team, it is a lovely place to hang out with friends and colleagues or with your date.tasty cooking, professional chef de cuisine, reasonable pay and generous service. Highly recommended.
