I recently underwent knee surgery at the New Westminster Surgical Centre. While the surgical process itself was successful, there were several aspects that made the overall experience less than satisfactory, especially considering the importance of the procedure.
Firstly, I had some unfortunate incidents with my personal belongings. Before surgery, the nurse did not advise against wearing jewelry, so I came wearing 2 necklaces that I never take off. The staff did not provide any small bag or container for items like these; instead, they suggested putting them in my personal belongings bag. After the surgery, I discovered that two pieces of my jewelry were missing from the personal bag I took home. I immediately called the clinic, but the initial nurse I spoke with seemed dismissive and failed to follow up as promised. Thankfully, a kind nurse later made an effort to search for the missing items, but it was already two days after my surgery, and unfortunately, my jewelry was nowhere to be found. It was rather disappointing to have such valuables disappear under the clinic's care.
Additionally, the clinic's appearance left much to be desired. Upon arrival, the waiting area was cluttered with numerous boxes and miscellaneous items, giving the impression that the clinic had recently opened. The lack of a tidy and organized space was not reassuring, especially when undergoing a surgical procedure.
Another point of concern was the delayed response to my post-care inquiries. I called the clinic three times seeking advice and assistance, but I did not receive a follow-up until the next afternoon. Such delays can be anxiety-inducing for patients who require timely and accurate information regarding their recovery.
Despite these drawbacks, I must commend the other nurses who were present during my stay. They were all kind, attentive, and supportive, which helped ease some of the discomfort caused by the issues mentioned above. Moreover, the surgery itself was successful.

While I appreciate the efforts of the caring nurses and the successful outcome of the surgery, the mishandling of my personal belongings, the untidy waiting area, and the delayed responses to my post-care inquiries were significant downsides. I hope that the clinic takes these issues seriously and improves its practices to ensure a more positive experience for future patients.

Thank you Dr. Gagnon for your expertise, Dr. Soon for taking the time to discuss my options & the WONDERFUL nursing staff and medical reception. You all made me comfortable, heard and confident that I was in very good hands.
Now post operative, I can say wholeheartedly that my experience at your surgical centre has been a very positive one.

I had my colonoscopy done at this location yesterday. And I am super happy with my experience.
Nurses here is beyond kind and compassionate and they explain every step through the procedure. I also had my colorectal polyp removed and they followed up with me today to see how I am doing. Overall a great experience. Thank you!

Clear instructions, on time procedure, all staff was excellent. Very clean & organized.

Amazing experience! Staff was wonderful! Felt super taken care of and relaxed in the environment that they created.

Got surgery here a couple of months ago. This place is amazing with the most wonderful staff. I'm really greatful for their wonderful service. Keep up the good work.
