Today 301 bus which was on 6: 00 pm but not came still bad service i think it’s driver is late but everyone is losing their jobs like this

Two slides that are open most of the time. The wave pool is great with good long sessions of varying wave intensity. They have a good play area for smaller children too. Nice big hot tub, and the center is conveniently positioned right next to the Newton bus exchange. Definitely recommend!

Attend Gracie Dojo here and practice jiu-jitsu. Super friendly group of people, an amazing work out and you learn a lot of practical defense moves.

Had a great time with my kiddos. Just a bit dirty, pools need to mop throughout the day for gross stuff on the floors, bigger water shoe stand might help too

The gym is pretty clean with ample equipments but the problem is the people who uses this gym. Some of the gym goers treats this gym as their personal gym and hog the equipments for hours. For example, you will never be able to use the Lat Pull because someone is using it even though they are on their phone just sitting on the equipment.

They have a wave swimming pool with slides. What else do you want JK. This place is good, equipment are easily available swimming pool is not big compare to other rec centers but they have different setting with the swimming pool as mentioned above. Courts are not crowded and they have different martial arts classes as well. In all their yearly subscription is quite cheap for the facilities they are providing.

Awesome place for kids. Customer service by the young woman, Sanvi, was exceptional. She went out of her way to try and help us find a space.

Call before you show up as they might have fife guard lessons and the wave pool might not be running

If you’re looking for the dirtiest pool head on in. During the 2 hours there, I had 2 clumps of hair on my toes. Used the family change room with my kids and it was full of teenage boys trying to take pictures over the stalls. Told the front desk and the situation didn’t really shock them. Open soaked bloody maxi pads in the garbage in change room stalls. Why would you swim with a maxi pad on? ! This pool is not big enough for the amount of people that they allow in there.

Been coming here for many years. I give 4 stars for the facility but the pool is very dirty.and the change rooms especially the universal needs work as a mom with a young boy it would be nice to have more privacy. I wish they would tell people if u r a party of all boys to go in the men's room. Or create another room for us. It's very strange to have to change out of a wet bathing suit around a bunch of men staring at u.this is very annoying. I'd rather walk out all wet n change in my car. Someone needs to secure the universal change rooms. Otherwise the slides and kids area r great. But please clean the pool better the overly extra chlorine does nothing for the mounds of hair in the pool.

Very good experience and slides, sauna, hot tub and main pool were very fun. The opening/closing times are a bit of a let down as well as the lack of a deeper pool but would go here again. Very good.

Pool was nice, wave pool was fun. The Family/universal change room is very poorly set up there are only two showers and you have to share them with everyone else. The change room was also so cold it was miserable trying to get my children and I changed after trying to stay warm.

Pool area is beautiful but small. Lifeguards are rude. They think they own the place. They can walk in the pool area with their outdoor shoes but no one else can.one yelled at me with her squeaky voice for wearing outdoor shoes in the pool area, and the same one went to a white lady and told her. Mam next time don't wear outdoor shoes here. My 12 years old daughter noticed that. Talk about racism or they think all people of color are FOB.

Swimming pool in Newton what can I say it's really fresh water really clean really friendly lifeguards they know what they're doing what they're paying attention to what else can I say go have a look and enjoy your swim

The pool is pretty good over all but they could make it better by putting less colouring in it…
And in the weight room they don’t have enough equipment or some machines but it’s pretty cheap.

I have reactivated my membership with them, and can’t use it! When I try to book a session all I get is one or two days a week! Like why waste my time and money?

Who do they think they are with the front office to the Newton Recreational Center, problems. Its Covid Pandemic I am looking to swim. I want to swim. I believe they should have facility open by now. Chlorine is a well known product to kill Covid.

Denied access to public washrooms after asking politely, what is the sense of having public facilities if the public cannot have access.

Do they ever have anyone answering the phone!? I called multiple times and was on hold for over half an hour. Hire some more people please! My son and I didn't end up going because I needed to ask some questions and nobody answered the phone! I didn't think that bussing there would be worth it. You have a phone for a reason.

Used to swim here a lot as a kid, came back to check it out and it was mostly a great experience! Unfortunately the first locker we tried ate our coins, but the staff were very kind and gave us some coins to try a different locker. The waves in the pool get pretty intense, so it's good to know about that beforehand. A few guys in the pool kept ruining the experience because they wouldn't listen to the lifeguards and the lifeguards didn't do anything about them not listening. I'm glad there was lots of parking though, that helped!

So I am a member of this community and place great value in having our rec center I also have a membership here where I use gym facilities but have had good and bad experiences at the wave pool. Most times Staff are fairly accomadating and helpful however I had one incedent of being 10 cents short and was denied entry wich is correct you are expected to have your fee. Now when you are regular member with id you can't help but feel very unwelcome and definitely not a great family environment. Clearly that staff member was having an off day and I asked if I could speak with a manager to see If there was any way to work this out and the response was no management was she then asked peer staff if she had to let me in because I was short by 10 cents. Its all good a patron was very generous to solve our dilemma. It really fosters an unsupportive environment but on a separate occasion I arrived to change in the change room for gym and was confonted to a homeless man in shower accusing me of coming in to steal his wallet and clothing. I promptly alerted staff and declared I just wanted to change when he became abusive and threatening. The staff offered another change room when I don't understand why such abuse was tolerated without even a warning to the perpetrator. I find it difficult to feel my children would be safe in such an environment. I can't claim to understand what staff have to deal with or the stress that might accompany the center. Some staff members have been exceptional and having a safe, friendly and local community supportive environment would mean a lot to family's that are grateful for your service. Thank you

Terrible customer service. Whether you go in to the front desk or you call them they provide very bad service and aren’t much help. You’re better off going to a different place. I was on the phone waiting for someone to pick up to ask if there was room/sign up for a drop in activity.was on hold for 30 minutes and no one even answered at all. At that point I just put down the phone. That just kinda seems weird considering how many people work there.

I wanna share my bad experience with newton rec center.
On wednesday (10july2019), I registered my two kids for soccer game. At the registry time receptionist guy told us that your kids can still join the classes but he also said that your kids have missed one class, it was on last sunday,
First thing- When we went there today 15 minutes before the class started, we found out that it was the third class today instead of second, so it means the receptionist guy was lying on that day, so its not acceptable.
Second thing- We reached 15 minutes earlier so we went in the gymnasium, there was already a former class playing soccer. Over there we saw the instructor pick up football and kicked it towards small girl very forcefully. It was not an accident, I was sitting with my family i saw the whole incident.
Then i decided to cancel the classes.
Third thing- I went to the receptionist guy and requested him to cancel the registering. He put almost $10 cancellation charges ($5+$4).
In the end it was their mistake but we had to pay the charges for their mistake, "yes". For their mistake

The receptionist guy gave me Manager's contact card, i tried to call her several of times, but did not get any answer.
I still don't understand why they made me pay $10?

Great place for the family. Fun place there is a preschool section. The change rooms need more private stalls with showers

My first and last time there.
Service at service desk needs improvement, confusing schedules, went there with 2 kids 6 PM Thursday nite and they had us wait an hour, and according to confusing schedule (pdf file).
Lessons should be fenced of at the certain area, and public should be able to use the rest of the public facility.
Finally when we got in water temperature in pool is cold, jacuzzi shallow, family.change rooms only have 2 common area showers, no showers in changerooms.

Nice wave pool with two slides. Would be much better if they had a diving board and lanes for swimming

Went swimming with my kids at the wave pool and they loved it. I like that there is a kiddie pool but I kind of wish there was one that was in between in depth. My 2 older are able to swim in the waves alone but 2 younger aren't and my 5 year old didn't like the kiddie pool but my 2 year old did haha the inlet type pool was still a bit too "wavey" for my youngest. The perfect pool when my husband comes too.

No sauna after all those renovations so sad: (Also I would like to see every sauna and steam room run by the city to have double doors to enter. This will reduce the loss of heat and will reduce the cost of the energy foot print.

Awful took my granddaughters 7 and 9
They were so excited to challenge the waves - we were told waves were broken unknown when they will be fixed
So thought we try the slides nope slides are only open from 7 -9 PM weekdays - wow who goes to the slides in the evening after dinner weekdays?
We had to ask them to turn on the kiddie pool water area
When we arrived they failed to tell us that in an hour we would be asked to leave so they can use the pool for swimming lessons
Horrible place if there was a negative number I would give it a -10
I can see why no one but elderly men in the hot tub were there

Good luck with your pool going forward we will never return

I bring my kids here to swimming lessons and skating at the ice rink. It's family friendly and really nice with the new updates.

Went with my five grandkids (4,7,11,15,17) and youngest son and we had a great time! The whole facility was very clean. The staff were all friendly. The water was perfect temperature. The waves were so fun. The 2 water slides were fast! There were lots of flotation devices available if you want one. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend as family outing. And very inexpensive!
