Nanaimo Hearing Clinic

I went to Nanaimo Hearing Clinic after some concerns that although functional, certain periodic changes and a noticeable lower quality than normal with my hearing had come up and upon the request of my doctor I booked a hearing exam.
The Clinic is well located with signs making it easy to find, inside it is clean, paint colors are well thought out giving a serene yet professional atmosphere with the receptionist an absolute gem of a person who remembered me from our phone conversation.
I am a little empathic by nature and did wish the tester would have been maybe a little more personable and a little less abrupt however in retrospect they do assist those who have profound hearing difficulties so they do need to be louder and more to the point which is good and important.
All in all the tester was on time for the appointment, organized, decisive with the cost of testing reasonably priced. She also followed up with an email confirmation the next day thanking me for coming in and that the tests were sent directly to my doctors which I requested.

A couple of years ago, I had a sudden hearing loss in one ear. As my husband is a long-time client, I called for advice and was told to come in asap. A hearing test to determine the extent of hearing was done, and I was referred to the hospital emergency department to see an ENT, as it could have been irreversible if left unattended. Thankfully, all turned out well and I am grateful to both Shelagh and Hanan for their excellent service in the years since.

One of the most important aspects of getting a proper hearing aid fitting is making sure that your ear mould fits correctly so that it is comfortable with no annoying feedback issues. I found Hanan to be very professional. When he took the ear impressions, he took time to maximize the accuracy of that measurement. I’ve used high power hearing aids for years so we discussed the pros & cons of available ear mould materials and features that would help to make a successful ear mould for me.
Hanan appears to be sincerely interested in investing the time necessary to make your hearing aid experience a positive one so that you will have the best possible hearing to cope with your daily hearing challenges. I appreciate that commitment.

Shelagh was great as she explained so much about my new hearing aids. She took the time to ensure the hearing aids were set up properly and that I could hear well with them.
She answered all of my questions as well as questions that I had not thought of.
Overall this was a great experience and I would highly recommend this as the best establishment for your hearing issues.

From Rhian at the front desk, to Shelagh listening to my wants and needs and coming up with the right fit, everyone was friendly and professional.

Great services and great staff. I had a past bad experience having earwax removed at a different location. At the Nanaimo Hearing Clinic the steps were explained to me and procedure was easy and comfortable. We also had our hearing check too! The reception is friendly, helpful and fun to chat with. I recently returned to the Nanaimo Hearing Clinic, and was once again very impressed with the extremely welcoming environment, and their utmost professionalism. The service I receive here is top notch.

The staff at the NHC was beyond patient while I was coming to terms with having two hearing aids. They allowed me time to get used to them also even the thought of them for several weeks while on trial. The ability to communicate effectively with the rest of the world is a gift that technology brought with compassionate skill to employ. I feel like I should mention price points. A way I look at it is this. Its a very tiny computer behind your ear.its so tiny in fact it has a mic, yes a mic, a battery, blue tooth and processor all in this bean behind your ear! SO the price does match the technology behind the product. The aids have a 3 year warranty and option to have them covered with your home owners insurance. I will forever be grateful

I decided to get my hearing checked because friends were telling me that I frequently asked them to repeat what they had said. Also, I am very interested in doing all I can to prevent dementia since hearing loss is associated with dementia. I went to the Nanaimo Hearing clinic on the recommendation of my partner who has been going there for years.
Hanan, the hearing practitioner, was very through in his testing and explanations. He told me about the changes I could expect when first using the hearing aids so it was easier to adapt to them. Because of the help I recieved, my transition to using hearing aids has been smooth. As well, the receptionist is always cheerful and supportive.

The staff was very friendly. It was a very clean office. The hearing specialist was very pleasant, informative and efficient. She also was very pleasant and explaining to me the procedure and why it was being done. I would highly recommend choosing them for any hearing issues. Sheila Crease

In early January my ear specialist prescribed a hearing test and a tympanic membrane test. I booked with a clinic in Parksville, but was not able to get an appointment until February. So I shopped around and found the Nanaimo Hearing Clinic website. They were able to see me within a week and did not charge me for the tympanic membrane test, unlike the other clinic that was going to charge a fee.

I was greeted by Rhian in reception with enthusiasm and a great big smile. She took care of me and made me feel welcome. Shelagh Merrill performed my hearing test and tympanic membrane test. She is very professional, thorough and took the time to explain the tests and my results. I was very pleased with the entire process.

A very low pressure approach with a considerable amount of time and patience was taken with the testing process and a full explanation of the status of my hearing loss. I was matched with the right units and given a week to try them out and get use to them.

A few months ago, I decided it was time to have my hearing checked, as my wife was concerned that I wasn't hearing very well. Shelagh did my testing and determined that I have mild to moderate hearing loss. From there she had me try a number of different hearing aids over a one week period each. There was never any pressure to buy or make a decision. Last week I made the choice to purchase my new Unitron hearing aids! I love them, as does my family!
The Nanaimo Hearing Clinic office is very conveniently located and the staff, including the receptionist are all very professional, friendly and helpful. They all made my experience a positive one. I am looking forward to seeing them again in a few weeks to follow up.

Shelagh Rhian and Hanan are very knowledgeable professional and helpful. In the five or more years I have been using their services they have been flexible with appointments, accommodating with repairs and responsive to all my questions. I received excellent service from the Hearing Clinic when I needed ear wax removed. When the first attempt was not completely successful the second appointment was without additional charge. The office staff is very pleasant and the technicians gentle and informative.

This hearing clinic goes beyond standard. For example: A women in long term care at the Nanaimo hospital said her hearing aids didn’t work, I took the batteries (which had no markings or numbers on the battery) to the clinic, got what I needed. The smile on her face was precious, she is 94 years old and can hear again.

I went back to the clinic for ear wax cleaning, hearing test, and new hearing aids. The process is exceptional. Blue tooth setup spot on. They know their products, probably better than the manual.

The clinic’s environment is very clean, and pleasant to wait in. Your questions for the hearing aids, testing, cleaning are answered quickly. A pleasant appointment reminder by phone from reception, and not an email, text or audio recording is nice to hear.

Well worth your time to go here for your hearing needs.

Great staff here! Very friendly and supportive. They are very knowledgeable about what they specialize in. The office is very nice and clean. They do a very good job with Covid protocols and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a hearing exam or aids of any kind!

We called 13 clinics trying to get a day of appointment for an audiogram, and while every other clinic was scheduling a month out, the Nanaimo Hearing Clinic got me an appointment for that afternoon. My family doctor requested that I book a hearing test so I called the Nanaimo Hearing Clinic. I was able to get an appointment the next day. I found the clinic to be very professional, friendly and was pleased that they were carefully following COVID guilelines.
Shelaugh was the practioner who performed the test. As I had never had a hearing test before she took time to carefully explain the testing procedures to me as well as going over the results thoroughly when we finished. At no time did I feel rushed and any questions that I had were answered fully.
