Open 24 hours serving some comfort Chinese food. Cash only. Quick service. Decent portion sizes but on the pricier side. The crispy deep fried squid was my favorite! Congee and noodles were also solid and tasty.
30 October 2023 5:55
Boycotting this place. Used to be a good place for late night craving. Foods mid, overpriced, strongly seasoned with msg. Cash only. Since when was tips in Canada mandatory? Newsflash it is not. 2nd experience with wait staff demanding tip. My party already provided a decent amount and wants 10% and up! There was no extraordinary service provided, just the waitress doing what she's paid to do and wanting money for at most a 5 minute interaction? Tell me a job that pays $20 for 5 minutes. Was even asked to pay the bill in the middle of eating as she was clocking out. Definitely the last time I step in this establishment.
29 October 2023 16:12
Old Chinese food, except for the convenience of being open 24 hours, the taste is very ordinary, Richmond, Vancouver is much better than it
18 October 2023 8:58
I grew up going to No. 9 and have fond memories of my immediate and extended family and I enjoying a dinner here. It was been our go-to for 15+ years.

It is safe to say, that after the pandemic, No. 9 has fallen from grace and has turned into mall quality food for high end prices. It’s always been cash only and the service has always not been the best - but something truly happened over the pandemic… perhaps new management changed the whole dynamic and taste of this restaurant. Mandatory tips, $$$ for simple dishes, food tastes greasy and a day old…. The most recent and final time we ate here I got food poisoning that lasted a week.

We are not returning and will no longer recommend no. 9 to our peers.
20 January 2022 15:03
The prices are excellent for the amount of servings. But the cleanliness and overall sanitation needs to be re-examine.
17 January 2022 13:04
This restaurant must be new ownership, the quality is not the same and it just does not taste very pleasant. A year ago was a world of a difference in the food quality, not to mention price.

Will not be returning for awhile.
08 January 2022 21:23
I ordered a BBQ pork on rice, it's literally pork Jerky on rice. Hard and very difficult to swallow. Very disappointed
23 December 2021 0:51
Late night eats, good prices and open late. Quality can be better but.better than fast food after 2am. Don't expect a home style meal here.
10 December 2021 23:06
Great location, open 24 hours (dine in till 2: 30 am. 24/7 take out)
Foods quality and portion are not met their price. Nothing fancy but ordinary Chinese foods.
Cash only and they don’t bring your change back, server takes tip without your consent. My bill was $22 and I paid with $20 and $10 bills total $30 at lunchtime and they didn’t bring change back. I asked server but she refused. Never come back here. I think It’s criminal.
08 December 2021 22:14
If you don’t have cash we can’t serve you is what I’m getting from this place. The staff are very proud to say that we only accept cash. The debit is as close as the cash but they won’t accept. This can mean only two things: avoid taxes and workers get paid by cash. I don’t know any other restaurant run this way and there are lots of Chinese restaurants offer bigger portions better tastes and accept credit cards debit and Apple Pay etc.
08 December 2021 0:34
We had late night dinner last night. The waiter gave us receipt with 13% gratuity added without telling us! We ended up paying extra tips! Be aware!
04 December 2021 20:38
Been here few times the staff are polite.
The food is fast and tastes fresh for the few times we been there. Quality is good for the style of food they have. Lots of parking and 24hrs open. Waitresses recommends the specials or putting orders in combos to help customers save money, now that’s rare.
We ate there 4 times in 2 days lol… breakfast lunch breakfast lunch.
03 December 2021 3:45
I came for congee and fried donut for breakfast, and they tasted amazing. The lady waitress was very friendly and patient
29 November 2021 0:49
Haven't been here in a number of years. Still a very solid choice for quick Cantonese style dishes. Their menu continues to have a lot of variety. Food came out quickly and was of good quality. Can't really beat this place if you're looking for a 24hr Chinese restaurant.
12 November 2021 14:41
Open 24 hours and has an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu. There’s options for everyone and it’s always consistently good quality.
10 November 2021 23:36
What can I say? The ever so famous no9 offers a 24 hour place which has SOOOOOo many options. They only accept cash most of the time so come prepared. The food for me is better than other 24 hour options so definitely if you are having late night hunger urges. Then this is my go to suggestion over places such as Dennys or Churches as this is a more luxurious offer in comparison. That being said I wouldn't say I would go here on purpose if it were during regular dining hours. So it is solid and my go to in weird hours, but not something recommended when there are other options available.
09 November 2021 3:07
We ordered BBQ pork rice, soy chicken rice, beef brisket noodle soup and deep fried garlic tofu. BBQ pork and soy chicken was super LEAN and DRY. It feels like we're having cardboards/ jerky. The beef brisket noodle soup was a disaster. I added the whole bowl of beef sauce and it still tastes like nothing. The whole bowl of noodle was unflavored even I added the whole spicy oil to it as well. The garlic tofu was unflavored too, tasted like air. I'm not as angry if it's not overpriced. Their price is ridiculously expensive. It used to be a nice place the have late night food, but unfortunately it is not anymore.
07 November 2021 10:05
Used to come here for lunch all the time. Fresh congee and noodles were my favorite.
There were not many customers when we went for late lunch on Sunday. Many staff but somewhat idling. The food was mediocre and a bit on the pricy side for the quality. Bit disappointed and will think twice for my next visit.
07 November 2021 7:18
Well, it had been my late night haunt for the last 15 years. My fav had been their bbq pork. But I afraid the rest of their menu had gone down the hill. My observation had been they try to cater to too many people with different tastes. In process, they their core Cantonese food really watered down. Their portion is still big but the tastes had gone down thru the years I afraid. One thing that REALLY irritate their customers, they ONLY take CASH. Not even Interact, this is a late night restaurant, people go their going to nightclub etc and you expect people to have the cash on them or have to hit the ATM?
26 October 2021 20:23
24/7 takeout, some picnic tables are available in the parking lot if it isn't raining or too cold. Love being able to stop in for congee (rice porridge) first thing in the morning, dine in starts at 6.
12 October 2021 0:49
Quick clean HK style cafe. Was craving some congee and rice noodles. This hit the spot.
Congee with lean pork and preserved egg. Rice noodle and brisket. $15 incl tax and tip. CASH ONLY!
01 October 2021 11:29
They gave me the wrong meal. I didn't realize it till I was at home, by that time the restaurant was closed so I didn't even get eat because what I paid for was food I did not like. So for that I rate this place low. Maybe if I decide to eat there again and I get the right food then I will rate you higher
18 September 2021 3:43
First off, they only accept cash here probably because it won’t be taxed that way.
Everything is overpriced for terrible quality of food. A small dish of boiled lettuce was over $10. While every other dish was lacking in flavour, to the point that we had to get 4 mini bowls of soy sauce and 2 chilli oil sauce. Our 9 year old usually likes things that has simple flavours and loves porridge, but she wouldn’t touch this after trying a spoonful.
The service was passable and all the dishes arrived in less than 10mins even though the place was pretty packed and food was not steaming hot, just warm. Which is a tad concerning considering the fact that I frequent Chinese restaurants and the authentic places will take a bit to cook the food.
The only dish I liked there was the curry brisket, but that’s probably because that’s perfect and easy for leaving there to stew.
Best thing about this place is that it’s open 24/7. Perfect for a late night snack, but the price is outrageous for that quality.
I would gladly pay it if it was actually good food.
12 September 2021 19:32
Long established place for Chinese fare. However, it only accepts cash and WePay and the reason Is for tax evasion. No sanitizing of in store menus and they share one pair of heavy duty gloves for all dirty dishes, while they wear the same pair of gloves through their entire shift - multiple people wore the same gloves but between handling clean dishes and touching the inside of the heavy gloves, the staff never changed their thin gives.

There is a printed 13% mandatory tip for dine in. Our bill was $37.17 and we gave them 2x$20 waiting for change. However, the cashier just dump the bills in their box and never looked back. We paid about 23% in tips. It was a deep shock.
11 September 2021 18:50
Run by nice people, kinder/more service to Chinese speakers.
I ordered bubble tea, it was fantastic and tasted authentic.
Large menus, lots of options. I will have to return to try the food, it has been highly recommended to me.
04 September 2021 10:53
A place that's open 24 hours deserves some recognition at the very least. Theyret cash only because. Well some chinese restaurants just like dealing with cash:)
Just know that you're not coming here expecting top quality food, but it's good to satisfy your stomach. I would recommend just getting their BBQ pork/duck type things and avoiding seafood dishes altogether.
26 August 2021 16:35
One of the few places open early the morning I'm Richmond. Most places don't open this early. This place is actually open 24 hours. Not bad, but not great.
20 August 2021 21:31
Fantastic 24 hour joint near Landsdowne Station. Menu is massive with pretty much anything you want, anytime you want. Bring CASH
13 August 2021 8:19
This place is open 24 hours and the menu is massive so it's a good option for me and my family of four. They serve mostly Chinese foods (fried rice, congee, soup noodles, fried noodles, BBQ pork, BBQ duck, etc.) and some HK Café style snacks.
12 August 2021 17:43
Delicous food, open nonstop - if you like chinese food, definitely go here.
On the other hand, cash only, staff is friendly but not always make you fell welcomed. Also giving tips is harder because of cash policy, last time I had to give way smaller tip than I wanted because cash only - bring extra coins for that.
03 August 2021 6:58
Just because I gave it 3 stars, does not mean that I didn't like it.

The place was a great for what it is.
Food was good, portions / price were reasonable. And the service was quick and friendly. The food came out fast too considering that nearly every table was full (always a good sign when the tables are filled)
The menu is monstrous. Was like reading a short novel
Definitely going back to explore the menu some more, and for sure would recommend the place to anyone. Just don't expect fine dining, and quiet atmosphere.

Also took notice to how clean they kept the place. Not an easy task when it is that busy.
05 June 2021 20:53
Has gone down in the past few years my best memories were way back in 2012 when they loaded you up in their take out containers.the quality has diminished as well.the sweet and sour pork has a lot of hollow breading in it which is a disgrace to chinese cuisine.and the shanghai chow mein hardly has any meat in it.paid 60 bucks for 3 dishes of subpar chinese food.
31 May 2021 22:25
Ordered Ahi Poke Bowl. Rice was half cooked, tasteless sauce and shredded radishes are dry. We have been ordering Poke a lot and this one was the worst I have ever get
09 April 2021 17:54
For dine in,
Cash only.
On top of that, 13% TIP is MUST!
When you first enter the restaurant they show you a sign saying CASH ONLY 13% TIP. They will only sit you after you agree to pay the 13% tip.
07 April 2021 0:51
This place is amazing. If you’re looking to feel like you’re in a different country this is the place to be. It’s bustling, loud and full of delicious aromas. The food was served on time and the waitress was friendly. The food is delicious and hot. I will definitely eat here again! Maybe I’m sheltered but I will never forget this place and how it made me feel and the fact they open 24 hours is crazy to me lol
26 March 2021 12:48
The only restaurant that sells great silverfish. 13% gratuity already included in the bill. Cash only. Food is great.

九記 No 9 (24 小時茶餐廳)

No 9 is a well-established 24-hour Hong Kong-style restaurant in Metro Vancouver. There are many menu choices and the taste remains stable. I personally like the two types of shrimp wonton noodles and beef brisket noodles in clear soup. The shrimps in the wontons are very full and the sirloin is abundant. It is soft but not chewy. The noodles are moderately firm. When it comes to this, I must recommend the afternoon tea, the seasonal sirloin rice in the menu, beef noodles with fresh eggplant, and white mushroom chicken with sauce. Steak rice, dry fried Niuhe, etc.are all worthy of my recommendation. The portion is full and cheap, and the service attitude is good. I have to give a big
08 December 2020 3:45
I think in an effort to have the food hot, the microwaved or heated up the fish congee point where it burned the tongue. After that, it was hard to taste the rest of the food... I would have given a higher rating had the food not been so freaking hot. It was as if it was mic'd for a long long long time and so it even took forever to cool - which at that point was not very satisfying. Congee should be the perfect temperature. Service was good.
25 February 2019 10:43
This 24 hours Chinese Restaurant is place that you will always get yourself feeded. Their dishes are very big. Although it's not the best taste in town, it is average. I enjoyed the late night dinner especially in this place, as there's not many others are opened late. Worth to give it to a try.
19 February 2019 1:48
I would not recommend this resteraunt, food was ok kind of tasted like MSG and bowls smelt of bleach. There's always a line up so expect to wait. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't such a horrible experience here. Servers were rude and snobbish. Treat you poorly if you don't "look" rich my family and I went here and they expect you to pay 10% tip to a service clearly undeserved service needs improvement I felt like we were being rushed to eat and they wanted us out this resteraunt. This restraunt is cash only and my parents paid including the forced 10% tip they had 5$ needed to be given back, which they never gave back we sat at our table waiting for 7 minutes expecting it to be returned, servers just stared at us and laughed the fact we gave 10% tip, worth +10$, (CLEARLY UNDESERVED) and not being given back our 5$ cash back is unacceptable and just being greedy.by this point we were clearly upset and unsatisfied I am very unimpressed with this resteraunt.
09 February 2019 3:05
Crazy huge menu. Expensive but large portions. Cash only. Atm on site but pricey fees. Open 24hrs. Has lots of Canadian good options including breakfast all day. The bacon cheeseburger was delicious and fresh. Nice crispy fries and although we had come confusion ordering it. The gravy was really good. Burger and fries was about $11 On the skytrain side of Lansdowne mall. Tons of parking. Big restaurant. Can get busy esp late night on Friday/Sat. I think they take reservations for larger groups.
08 February 2019 13:39
This place is decent enough if you want some Cantonese food late at night. It is the go to place for Chinese food regardless of the hour of the day since they are open 24 hours a day.

This restaurant has been a 24 hour Chinese restaurant ever since late 1990’s. This place wouldn’t surprise you with the food quality but it wouldn’t disappoint you either.
06 February 2019 12:04
DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EATING HERE I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. IF YOU DONT GIVE A MINIMUM OF 10% TIPS, THEY GO AFTER YOU AND TELL YOU THAT YOU DIDNT PAY ENOUGH! TIPS ARE GIVEN FOR GOOD SERVICE AND NOT MANDATORY! THEY DONT HAVE GOOD SERVICE NOR THE PLACE IS VERY DIRTY!
04 February 2019 7:29
Greatest thing here is the quick service. Order and you'll get your food quite fast. It can get hectic when it's busy so don't feel afraid if you have to flag a server for some help. Otherwise great food at a decent price.
29 January 2019 2:25
This is a great Chinese fast food place. Get the "Salt and Pepper Fried Chicken Wings" and you won't be disappointed. If you haven't had them, you haven't had fried chicken.
26 January 2019 10:24
Casual Chinese food diner that is open 24 hours a day. Serves standard dishes such as veggie fried rice, beef chow fun, etc. The staff seemed quite bored and did not smile, but I did appreciate having access to a separate vegetarian menu to order food from
Canadian cash only.
22 January 2019 14:40
Always delicious food for great value, and they also feature a few LEGO Star Wars UCS sets on display that fans are sure to appreciate! Would highly recommend the BBQ duck soup noodles.
10 January 2019 7:51
I’ll give 0 stars if possible. Super non-accommodating for people with allergies. Family was planning to have dinner and my 5 year old sister have food allergies so we usually just bring her something to eat whenever we go to restaurants. In this particular case, they wanted to take away her food and let her eat nothing while we eat. So we left. It’s incredibly ridiculous. Honestly if it was me who had food allergies it would’ve fine waiting for my family to eat, but a 5 year old!? They were super inconsiderate.
30 December 2018 23:57
No 9 always been the midnight snack place after 11pm.but the last few years it's made a name for itself. They have BBQ dishes to fried rice and noodles.soup noodles and all the typical Cantonese dishes.they also offer a great breakfast menu too.actually they serve everything.burgers and fries too.fish and chips.etc.menu is large and so much to choose from.kids somewhat friendly.wheelchair accessible.and lots of parking outside.service is always good as the ladies do work hard.and sometimes they can get a little tired and forgetful.but overall they are pretty attentive.always a pleasure here.bri gs back memories.
28 December 2018 7:28
Decent place to go if it’s late and you want Chinese food. Menu is huge and prices are moderate which is why it’s pretty popular. The food is somewhat hit and miss so I would suggest not ordering anything that requires some finesse. It’s kind of like a McDonald’s of Chinese restaurants. Service is usually fast and friendly.
22 December 2018 9:18
Good late night eats;

This place is hit or miss with food and service. Food generally comes out quickly and sometimes it’s absolutely delicious. The first time we went there and had the salted peppered shrimp it was amazing. Pretty much every time after hasn’t been as good. I went here for my birthday last year and received the worst service from a woman who was absolutely miserable. It was beyond embarrassing as it was the first time my family and family friends had experienced this place. She acted as if we were an absolute nuisance in her existence. We had reserved a table for 8 people they shoved us in the smallest booth possible that barley fit us all.
21 December 2018 2:22
Terrible service. After collecting our bill, the waitress wrote down the wrong amount and refused to get us a 10 dollar change. This place is cash only and you really can't trust them! Will never come again.bill = 30,付了43,服务员坚称收了33,拒绝找零。非常差劲的服务
18 December 2018 5:00
Braised pork with Rice with eggs didn't taste good. Crispy noodles and chicken, noodles were a soggy mess. To be fair, I've eaten at No. 9 restaurant for many years. Not all of their food is bad. Most is great actually.

This review was specifically for the items I ordered. Late night takeout, no effort on the food.
Just my 2 cents
19 November 2018 1:12
Would give No 9 a 5 star if it was not so squishy and everybody kind of crammed in the space. BUT the food is well worth it! There is usually a wait, but they try not to make it a long wait. As they do bring your food out very fast and the portions are Huge! You usually have to flag down your waiter for further service, drinks or tea etc. But all in all, well worth the price and portions.cram me in there anyday! Dont let your ethnicity choose somewhere else, they are friendly there and their food itself is FIVE stars!
17 November 2018 17:25
Never disappoints! Lucky to have a place that serves up pretty decent fare 24 hours. The food is well seasoned (also read: bit oily) but come on, it’s Chinese food. And it was open at 11pm, 2am, and other odd times that we found ourselves at their mercy when other restaurants were closed between lunch and dinner hours.
Service is always courteous even in the wee hours, and the food is always consistently good.
Cash only. ATM available inside the restaurant. Wheelchair accessible for seating (not washrooms). Ample and free parking, and steps from the sky train.
05 October 2018 14:51
This is a Chinese cuisine restaurant. And I would also only recommend Chinese cuisine here. Portions are smaller than average. But reasonable. They are open 24 hours so that's nice.
