Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant (Vancouver)

Food was phenomenal! Their weekly specials are very enticing, if not a little on the pricey side. That said it's worth the $. The dim sum was equally delicious when I was here previously. This time we went all out and gorged ourselves on king crab, cod filets, tofu and pea shoots. The location is convenient as it's right at the marine gateway station on the Canada line. I'll be back here again for sure.

Consistent customer for 3 yrs, after the michelin star prices have been raised but service level poor. Familiar workers are no longer there. Lux atmosphere

High ceiling and spacious. Very clean restaurant with private rooms. Great service but their peking duck did not meet my expectation. They showed the duck before they went off to slice it and was presented with only 12 cuts of meat. I've had my fair share of peking duck around town but this place definitely disappointed me. The ducks are roasted in-house.

Nov 2023 update:

Dim sum is good but not really digging the 2% credit card fee. Would be nice if they let you know they would be adding it before they pass the machine as I would have used debit/cash instead after finding out.

It was good but surprised this restaurant was in the Michelin guide. Pushy servers trying up sell. And when you didn't order what they are trying to sell the attitude changes.

Definitely one of the best Dim Sums in Vancouver! Under Michelin Guide. The purple rice roll with prawn is a must try! Siew Mai is on the spot! Very fresh! Huge Har Gaos! The mango pudding is so cute for the kids and tastes good. Reservation is recommended. Bring cash along. 2% surcharge for CC.

Great dinning experience with family and good friends over excellent cuisine. Only complaint is the 2% surcharge when paying with VISA or MASTERCARD, which was an unhappy ending… no choice.

Ridiculous dinner wait time. Just because we didn’t order their set menus, we had to sit there and wait over an hour for food. Ended up leaving without waiting anymore. They are not worth it.

We got the dinner special that has Peking duck 2 ways. The duck wasn’t very seasoned, they only gave enough crepes per person. The Alaska king crab was super flavourful, we had it in the garlic onion sauce. The rest of the crab was deep fried and very delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Soup, lettuce wrap, fried rice, and shredded chicken fried noodle were average.
Overall, they were under staffed and service was ok. Restaurant was spacious and and clean.

Fresh seafood! We five of us had dimsums. All the dishes we had were fabulous, scrumptious! Even with reservation, we had to wait a bit that I take one star off.

The staff does not respect customers, when placing food on the table, the female staff spilled the food and did not apologize but continued to do it a second time.

Interesting Chinese seafood based restaurant - however, recently there has been a price hike - but food is still good nonetheless.

This place has good food but they now charge 2% when you use credit card. In response, I had to deduct this from their tips. Disappointing practice.

Had the 10 person king crab meal. The crab served was extremely small, food was cold and portions small. Service also not good.

Nice atmosphere, environment. Great artistic designed Dimsum into beautiful animals. Our grandchildren asked to visit Neptune Palace seafood restaurant. It is their favourite place.
That place allows family reunion any day. Food has pretty presentation and very appealing for the eyes. Best. They taste great. High end restaurant with reasonable price and portion. We over ordered for 3 persons including lots to take out for my mom at home. Good to entertain friends from out of town.

This is my first time coming to Neptune Palace. I was looking for a good oriental restaurant and this was within my vicinity after coming back from Seattle.
I wanted to try their King Crab but it's for 5-6 people, so I opted out for the delicious seafood soup and amazing Beef Rib option and stir fry rice with shrimp and scallops which was Supreme. They had 3 different kinds of tea complimentary, I chose Jasmin and it was good. The service was great, the atmosphere was very nice, and of course the food was of course delicious!
Oh, and they finished it off with a delicious black sesame see m dessert! Thank you!

The food quality of this restaurant is not great, but it's okay. However, the real problem with this restaurant is their lack of honesty. I went to have dim sum on Friday and saw that they had a promotion on king crabs for $29.80 per pound. I made a reservation with a staff member and confirmed that the price would be valid on Sunday. However, when I went for dinner on Sunday and ordered the king crab, I was overcharged a lot. A king crab that looked like 7 pounds was charged as 8.75 pounds, and the price was increased to $33.80 per pound. A staff member claimed they just increased the price. They also charged $18.80 for one-crab-two-dish, $26.80 to add needles, and $33.80 to add rice. In the end, I was charged $403.95 for a 7-pound king crab. I have never had a similar experience in other restaurants when ordering king crabs.

Used to be one of my favourite dim sum places. But they are now starting to charge a credit card fee, and I won't be coming back until they remove it.

Food was great! Doesn't take a whole lot of time waiting to get the food on the table. However, the service was medicore! I was really diasappointed. The first time I went there with friends the service was great! Believe me they we fast at taking out the empty plates however they were slow this time around. Fast froward to paying the bill my credit card got denied 3 times which was embarassing to begin with but what really got me annoyed was when the lady at the front desk punched in the incorrect $$$ amount and when I called her out to correct it she got furious. I was shocked. Made me question why they're even on the Michelin guide 2022 with that kind of service.

Worst service I ever had. The hostess was super rude. Will never go to this restaurant. Don't even waste your money there.

My friend and I wanted to get some dim sum. Like around 8: 50 pm there time of operations clearly they said they close 9: 30pm and the host told us that they are close clearly it was a lie. They just don't wanted service us

Unbelievable

Overall bad service for the prices, also very mediocre food. Definitely had better experiences at cheaper restaurants. Last called 45mins prior to closing, given dessert and bill part way through the meal, 30mins prior to closing.
Lastly, still had food on the table, abruptly had wait staff take my dishes away even though I did not say I was done eating nor was I asked.

Wont be coming back

Food is good but the service is questionable. I am quite disappointed at how the female manager or waitress helped me select the amount of tip before handing me the machine. This is SO unprofessional of her and not a very “Michelin guide” experience. It is definitely not her first time doing this as she did it so casually too.

She also got impatient with me because I had the machine for too long. She was rushing to take another table’s payment.

I literally have never had a restaurant select the tip amount for me before the payment unless of course it is a table of 8+ which we were not. We were not even a table of 5.

If you must go here, make sure you are aware how much tip they help you enter into the machine before paying. You could be overpaying for your meal here.

Absolutely awful service. My family and I would usually go to Neptune for dim sum and dinners and typically spend thousands dining there. Not anymore. The poor service started at our 7pm reservation, which the hostess ignored us for. She then said we didn't have a reservation until we pushed for her to check again, and lo and behold, we had one (7: 20 pm at that point). When we were guided to our room, it had already had the table set, appetizers laid out, and tea poured in 2/8 cups. So some other party was in our room before us but it was set like no one was there. The poured tea was our indicator that the room may have not been fully cleared out, and that the restaurant expected us to dine on used plates and teacups. After we were seated and ordered from the menus that weren't missing, the waitstaff would come by and leave our dishes on the side in front of the room on table instead of placing it on the lazy Susan. The food this time was also bad. The Peking duck wasn't very good and the squid was so overcooked I started choking on it. To top it all off, some random person dashed into our room and used the private bathroom there. After he was done relieving himself, he dashed out while we were all staring at him. I can't blame the waitstaff for that, but that experience summed up Neptune's new reputation for us. Classless, shameless, and of course, ill-mannered. They would be the type to be so snobbish to tell us to never come again! Fine with me! We'll spend our money on an establishment that is actually worth it. Not bouji Chinese quality.
