I'm Japanese and visited a lot of Japanese gardens in Japan before moving to Canada, so I'm comfortable to say I know when I see a good garden. This is a very good Japanese garden. This place is well maintained, and I am very impressed with the moss covering all the grounds. Beautiful.

Went on a beautiful Fall day during the week. No lineup and only a handful of tourists. Fall colors starting to show. Great visit!

Beautiful gardens! They are really well maintained and it’s a lovely peaceful spot. They’re small so only took about 10 mins to see everything. But I’d highly recommend taking your time and just wandering along slowly. It’s a great place to sit and reflect

Small garden. Matcha green tea pond. Smol fishes. Some bench spots have bad view. One of them is just staring at a bush. Wish they added a little more flowers and not just GREEN.

I liked the moss near the entrance. Wished this was free though. $6.30 was too much, unless you’re a UBC student.

This is a great place to relax, sprinkle some beauty into your life and really just appreciate nature and symmetry.

This is a tranquil and scerene garden, beautifully manicured. If you love moss and ferns, you're in for a treat. I'm told the Koi fish tend to hideout under the bridges - if it's sunny and hot, this is where you might find them. $7 to get in. Well worth the trip. Stay on the pebbled path!

A very pretty and tranquil oasis, but extremely small and contained. The landscaped setting provides lovely photo opportunities with a quaint waterfall, a large pond and bridges.
We purchased tickets online in order to enable a faster entry. When we arrived we saw a good line up at the ticket booth, so we asked a staff member if we could skip the line as we had already purchased tickets online. However, she insisted that we were still required to wait in line to validate our tickets. We waited quite a while until another staff member later asked if we had purchased tickets online, checked our tickets then granted us immediate entry. There's definitely some miscommunication here.
The gardens also offers tickets to their guided tea ceremony throughout the day. If the website featured this on a regular basis then we would've timed our entry accordingly. We had considered attending, but would've needed to wait an extra hour, which was too long.
If you're looking to spend a good afternoon in UBC then joint tickets for the Botanical Gardens is recommended.

Went here today for fall colors but sadly the color of the trees have not turned to orange/red yet. I felt it's a bit expensive with $7.00/adult as entrance fee and parking is not free.

Beautiful, tranquil garden with many great design details. My favourite part was the tea house, which made for a lovely online meeting background. However, it was a bit smaller than what I had expected. Note that there is a fee for non-UBC students. It would have been nice if UBC made it free so that it is more accessible to the public.

So cool and green and mossy. A visit very worthwhile the entrance fee. We bumped into a film crew with professor emeritus David Suzuki! Keep your eyes peeled!

The Nitobe Garden was a pleasant surprise. A small, serene place w high spiritual energy. Spend 15 min or longer. Enjoy the intentionally different perspectives and appreciate the art fullness of the place.

It's my first time here and I really enjoyed my visit.

Fantastic spot and when we bought tickets, Ted, the attendant, was extremely helpful and cordial. Highly recommend.

We visited on a Saturday, in the early afternoon so there were several other people in the space at the same time.
When it is less busy it is probably more beautiful, and peaceful.
Benches, designated or clearly divided spaces, manicured walk ways, grassy areas, trees, the pond and moving water.
The space is aesthetically pleasing and relatively easy to find.
We overheard a random student explain that the garden was created around a large kasuga lamp that was sent from Japan; after the namesake's passing.
Ultimately it seems a labour of love for the people who maintain it, and an excellent retreat for students, locals and visitors, alike.

Initialement pas prévu au programme, nous avons été au nitobe grâce au pass d'entrée comprenant nitobe, MOA et jardin botanique. Une belle découverte! Jardin bien entretenu, calme et reposant. On s'y sent bien! Je recommande à 100%!

Love the ponds, waterfalls, and paths. Does anyone else like to stroke the moss with their hands? I could spend all day there sitting on the bridges or benches and feel serene and completely entertained.

Unless you r into this, it's really small for just random sightseeing. But nice little Japanese garden anyway.

Outstanding traditional Japanese gardens out in UBC arena near the museum of anthropology in Vancouver BC a peaceful tranquil location well worth a visit.

Pond needs more Koi. If there were more I would have given 5 stars. Also I observed some visitors (foreign tourists) disregarding the rules and walking all over the grass and moss while a groundskeeper said nothing.

Quiet peaceful little garden with plants from Asia and Goldfish, and a friendly gatekeeper!

Absolutely gorgeous place. The peaceful quiet garden with a variety of plants. The rainy day added to its beauty, too.

Beautifully cared for outdoor Japanese gardens. Can get a little busy, and people like to go here to take photos, since it provides a stunning backdrop, but still worth a visit if you're in the area. It's a quiet and stunning place for a leisurely stroll, or maybe a nice place to take a coffee and a snack, there are also lots of benches throughout the little walled park.
